You need to find the app that is causing it and uninstall it in market, did you install Locale?

how can I know which app did this without uninstalling all then reinstalling to find the cause? Not very efficient.
Yes I bought locale.

What he said...retrace your steps in the Market App and one by one uninstall the most recent apps until you find the culprit.

Local has been known to cause this. Uninstall it, and also any plug-ins it installed and then check your app manager.

I've got the same problem. Also installed locale.
For now I cant be bothered to uninstall. But I can access Manage Applications via Task Manager (com.futonredemption.taskmanager).
Menu > More > Manage Applications
But if you find the culprit I'd be interested to know.

It prolly is locale + meeting plug-in
But since the phone is working well, and I can manage apps through app brain, I will not take any further action.

I have the same problem and have locale installed.
Slightly annoying - hopefully they will fix it.

You know what. I realized I have locale calendar plug in installed and turns out its a paid app. I found it on the net and thought it was a free app.
So maybe because its a "cracked" app I cannot access the manage applications.

That sucks man. I did a little digging and their project has a site on googlecode: https://code.google.com/p/ebookdroid/downloads/detail?name=ebookdroid-1.6.6.apk
Sounds like you may have gotten a bad playstore apk... have you tried this?
Go to Settings
Select Applications ->Manage Applications or Apps
Select All (Look for ALL on top menu or swipe to the right to get to ALL)
Select Google Play Store
Tap Force Stop and tap Uninstall updates.
Go back to All and select Google Services Framework.
Select Clear Data.
Turn off (shut down) your device and turn it back on.
Open Play Store and see if you can log into your account and download apps again.

Well if you uninstall your updates/clear cache/ and re login you will not loose any apps. It would just force your tab to download whatever apps have failed, and request new info from google (hopefully clearing your errors). From what I have seen, that 497 error has been happening a lot lately and when it does it fails on all downloads. Let me know if you try it, and what your results are. I am curious...

If your device is rooted use Root Uninstaller. You can uninstall system apps.

Hi guys, i have the same problem whit my G8. I can't find the retail demo in any folder. How can i delete it?
YESSSSSSS !!!! i find !!!!
i do a search in root explorer, in search i write apk and in the results there is. So i delete it and i solved the problem!!
I also managed to find the retail demo application using 'root explorer' but it's not giving me any options to force delete the application. If i delete the individual system files of the application, would i cause stability issues with the phone?

Try Amazon FireTV Utility App, it may work.
Or you can install DU speed booster and uninstall apps that do not show up in the apps list. There are a lot of apps that will show all apps even ones that do not show up in the apps list, but DU speed boosster is a great app with a few good features beside having an app manager.
thanks. ill give them a try.

[HELP] Locate and delete apk responsible for persistent OTA Update icon on taskbar

Hello everybody,
Prior OOS 4.x.x I was able to locate the OnePlusOTA.apk in the system files and stop the annoying persistent icon from occupying space, as well as the activity to it that drains battery. But now after the N update there is no such apk or at least I haven't been able to find it, so if anyone has an idea what to do to get rid of that service, please help.
P.S. I have a note from before that says I shouldn't try to disable SystemUpdate service via MyAndroidTools so this is probably a no-go.
Thanks in advance!
Go to Settings > Apps
make sure show system apps is checked
look for System Updates and disable app

I checked there before, now checked again and there's no option to disable it, it's grayed out. Force stop would not persist upon reboot.

EDIT: This made me think about it, so I went into Titanium Backup and froze it. Icon dissapeared immediately, I hope the process was frozen with it too, since it took like 3% battery in just 24 hrs. -.-
All in all I think this has been solved. Thanks!

Question My banking application will not allow me to enter that I am using Whatsapp PLUS

Hi.
Today I needed to pay something through my banking application, but the application did not allow me access because it detected malicious software on my phone and it is Whatsapp PLUS, which I have to uninstall in order to enter the banking application.
What should I do now if I use Whatsapp PLUS all the time, but at the same time I need access to my banking application?
How does a banking application detect that I am using an illegal Whatsapp Plus application?
Is there a way around it?
Thanks a lot.
And for info root I have over Magisk.
This might seem trivial, but have you tried revoking the "Get info about installed apps" permission?
Most apps use this to index all your apps and check for so-called "malicious" package names.

What should I do?
Even if I freeze WhatsApp via titanium backup, the bank's application still notifies me that there is malicious software on my device - WhatsApp.
That I should just uninstall it.

go to your banking app's "App Info" page, under permissions, look for "Get info about installed apps" and if it is "Allowed", change it to "Deny"
this is assuming you are on MIUI. I'm sure other ROMs also have a similar permission.

What is the package name of your whatsappPlus app? You should find it in the "App Info" page for the app. Should be something like "com.whatsapp"

There is no such setting about allowing the installation of applications under permissions - allowed / deny

In that case you either modify the app itself - use apk editor to decompile app , edit manifest.xml and remove permissions like "query all packages" from it . Compile the app and run it again. This might work but if app is protected in some way that it detects modification you might get banned from it or worse :/
Other way is to isolate WhatsApp Plus by using tools like virtual xposed - basically a virtual container. You can install WhatsApp in there and it shouldn't cause any issues but I'm not sure you'll be able to receive notifications... ( You can try installing bank app in there instead but I'm not sure how that'll work... Either it will detect root/xposed or the container itself will allow querry all packages to seep through into main os - this depends on whether virtualxposed has declared permission for querying packages or not )
Third option is probably the best one - Uninstall and use web browser to access banking.
maybe whatsapp plus is indeed malicious
use malwarebytes for android to check whether whatsapp plus is malicious or not
