For wi-fi ..
My university wi-fi network uses "Enterprise" security and this is employed by installing a .p12 file (wich is esentially a packed file with a user certificate, root certificate, and private key) generated by the sys-admin.
When going in Security and you go to install the certificate from the file on the sd card, everything went smooth for the first time. It connected to the network, got some speed tests working, everything was ok.
After 1 day, I came back and tried to acces the wi-fi again. The wi-fi manager and the setting dialogue said just : "disconnected" .. connecting to the network ..and then "disconnected". No, the wi-fi network is just as it was when it worked, talked to the admins they did not change/update/modify anything. My MAC was entered
I deleted the whole credential thing, reset passwords , reinstalled .p12 files, to no use. It just will not connect again to the same network.
At home works fine, I enable wi-fi, detects my network and connects just fine.
And another weird thing: when you clear the credential manager, to uninstall the .p12 file it does not spit back on the sd card the .p12 file. When I installed it, the file vanished from the SD card, but when I reset the credentials it was lost for good... Kinda dumb ...
And if your wi-fi admins issue you with some .cer or .der files, they are ok, you just need a linux machine with "openssl" command to extract, combine & so on and then create the .p12 file that the HTC Desire understands. If you google .pam to .p12 or .der to .p12 or .cer to .p12 you will get through (eventually, and with less brain cells !!!!! ).
And the question is:
any idea what happened ? Is there any way to somehow deeper-reset the wi-fi connection certificates ? (don't want to reset my phone)
I tried installing certificates from another user, same error... I used the Root certificate from another user, the client certificate from me.. all kinds of combinations ... nothing .. "disconnected"..
nobody ?! :|
oh come on ...
I'm guessing nobody knows the answer =\
Your best bet would be HTC's support.

Hello,
My 9090 has been changed, and I reinstalled everything.
I get from time to time a message "Notification error" "Impossible to execute My Documents\Data\pCTimer.exe".
Has someone got this file, in the same folder or one else ?
Where should it come from, and what's the use ?
Thanks for your help.
Jean-Jacques
I really dont know what is that.. but sure you can try to backup and delete the file from Windows\Startup
The fact is I miss this file, there is no data folder in My Documents
Anyone who has got the file PCTimer.exe, how did you ?
Feel free to send a link or any info.
Jean-Jacques
Did a hardboot and reinstalled.
Data folder dtill missing, but no more warning. 8)

Some program was at some time installed into your "My Documents\Data" directory, and added itself to your notification database. You've since removed the application, but the removal didn't get rid of the database entry, which is why you were getting this error.
You could have gotten a utility like Anoton Tomov's Pocket Mechanic (Look at http://www.antontomov.com), which would allow you to look at all the entries in the Notification database and even remove the offending entry.
This would have saved you hard resetting your device.
I've had a similar problem with eWallet 4.0 installed on my SD card, where I'd get an error like that if my XDA shut off before I closed eWallet.
Hi,
I'm experiencing problems with PocketIE.
Simply it doesn't not load pages: as soon as I tap Go or I give Enter, it says "Connecting..." in the bottom bar, then 0 KB, then nothing again, and does not load anything!
It simply stays idle on the default home page!
Every other application is able to use my internet connection.
Any suggestions
Ciao, ErMeglio
Looks like you have a connection issue: problem is not PocketIE, but your PDA don't connect to internet.
Just to be sure, try istalling other browsers: OperaMini, etc. I bet, other browsers will not connect, too.
Try to check internet connection

This happened to me when i imported my config XML using advanced config.. the only way to fix it is to hard reset i think.
I discovered this because I wanted to install signed OperaMini in my own language as I always did: downloading from IE by Mobile. That's the only way to get it signed, since suggestions I found on other threads didn't work(MANIFEST modify).
The fact is this situation is after an HR and Internet works perfectly: WLM is listening "as items arrive" and so my Exchange email set in Active Sync.
BUT, this is also after me messing with SDConfig.txt...I've set all my usual apps and some xml and this:

actually makes sense.Infact one of the XML I make SDConfig.txt import is the one exported from AdvanedConfig, just after my personalizations. I don't remember if I did import it again by the app another time after HR, but I don't think so. Did you try importing it differently(SDConfig, other apps)? I'd like to understand if it's the xml itself, or the importing from the AdvConf app.
I've just noticed that the index file of IE cache (on sd according to my xml) is somehow "locked": I can't delete it. It could be IE can't write there too.
I'm doing a complete loong scan disk of my Micro by Windows Vista (even if I never had a problem, it always complains about corruption, so let's try and see what Mr. Bill can do )...then I'll delete cache from pc and try again...
I've much to learn to get my SDConfig work in all its parts
@abusalza
Yes, I'm using PDACornerPro.V22 but posted separately because this issue was not there at first, so it's -99%- sure it isn't your rom's fault, thanks for interesting
As soon as I get everything working through SDConfig, I'll go for final v23, I see you're uploading
[UPDATE]
Ok, just did the scandisk and it found 450MB of damaged files! I really don't know where and how, but I deleted the so-big FOUND.000 directory it made and didn't really understand where all that stuff came from.I deleted any file into IE's cache dirs too but no luck with IE, same matter.
Will flash V23, make SDAutoRun do its duties and see...
If it's confirmed to be an AdvConf matter, why don't we discuss it with Schap?
Well, just to let you or someone who comes here later know how this story finished, I found which was the matter!
With AdvancedConfig I changed the Application Data directory and moved it to storage card.
Seems IE didn't like that tweak: I simply changed it to \Application Data again and woilà, IE started working
Thanks for pointing me to the solution
Ihave Same Problem But When I Using Rom Wm5 With Original Cingular Ie Work Fine But When I Upgrade To Wm6 Or At&t, That Happen Again, I Try Install Opera It's Work Fine
Hello,
My uni requires use of a certificate (in cer, der or pem format) in order to use the wifi. I've done some google research but haven't been able to find a successful method of getting the certificate installed. Renaming the files to a .p12 and importing from sd card asks for a extraction password, which doesn't seem to be the certificate store password that you can set.
I was wondering if anyone had had any luck on 2.1 and had any tips...
I had the same issue. I tried to by-pass by using mschap in the configuration screen, and it worked.
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
I managed to install the certificate by using this neat little online tool:
Search for the Realmb droid cert online installer.
Edit: After being a reader of these forums for 2 years I don't seem to have enough privileges to post a useful link, crazy!
I can now see it in the certificate list when adding the network but the real test will be when I go into uni!

You need the certificate in PKCS#12 format. I don't know if renaming a X.509 certificate to .p12 will do the trick.
You need to copy the certificate to the SD card and then use "Install from SD card" in Settings -> Security.
The password it asks for when installing is the certificate pass-phrase and not the "Credential storage password".
I use a digital certificate and EAP-TLS for WiFi with no problems.

Hi all,

Hi,
Exist some Explorer of Isolated storage thats run without Zune or
Windows developers tools ?
Thanks for advice.
hi
you use a htc device, so you can install the htc root webserver xap.
read this post and try it. it's really simple to use.
you will have access to isolated storage, too.

Nice looking app, but If I can't connect to wifi how to connect to ISOLATED storage ? Works it also if I connect my device via microUSB cable to PC ?
Thanks.
hi
no at that time, it works only via wlan. you can put in the usb-cabel and a ip is showing up, but you can't connect to this ip.
steps to do:
open the webserver app on your device
in the app change the password in one of yours
connect to the showing ip adress in browser on your computer
type in username and password
have fun, the rest is self explanatory!

ok, if I cant connect to wifi the web server is for me
useless solution.
But I found out something else watch this: I got HD2
my microSD card is 8GB. There are 2 partition one is something 7.5 GB
and second this is important is FAT16 200MB.
I installed new FileBrowser and in this app I can see folder Storage Card
and I am able to copy files on this FAT16 partition without problem
and I can read it in card reader and oposite if I copy something in card reader
to FAT16 I can copy it from this "Storage Card" folder in device File Browser and copy it to device.
Shame that It works only on devices with Storage card.
Thats why I love my HD2, Igot WP 7.5 and microSD slot
My Wifi is for good reasons on channel 13. Which is perfectly legal here. My H815 (root) refuses to connect to it unless it checks my location, based on what country my simcard (sic!) is from! Now my simcard seems to be broken, it won't be recognized by the phone. Or the LG G4 is broken :crying:
As annoying as this is, now I even miss my cell signal AND my wifi signal. You could force Android devices to search on all channels for Wifi. AFAIK this was done editing /data/data/com.android.providers/settings/databases/settings.db Maybe this works in 5.1 the same why, which is why I need to edit this settings.db.
I tweaked this db just perfectly on my Nexus 5 with the app SQLite Editor (Go check it out its great).
On my LG G4 when trying to access the settings.db I always get the error: "The database is currently locked by another process. Try again in a moment or two" By the way: Android-System locksettings.db shows the same behavior.
When I copy the settings.db to /data/data/com.android.providers/settings/ I will get the same error for the COPY of a database!
I need to copy it to my external SD Card and THEN I can access the database. A directory I created on my internal storage /sdcard/Internal is fine to. Now I can open that database. But I do not see the live information + the access rights of that copied settings.db look strange. No owner anymore. ( I use ES File Explorer) I am afraid to edit it and copy it back to:
/data/data/com.android.providers/settings/databases/settings.db
Any idea why I can not access my /data/data/com.android.providers/settings/databases/settings.db ?
Hi,
I had the WiFi Problem when I bought the LG G4 but didn't insert a SIM card.
My WiFi is on channel 13 but it didn't show up on the smartphone.
I contacted the LG support chat. They said I have to insert a SIM card.
When I inserted my German SIM card everything worked fine.
But then I switched on airplane mode and got the message again that not all WiFi network will be shown due to the unkown location.
I see that you are also German.
You can find my (German) solution on android-hilfe.de
Title: "LG G4 WLAN Fix - immer alle Kanäle"
Or here in english:
WiFi Fix - always all channels on 2.4 GHz
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/wifi-fix-channels-2-4-ghz-t3183160
Did it work?
Just saw your post. It reads like a perfect solution! I will try. Dankeschön! [emoji106]
