sounds and looks like trouble with apps2sd, any information on that?

Well, i partitioned it with only swap and fat32, no ext2.

AFAIK SWAP partition is more or less the same that EXT partition, seems app2sd is buggy and use the first "UNIX"-like partition it found, here: swap so
either desactivate app2sd or reformat you microSD card like this (eg.)
[sdb1]- a as big you want FAT32 partition
[sdb2]- something like 500mg - 1GB ext2/3 partition (don't use ext4, you'll need a kernel that support it, ext2 is fine)
[sdb3]- 64-128mb swap partition
format it using "gparted" (a livecd is fine if you're not running linux)

try booting without the sdcard inserted. swap isn't needed anyway btw.

Phone Buggered?

Hi,
I had Pauls R2 installed on my phone, and all was well until I attempted a factory reset, which caused everything to go wrong!! I tried wiping using the new Recovery Console and repartitioning the SD card, but I still got warnings about APPS2SD being broken when I installed any new rom.
I am currently in the process of trying to reflash the "rootedupdate.zip" in the hope that this will restore all of the original files for APPS2SD, but it is just looping on the HTC screen

[Q] Wifi tether force close

Not quite sure what happened here, but I themed up and made a few minor tweaks to CR_Mod and posted it, and also thought, hey, I'll include the new wifi tether that was just posted. It force closed when I hit start tethering, so I just reverted back to the older version, but when I tried to start it there, that one ALSO force closed.
Any idea why it's force closing? :/

EDIT: Nevermind, must be an individual issue, no one else running the ROM is having issues. Must have deleted the lib file when I tried to push the newer version and revert back to the older version. Still, how might I go about getting that lib file BACK into /data/data?

[Q] Application update/install issue help request

Guys,
I need some help diagnosing a problem I'm having with Android Market. I've already re-flashed once to fix this issue and it came back so I want to figure out the root cause. The problem is that some applications will not install or update, and some I have no problem with. I'm stumped with why this is.
My hardware/Software: EVO 4G running MikFroyo 4.5 with Market v2.3.3 and Darktremor Apps2SD v2.7.5.2.
312MB free on internal, 21.3GB free on SD card, and 729MB free on SD card (a2sd).
Yesterday I was trying to update Google Maps, but I kept getting an "android installation error: package file invalid" after the file downloaded. I ended up updating the application using an apk file that someone uploaded, which worked fine.
Today, Vlingo is trying to update, but it won't even download; "download unsuccessful" briefly flashes on the screen and it goes right back to the "May apps" market screen. I've had similar issues with other files but unfortunately I have no other logs.

Some of the things I've tried when this happens are:
1. Clearing the market cache,
2. Clearing the market data,
3. Clearing both the CACHE and DALVIK-CACHE using recovery (AmonRA 2.3)
4. Running "fix apk UID miscmatches" using recovery
5. Switching from 3G to WiFi and vise versa
I also noticed that sometimes I have problems restoring applications using Titanium Backup (failed install)... so perhaps this is not a Market issue.
I'm in no way an Android expert and I hope someone that's more knowledgeable than me can help me out because this is driving me nuts.

OK, I think I may have solved this... I moved the Dalvik cache to the SD card using the "apps2sd cachesdreset" command and then Vlingo was able to install. I'm not sure why other apps were able to install (maybe they were smaller?) and some were not. From what I've learned it seems that even though there was plenty of space in internal memory, the dalvik portion of it was full. We'll see if that solved it after I install a few more apps.
I'm just not sure how I'll be able to move to a different ROM because of this....

Darn it, I'm still getting download errors sometimes. How can I find out how large my dalvik is, how much of it is used, and how to increase its size (if possible)?

I'm curious as well. The HTC HD2 has 1024MB of internal storage. Yet android detects 729MB total. Why is this? I would like to see it saying the correct amount of internal memory. I'm guessing a portion is used for the cache, why so much? Does it act like the page file on windows?

I am not quite sure.. what is the benefit of installing this camera apk..we already have stock camera version in our N4..what benefits or features will this camera provide. will it solve the high noise problem..?

I had it fixed for a little while on mine....then I messed with it some more, trying to build a flashable zip. Need to re-trace what I did.
Originally mentioned in OP that Photosphere and Gallery editing would FC.
Edit: Need to install GalleryGoogle.apk over installed one for Photosphere and Gallery editing to work!

Cool! waiting for a fully working flashable zip

Well I am stuck. Camera will persist through reboot just fine, but Photosphere and gallery editing will not. You need to manually install "update" GalleryGoogle.apk every time for those features to come back.
During logcat of an adb install -r of the file it clones the app to /data/app and renames it to com.google.android.gallery3d.apk. Howerver, you can do this multiple times and it will just add -1, -2, -3, yadda yadda.
I've updated on my device itself through Root Explorer. Made sure all the permissions are good. Installed through adb and installed through a .zip I made flashable. Nothing seems to let it stick.
