Bluetooth and A2DP Issues - Desire General

I've recently bought a Parrot MKi9000 bluetooth system and installed it in my car. The system works flawlessly with my old Nokia 6110 Navigator and the audio streaming quality is fantastic....
Not so on the Desire. The quality is quite frankly appalling, like listening to a 56kbps MP3. It also seems to have intermittent bluetooth issues, such as not being able to send files via bluetooth (at all) and then locking the blutooth on and requiring a reboot to turn it off.
Anyone experiencing this stuff, or is it just my dud? I REALLY hope the streaming quality issue isn't an Android thing, I just spent $180 on this bluetooth system!

I just bought a JVC bluetooth stereo to use with my phone... and it works GREAT! I haven't had any issues with the bluetooth connection, and it shuts off as soon as I flip the toggle switch on my home screen.
As far as sound quality goes... it sounds like I have a CD playing when I'm playing mp3 files. I also use A Online Radio streaming to my stereo, and I only use stations that stream at least 128 kbps, and that sounds pretty darn good as well. Not as good as mp3 files, but pretty darn good.
Keith

Thanks Keith.
I've contacted HTC- They've said they're working on it....so I'm not sure if that means it's a Carrier specific thing (my carrier has a custom ROM) or if they're just not sure if it's an individual handset thing and they want to make sure.
It seems very unstable with Bluetooth in general though, so I hope I have a dud, otherwise that's disappointing!

How to use a BT Stereo Headset with GSPlayer or any player

I tried to set up a set of BT Stereo Headphones in a shop the other day to test them. We couldn't get them to go so we could listen to mp3s. I use GSPlayer.
Has anybody done this successfully? How do you tell the Magician (WM5) to output the sounds to the bluetooth headset and not to the normal headphones audio output socket?
many thanks,
Zaine.
Cant remeber where i got and who to give props too. but here it is
just run the output all audio to bluetooth and the run the other to turn off
and the auto mode which i havent tested out yet
Bewdiful.
Bewdy mate.
Thanks very much, that seems to do the trick. It works with my normal headset now. I'll go back to the shop now and test those other headphones.
The auto toggle seems to work OK as well, btw.
Once again, thanks a million.
Good deal. I gotta try this out. Will this work w/ the Wizard?
It doesn't work with my Magician + BHCS BT Patch...
I've read plenty of threads about this. For Magician, A2DP is WMP only. Doesn't work with anything else.
Mind you, this is what everyone else has said. I have not tested this myself.
I can confirm that, in my experience.
Also: WMP is pretty rubbish about its A2DP support. For some reason it'll only stream mp3s within a certain bitrate, too low and it uses the device's speaker.
It won't do non-stnadard sample-rates either, and on most setups it seems to "burp" every few seconds.
Ik am succesfull with the standard WMP though. It plays all bitrates, and only rarely stutters... So when I use WMP, I am satisfied!
Works fine, just bad quality sound with Bluetooth.
Well, I tried again in the shop and everything worked fine on my Magician (a T Mobile MDA compact with WM5). However, the sound quality was pretty rubbish. The sales guy reckoned that was a function of Bluetooth.
So, not a winner there. But, I can now listen to my voice recordings and podcasts via my normal BT Headset, which is really handy.
Thanks again to the Frioman - a really useful couple of apps. The toggle is on my Today page now!

Yeah, I got this all the time, espically if I fast forwarded and rewound. And I was re-encoding mp3s to different bitrates, constant and variable without much success.
"Damn WMP and it's lack of features! The stupid thing can only play MP3s... and... WMA..."
I did a few test re-encodes to WMA 9 (not 9.1) @ 192 and now I get those burps and crackles every ... ten minutes? Half an hour? Definitly not every... what, twenty seconds to a minute.
If this is a problem for you, try re-encoding to WMA 9 @ 192. I use dbPowerAmp http://www.dbpoweramp.com/
ooff! took me about 2 and 1/2 days to re-find this thread again!! can we get a sticky on this????
used this on my Wizard (aka mda) and my Moto H3 and now can listen to my tv shows on the train w/my bt headset!
thanks!!!
I got a Unable to Open bluetooth audio gateway or something, though my headset is connected...strange.

There is three icons one for audio off and one for audio on and one for toggle.
I ran one at a time but after 15 or 20 minutes I loose blue tooth connections and the communications manager freezes and when I click on the blue tooth Icon in settings it does nothing, I have to turn the mda off and then I can listen over the blue tooth again, but after 1or 20 minutes it does it again.
can you help?
help
is there any one out there
BT Audio User Problem
I downloaded BT Audio and installed the three .exe files on my 8525. Soft reset the device and then toggled the audio on.exe. Sound still coming out of the speaker and not the BT headset.
I do have the BT-620's and they work fine (even before the BT Audio install). I am trying to accomplish being able to listen to WM without having to lug the BT-620's around all the time.
I am wondering if having the 620's software is conflicting with BT Audio?
Also, I think to get the audio stream to play to the headset, one has to activate the voice dialing feature from the headset? I can get the sound to play only for a few seconds when I do this. Do I need to de-activate voice dialing? If so, how?
Thanks and Happy Holidays
Wokring great with Plantranics voyer 510
Thanks for such nice software....it is working great in my mda and voyer 510 bluetooh head set.

is my P3300 actually A2DP compatible?

Heya,
for a long time i have been looking for some decent bluetooth stereo headset.
now it has come down to two models. well, actually one only
my choice: motorola s9
and the second possibility: Motorola T820
from reading the comments on amazon on those devices i realize that my phone needs to be A2DP compatible to get the best sound out of the headset.
i use s2p as music player and i know it is A2DP compatible... but is real question is: is my phone (HTC P3300 WM6) compatible with this tecnology
also: if you can suggest any other good headsets, please do so.
key features i seek:
- able to use on my phone and pc
- a2dp
- good sound and microphone quality
a2dp not working
Hi,
I have HTC artemis. I recently purchased wireless bluetooth stereo headsets (Jabra bt325)
I cannot connect it to use as wireless stereo. Its working fine as handsfree. After pairing, I cannot see wireless stereo option. Its Greyed. I know that artemis is A2DP compatible.
But i am sure that headset is fine because I tested it with n95 and it worked fine.
Please give me a solution.
Try this:
Start - settings - connections - bluetooth - and add new device
If your headset is already added, use your stylus and press on the bluetooth headset name until the following menu comes up:
Edit
Delete
Set as Hands-free
Set as Wireless Stereo
Choose no. 4
yes it is.
I'm using Dopod M700 which is the P3300 w/o the GPS module.
It works with dell BH200 BT stereo headset and also the o2 BT stereo earphones.
It works on joint stereo in WM5 and since its now running WM6.1 its real stereo.
Dell BH200
Hi thanks for the suggestion even after setting the Bluetoot head set as "set as Handsfree" it did not work, as soon as I receive or make a call the head set goes off, looks like its some compatibility with A2DP not sure, if some one has done some development or found a patch to make this work would be a great help

might be a specific problem of your headset model.
i use a motorola s9 and it's quite nice. fits nice, does not disturb after hours, controls work fine, calling works fine...
BUT (and there's always a but) it has some major drawbacks i found out. while it's still nice to listen music without wires, i encounter this problems. which MIGHT be due the phone, not the headset... but i have no way to test that.
so, basicly, P3300 + motorola S9 through A2DP:
- insides works like a charm. phone in my belt, headset on. music cuality nice with some small music interrupts every now and then (maybe once per 5 minutes). phone calls nice and i can hear and they can listen me well.
but my oh my when i get on the street...
- constant music interrupts every 15 seconds. i have hang the phone around my neck so it's where my chest is to not get interrupts so often (still get one every 2-3 minutes)
- as the mic is where the ear is, if i have a call, it's impossible to hear me due the background noise. this also applies to the underground/metro. it's not that bad in a bus
and well. without A2DP enabled my music player uses so little resources the phone still works fine...
if A2DP is enabled, the phone gets REAL slow and the battery drain is MASSIVE.
when this motorola S9 break... i'll get another model to test. and when that breaks i'll probably get back to some nice wired ones (unless the CPU issues and the battery drain on the phone gets solved) ... but maybe i actually change the phone before that happens. who knows.

Playing music over a regular bluetooth headset with the Evo

I searched around, but I didn't find an answer to this specific question. I have an HTC Evo, and a regular Bluetooth headset. I'd like to be able to play music/podcasts/whatnot through the headset.
It works great for phone calls, but once the call is over, it goes back to using the speaker. I'm assuming this has something to do with Bluetooth profiles since I was actually able to play music through Bluetooth in a car I rented a few weeks ago. I had to change the audio setting on the car, so it seems like the Evo can send audio through Bluetooth if it detects a certain profile (A2DP?).
Is there an app that allows me to choose to reroute my audio from the speaker to a regular bluetooth headset that only supports the headset and hands-free profiles? If not, I may need to see how feasible it would be for me to make one.
I have been searching in vane for Android software that would play regular audio through a regular bluetooth ear piece (that is normally used for a phone) rather than the external speaker or audio jack.
If anyone knows of such an animal, please let us know.
I realize what you're asking for, and I'm just going to tell you, odds are it's not going to happen. From what I've heard, the Bluetooth API's are fairly limited, and telling the system to use a BT Profile for something it wasn't meant for (and will sound horrible on, nevermind kill the battery life of your headset) won't be easy.
I'm not saying it's impossible, just not very likely to happen at this time. You'd probably be better off getting a decent pair of BT headphones instead. Sorry.
It won't work. Different protocols. If you get a bluetooth stereo headset that has a mic then it will work with both protocols.
This has been on the top of my list (along with a widget for enabling/disabling background data) since I got my Evo. I used this feature a lot on my Moto Q9C.
But I hadn't been able to find anything until now.
The audio quality isn't great but so far "Super BT Mono Froyo Free" is working well enough. I haven't disconnected my headset yet, so I don't know if it will reboot the phone. But the comments in the marketplace say to use a task killer if it happens.
I'm actually considering getting the full $6 version after the 5 days are up.
I just wish there was a way to make the call button function with the media player instead of starting the voice dialer.
Edit:
Have to change the media volume via settings or when the screen is off to increase music volume.
My jabra bluetooth headset allows this to happen but that bluetooth is meant to stream music through it also.
Sent from my GirLiE Evo with Tapatalk
what about these: http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Black-Motorola-S9-HD-S9HD-Wireless-Stereo-Headphone-/260631900070?pt=Bluetooth_Wireless_Products&hash=item3caedf2fa6
granted, they ship from Hong Kong so you're looking at a good 1-3 weeks for delivery (i got mine in about a week and a half)
But anyways, they work great for me. they answer calls, control track skipping, play/pause and volume. i love 'em.
App Work Around
I had the same issue with my headset. I went to the Android Market and searched. There are multiple apps out there. I got BTmono Free which allows you to play audio over your bluetooth if you pay for the $1 version you get more options. There are a few more other programs out there that do the same thing.
Good luck.
Thanks for the find Abini. d/l'd BTmono and it works like a champ for playing both music and for Netflix on my rooted EVO 2.2

Parrot car kit a2dp experience

Just wondering whether anyone else has connected their phone (I have a HD7) to a car kit or similar?
Here's my experience with Parrot Mki9100.
Using the parrot controls:
Most things work. Play and pause work, voice control works either by syncing your contacts to the parrot or by not syncing and then using the phones voice control.
For some reason if you pause the music you cant press play on the parrot kit again, you have to go back into the phone to press play.
Forward and back for tracks works, the skip forward and back doesnt.
Of course you can control from the phone however you want. I'm sad that the promised voice control of the zune interface didnt come through.
But the biggest problem is a slight crackle with the music. It's not a massive problem and I've not used any other devices so it might be that I'm expecting too much of bluetooth a2dp and i'm happy using it like this. But at certain types during songs which have lots of guitar going on you get a crackle.
I was trying to work out if it was the phone or parrot, so i've connected my phone to my laptop, playing music now and the same lovely crackle. Anyone else experienced the same?
Thanks and hope this was helpful to someone
I just connected mine to my car for A2DP as well (Samsung Focus). It streams music fine but my play/pause/skip controls don't work (they did on my WM 6.1 device). I also have the same issue of having to use the phone to resume after a call.
I get the slight distortion as well at HF (just from tweeters). I believe this is b/c A2DP includes compression in the protocol (its not full 20-20k bandwidth). Its only on a few songs for me and something I can live with.
I am experiencing the same thing. However, the bluetooth stack on wp7 is way...way better and works with parrot better than any of the previous wm versions.

WP7 and Bluetooth Controls

My handset upgrade is coming up and I will be jumping on WP7 after a year with Android. To be more specific, the HD7. I've pretty much crammed as much info about WP7 as possible right now, but there's still one thing I'm not sure about, and that's bluetooth AVRCP. I thinking about getting a pretty decent stereo system with bluetooth and comes with a remote and I wonder if I would be able to fully control the music in WP7.
I paired my samsung sbh600 with my focus last night, play/pause/volume/next track/previous track all worked no problem...sound quality was pretty decent too, though a graphic equalizer would really help
oh yeah, and they got plenty loud too
jmerrey,
have you tried videos? i also have the Focus and for music it seems to work, but for videos the audio does not come through bluetooth and AVRCP does not work either. same on the HTC Surround and LG Quantum. not sure if it's just my bluetooth device, Jabra BT3030, but it worked fine with a Samsung MP3 player and a Microsoft KIN.
Same Bluetooth issue here
Samsung Focus
AT&T
When connected to my Sony DR-BT22 headset, phone calls are fine, Zune is fine, but if I switch over to play Youtube videos, the sound will switch to the handset itself. I can't find a setting to change it. Anyone have any ideas?
Everything plays through the wired headphones without an issue when I connect that way.
Ok great, so no one is experiencing any bluetooth problems? Specifically AVRCP.
I had a Philips tapster SHB7110 and my HD7 couldn't see it. I had to sell it because it became useless. It paired well with my HD2.

Me too. If you play videos in Zune, the phone only uses external speaker not the bluetooth. It's annoy MS needs to fix it.
