MyLock + Alarms : Am I being stupid? - Desire General

I have installed Mylock and it works fine. I no longer have to mess about unlocking the screen after pressing the power button to wake up the phone.
BUT
As I am currently staying away from home, I set the alarm last night for 7:30 and went to sleep.
At 7:30 the alarm went off. Really loud and yes it did wake me up but here is my problem.
HOW DO I TURN THE ALARM OFF?
Normally you swipe down but this option is no longer there (because of Mylock) and search as I could (whilst the alarm kept sounding) there seems no other way to turn off the alarm.
In the end I had to power off the phone!
So am I being stupid here or does Mylock really disable the ONLY way of switching off the alarm?
Thanks

If you use HTC's clock application, the only way to turn it off is to use the lock screen - which you've disabled. You'll need to download and use a different clock application that uses Android's embedded clock instead of HTC's clock.
I used DeskClock to handle that when I was playing around with different lock screens. Acer Liquid clock also apparently works fine.

I use Aclock. Works great with myLock and looks pretty awesome!

Thanks
It clearly wasn't me being stupid.
I will give those other alarms a go
Cheers

[Q] TouchLockPro or PocketShield Impressions

Anyone using TouchLockPro or PocketShield?
What are your impressions, pros/cons?
Thanks
Touch lock pro is really good but i removed it because some major features weren't working, maybe its just the ROM i used. But its great!
I was using s2u2, but kept having issues, probably has more to do that I don't use a stock rom, versus the program, but I switched to pocket shield and have no issues with it. I don't use all the features, just mainly the screen lock.

hmm good to know...I was about to ask about S2U2 too...it looks great...but I was reading the threads on it and it seams like issue after issue that people are talking about...maybe just the users/roms/or devices...idk
I downloaded the trial version of Pocket Shield...which you can use for 10 days before having to buy it.
Noticed some issues...probably things that just I would notice ...
(1) It enables the ability to select Repeat...under settings>Sounds&Notifications>Notifications>Reminders [I thought this was great...since this feature disappeared after WM 2003]
(2) in the same area...under Voicemail, Missed Call, and Text Messages you can now enable "flash light"...although these options are no available for New MMS...or ...New E-mail...or Reminders
(3) When Reminders go off...the light flashes anyways...until you dismiss or snooze... [I thought this was annoying cause I usually associate LEDS with missed e-mail, text, voicemail, not reminders...]
(4) You have some boost alarm options....where you can choose snooze options....this is basically an alarm to tell you have unchecked e-mail, text, voicemail, reminders etc... BUT the SNOOZE options don't actually work...this seams to never stop...just keeps going and going...even after the reminders and all missed calls are answered :x Edit:OK, so apparently...when this alarm goes off on the lock screen...you click on the item on the lock screen, then slide the screen...where the snooze options are revealed! yaay! ...but no dismiss button :X Ok, figured this out. For Boost alarm options you have a time setting for when you want it to work, plus you can check what you want it to work for, mine kept going off because I had it checked to go off as long as there was something on "today & tomorrow's Agenda" haha oops
(5) After a call...the screen locks...even if this feature is turned off on pocketshield...
(6) strange thing...i think is a feature of pocket shield...that we can't control...the phone screen turns off when you hold the phone up to your ear...even if the feature..."protect screen during call" is off....sortof like the iphone proximity sensor...not sure if our phone already did this...but I don't remember it doing this...before....
...if anyone knows that this is a normal feature...and how to turn it off...that would be great...
(7) For some dumb reason...the TouchFlo3D Slide to Unlock Screen is gone again....and it has defaulted back to the old WM Unlock...if I hold End key down....yaay! (sarcasm) ...this happened strangly the other day too...without this program...and I had to hard reset to get it back :x
(8) No clue why...but after a call...the phone decided to vibrate without stopping...until I pulled out the battery....when i turned it back on ...it went back to vibrating...but stopped after it finished booting...no clue why this happened...but it only took place once...wasn't a reoccurring problem
maybe this is all happening because it isn't the full version...idk...I thought it would be full...just minus access to the skins and it would just disable in 10 days...but idk...
This is all on my stock Rom too....which is nuts
Another annoyance...when you hit the power button...it turns of any media player you had running...so you can't turn the screen of and play music at the same time...unless plugged into external power.
I found that I can turn the screen off...and keep the media player running if I push the PocketSheild Lock button...this gives you the option to turn the screen off...or go to the lock screen...which will turn the screen off too and keep the media player running.
Major annoyance...should just be able to hit the power button and have the screen turn off and lock...with the media player still playing...what if I want to save battery by turning my screen off while listening to music...or put the phone in my pocket with headphones...

Yeah, I don't fault S2U2, it's a good program. I hear from a lot of people that use it and like it, but I was having issues. It's funny to show iPhone drones the S2U2 lock screen with the battery showing (the default iPhone screen?), and they say "hey, when did you get an iPhone" swipe it unlocked, and they say you can't have iphone on a windows phone LOL....priceless.

at least people don't mistake your phone with a nokia,
it's driving me crazy
I used TouchLockPro for a long while. Generally, I like it. I locks well and the unlock with light feature is great.
Recently, the unlock with light feature was added to PhoneAlarm. I use and like PhoneAlarm, so I just updated and now have a single program with my alarm profiles and screeen locking plus a slide to unlock. Handy.

Setting phone to silent from lock screen?

My wife likes the stock Android lock screen much better than the HTC Sense lock screen, especially due to being able to set the phone to silent right from the lock screen rather than having to unlock, press and hold power, then selecting silent. However, she can't use it, because the stock lock screen won't shut off a blaring alarm from the alarm clock!
Is there maybe a secret way to set the phone to silent right from the stock HTC Sense lock screen?
Or is there a way to mod the stock Android lock screen to shut off the Sense alarm clock when it's going off?
My wife is running the stock Froyo ROM.
I'm using sky-raider and it's been a long time since I've used the stock rom, so I don't recall if this worked there, but... long press the power button when on the lock screen, and you'll get a menu one of the options will allow you to toggle silent mode.
There's also an app called Widget Locker which replaces your lock-screen and allows you to add widgets to it.

Back in the Old Eris/Hero days it was not possible to use the HTC alarm clock with the Stock Android Lock Screen because you would not be able to turn the alarm off. The solution was to use the old Android Alarm or a third party alarm.
Hope this helps
You can get a app called "Widget Locker". This app allows you to place widgets on the lock screen as well as change the slide to unlock bar. She could just change to bar to the one where instead of sliding right to unlock, you slide left to silence the phone. Works great for me. here is the link... Widget Locker

[Q] 4.2 Alarm Snooze Unlocks to Home

Is it just me or does snoozing an alarm from the 4.2 DeskClock unlock the phone to the Home screen? Anyone know how to disable this?
If you are snoozing an alarm, why would you want your phone to unlock, I would rather it just turn the screen back off, or at least stay at the lock screen... Sometimes I really wonder about Google coders.
Any suggestions for an alarm app that also has a built-in stopwatch and timer? I've tried Alarm Clock Xtreme and Alarm Clock +, but neither have both a stopwatch and timer.
I have noticed that too and dont like the fact that it unlocks. I just thought about this but I havent tried using the volume buttons to snooze instead of the slider. I am going to try that now and see what happens. Maybe that will work better.
EDIT: Nope, still does it.

I use Sleep as Android and it'll do exactly what you're looking for - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.urbandroid.sleep&hl=en
I've got mine set up to just buzz my watch first, then a failsafe that goes off on my watch and phone.
Ooooo looks brilliant!!! Do all the other features like sleep tracking etc drain the battery much then?

It used to drain your battery totally, but dev recently got it working excellent instead.
Now our sw3 is one of the most battery efficient watch
To run the app on, battery "drains" around 17% over night, which is great since it various sensors are being used.
Regarding vibration on the watch in general: I think it's as easy as, if an app generates vibration alerts on your phone, it'll generate these on the watch too.

Ooooo brilliant! Thanks for the info I'll give it a shot over the weekend then when I've had time to mess with all the settings, annoying though as I like using timely and would really just like it to vibrate my watch...

I just got the SW3 yesterday. I'm trying to get my alarms to sync, found this an tried Sleep as Android. However, it seems no matter what settings I use, my watch only buzzes once very briefly for the alarm while it goes off as normal on my phone. As if just a notification that an alarm is going off. Is this just how it works? Any ideas?
I followed the "instruction" chapter on wearables to enable Smartwatch in the app and enabled the vibration (Smartwatch) from start option, but I can't find any other real set up options or instructions.

I made two alarms - One with the phone vibrating / making noise, and the watch vibrating, then one set ~5 min before that, set to silent, and disabled vibration (so the phone does nothing), and set the Vibrate (Smartwatch) to "From start" as well.
When the first alarm goes off, mine buzzes once briefly at the time of the alarm, and then once again maybe 30 seconds later, then it starts getting more frequent after that. When I just went to check what my settings were, I also noticed there's an option to start the watch vibration "before" the alarm - though I'm not sure how much before the alarm "before" is, since it doesn't seem to be configurable, but that may alleviate my use of two alarms.
Hope that helps!
Official Clock app from Google
now u can install on any android and the alarm appear on smartwatch , to dismiss or postpone

Alarm clock issues

Anyone else having issues with their alarm clock on the Fire Phone? In the morning, the alarm will go off (which is a good thing) but I can't turn it off (Which is a bad thing). I've been having to turn the phone off completely to shut it down. Most of the time, the screen will come on giving me the option to swipe to turn it off or snooze, but swiping doesn't work. Some times, the screen does not even give me those options. I downloaded a different alarm app, but am having the same issue.
Ironically I've had this same problem and it was possibly after freezing certain system apps for more memory. The only solution I've found as opposed to rebooting the phone is holding down the home button which triggers voice input and stops the alarm.
Hope this helps.

I almost missed work today! My alarm went off for like 1 second and then shuts itself off. I'm wonder if Next lock screen has anything to do with it. I have to play with it later tonight. This is kind of unacceptable.
I was not able to reproduce the issue again this evening (even though it happened with both my morning alarms) and I seem to have made things worse. Messing around with LockScreen.apk and LockScreenPreviewer.apk, my screen no longer turns on when the alarm sounds. I have to unlock the phone and go into the alarm's notification menu to stop it.
Also, I managed to accidentally delete my backup of /system/priv-app/LockScreen.apk. The one in /system/app/LockScreen.apk doesn't work when I put it in priv-app and update-fire-phone-35.4.6.3_user_463001620.bin doesn't even have a /system/priv-app/LockScreen.apk.
EDIT:
Screw it. I moved over to 4.6.3. Problem solved. I'm back on the standard horrible lockscreen for now. But at least the alarm seems to be working again.
