hopefully easy Q. full page facebook app? - Desire General

i have the default HTC one, but it doesn't fill the window like the mail app does.
anyway to expand it, or an app that makes full use of the page?
page = homescreen or whatever it's called (it's early, i can't remember)

I have tried the full set of apps and in teh end decide that a short-cut to the touch version of teh web page (which I added to my home screen) was the best approach for me. Not only did I like the layout best but, more importantly, it seems to have better functionality than the apps I tried.

hmm, will check that out.
here's hoping a better facebook app comes out soon

TouchFlo 3d, as it should be.

Now I know touchFlo 3D isn't customizable (yet), but there are many difference's between the versions 2.1 and 2.5.
So what should TouchFlo 3D have? Since my immagination isn't so great and to keep it realistic my preferred version is a combination of what is available today:
Start screen with weather and apps/contact/bookmark/widget list like in TF3D 2.5.
The Contact list from the 2.5 version. Scrolling through you favorite contacts in the 2.1 version just isn't convinient.
The same message tab, but the message application from the 2.1 version. The 2.5 version has the option to instantly change you message in a mms. Also adding the contact you want to send it to isn't convinient. It comes up with email adresses. If I wanted to send an email I would have picked: write email. NExt to that the 2.5 version is slow when it comes to text messaging. (ofcourse the 2.5 version isn't ready yet).
Email as it is with both version. (in the email app, they should delete the wiping feature, because scrolling sideways is irritating have to press the "enable scrolling" text). Just put the option go to next/prvious message in the menu.
Calander app as in version 2.5. I noticed I didn't even use the other calander views then month and day, but the agenda view sometimes did came inhandy.
The internet tab should be as in 2.5, where you can see the preload pages, but it should work with opera. As nowe I am able to set opera as default, but the preload pages still don't work.
The weather tab is ok. I'd like to tap on the sepperate days and see the morning, day, evening forecast.
The music tab in 2.5 is great. The same for the media (video and pics) tab. But it's all just a bit to sloppy. It should be really fast to be convinient.
The stock tab, for me I don't use it. But it seems ok to me.
Ofcourse this all should work in landscape. 2.5 doesn't work very well in landscape.
One more feature I would like to build in is an easy way to make apps like twitter/facebook/gps navigation/office/messenger work withing TF3D. Each with individual tabs. Maybe you get to much tabs, but then there should be a way to make a second layer with apps. Like a messaging tab. When you slided over there a new slider comes a available with the general slider minimizing. There you can slide between skype/msn messenger/ twitter etc.
This would require a lot of memory though.
So what do you think?
What would make touchflo better? What features should be added?
the worst shortcoming of touchflo3d is that its desktop cannot be cusomized.
this is very pitty indeed, those designers are dumb....
I like your tab within tab idea. It would be great to have a PIM tab. Inside would be sub-tabs for calendar, tasks and notes. Probably just wishful thinking though. But anyway, I'm not terribly bothered with what we've got so far.

are folders for apps/games/utils possible?

Hey,
im trying to do a nice theme and what id ideally like is the option to have on the main page to have shortcuts to folders containing just specific items such as games/utils/general apps instead of linking to the full app catalog and having to sort through.
at the min im just using one of the main pages thats full of games and it looks untidy so id like to sort it out
cheers
Touch the screen for a prolonged period of time and it should pop up a menu with "folders" in it
As above or get Smart Shortcuts from the market....
or search for apps organizer in the market, this allows you to create folder and add any app you want to them. from there you can use these folders as widgets
there's this "folderorganizer" in market...... lite is free, but pay for full features...

Windows Phone 7 Custom HUB

OK guys, I am starting an new project. I will be creating an hub similar to the HTC Hub - however it can not be so similar that is a direct copy. Please let me know in here any requests you guys have. I will continue to update this thread as I progress. The end version will be a paid version, however I will lower the price during a set period of time so that those who contribute will be able to grab a copy for 99 cents and those who do a substantial amount of help will get it free - I will code a secondary system in an update if I can not do this on the marketplace the way I want to. I will clean this post up after a couple of days and skim through the thread for features requested and make a mock-up.
Note: In order to pass certification it will be required that the back button exits the app, I can over-ride this and allow an exit through a settings panel to disable /re-enable.
Awesome... count me in to try this bad boy out!
I will move this to SW development since this is an ongoing project, once this is close to an actual product, PM me and I will move it back. IE beta.

In this hub:
1. Allow to add our own weather widget or clock
2. Don't want fancy animation like the one in HTC, very annoying. Some minor animation or transition effect will do
3. Allow to category the apps with zune UI concept. Critical feature as I don't want to keep putting all my apps in homescreen tiles or the second screen list of apps which is getting too long now. Should have option to choose to display the apps as in tiles layout or list or icon.
4. Option to put wallpaper in Hub background, just like our picture hub.
great idea !hope you will do differently than in htc
!!
What is the purpose of the hub going to be? and how can the rest of us developers plug into it?
I'd like to see a weather animation, if windows' hub's being pinned to the homescreen. Furthermore it would be nice, if you could implement sth that enables us to change the tile's size again if pinned to the homescreen.
Another "innovation" would be from my point of view, if the windows hub on the homescreen would open "another" fully customizable homescreen, i.e. you have your regular homescreen and in case you feel it is overloaded you reproduce your applications within the windows hub attached to the regular homescreen that opens another homescreen, very much like the folder solution implemented with iOs 4. "screw me"?
Love to get my stocks on there also.
Thanks
Marty
its great idea bro, cant wait for this,it will change history of wp7!!!!!!
Thanks for the ideas so far, keep em coming.
I would like to be able to see sports scores as part of the hub.
I can't seem to find a decent app for WP7 that handles these.
not sure about the htc hub, but in the samsung equivalent, there is a section on latest news. i dont like this as there arent much im interested in but if you could have a built in rss reader in the hub, that'd be awesome.
I'd like to see a messaging widget like the one on htc's sense for android. I'm not sure if its implementable though.
Just retrieving the messages and displaying it on a sense-like interface will do.
Im just so bored of reading messages in the wp7's plain messaging environment
A hub replacement for HTCs...Hmmm...My vote..
1. Weather (stream lined, 5-10 day forecast with good but fast images)
2. News (RSS feed?, AP news/MSNBC/CNN, to be able to customize page, local/country/subject, etc)
3. Stocks
4. Sports Scores/Stats/standings, also to be able to see all scores but, follow a team/sport, I'd love to see tons of options here
5. Custom RSS section, so you can add a few web pages that offer RSS feeds.
Sounds like a great idea I'll be following this one...

Totally agree.
Also,
1. A comm manager? So it's easy to toggle radio/wifi/bluetooth on and off
2. A clock like HTC sense, with weather underneath (not the gay apps section which I don't use, if I want an app I use the market place or to launch an app I just slide right and down to the app I want to launch).
With all these ideas, They should be easy to navigate around, instead of creating hyperlinks, maybe make it so each page is a slide to the right, like the metro theme, this will look much easier and be much easier to use rather than using hyperlinks!
if you need something graphic,im in,just pm me
good project! if you want a people for translating in italian , contact me

One thing I would love... Make the "live tile" customizable by content.
For Example, during the day it could show weather based on GPS but, during a baseball game(or pick your sport), it will update with current scores on the second and a click of the tile during a game will bring you right to your sports page.
This could work the Same for a few stocks during trading hours but, one the market is closed, go back to a default of weather (an example)
Custom Content where you need it, when you need it.
I think when you click on the tile (AKA open the Hub) it should go into a Weather/Time/Wi-fi/blu-tooth settings/status... kind of a status page but, a flip will bring you to different content.
Just trying to come up with ideas for this. Hope this helps !

Habit Browser - New Customizable Browser

Does anyone else use this browser? I just discovered it today and I'm loving it so far. You're able to customize everything from toolbar buttons to the color of the layout. It has 'in tab' history and you can create website shortcuts on your home screen. The quit options are pretty detailed too but I think the most useful function is 'Restore Tab'. Another plus is the ability to take a picture of the whole page, not just what you're currently looking at. Only downside is it doesn't support gesture typing and there are ads in the history and bookmark pages, but I think those can be overlooked seeing as you're able to customize everything to fit your desire.

[Q] Suggestions for Alternative apps for weather, photos etc.

Hi all, So i as usual installed Nova to use some of their gestures (such as bringing down status bar from swiping down anywhere on screen etc)
In the process i lost access to the google weather widget (as it isn't available through Nova launcher)
Any lightweight suggestions to replace it? or is there any way to get the google weather widget functioning on 3rd party launchers?
What about alternatives to google photos? To be honest i never really used photos , I'm going to try to start doing so but i notice that it doesn't even pick up all my folders such as facebook folder (pics downloaded from facebook).
How do i get it to recognize folders like this ? What other lightweight yet useful gallery app is out there? (not quickpic please that purple font is killing me)
Thanks in advanced!
quickpic version 3.4.9.1 doesnt have pink icons for me and its neutured down so no google drive, dropbox etc linking - just pure gallery.

I too use Nova, for weather, I've been using Weather XL by exovoid for years, link
Action launcher has the Google widget and weather baked in. I switched from Nova to it years ago and while I'll go back to Nova briefly for change of pace purposes I never leave Action for very long. Once I got used to and understood the blinds and shutters features in Action everything else became dad's old launcher; including Nova. You can also set the Now page, assign gestures, all the usual staples of fully featured launchers.
I've used Piktures as my main gallery app for a few years. Great app.

thanks, tried it out, looking for something a bit more lightweight, just for the purpose of widget use.

So i installed action launcher and I cannot find the option to build out tabs or folders within the drawer itself? Also can't remove the multidot drawer icon and just use the swipe up feature by itself
Cool thing is it did import everything almost from nova

Yeah i just discovered that app ,
I also discovered that any motion photo or any other like top shot (to show you the whole selection of photos taken) etc doesn't show up in 3rd party gallery apps
You just long press and drag the icon up and out, you'll see the remove label at the top of the screen, drop it there and it's gone. The rest will take a bit of reading as Action doesn't work the way normal launchers do so it takes some explaining. Before I do you can create folders in the drawer section of the home settings, it's under folders. I'm saying this because Action doesn't really work the way Dad's old launcher used to do and there are some new paradigms in play. Don't want to deal with that then just imagine the post ends here.
In action you don't really need to make folders in the drawer as it's laid out to use it's killer features, the covers and shutters. For covers you can drop a shortcut you tap as normal to open that app and then you can also swipe or tap the shortcut and it will open a folder with whatever apps you want inside of it. Those are created by dropping one app onto another to create a folder as with most launchers, open the folder you just created and tap the menu (3 dot), choose create cover and now you have it. Tap the first icon you placed and it will simply open that app, swipe it (or double tap if you select that as the opener) and it will open up the folder underneath. I'm not sure if there is an app limit for the folders, I've had 14 in one now. Using my setup for example I use Hangouts as my personal primary text and instant message app but I also use several others; I have a hangouts cover set in the dock, as its a cover I tap it and open hangouts in most cases. Because it's a cover I have the apps for texting that I use infrequently underneath that which I access by swiping the icon instead. This goes on for all the shortcuts I set in the dock. I use a 2 page dock which is all covers save for one which is a shutter and through those have quick access to 47 applications. Much quicker than finding them in a drawer, even when folder the drawer because you will need more touches to get to the app than with a cover.
The shutter is an app shortcut which you use to either open the app or by swiping it open one of that apps widget. An example would be Whatsapp is my work messaging app. I have the icon set and use it as a shutter. I touch it and go into the app as normal. I get a lot of junk messages though that really aren't for me so sometimes I'll swipe it and open up the unread messages widget. This allows me to skip straight to the more important messages first rather than sort through them all in the app itself. The menu(3 dot) when you first open up the shutter will allow you to select the widget you want to use.
Despite all that you can still access the built in long presses if the app/icon has them. What happens in all this is the app drawer itself becomes more of an initial setup bin where the apps are laying until you set your covers and on the odd occasion you go in there to open a seldom used app. In the rare cases you do need to get into the drawer the sea of icons pulled out of the bottom ala Pixel may look cool but it's slower than using the side drawer which I would highly recommend folks try. While not looking cool it's more efficient; particularly for those with many apps. Still want the bottom drawer pullout it's the default action, just get rid of the shortcut and it's there.
You're going to want to menu dive with Action because there is a lot more going on than meets the eye. You can have it match your wallpaper for the launcher theme in the quick theme section. In quickbar you have what amounts to the Goog searchbar with extra functionality that you can adjust. I don't use it as I find little need for it with all the different ways you can get to the search function and it takes up space which can be better spent showing off my carefully selected wallpaper. The icon pack section is self explanatory. Icon appearance will let you change functions and visual cues like notifications counts. App drawers is where you will decide on trying that side drawer and other related settings. Recommend if you do go to a side drawer to tell it to remember where you left it. Otherwise it will always default to the top of the alphabet. Desktop is where you will do the meat and potatos of setting your desktop, the grid, icon scale, scroll effects, infinite scrolling, etc. One thing of interest in the desktop section is it will allow you to create a quickpage. This is a page you can "pullout" from the side that is separate from simply the page to the right of home. I use it for my travel apps of which I have a fair few but only use during that time. Desktop shortcuts will take you to the settings for which functions will show up when long pressing the home screen out in the open. You'll be able to add typical actions like wallpaper, widgets and so on but also custom actions. Docks is where you'll set up the number of dock pages if any, style of dock, dock seperators (or not), etc. Folders and shutters will allow you to change functions there for those tasks. Shortcuts is where you'll define whatever gestures you want.
While all that seems like a lot when you start fiddling with it it'll start making sense. Sorry for the length of that and I hope it wasn't too boring for those that made it this far.

Oh, yeah... If you use a launcher that allows you to set custom action widgets (Nova, Action Launcher, etc.) you could simply install Action launcher, never use it but get use of the weather widget via custom action in Nova or any other launcher which supports that function.
Huge fan of Today Weather! Can choose which service to receive forecasts from and has a number of widgets.
