Bluetooth stereo headset for HD2?

I am looking to buy stereo bluetooth headset for HD2. I want earbuds, not over the head. Sony Ericsson ds980 got my attention, and also cheaper models like Plantronics Pulsar 260 and Sony DRBT100CX, but ds980 is my first pick so far.
Can anyone point me in right direction?

I have a Magic and I am using this: Bluetooth Nokia BH-214.

Back then I was using HBH-DS970, great sound and good bluetooth performance but the plastic mesh sleeve covering the lanyard part going to the receiver "shrinks" after a few months, exposing the actual wire cables in a "pulled-out" state. If the HBH-DS980 has the same mesh sleeves, I wouldn't recommend it for you.
An alternative is HBH-DS205 which I had next. It has more stable bluetooth connection and longer battery life than DS970/DS980 and its older brothers, DS200 and DS220. Though it doesn't come with in-ear set rather with a standard Bass Reflex earphones, but you have the freedom to use any earphones in the market that has 3.5mm jack. Its only drawbacks are, one, the LCD functions only as a battery/pairing-mode indicator and it doesn't lit up, two, it only has one slider control for both volume and skip track function. But for me it was a good trade-off since it's more convenient to use.
Another alternative choice is the one I have now, a Jabra BT3030. It has complete function controls for music and calls, comes with decent 3.5mm in-ears, and has two options for wearing it, either it be by lanyard or by clip-on. Only drawback I can think of is that it has no screen, which is in my opinion better as LCD screens only add up to battery consumption. Another bonus is that it comes with microUSB port and charger, which you may use to charge your phone with and vice versa. Though these chargers have different ampere output and not entirely recommendable to interchanging use, its a good feel having similar chargers amongst your gadgets, especially when situations that you need them most arise.

also have a pair of altec lansing 903 - also good sound (not as good as the S9) but better comfort

I've been using Moto S9s and love em. Great while I'm working out and controls are simple and easy to activate.

You want the best, then you should buy a Sennheiser MM450 Travel. It's kinda expensive but it has the best sound in the market.

Anyone got any idea what the Sony Ericsson MW600 headset is like? I've got an HD2 and been tempted for a while but reluctant to pay £40 before I find out about them and if they work ok with the phone.

How about somethine like this Sony DRBT100CX seem like what you are looking for. Or the Nokie BH-214. Also, Bluetrek Duo and LG HBS-110

Hi Guys, is anyone using the JVC HA-W700BT with their HD2. I need to know if it's fully compatible with the HD2 as I know many of you are having compatibility issues with HD2 and Bluetooth Headsets.

I'm pretty unsure as well. I dont think I want the motorola s9 cause I just dont want a pair of headphones... I've been looking at the Jabra BT8010 and the Altec Lansing Backbeat 903. Both are basically double bluetooths that still have the mic in your ear.
The Jabra's second earpiece detaches which is nice when you just want the BT part in your ear.
But I've heard the 903's earphones fit much nicer in your ear and the strap around the back is nice plus mic quality is suppose to be great.
On the other hand there are a couple units out there that are tabs that you wear around your neck that have a headphone slot...those are pretty nice...but I think I have my choice narrowed down to one of those two.
Just a final question has anyone used either of these two with a newer android device. I'm getting a samsung galaxy s and I'm hoping it works well with it.

Headphones with built in controls

Im used to using my iphone headphones with the built-in mix and music controls (lost them). Was wondering if any earphones with these features will work with the DX to answer/hang up calls and control the music player.
Im on my way to best buy for an unrelated purchase but would like to know what options I have before I get misled by a sales agent there.

I have the Motorokr S9. They are bluetooth. I really like them. I have been looking to upgrade and there are a lot more out since I first purchased. I would definitely do some research online before buying from Best Buy.
Update: I went out and upgraded from the S9 to the S9-HD. They are huge improvement from the old model. The sound is so much better. Battery life is still about the same.

I ordered them a few weeks before I got my DX cause I knew I would need some headphones. And was I pleasently surprised! These 26$ earbuds EASILY surpass the quality of my friends' $100 Bose and $60 Skull candy or w/e earbuds. Plus they are very well built, with a braided cord and a cell phone call start/end button. Oh and the color matches the droid x.
Try em out! I guarantee you won't be disappointed

The Beats line by the Doctor has Control Talk, which may or may not work completely with Android (leaning towards may not). I believe only the pause
and volume control work, not the next/prev track. Not cheap though. I'm looking at getting the Gaga's for my sister. They better tuck her into bed at
night too for $130!

I want the beats sooooo bad. Can't justify that kinda $ though.

+2, I've had mine since I had my old 6700, they work great.

I'd also +1 the S9HD's if those blasted ear bud pieces weren't so prone to falling out and getting lost while being transported in a pocket or getting pulled out of a pocket (I can't use them any more b/c this happened to all 3 sizes of ear buds, and I have yet to find a way to purchase replacements w/o buying the entire headset again).
I have a set of rocketfish over-the-ear BT stereo headphones w/ music and call controls. They work quite well and though they take some adjustment on my head due to me wearing glasses, they are also fairly comfortable..... and they're not at all as expensive as the name-brand motorokr's (motorola if you couldn't tell).

I agree, very good pair of earphones. Only catch is that the default music player wont pic up the control button. No big deal tho cause you got a nice widget on the lockscreen that allows u to pause, forward or rewind.
I got the Dr Monster Beats too but i THINK they are fake. Friend gave em to me, anyways, the v-modas sound wayyy better and have a very nice deep rich bass!
If you go to amazon you will read a lot of negative feedback, to be honest my v-modas still working just fine!

Apple is a terrible company, they make everything proprietary; they switched the mic and ground connectors so they could force manufacturers to make headphones that would only work properly on their bass-ackwards newer Apple products.

God, I hate Apple. Support Zagg for being nearly the only company in existence to recognize what Apple has done, and accordingly provided a product for everyone else with. Apple would do the same thing with Bluetooth if they could, but they don't own the Bluetooth standard, thankfully; which is why all your audio controls work on any Bluetooth-enabled device out there. (as long as it's not a really old one)

i have the in-ear beats. They are AMAZING. the controls don't work though.

The Nokia TRRS standard is what everything else uses, Tip = Left channel, first Ring = Right channel, second Ring = Mic/Control feed, Sleeve = Ground.
The Apple TRRS standard uses, Tip = Left channel, first Ring = Right channel, second Ring = Ground, Sleeve = Mic/Control feed.
Funny thing is Nokia started to use that TRRS layout well over ten years ago in Asia. Almost immediately China and Japan adopted it as an industrial standard and every phone manufacturer since has used it too.
Then Apple comes along years later, with all its infinite wisdom on how to do things that will alienate themselves from the rest of the market and switches the second ring and sleeve. So now the mic and controls for Apple headsets wont work with ANY other phone, and you can’t use any other headset with the iPhone unless it is Apple configured.
Things get even more complicated when apple decides to alter the amp setting for the output of their audio. This is even more interesting and dumbfounding: Apples headsets bass range can be driven at a much lower signal power, that means that you can still use the Apple TRS headphones for audio only (no mic, no controls) in any other device BUT you can’t properly use TRS headphones manufactured for the rest of the industries phones because they require a higher signal power to drive the low end. So if you try to use a standard set of headphones with an Apple device the bass will surely suffer. Those issues happen all the time with iPods because of the same configuration of the TRS standard.
With TRRS you get other issues caused by the signal grounding through the control buss, every now and then output from a song will bias a diode or transistor just right to skip the track or stop the song or do a whole slew of different and wacky things.
So if you ever see someone having this issue with a smart phone tell them to get non-Apple headsets.
If you see someone with an iPhone that’s having this issue, tell them to get an Android device. No, seriously though, tell them to get an Apple headset. Same thing goes if they are experiencing poor bass.
So it isn’t that there is only one brand making the correct headsets, its more like a few brands making headsets that only work with Apple. An easy way to identify the difference is Apples control standard is referred to as TapLine. Just buy headsets that aren’t TapLine or TapLineII. A vast majority of ALL the headsets on the market use the Nokia TRRS standard which is what everything other than Apple is configured for, you shouldn’t have any issues finding a headset that will work for audio and voice.
If you want to use Bluetooth, then you have a world of options for headsets, pretty much everything works. I like the MOTOROKR S305, inexpensive, uses micro USB to charge, and has FULL control, even with voice commands.
If you want to save your battery and use corded headsets with FULL control, then be prepared for disappointment. Right now the Droid X does not support phone controls through the headset command controls. You should still be able to control your music player (maybe, that is still a hit or miss), but if you want to answer and end a phone call then you only have the option of setting the phone to handsfree. With the phone set to handsfree answer and the headphones are plugged in, the phone will answer and you just have to allow the caller on the other end to terminate the call.

OK, I am confused with your post. You acknowledge that Apple does things differently and that Apple headsets won’t work on other phones, but then you list a link that is for an Apple configured headset. The description on the page states: “ZAGGsmartbuds music control for iPhone” and then contradicts that with: “Compatible with almost all smartphones with 3.5mm jacks” and then it states: “Some non-US smartphones, such as the Samsung i9000, have a unique jack configuration that requires an adapter for use with the ZAGGsmartbuds.” which is yet another contradiction because that phone is the Galaxy S Android phone that uses the Nokia standard. So the description on that page is pretty much saying that if you want these to work with anything other than an Apple device then you need to use a converter.

Headphone Discussion for your EVO!

Hey everyone,
Long time lurker, first time poster. I'd like to start a discussion on the various types of headphones that everyone has bought for use with their EVO (or other smartphone) and what their thoughts were - got any suggestions for EQ apps, settings for each type of headphone? Which ones work best for you? Which built-in controls are the most natural for you? etc etc etc.
So, I'll start.
The first thing I want to say is that I acknowledge there are a ton of places the audio could go sour between the original media (CD, DVD, blu-Ray, etc) to the final product coming through your headphones. The whole process will go like this for a typical user:
Buy CD
Import CD using audio program (iTunes/WMP/MediaMonkey/CDRip)
Put songs onto device
Listen to device with music app (usually stock)
Your mileage may vary (you may have your own custom extraction settings, bitrate settings, encoder settings, music apps, etc etc etc), but I want to focus on not necessarily the most accurate sound possible, but the most practical and "best-sounding-to-the-untrained-ear" sound. Personally, I have my own settings, and I have something of an affinity for music encoding and playback, but most of my friends are happy with Skullcandies (*shudder*)
So, after an extremely long ramble for the first, I'll tell you about my headphones:
1. Sennheiser HD280 Pro Over-The-Ear phones
These phones are great, and now sell for about $90 cheaper than when I bought them. They provide a nice sound, and even response using the stock app. I can adjust settings from DSPManager and they sound even better. However, as I've used them over the years, the sound has decayed slightly to become more "middy" and they don't have the original shimmer they had before. Also, they aren't very useful for travel, but they're great for listening at home with, although the big "pigtail" twisted cable looks strange hanging out of your pocket.
2. Klipsch Image S4 Enhanced Bass Earphones
A nice pair of in-ear headphones, they provide a colorful sound and nice overall response to a wide variety of music. They're a relatively cheap set of phones (probably for the holidays) and they sound great. Again, messing in DSPManager I can get an even better sound. These are very comfy headphones and look great, they feel great in the ear, provide nice isolation to keep the music in your ears and the outside out.
3. Sennheiser CX-300II-B Earphones
My favorites so far. I just got these a little bit ago at a bargain price ($30), and I haven't looked back. For being such small headphones, they provide a powerful punch and a great sound. They can take loud volumes with no distortion (until you add EQ). The fit is comfortable, they have a Y-shaped cord (so the right ear cable is longer than the left ear). They stay in place, and look great. They came with a nice magnetic case that keeps the buds safe and secure and super-portable for travel.
4. Sennheiser CX-300-B Earphones
I have these phones also, and they are almost identical to #3, just not quite as bassy.
I have some other phones, but they aren't worth mentioning (Apple headphones, skullcandies, and some other cheap ones). The sound just isn't good, even after significant modification with EQ and such.
For my music app, I use the "stock" app that comes with CM6.1 RC1, and I EQ with DSPManager. Lately, however, I've started using powerAMP (AWESOME APP - Look for it in the Market), the built-in 10-band EQ w/preamp is a must-have in music apps.
I know this is a lengthy post, just wondering if you all have any favorite headphones/music apps/eq settings for headphones?

Well my dilemma in using headphones is that I pretty much always need to be ready to take a call at any time and you can't take calls very well on stereo heaphones.
So, not being much of an audiophile I just pipe pretty lame music into my bluetooth headset using Super BT Mono software. It sucks for music but will do for talk radio.

I have a pair of Shure SE-115's. Didn't buy them, thankfully as the retail was around $130 at the time. Got them through a points system at work.
They are by far the best headphones I have ever had. I ride a motorcycle everywhere, and these are the only headphones I've ever had that can almost completely cancel out the sound of the bike at city to highway speeds.
They sound excellent in normal conditions as well. They have awesome bass and clarity, and they fit quite comfortably.

I have a pair of Shure E5Cs (I think they are called SCL5s now), a pair of Shure SE530s, and a pair of AKG k240s.

Can anyone recommend a a good pair of over the ear (not over the head) headphones with headset controls and a mic?

I loved my Shure E3Cs, but hated the cables. I really like my MEElectronics M11p+ set, especially the cables. The Shures may have sounded a touch better, but only slightly, and you can't beat the price especially with a coupon. Actually just won a set of their M6p phones, so I will see which ones I like better and keep the others as backup.

I use the M-Audio IE-30 and they sound fantastic on my EVO.

I use my Dr. Dre beats pro with the MIUI music app on my EVO, I have also sanded the back so it matches nicely with the evo and pros. I also have the 3500 mha battery from ebay with Calkulin's EViO 2 ROM v1.6.2 and I get over 25 hours with heavy usage and music and game playing. The Pros are about 400 dollars plus insurance and tax 500 from best buy. If you are rz member next Sunday they will be 350 during the special event sale. Hope any of this helps. [Q]"Best" Headset for Note?

Hi all,
I'm wondering what headset (Bluetooth/Wired) you use for your Note? I'm using Marshall Minor, but I still find the volume not loud enough.
Would any of you recommend something else? I live in Hong Kong which is fairly noisy, so something that has good volume would be great.

I haven't got a Note yet, but I use the Sony MW600 bluetooth headset with my HD2. And I'd be lost without it - best thing I've bought!
No problems syncing to the device, it has remote control (pause, next/previous), hands free talk as it has built in mic, and comes with in ear buds, which are very good indeed. They block out quite a bit of external noise too, but you can plug in any headset you want to it if you want to go to higher spec headphones. Battery lasts about 10 hours continuous use, and it will re-charge of your Note's charger.
I'm not an audiophile, but I do like music. And it does me fine.

Edit - Just had a look at the Marshalls, and these would offer a tighter fit in the ear then the Marshalls, so would block out more external noise. I wear mine in work, even if i'm not listening to music. I work in the print industry with loud machinery, and they are better than the ear plugs we get given, which reduce external noise by 27 dB. If I'm listening to music in work while my machines are running, and you want to chat - then you ain't gonna get through unless you're in my face!

That's a pretty sweet headset. How much does it stick out after you put it on? Does it get loose easily? I used to own a pair of the Sony is800 headset and it would fall out easily. I was wondering if this is the same.

using lg hbm-900 for voice calls and nokia for music. tried sennheiser and sony in-ear headsets but u cant listen music without closed earphones

My previous headset was the Sony Ericsson HBH-IS800
Compared to the Sonys:
- They seem to fit better in my ear (they come with 3 different bud sizes)
- The earbuds are slightly larger and so I guess they do stick out a little more, though I haven't noticed any issue with it
- An extra 2 hours of call/music time
- Have FF/RW controls as well as volume adjust (The Sony's only have Play/Pause/Answer)
- I haven't had any issues with people hearing me or me hearing other people when using them, but I've yet to test them somewhere really noisy
- They come in Red (if that's your thing)

Thanks for the comparison. How's the sound quality compare to the Sony?

I was thinking about this but didnt bother getting one once i saw the Note, not as big as the press would have u believe!
I was considering the NOKIA J - i has a small clipable dock so i wouldnt have to have it in the ear all the time...

Besides being a gadget phone nut I am also a sick buyer of headsets. I have been in search of the perfect headset forever ..
There is one by Sony that I love the way it fits. They don't make it any more and every now and then I find one on eBay ..
I have the Sennheiser bluetooth headset. If you look hard you can find one new on eBay most of the time for about $60 .. I like that one a lot because I have small ear holes and those go on the outside of your ear ..
I also have 2 Bang & Olafsen bluetooth headsets .. One left ear which I am keeping and the other right ear which I am gonna sell when I find it .. I also have the wired Bang & Olafsen head set. I read that it has a teeny tiny microphone somewhere .. I don't know if that is my model .. use it for listening to music ..
I actually have a box of discarded bluetooth headsets. I should put them all together in one lot and sell them. Maybe I will do that today. Don't know if I can find all the chargers though .. They are all discarded because I find them uncomfortable to wear.

For music or movies I use the Sennheiser M400s which have a nice balanced sound and good battery life. For calls, it's hard to go past the Plantronics Discovery 975 - small and sleek, super comfortable to wear, and really good battery life (especially with the included charging case).......

I can't wear anything that doesn't go around the ear. And if it goes in the ear, ugh. After a half hour I have to take it out because it gets painful. Maybe if I had bigger ears .. or Man Ears .. it wouldn't be so bad. They are doing hearing aid implants now, maybe they could do a little bluetooth implant ??

Any chance you can take a picture with the headset on? I want to see how it looks on and have an idea on how much it sticks out. I cannot find a pic or review anywhere for this headset.

the quality while talking is not the best but its enough for me.
Despite the positive comments about the quality of just listening to music, i can hear some "scratches" when a song gets "heavier". This is my first BT Headset so maybe its normal for BT headsets, or i just overlooked a setting i have to change in the Software.. Hint, anyone?

Do you have a budget in mind? I think we can offer better suggestions if you give us a budget range.
I use Sennheiser IE8 connected to a Sony/Ericsson Bluetooth receiver on the go, and a small digital analog converter/amplifier by NuFore together with the headphones when working.

Hi, thanks for replying. I do not have a budget in mind, my usual principle is to pay what's worth its salt.
So far, everyone's recommended bluetooth wireless headsets, I'm not a big fan of charging stuff, having need to recharge my phone nightly already. But if there are no better wired devices out there, I might as well get Bluetooth because call quality is more important to me than music quality which my Marshall Minor does just fine.

I'm looking for a $100 max wired in-hear headset with mike and very complete remote too. It seems Android is not very friendly with those at all, so I'm thinking I'll have to go Bluetooth. What I found:
- http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/mc2.html, if their software works on Note (untested)
- a-JAYS One+, coming in Dec.: http://www.jays.se/products/earphones/a-jays-one-plus.html (uses software too)
- Sennheiser just confirmed they have nothing wired.
- Klipsch: Image S4A http://www.klipsch.com/image-S4A-headphones being adapted for S2, Note = S2 ?
- Samsung: told me to go f... (...ind a solution by) myself
Soft: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.kober.headset , and others, look for "headset control". This one has a trial version, yeahhhh ^^

hi all... just like to pop a quick question:
does the Gnote able to accept the standard wired headphones w/mic from other brands for example: UE? i am on galaxy S and i have been searching for headphone w/mic to replace the original ones from samsung but as usual when i connect other brands of headphone w/mic to my S; all i can hear is the music.. whenever i am making calls the headphone fails me...

High End Earphones (IEM) with remote controls for SGS3

Hi Guys,
I'm not prepared to compromise any more on sound quality than I have to and I like to use good IEMs and MP3 players.
Recently, like the rest of the world, I've started to use my mobile phones as my daily audio driver more and more.
I’ve never had a serious pair of earphones with pause/play/RR/FF controls, this would be a godsend and I would like to know if there are there high quality earphones with this feature out there that actually work on Android?
I will use them with my mobile phones Galaxy Nexus & Samsung Galaxy S3

I'm also checking out the http://goo.gl/4jBfc as an option and I will be able to plug these into my Denon C710's but I cant tell just how much they will impact the sound quality.
I'm also talking about quality IEMS above the Beats by Dr Dre range or the a-jay One+ headphones.

I am an avid record collector. I think regardless off what we use we are still at the mercy of our dsp. Headphones become uncomfortable, while earbuds offer very little low frequency response. I downloaded an app simply called equalizer and use the LG HBS 700 Bluetooth headphones. Not bad for 69 bucks. Just another avenue.

I've opted for a custom iem - (JH Audio) which also comes with a cable with Mic and one button control. I'll pair that with the Jays Headset Control app and that will be job done.

Just to widen the choices the new T-Peos H200 comes with a secondary, single button mic equipped cable. You have to order them straight from T-Peos in Korea though, or though one of their online resellers.
A bit lower on the totem pole would be the cheapo yet good Brainwavz R1 or the upcoming R3.
The new Meelec twin hybrid might work too, but not so sure it has a mic or not.
Lastly the Belkin iPhone controller adapter works well without compromising much on the SQ side IMHO.

That's a good thread, thanks for the heads up.
I'm currently using the Etymotic HF2 which is listed on it:
The sound is clear but they really need a headphone amp to increase the volume which without can get lost to background noise when commuting.
I also had the Puresound ClarityOne (not listed on that thread) which developed a frayed cable after only 4 months.
The cable is thin and the connection point to the 3.5mm jack is the point of failure.
The customer service from that company was so ignorant I would NEVER recommend them to anyone to cough up over £100 on them.
I'm stepping up into the CIEM arena and see what the fuss is about.

I will have a detachable mic/single button cable with my CIEMs when they arrive which will also please me as they apparently will not have any discernable loss in quality.
