Hello everybody,
I own a samsung sgh-i780 with standard rom (win mobile 6.0).
Its a nice phone, but there is one problem which strucks my nerves.
When the battery is low, I am not any more the one who tells my phone what to do, but my phone tells me what i am still allowed to do.
So when my battery is low (below 10%), the following functions are denied by wm6:
- using the camera
- using the phone function (calling someone, etc.)
Using WiFi is still possible. (is it a phone or an internet station? :confused)
I tink I should be allowed to decide for what I want to use my last percentage of the battery.
Is there any trick (e.g. in the registry) where can decide on which battery level the phone and camera will shutdown? I would set it to 0 ;-)
Thanks in advance,
butch
Oh lol thought you wanted to disable it when reading the title.... i would love to turn the 3g off on low battery, probably saves some power
that's not my point.
following situation:
battery is below 10 percent. i start a call. suddenly my mobile stopped the call and disabled the phone function. after i enabled the phone function again it was disabled by the phone some seconds later. but still after minutes i was allowed to use wifi to browse the net, but i was not able to call anyone because my mobile says m battery is to low. what if i need to do an emergency call? should i write an email?
hope my peoblem is clear now.
i wanna be able to set calls until the battery is empty and the phone is shutting down.
regards
butch
hi again,
does noone have any idea?
Does the problem still exists with a 6.1 rom for the sgh-i780?
greetings, butch
MC75A
Hey,
I think i got the same problem.
I am support a project that works with the Motorola (Symbol) MC75A.
Sometimes the PDA disable the phone functions and the end user doesnt have the option to reactivate it.
No im really searching a long time were this behavior came from. And finally lands here now i have to check it.
But is there generally an option to set the Phone function permanently ON and remove the option to disable it?
Device: MC75A (Motorola)
Operating system: WM 6.5
Thanks in front,
Matt
Hi, Ive been reading a lot about battery saving apps that I started to get curious as to whether these apps really work.
I installed JD out of curiosity and I have to say that all it doea is disable automatically your phone connections to help you save power. Things that you can actually do manually. Like turning off wifi and mobile network. If im not mistaken you can disable mobile network under your phone's settings.
So my question is, if you can do it manually, what is the point of apps like juice defender? It eats up ram and runs as a background process which in my opinion does more bad than good to your battery unless your the i dont know how to disable connections manually in my phone kind of guy.
Somebody please enlighten me. Thanks.
I have used it for a long times. Since I used Xperia PLAY.
I think this program is good. Yes, if you can manually do it. But the feature I like the most is Screen. It can change CPU ghz according to your screen on / off.
It saves my battery a lot.
Press THANKS if you agree with me.
I am a long time user of jd but these days the only feature i use regularly is to disable data overnight.
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
- Airplane mode over night
- automatic wireless connection with "location" feature (if near a known wireless network it starts the wireless and connects, if not near it directly starts 3G)
- I do not have to mess with on/off wireless/3G
- automatically syncs every hour, so I have to do nothing but still get my mails
- with rooted phone underclock on screen off
- bluetooth off after 5 mins without connected bluetooth device
etc....
It is NOT for you if you want to have online connection all the time. And it is not for you if you don't mind to do all the things manually it does for you.
And in my opinion only the full version really helps, the free version does not much...
I think it's a great app! :good:
If you just need to auto toggle data, check out 3GBattery too.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wyLDEsImNvbS5teXN0aXF1ZS50aHJlZWdiYXR0ZXJ5Il0.
basically, there are 2 main things that drain our devices: 1) 3g/2g and 2) display brightness. I've been using JD since ever, and the difference is awesome with and without. Even the free version is enough to save some batt, in the Agressive mode (connects every 30min).
Besides JD, I am using Greenify. Which needs root to work and does a beautiful job with background apps like Facebook, GMaps etc.
works on both my devices :good:
Personally I think this app is useless.
As OP has said, you can just set up those things manually.
This app just eats RAMs and use your battery up more.
Hey folks I have a few Tasker questions and I don't see a recent thread for this awesome app. I have found some threads that suggest profiles to download. I would rather tinker and learn how to build them myself.
For instance I am looking to save a little battery life at work where I have an incredibly weak cell signal. My phone drains itself trying to connect/reconnect to the towers all day long. My thought was to have Tasker put my phone in airplane mode when I am at work by using the neighbor's secured wifi as a trigger. I can't use my phone at work so this seems like it would be an acceptable state to leave my phone in for 8 hours. Obviously I could turn it off, but I use it occasionally during breaks, mostly for offline stuff. My question is whether I will drain my battery by having Tasker constantly checking to see if the condition of my profile (near Wifi) is satisfied.
Thanks!

That is perfect thanks!
I've lately got into developing mobile apps and even though i've promoted this as beta, people seem to be using it, but nobody's reporting back! - same goes for all of my apps, i don't get it...
Anyway, i need real feedback and I was wondering if any folks here with a rooted android could help test this app out, it was made on Kitkat, so while yes, it works fine for me, it may not for you... I've had one feedback comment saying that his modem data was not switching off on lollipop, so i added support for that now allowing him or her to use the app as intended, but after replying via the playstore, nothing was heard of him since... almost suspicious lol

Find it on Android's Playstore... Craig's Battery Saver ROOT

How it works..... read on
How it works, if you're interested!
2 things use up battery power
1. apps that are CPU intensive, eg constantly repeating to connect (this would only happen under malware, as most apps would never do this, it would see the socket it closed/dead and stop and wait until user input, malware would constantly reconnect.. but 99/100 apps will just stop and then do nothing meaning all genuine apps should 'idle' not really using up cpu time....
2. Hardware services, bluetooth, mobile data, wifi, gps, these services are all hardware, so your cpu will switch on each of these services and each one has a significant drain on your battery, go bed at 11pm, by 9am it may have drained 30 - 40% or more... with this app, it will have drained under 1 - 3% depending on your battery (tablets for example should run for days with this app if rooted)
So this app does 2, it first remembers which hardware was on before the screen goes off, so no confusing switch wifi on when wifi's already on (as i've seen on other apps?!) reason why i wrote this because all the other apps i came across sucked really, almost but not quite etc etc..
With this tool, if you're a light user you could quite easily see 60% battery improvement! the bonus side affect of this app is also interesting, for 1, it charges quicker! if you accidentally fall asleep, it will conserve as much power as possible, obviously sms,telephone/mobile network is still running in the background so you can't completely stop a device from draining...
the other bonus side affect was, it kills dead all facebook notifications, twitter, well it would as it disables wifi, modem. 3g, bt when the screen goes off! :good:
1 more feature, if you drop your phone? then what?... take where's my droid, i sms it asking for location... it replies "GPS OFF" and "modem off" simple, send the text message to your phone with "on" without the " " around on, and the app will disable itself so it does not switch off the services and then at the same time it enables Wifi, Modem Data, Gps, Bt pretty useful huh... then on where's my droid, you'll get GPS combined with AGPS data from mobile data giving you pin point accuracy, as soon as you get the data of where it is... type in
off (to turn this feature off) or
on (to turn on all your services)
It also disables itself taking calls...
It has a smart check feature too, let's say after you switch the screen on and for some reason wifi failed to switch on ? after 3 seconds it will then check again to see if wifi is indeed on... if it's not on, it attempts to switch it on again...
Feedback is greatly appreciated so i can support a larger range of devices.... thank you for reading! (Suggestions, welcome!)
So basically what your device is and what's not working (along with build version, lollipop/kitkat etc) and i'll see if i can find a way to add it in to support your droid! - one more thing, i've been releasing updates like a crazy woman collecting cats lately and even though it does all this it's only supporting "Extreme power saving option" come tuesday i hope to have that sorted out so that every few minutes it can wake up to check for twitter/facebook messages for all of those who hate the sound of a phone being blissful quiet
if you're rooted and it does not look like that in the video [top of screen] (not the interface, but the services, i've already updated the UI)
anyway, help me to make it better for you...
One more thing, there are no push notifications, no popup adds, no huge banners, all my apps have one tiny advert to help support the countless hours of programming i'm putting into this apps, with each upgrade i aim to make them more stable and more usable, and i really need peoples help and support even if that is criticism - it's "beta" but i'm almost ready to bring it out after i add the wake up services....
Nobody has a rooted device?
Unlike other battery savers... it really does work
Hello guys,
For years (since I bought my first Android phone) I've asked myself: "Why the heck these smartphones can not turn on at a given time, as did my old java / symbian phones?!?!?!. Man, its a must-have feature, for those like me, that use the phone's alarm clock to wake up every working day! With all my old non-android phones, I could simply turn the phone off and let it "sleep" over night, saving A LOT OF BATTERY JUICE!
But unfortunately, when I bought my first android phone (in 2009), I simply "learned" that, tecnically, it is "impossible" to make it fire an alarm when it is powered off. I simply took it as an undisputed truth, and resigned myself from trying to find a workaround, because the apps on Play Store that claim "auto power on/off" don't REALLY do it, they just make the phone a little bit more battery-friendly over night by disabling phone calls, wifi, bluetooth, etc., but they DONT POWER THE PHONE OFF. Yeah, its better than nothing, but it is NOT like it was on symbian phones.
Then, I bought my Lenovo Vibe K5, and... SURPRISE!!! In the stock rom's Settings pannel, there is a new option that let the user configure the phone to auto power on/off at a given date/time!!!! Then, I asked myself "why on eart this feature is not available on other Android Phones?!?!?!?!
- Edit: I know that, tecnically, to be able to turn a phone on automatically, the phone can not be completely off (the battery needs to be in place and with some juice available - duhhh!!!). I know that it needs a triggerer (in other words, something like a computer's bios), but the fact is that my K5 Stock Rom really starts the Android system from boot. I wrote this because there are a lot of "experts" out there who uses to blame those who ask for this feature, saying that it is an impossible thing to accomplish, and bla-bla-bla...
Back to subject: Fact is that, because of this feature, I became even more fond of my K5: it powers off at night, saves battery, powers back on at morning, and fires the alarm. Sweeeet!
But unfortunately, after installing the AOSP Extended Rom, I noticed that this feature is gone. To be fair, it's a rock-solid rom, that I recommend to every K5 Plus user - but I really miss the feature (hey, rom developers, what about it?)
Before I decide if I do or do not reverse to stock rom, I ask you guys:
Why on Earth isn't the auto-power on/off feature available on all Android Phones?!?!?!?!
Edit 2: Sorry for my bad English.
Edit 3: To moderators: Sorry for posting in this category. Feel free to change this thread to the "Qhestions & Answers" thread.
Well, that feature isn't exactly needed anymore. Android's Doze features make sure the phone doesn't lose a lot of battery when left unused for long periods of time. If you lose more than ~5% of battery juice overnight (when it's already below 90%) on Marshmallow or Nougat, that's something to worry about.
Of course, you can turn Airplane Mode on every night and turn it off when you wake up, or write a script to do it for you, if you want to get the best out of your battery life. The "auto power on/off" feature existed in the stock ROM because of popular demand, and I doubt it's that important a feature to people using other phones and ROMs.

Android's since Marshmallow takes care of idling sleep. (see Doze mode: https://www.bignerdranch.com/blog/diving-into-doze-mode-for-developers/)
If you have high drain during idle, you probably have an issue with wakelocks preventing your phone to sleep (i.e. enter Doze).
Naptime's great if you want to make sure the go on Doze early, and to make sure it's reapplied after waking up.
