I don't know the answer to your question, but isn't it easier to just try a different browser? Like Dolphin or Steel or Opera Mini?
Maybe one of those can do what you want
colon and port work on my phone stock browser
Thx Stafflover for your reply. I've opera mini & it works.

That is sweet browser. It works for me both Wifi and Cellular network.
I have been using for about a week. I had sporadic problems using Edge with LVWS Rom and now with the Cingular 2.0 Black Rom I have no problems.......so far
Thanks for posting this, works great. Have to say it makes reading the forum easier from my phone. Using it to post this reply.
yeah, must agree, except that it does not work on some sites, this browser is head and shoulders above the rest. Great for reading.
Great
This is a great browser - nice and slick.
Plus it seems to be better for viewing PDF's than any other viewer i've tried

Not just SEEMS to be better at viewing PDF's, it is faster and slicker than any other PDF software and everyone should install it for the PDF capabilities alone - it is a bonus that it is a great web browser and views files of many different types
I've tried to install/re-install the program in main memory and Storage card. But tried to launch the Picsel Browser - keep getting "Initialisation Failure". Can anyone help ????
Might make a good pdf viewer, but its a piece of sh*t for a browser...works, but too much funky zoom/pan bs.
I absolutely love this application.
has anyone tried to login to myspace with this browser? It seems that this browser cuts part of the webpage, the part where I would login !

Yes, you need to replace the current opera executable with that of the 9.7 install (rename the old one and give the new one the original name).

Have a look at the settings, if not in the menu settings than type opera:config in your address bar.

Yes, would also like to know how to get this working!!!
id also especially like to see the zoom bar working.
Also i'd like it so that when focus is added to the address bar it doesn't automatically open the on screen keyboard (in landscape) and the physical keyboard is obviously out as it's in landscape.

Movie Editor for Android (like iMovie)
Hello everybody,
I'm new to this great Device, and now i have a question:
Is there a Movie Editor App for Android that works on the Desire HD?
And with Movie Editor I mean not the online Youtube Editor!
Hope someone has the answer,

Hi,
Here I show you how to create custom local homepage for the stock web browser.
So, basically, when you start the web browser, it will load this custom web page.
This is very useful, for example: You can create quick shortcuts for all your frequent visit of websites.
(1) Download the attached "bookmark.zip" and put it in the a folder, for example \Download
(2) Extract the content, for example in \Download\bookmark
After this second step, you can access \Download\bookmark\bookmark.html
(3) Open the stock web browser, go to:
Settings --> General --> Set homepage
(4) Choose "Other"
(5) Set to:
file:///sdcard/Download/bookmark/bookmark.html
Click to collapse
There you go!
You can modify the bookmark.html as you pleased.
bookmark.zip has been updated.
Disable page zoom added:
Remove the "initial-scale=1" in the bookmark.html as shown here:
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, maximum-scale=1, user-scalable=0"/>
There is already a most visited sites option in the browser so I'm not too sure why I would want to do this?
Admittedly this isn't really needed, but is quite cool. I've just started learning html/css. So I will have a play with it later.
Sent from a phone that is not running ICS
Because this is the fastest way to get all your favorite websites!
Start the web browser and it is all there, right in front of you ... With all the thumbnails, ready to visit
There, two clicks you got the page.
Even better, when you go back by clicking the back button, you will see all those shortcuts again
Efficient ... Fast ...
And ... You can customize the way you want!
On the other hand, your way is too slow.
You need to start the browser, long click the back button, click the most visited, and you might need to scroll ...

Incorrect. There is a 'most visited sites' homepage you can assign in the settings. Plus if you want to talk about efficiency for certain sites why don't you just add a bookmark widget to the desktop?
i will try this.thank you
Right, you right about that most visited as homepage ...
But, the order can change at any time depending on your frequent visit. Also, I dont like the white background that consume more battery power.
With my way, I can have fixed loaction of thumbnails which for sure easier to navigate.
And because of that, we can have flexibility to arrange the thumbnails the way we want
Bookmark widget ... problem is that I must swipe to that home, and I dont like to clutter my launcher! Dont forget that widget consume more memory and might slow down your launcher if redraw is required!
So, still, my solution is better, faster, more flexible

Alright you win . Have you tried allowing the table to use 100% instead of defining the number of pixels?

Hi,
See the attached screenshot.
Do you know how to format the <table> or use CSS so it will utilize the whole screen?
I set the <table> width to 720px but that does not help.
So, please please please ... if you are HTML/CSS expert ... help us!
Thank you

Is this what you mean???
<table> width 100% does not work.
But, I found it ... We need to prevent "zoom" which can be done using this:
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1, maximum-scale=1, user-scalable=0"/>
bookmark.zip has been updated in the first post.

Updated, remove the "initial-scale=1" in the bookmark.html as shown here:
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, maximum-scale=1, user-scalable=0"/>
This will give you the correct view

Hello, maybe you should give an example of page with link that do not work ...
The link would be for something thatbis frowned upon by this website if you get my drift.... As in a d f l y websites

Maybe some "weird" redirections on those website generating potential "infinite loops"
that are stopped by "smart" browsers to avoid "bouncing"
The url you see on your address bar is not always the "true" url you're going to.
Some paremeters can be "hidden" (POST) and can cause some other behaviours.
That's what make you think the url is correct if typed directly.
If you were browsing those links recently without problems,
it looks like more of a website issue/modification than an HOX issue ...
