Hello,
Yesterday i rooted my T-Mobile phone and everything went well, today i found there is an update available for my phone 1.21.405.2.
I have downloaded the update a few times and when i select to install it get this error message...."an error occurred whilesaving your data to you sd card. the backup cannot be completed"
The phone then reboots and it looks like it is starting to update but then gets the red question mark and then boots up normally again.
I have tried 2 memory cards and i still get this message.
Anybody help me out please?
Cheers.

Have you tried to disable apps and data backup to the card?
I backed up my cards then formatted them again, i also uninstalled task killer and Memory booster.
Maybe you should reset your device and as soon as finished the first configuration try the update. I don't see why it shouldn't update unless there is something wrong with your previous Rom? If this don't work try to call HTC or manually update to another Rom, like a generic one?

Hello everyone!
I've got an issue with HTC OTA 2.2 upgrade.
My Desire is unbranded but was still running latest HTC 2.1 OTA.
On my scheduled upgrade check new version was discovered so I went for upgrade. Everything seams to went fine. The ROM file was downloaded, installation went fine until device booted for the first time. After reboot I've had spinning wheel and progress in %. Device was rebooting about 20 times as soon as it reached 93-97%. During that process I've received error message: system service error: FC or Wait. Finally after about an hour the system decided to start eventually but it was loading for about 10 minutes. Now system reboots randomly every 5-10 minutes. No network connections available, no bluetooth, no SD card access and still the same error message: Process system is not responding, FC or Wait. What I suppose to do now? Please for step by step guide as I'm quite a newbie.
I see your desire was running 2.1 OTA but was it rooted...??
No it wasn't. Well to be absolutelly honest it was rooted to install custom 2.2 ROM then unrooted to install HTC OTA 2.1. During the update the phone wasn't rooted. To make it even more odd I've tried to install RADIO rom but recovery-windows script is unable to connect to device. And last thing 3G internet is working fine but can't make any calls!

Have u tried a factory reset ?..
poweroff phone
hold volume down and press power
clear data ?
Yeap. I've done that. Still no luck at all.
I've also renamed downloaded ROM to update.zip and run recovery but the phone still acts the same.
I think that it's because I'm still running update not a new installation.
Is it possible to use this ROM to perform full brand new installation?
U need a goldcard and then use an ruu to downgrade ur phone

I'm just about to finish 2.1 OTA ROM download. So you reckon that the upgrade should be possible afterwards?
It might....
But I used a base WWE ruu.
Hope it does work for u... keep trying if not!

Update successful. Hell knows what was wrong. But to anyone who'll meet similar problem the solution is to install fresh 2.1 ROM and then upgrade it.
Thanks for all your help!
Worked for me too guys, thanks!
Looks like I'll be going to work in the morning now I have an alarm clock again..
Quick backstory, I tried flashing CM to my S3. Couldn't tell you the build number atm, but it was stable release and I double checked that it was for the correct phone/carrier. CM flashed fine, but had me stuck at the Cyanogenmod load screen. I don't have internet at home right now, and am working 7 days a week, typically for 12 hours. So for about 3 days I was soft bricked, because my CWM recovery couldn't mount my internal sd (where my backup was).
At the next opportunity,I managed to install MOAR rom for my phone. Boots up fine, everything is working, but I have the "No sim card inserted, emergency calls only" on my lock screen (or something to that effect). I can still make calls, text, mms, and even browse the web. However,I don't seem to have 3g or 4g capabilities anymore. My next step would be to re flash the stock Rom, which I have, but fails to install due to the inability to mount the internal sd. It flashes fine, but boots into recovery mode and gives me a bunch of errors about unable to mount e: etc..
I was able to salvage some of my CWM recovery and can restore the system and boot partitions, but my data was corrupted. Even so, doing that still leaves me with the SIM error and no visible mobile data connection. I'm truly lost as to where to go next, any advice is appreciated!
Edit: The only unusual thing I've noticed is my ICCID is listed as "unknown". Not sure if that is helpful!

Watch this video so you can put your phone back to stock and wait 24 hours afterwards so all of the factory updates can be reinstalled on your device and then re-root and reinstall your favorite rom. http://qbking77.com/how-to-unroot/unroot-unbrick-the-samsung-galaxy-s-iii/
At my next available opportunity I hopped online and downloaded the stock Rom over. Re flashed to stock and waited for updates, everything seems to be good now. Re rooted and no issues so far, only just slightly hesitant about putting another Rom on it. Did a full backup of stock non rooted beforehand though, in hopes to avoid another disaster.

I should mention that this phone is not mine and it was brought to me to fix. It could not get past the samsung bootup animation screen.
So I installed TWRP 2.8.6.0 and wiped everything. Then the first rom I flashed was [ROM][5.1.1][AOSPA] ParanoidAndroid 5.1 (5/21/2015) Then flashed gapps 5-22-15 from euroskank/banks. I wiped dalvik & cache (Is this necessary?) and rebooted.
The intro screen did not let me skip the wifi connecting part (I thought it was a bug in that version) and it told me to turn on wi-fi to connect.
So I tried the same thing with the version before that and it let me skip. After that I managed to turn it on once? But it the phone crashed and soft rebooted.
I tried other 5.1 roms and the wifi doesn't work still. It doesn't let me turn it on. Same with 4.4.4 with cm11. Also, the Wi-Fi MAC address says unavailable. Don't think that's supposed to happen?
Does anyone have a fix?
Edit: I took out the SIM card to see if that did anything. Then all of a sudden the grayed out On button turned blue and wifi networks appeared... But I couldn't do anything else since it made me restart. It stopped working after a reboot :/ Tried it several more times and couldn't get it to do the same thing..

Hope you had read the posts, it should had said the Rom is not "stable"
If your friend are going use their phone for daily driver, then I recommend you not have the 5.1 Roms for now because it's not really suitable for that right now.....
I'm not sure the CM11 you have flashed is unoffical or is offical. Offical onces are still work in progress and have most of the things broke (I think)
Here is a Kitkat Rom for SGH-T989
If your friend really wanted to have a Lollipop running on his/her phone, then I will recommend this one. Make sure you read the instruction CAREFULLY if you do wanted to install this one since it's a bit complicated with it's "virtual partition"
Or, if you wanted it to be just stock. Odin it back to normal, here is a instruction (with video too).
This is all the possible way to fix your friend's phone that I can think of, if you have encounter any error or have anymore question, feel free to reply :fingers-crossed::good::highfive:
P.S: yes, wiping dalvik & cache is a way to prevent any error caused by another old Rom if you decided to flash a new one. It's a good way to prevent error during Rom flash process
Thanks! I'll try the 4.4.4 rom you sent me. I'll post an update when I get to it.
Uh and about the 5.1 you linked. For the virtual repartition part in his post, I couldn't open the phone's internal storage on the computer after formatting it to ext4. So I'm confused about that step.

For the virtual partition, it's best for you to have it on the External SD card. Since TWRP transporting file to Internal Storage after that seems bugged (not working)
I recently backed up my Sprint Galaxy Note 2 which is on 4.4.2 I used CWM Recovery to back it up to my external SD card. My phone has been flashed to Boost Mobile for about 2 years with no issues. No LTE but 3G is just fine. Yesterday I wanted to try lollipop after the clockwork mod backup. Well... I didn't like it and decided to go back to my original stock rom. I restored the phone using the backup that I had created on my ext. SD with CWM According to Clockwork Mod recovery it all went ok but when the phone full booted up, I started to IMMEDIATELY see various error messages. The 1st was "Unforunately, Maps has stopped" (showed 2 options... "Report" and "OK". I pressed "OK" . Then the same error poped up for several other apps. Then I get "unfortunately, google partner setup has stopped. THEN... the I get THIS over and over again... "Unfortunately, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" and I press OK. ALL of these errors pop up in less than 1/2 second. I can't even get into the phone without pressing a button in between each message and that just speeds up the error messages. I tried installing 4.4.2 again but it just erased all my data and user info. I even tried an advanced restore from CWM Recovery and only the data, same problem. Is there anything I can do to retain my Boost Mobile flash, all my internal files and just repair 4.4.2?
Thanks in advance!!
I would suggest to Odin back to factory and just start over bro. I've had that issue and it was the only way i could fix it was to start fresh.
Hi guys,
I started a thread about this about a week and a half ago but it seems to have disappeared so I start from the beginning.
After installing Cyanogenmod 13 on my One M8 I left it for what it was and only updated the nightlies as they came. After installing the "wrong one" I got the No sim card, No Service error and was told over here it might be solved by updating the baseband and asked me for the version I had at that time. After looking at it I found out that it was (and still is) unknown.
I decided to wipe the entire phone and start from scratch.
So........The saga contunues. Since I am not a mobile phone guru I looked up the right way to install Gaps. Today I installed the latest Nightly (cm-13.0-20160330-NIGHTLY-m8) rebooted the phone, activated the developer options and turn on the debugging function.
Right after that I installed Gaps and wiped both caches, rebooted the phone and s**t hoit the fan. Now I can't use the phone because I keep gettting a pop up telling me "unfortunately, Setup Wizard has stopped". I can press OK but it keeps popping up.
What is going wrong here? I have tried many ways, versions of Gaps and about 5 different nightlies. And, If I can manage to fix all this, is there anyone who knows where I can get the file(s) to update the baseband? Don't know if this of any help but my HTC One M8 is unbranded and is a Dutch one.
I hope there is an explanation and a solution to solve this.
Thanks in Advance!!
