Just wondering, but is there any way to increase the pulsing speed of the trackpad LED?
A lot of people have suggested LedMe Know but it doesn't have support for Google Voice (which I use for sms) and it flashes the trackpad, rather than pulses.
I've also tried Light Flow and although it pulses the trackpad and supports Voice, it doesn't change the speed of the pulse
Any suggestions?
Have you tried playing with the custom timing settings in Led me know?
If gvoice isn't supported, then perhaps it wont work....sry if it doesn't.
Well, like I said up top, it only flashes the led, instead of the pulses, regardless of any speed settings.
Plus no Google Voice in LedMe Know. Light Flow does support it (so its definately possible ), but it does not alter the pulse frequency so it doesn't add anything that stock didn't already do.

Maybe you could contact the app developers and get them to add the feature(s)?
Some can be surprisingly responsive.
Good suggestion...but not quite the solution I'm looking for since LedMe flashes rather than pulses and I'd prefer if I didn't have to keep an app in memory just to change the frequency of a stock feature :/
Maybe there's a way to modify the lights.vision.so or something?
EDIT: I doubt the developer would try his hand at pulsing rather than flashing since it seems I'm just a minority who prefers the trackpad led rather than the speaker led. Also this seems like a device specific feature and the dev says in the app description: "only available at the moment for htc desire 2.2" so I doubt he has a DZ to test on... I found
EDIT2: I found exactly what I was looking for (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5609688&postcount=25) but sadly its only for Nexus One. I'm messaging the developer to see if maybe he'd port it over...

Yeah I dont know much about editing those files, but some app devs are helpful. It might actually just be a quick edit for them to gain compatibility with GVoice.
I only use LED me know to flash my trackpad light really fast, upon arrival of sms' through tmobile carrier/handcent tho.
I hope you figure something out. I would like like it to pulse fast rather then just blink.

Switch to an MIUI rom. It has the feature built in.
I appreciate pulsing the trackpad LED as well. However it's too slow a pulse at default speed, to be able to quickly peek at your phone and be able to tell if you have a message or not.
xREVOx: What exactly is this feature called? I want to look around and see if it will be included in the net CyanogenMod version.

I'm not using the MIUI rom right now, but it was called either Pulse Frequency or Pulse Delay. Default is 9 seconds. You can change it to as little as a 1 second delay.
I might have to flash it just to check it out and see how it works.
Currently I have LED me know flash my trackpad at 100 milisec. on and 100 milisec. off. Flashes fast and I notice it right away when checking for messages.
I just rather have the pulsing close to that speed.
Well I guess its nice to know that there's an actual solution... I wonder how hard it is to extract from miui rom?
I was looking around for the source of miui, but apparently its not released by their dev team...?

You could try just flashing the exact file that controls it to your phone, from the MIUI rom... not sure exactly what it is though.

I believe its in Settings? I saw a video of MIUI running on a G2 and Trackpad Settings was in the Settings menu...not sure if it contains the pulse frequency but meh. If it is, I don't think it'll be too smart to flash it but idk.

The Andromadus Team is working on Jb from source, best posible way to expirience jellybean as it should be, follow there progress/releases here
Here it is guys jb for our beloved g2, this rom is based on the gnex jellybean leak that we saw couple days ago, right now rom is as useless as the word could posibly describe it, the rom boots just fine, but it seems the launcher does not like being render in software mode so it crashes non stop, i tried other launcher they dotn seem to work ether, im just posting this so maybe someone else can help me, to ether get launcher working in software mode or getting egl acceleration working, for this will we mostlikely need a 3.0 kernel.
Again bare in mind this is pretty much useless, and its not much fun to use, untill we solv the launcher issue, dont expect this to be a daily driver any time soon
Working:
Touchscreen forgot to mention this
It renders and reaches lockscreen thats about it, im sure i can fix more, but theres no point if we cant get the launcher working.

read description i did, it does not work, im guessing its jb was not meant to be used in software mode, thats why the launcher crashes.
I want to say that aside from the fact that it's on the DZ (which is a phone I own and use), the best thing about this thread are the advertisements on the bottom of the uploadhouse.com website.

The thread proves that, unlike what a lot of people who knows little to nothing about programming say, JB can be ported to the G2 and it can boot.
First thing first. Stuffs come later.
@siulmagic: awesome at least it boots!
@siulmagic dont sell yourself short! It takes a lot to get something like this to boot! I am sure after a while someone will get something else to work. Like taz , he is a great porter!
lol i did not see those ads on the website, will upload somewere else, my bad haha.
I knew it was only a matter of time, n they said this wasn't possible? Sure there's issues and bugs but its still in the alpha stage.

I said "ASIDE FROM THE FACT". you misinterpreted.
I would have thought JB would have taken another year for anything to be on Desire Z.
I'm just learning these past 3 years and by no means unfamiliar with personal ports from other devices but took a look at doing something similar for my device for personal use and was humbled very quickly. It's the accomplishing of seemingly impossible tasks large well funded corporations don't bother tackling by one user who solves it on their free time that make me truly love open technology. Kudos. Keep it Up. Many Thanks!

i can very easily get ril working but there's really no point, if theres no working launcher =P.
Someone please please PLEASE tell me if there is a way to tell the captive touchkeys to stay on when the screen backlight is on. I may be in the minority but I can't stand the lights going out while I'm using the phone. Sounds simple but I REALLY hate them going off. There wasnt an issue with the unofficial CM10 alpha 5(?). At one time I had a rom that allowed me to set a timeout in seconds OR to match the backlight. That would be perfect in my mind. It would be great if the keyboard backlights were on any time the keyboard is open (IMO). If I'm in the minority then someone please tell me where I can set it at the OS level for just me. If I can't find a solution then I will have to go back to alpha 5 and stay there.
I have googled everything I can think of. I keep getting pages about a "great" new beature of CM9 that allows you to disable the backlight altogether. Great for some maybe but not me. I bring that up to say that I have tried to find the answer on my own first.
Is your capacitive lights feature unchecked in the advanced settings? I think the majority of people who have used samsung phones don't need the lights, so that's why this feature has been implemated.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda app-developers app
It is unchecked. I have no problem with the ability to disable but would love to have the option to have them stay on (JB Default) when the screen is on. I don't like having to guess where the buttons are when it's dark out. It's petty I know but it really does bother me enough to not use the rom If I can't change it.
Please post questions in Q&A

FWIW - I'd like to see this as an option, too. It's an annoyance, but not a show stopper. I'm actually getting pretty good at guessing where the capacitive keys actually are, but sometimes get ticked at fumbling for them.

Bump (he said sheepishly)
Can any of the kernel or ROM devs provide some words of wisdom here? On Epic TW-based ROMs, there's definitely a setting to have the capacitive key backlighting timeout match either the screen timeout or the keyboard lighting timeout (I don't remember which).
Thanks.

This functionality would have to be added to the CM framework. The framework is what controls the 6 second timeout and a configurable timeout setting has not been coded. Anyone is free to work that out and submit it to the CM gerrit system

Understandable, because that's no easy task. But another alternative is to build your own kernel, and revert this patch which is how I fixed the capacitive lights in the 3.0 kernel. You could effectively break them again. Don't worry, they will still go off when you turn off the screen, they just won't timeout after 6 seconds.
I finally got brave

A year has passed. Updates have come and gone. I even switched to another phone and back to the Epic4G. Same thing bugged me as always. I took the leap and set up a virtual machine so I could compile CM 10.1. I did a test compile and came out fine. I then made the changes you mentioned (that made more sense once I got used to the built process) and it WORKED!
I now have CM 10.1 fully working with the button backlight staying on as long as the screen backlight. I LOVE IT.
Thank you so much (a year late).

I've had my Epic for a week, running CM 10.1, and this bugs the snot out of me too. Any chance you could PM me a link to your build?
Sure
I'll try to figure out where to upload it. Keep in mind I know nothing about coding for Android. It's simply CM 10.1 (newest) for EpicMTD with 2 numbers changed and then compiled. I do like that the ability to control the brightness of the buttons still works. I don't like them super bright but I do want them always on.

UPDATE: Loaded, booted, and is running without a hitch. You have solved my one major gripe with CM on my Epic. Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!
Glad I could help someone else. CM10.1 is so near perfect in every way, it was frustrating to have such an annoying "flaw". In the older version of CM they didn't have the ability to adjust the brightness of the buttons so I can understand some people wanting them off or fast timeout. If I ever have some spare time I will try to add this as a feature to the menu but I doubt it will ever happen.

Any way I can get my hands on your most recent 4.4 build source so I can build it with the bug put back in?

I installed your cm11 but havent gone through and tweaked it out. Looks like that might do the trick. I have found a couple bugs (to be expected).
1. If on a call and hit home, there is no way to get back to hang up. Have to power off.
2. While on home screen. Hitting the "menu" button at the bottom and choosing "settings" brings up the launcher3 settings. Used to be the android settings...maybe it's a change. Not a deal breaker but I prefer the old way.
Thank you for all your work. I wish there was some way I could help you out.
Hello people!
I have not long been using AOKP for very long, but i can say overall i love it, i have a few issues though.
I am aware of course it is a unofficial ROM and to expect it to run perfectly would be ridiculous and i was hoping if anybody had experienced anything similar and had any solutions?...
- My headphone jack has 100% stopped working since installing is ROM, i even reinstalled an old backup of MIUIv4 and it was working fine so it defiantly isn't the hardware.
- Black screen notifications, if i received an IM like whatsapp or even a SMS my led would light up and the screen backlight will turn on but its just a black screen?
- Fail to unlock screen first time around, now this doesn't happen all the time, maybe 30-40% of the time, but ill press the unlock button... the backlight will turn on but again its just a black screen, so i have to re-lock and unlock again and it will 100% work the second time... its kind of annoying.
Other than that the ROM works fine for me, i really don't want to lose the JB OS... is there a stable alternative maybe? or hopefully a simple fix.
By the way is based on their latest build.
Thanks!

UPDATE: ive given the ROM a go and i must say its a lot more stable than i thought it would be when its a "mishmash" of different ROMs put together.
i still have the headphone jack issue thought, i read a few other forums that people are experiencing using ROMs based on CM10... have you not had this issue?
Being that I'm a noob (<10 posts), I can't post this in the actual ROM thread (mods, please move if you deem it appropriate).
I wanted to ask if there was a way in Google Edition 4.3 to change the clock settings to *NOT* display the hour in bold font?
Is that functionality available and I'm missing it in the settings?
Thanks yeahmann for putting that together and to the entire XDA community for all the hard work!.

So far, CM 10.2 is rock-solid. I flashed The Sept 5 Nightly. Reason being - Friday gives me 2 days if something doesn't work.
I tried AOKP (too many options for me -- never thought I'd say that) and both Virgin and 'stock' GE (4.3) ROMs (a bit too stock for me).
I have so far set up email (GMail and Work using K-9 + Invitation Processor) and customized some options/appearance (cLock is da-shizznit). The camera works perfectly. I have not set up Bluetooth and not used GPS, yet, but will try both tomorrow on my way to/from work. One thing that I still need to figure out is the file-system layout inside Android (i.e. /storage/0 vs. /storage/legacy, etc...) as I'm apparently using 7.4GB out of 9.6GB available. This is probably because the stock T-Mo version left most of its guts behind and/or I incorrectly cleaned the device after having flashed all the ROMs.
One thing that I've noticed (with all the ROMs, except stock T-Mo) was that when you press the power button to lock/shut-off the screen, it ends up shutting off like an old-school TV. With the stock version, it would go dark seamlessly.
Regardless, I really enjoy having this phone now that I flashed CM on it. The fact that they provide an 'update-CM' option directly inside the settings is awesome in its own right. I'll update this thread once I give GPS and BT a run (can't promise I'll run TV apps on it, though -- that's not my cup-o-tea).
Best!
if you find certain things to be a bit buggy on CM, give Virgin Rom another try. the hardware elements of the phone work flawlessly. in an ideal world, someone would use Virgin Rom as a base and "Cyanogenize" it so that more things were customizable, such as Quick Setting toggles. CM is great, but the nightlies don't have the stability that the GE Roms have, obviously.
Thanks for your inputs...I guess back up of your old Roms may be eating up your internal space (if you have backed them up )...the old tv animation is the crt animation which Google introduced in ICS 4.0

Aaah! Good to know (about the TV animation).
I haven't backed up my old ROMs, but I'll definitely investigate space usage once I find some time.
Tested GPS and BT this morning: played a few songs over the car radio streaming over BT - awesome.
GPS is working good, too. I get a lock within 10 seconds of starting any app requiring GPS.
