Using Unlocked UK Desire in Turkey? - Desire General

Im going to Turkey for 2 weeks at the end of august and would like to use my Desire to log on the net check emails and stuff, but i dont want to use my Orange SIM as roaming data is expensive!
My phones unlocked so im guessing i could just buy a turkish pre pay SIM to use my phone, but im not sure what the turkish networks are like? do they have 3g? do they support internet on a prepay SIM? ive also heard if you buy a SIM over there it only works for a few days till it gets cut off if your not using a Turkish phone?
Or is there a UK operator prepay SIM i could use that has cheap data while abroad (if such a thing exists?)
If anyone has any ideas id welcome the input.

You can buy a prepaid SIM from Turkey. All operators have 3g and also prepaid internet services. After you buy prepaid SIM, your device will be registered turkey network. Vodafone Turkey provides the cheapest internet services in Turkey.

Can confirm it works in Turkey. I always use Turkcell when I'm there.

Thanks guys, all i need now is a coverage map of Dalyan (the place im staying) so i know what network to choose!

IPAC 910C & T-Mobile

I have the HP IPAC 910C and use it with T-Mobile while in the USA with no problems. However, while traveling internationally, it does not work. International roaming is activated on my account, but so far i have not been able to get a signal. I tried to use while in Japan and South Korea. According to T-Mobile Customer Service, only in Canada and Mexico is international roaming available with rep-paid accounts. Is there a programming trick or application available to over come this obstacle?
Thanx for any help!!

If you have any friends with 'other' data carriers, you can try their sim card in your 315..
you'll have to create an APN for a different carrier.
IF it does work..... then it's sim unlocked..
Then when you get to Australia.... and choose a new data sim... there will most likely be New APN setting for that particular sim.
good luck

VZ LG G4..will this work in Europe?

Hi Everyone,
I am traveling to Europe and want to use a local carrier sim (Vodaphone) in my Verizon LG4...is this possible by just switching the sim and the setting to GSM?
Excuse me if its a silly question, I just dont have any idea....
It will work as you described, just don't expected to get much in terms of LTE. But UMTS (HSPA+) will work just fine.
It worked for me in the UK with EE a couple months ago, but like konradsa said, I only got HSPA+. Not the fastest speed, but was still plenty for my visit.
thank you both for your replies, did yuo have to add the APN information?

Help with Nexus 5X

I ordered an unlocked brand new Nexus 5X through my uncle from US. I got it today when I put my SIM inside it, it reads it but says no service. I went to my local carrier office but they don't know what the problem is my sim works fine in another phone. please help.
P.S My friend ordered one too we both have the same problem and I live in Pakistan.
why are you ordering US versions instead of the international version?
Enter the APN settings in manually for the carrier you are using.
I am using US version in Bangladesh perfectly...
From Cellular Networks settings change 'Preferred network type' to 2G and see if it works.
Try any other operator's sim.

Question Can I enable eSIM on Watch while having phone without eSIM?

Hi guys,
I am living in non-supported country according to Google however, I managed to get German eSIM and my original, local eSIM.
Just then I've realized that all tutorials about attaching eSIM to watch requires my phone to be attached to it first, but OnePlus 9 doesn't support it... so... do you happen to know any workaround for it?
It is not dependent on your phone having an eSIM. But what you need to have is a SIM in your phone from a supported carrier: https://support.google.com/googlepixelwatch/answer/12652073
Else you won't have the option to install the eSIM on your watch. You just need it for scanning the QR-Code for your watch, then you can insert your original unsupported SIM into your phone.
I have the same setup. Oneplus 9 Pro. Orderd a Vodafone UK SIM on Ebay and with it in my phone installed the eSIM from my carrier on my watch. Only problem i can't edit the APN on the watch and the APN from my provider isn't recognized by default. So i have no LTE data on the watch, just calls.

so you think I can have 2 different numbers from supported carrier (1 prepaid, 1 esim) and then load 1 esim from my local carrier? I mean, I insert 1 prepaid from supported carrier, than load esim from supported carrier, than replace supported esim with local esim? Or I am one step too far?
also, what do you mean by "i can't edit the APN on the watch and the APN from my provider isn't recognized by default". What APNs watch has saved?

I live in Hong Kong. If the Vodafone UK SIM can't roam here, do you think it will work?

Yes you can load a "phone esim" on the watch. But it has not been tested for very long.
You only need to insert supported carrier sim in your phone then you can load your local carrier on the watch. No need to load the supported carrier on the watch first. If your carrier sets APN automatically by just inserting sim-card in your phone the watch supports it. If your carrier makes you setup APN manually on your phone you wont get LTE to work on the watch only calls and text will work.

I got a Vodafone UK SIM today. And I found it can roam to my region (Hong Kong). And I made my eSim from a local carrier work on my Pixel Watch.
I think it won't work if the SIM can't roam to your region because the option to scan QR code didn't appear until the Vodafone SIM connected.

For me it didn't need an active connection on the Vodafone SIM. How i understand it, is that it even works if the SIM isn't activated at all but then you need to have another active Internet connection (WiFi).
Not all the supported carriers can activate the QR Code method, I tried the Softbank(Japan) sim(non-activated), and it just keeps connnecting to the Softbank server, so it failed. I will try the AU sim later.
And I have another sim from Taiwan Mobile which is also non-activated, it just went to the QR Code page without any problem.
Just got a Vodafone UK eSIM(€$ 8.5) from an online travel sim retailer on Shopee Taiwan, will try it on another Pixel tomorrow.
Also ordered a Vodafone DE sim from the same retailer too, waiting for delivery.
The Pixel Watch also support FeliCa, so you can use a Japanese sim + Google Japan account to add the Mobile Suica to Gpay in it.

It depends on the sim's ICCID, DE/UK is started with 8949/8944, I will know if they're goog or not when I get them.
Just make sure the sim is issued by Vodafone DE/UK, not from 3rd party roaming sim retailer, otherwise the ICCID will be different.
Update: the eSIM I bought in Taiwan is from Vodafone UK, the ICCID is correct and worked as expected
