I've been searching real hard for the right stuff since sunday and I've had no luck. The only things I did find were from 2009 and they don't seem to work me either. This is the most recent one I used and that didn't work either. All of the ones I tried either freeze after a few seconds or the stay in a continuous loop forever.

I don't have the slightest clue on what I might be doing wrong here.
what makes you think something is wrong with your startup.txt?
bootloop is an issue that alot of people are fighting with. best steps to beat this are:
update zimage and rootfs, delete current data.img, let it rebuild.
if that doesn't work what alot of people are suggeting is to go back to the 3.31 build and set that one up, then update with the files from the 5.11 build but keeping the data.img and it seems to get it going.

Well, I have the files and am putting it together now. You should give the original post-ers credit for their work on these. All I am doing is merging them.
I don't care if someone modifies what I put work into, but some people do. So for now, when it's done, I'll PM it to you.
thanks man i wait for it. And I will give credit to the orignal posters once its done

Yeah, I'll be jumping all over this request.
Here is something like you asked for. I didn't remove the part1 from the second animation as it needed something to loop.
I used boot animation preview in my signature to do it. It is real easy with that tool.
create the boot animation root directory
copy the "parts" in to the root directory (i did have to resize the "windows" images from 200x200 to 320x480)
select the "camera" from the toolbar
select the animation root directory
select the output directory
done
here is a preview, which boot animation preview also creates.

Thanks man for the help but its giving me black screen. I tried with the bootanimation tools like you said but its not working. It plays fine on PC.

try unzipping and rezipping with no compression, i am not sure if that zip file has compression or not.
Since the 2.14.401.1 version (2.14.401.1 and 2.24.401.3 at this point in time) HTC added two spyware apps to the stock ROMs.
To open a settings menu screen type *#*#76484#*#* (*#*#SMITH#*#*).
IMO, delete this sh*t. HTC = pathetic.

Yep I researched those and removed a long time ago.
Apparently it could be for HTC to remotely control your phone if you contact support, but I'm taking no chances.
Me and another user found this some time ago. There is some info about it online, if you look hard enough.
As far as I can tell the Smith app doesn't send out logs to anyone. You have to manually input an IP address for the logs to save at, or it defaults to the SD card. It doesn't have anywhere to save the logs but the SD card by default. (Maybe if you opt into sending HTC statistical data? Its the first thing that happpens when you boot a stock ROM)
You can delete it if you want. It won't affect how your phone functions.

I just recently found this on my phone. Can anybody tell me how it got there? I was thinking my girlfriend did it. However, after reading this I'm having second thoughts. Was it placed by sprint or HTC or is it something someone buys to put on the Evo 4g?
While I don't believe that many people around use Linux as their main OS, maybe there's someone which finds this useful, so I'm sharing it. I've created a small script (python) to run on crontab to notify me (on the Desktop through libnotify) when there's a new build available.
I plan to do a GNOME3 and MATE applet soon for this task also (within a few days the MATE applet will be available). Information people want to know:
Dependencies:
* pynotify
* python-lxml
How to make usage of this? Quite simple... here's how to get the show running:
1. First thing, you need to copy the script to /usr/bin (or any other place, for this, lets assume /usr/bin);
2. Make sure you have the script with 0755 mode;
3. Add the task to cron (ex for 30 minutes, if this doesn't work for you, check cron documentation):
Code:
0,30 * * * * /usr/bin/cm-10-i8150-cron
If this is done like this, the script will run every 30 minutes, and in case there are changes (based on thread title parsing), you will get a nice notification on your Desktop (GNOME, MATE, Unity, most likely K(rap)DE).
For those who don't understand what this does... here's what happens when new releases are done:

First of, jump down to the red dotted line for what i need help with, the text above just explains root method, phone and programs i have installed.
Thanks for taking the time.
I have been searching and reading up on every problem I've had so far in the install, i have come to a dead end and i need to get pushed a step further, i need help.
I am installing BT5 ARM on my Note 2 N7100.
Whatever the reason, i grew up with BT and i have my reasons why i want it on my phone (if i wanted to crack someone i would have just used my BT on USB, i have a lot of different things like this mostly for nostalgia)
I have a Note 2 N7100 with android 4.1.2
I rooted my phone using METHOD 2 in this thread (Odin307)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2143479
I have SuperSU BusyBox and AndroidVNC
All installed and working as they should.

Now it gets wierd.
On Terminal Emulator i grant SU and go into the BT5 folder and boot the "bootbt" file.
"ioctl LOOP_SET_FD failed: Device or resource busy"
I am not a linux expert, I am what you will call an experienced n00b :good:
I was up LATE last night and i figured out something i cant remember now.
It was something about if my device had "loop 1-2-3-4 etc" enabled?
AND that i might need an modified "bootbt" file ?
I am so stuck and I have been staring in the eyes of this problem for so long i have gone blind.
Help me see.
Thank you.
I have the same problem on my samsung s5
good to know
you need custom kernel, as stock doesn't support it
Stock ROM. Two bugs.
In legacy SMS app, I have set a message. Any time I exit a conversation with back button, app says it saved a draft. Need to exit by doing menu-discard. I had this bug also in the stock rom for my previous phone, HTC Sensation, 3 or 4 years ago (android 2) (fixed after changing rom). I am surprised this bug comes back after so long. Is there a fix ? When loading the draft again, it adds the signature a second time, then a third ...
Many apps and widgets show voltage of battery to be 3 or 4 mV. Few app give the correct value. After digging, the value in /sys is good (forgot the full path file name). An advanced app shows the correct value internally, and gives a button to access the android internal hidden menu of battery, and in there, the value is wrong. So, it looks like it's an android bug, and all apps which get it wrong are those asking kindly the value to Android (instead of going directly in /sys). Is there a fix ?
Ah, found the file:
Code:
cat /sys/devices/platform/htc_battery/power_supply/battery/batt_vol_now
4193
The following shots are from Android Tuner Free: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ccc71.at.free
3rd image says: you are going to reach a feature hidden by the manufacturer ... that could damage your phone. Use it at your own risks. => to me it's going to an internal android menu. A stock one.
