Apps Missing in the Market

Like a lot of people on this board i got my T-mobile Desire delivered this morning. I started downloading all my apps from the market place, and noticed some are missing. It's not just paid apps, but free ones as well. Has anyone else noticed this?
I can't find:
Record It (paid)
Battle for Mars (paid)
Tapatalk (paid or free)
and others. Can anyone else see these in the market?
I'm also noticing this but i thought it was just paid apps. Can't find abduction or what the doodle. There's also no top paid option when going through the categories
I'm not at home, typing this from the desire. Might be a good idea to try and install another version of market.apk
It just might be that these applications aren't compatible with Android 2.1 targets.
I don't think it's a compatibility issue. Why would they disable paid apps tab then? There's something fishy going on.
I can't find half of my apps, even the one I've paid for while on G1!

Those 3 apps you listed are missing from my market place but I still have the 'Top Paid' tab, I don't know why you are missing that but the applications are probably due to compatibility.
I've had this problem before on my hero with some custom roms, never found a way to fix it.
And if i remember correctly when the hero was first launched some people on orange or t-mobile where having problems with missing market apps.
National Rail for UK train enquiries is missing from the market too
I have removed content lock from my t-mobile account and now I get all tabs in the market. But I still can't see certain apps.
Something strange or I am having yet another senior moment.
I went in to Manage my applications and in there is Ringtone Trimmer, I thought I would make me some ringtones, looked for it in programmes and it is not there. I then thought it must be in Marketplace but alas no!! How can I have an application in Manage my applications and yet not have the application????

Go to the music app, play a song and then try to set it as a ringtone, it will give you the trimming options.
Klaxon is version 427 from the market on my G1, but a much older 310 for the desire....
Im finding this on a few different apps and am not sure why...
I think we have run into this problem before. If I remember rightly (please feel free to correct me if not) it has to do with Google not recognising the phone correctly when you access the store. I believe this is a server sided fix that Google have to do.
Like I said, correct me if I am wrong.
I contacted T Mobile about the issue and they said google approved the rom so the issue must be with the apps / developers.
Great load of help that is. ffs!

I noticed the same, can however install it from here: nationalrail . ktbm . com
For non-paid apps its not such a difficulty getting them from elsewhere, and installing via Astro or ADB, but for PAID apps(like klaxon) to be left with an old version - or unable to install at all - its a real pain.
Seems to be a known issue, look at the android marketplace support forum of Google, they are talking about it.
google.com/support/forum/p/Android%20Market/
looks like it will just take time for Google to register the 'fingerprint' of the Desire ROM before we get full access then.....
What a nonsense way to run the Market!
To be fair guys, the Desire isn't even supposed to be released yet.
Wait until it is officially released and if there are still market problems, then you can complain.

Define 'Officially' - Its available via a reputable company (TMO) and as such should be supported 100%
HTC/TMO and GOOGLE should have had this sorted before it was sent out to customers.

WaveSecure - Free for Life/Device Lifetime Android Only

Hey guys, thought you might all find this sueful as I have and I find the pplication to run very well.
http://wavesecure.com
http://m.wavesecure.com - Anyone brosing on their phone can get it straight.
Or alternatively check the Market for it ...
I'm guessing it has to be installed on the phone before March 31 to get the free for lifetime offer, so for those of us still waiting for our Desires it won't be free.
However, I am unsure how much use this app has, since a hard reset is always an option. After that, the phone can be sold (or used) "as new" by the perp. Granted, your personal data is safe in this case, but to make the phone unuseable, you'll have to get the IMEI banned with the network.
Hardreset seems to be the only way to remove it but then again how many people get a phone and hardreset it before it even boots?
If you're quick enough and the person is slow enough you may be able to get the location of the phone.
As it's free I thought it might help even a little in such situations ...
The end date is a major shame . The good think is though it works on other devices, may be possible to ask them to transfer from one device to another.
A knowledgeable thief would probably do a hard reset, but at least your personal data (that is not on the memory card, that is) is safe that way.
I've sent them an email asking about the end date and whether it has to be installed on the phone before that date to be valid. I'll report back when/if I get an answer.

According to the FAQs on their website -
"On Symbian and Windows Mobile phones, you will be prompted to put in your PIN before you can uninstall the application. On Android and BlackBerry phones, WaveSecure can be uninstalled without a PIN."

There is an app on the Market to combat this, if you uninstall either it will lock and you need to put your pin in ...
Hey guys,
I figured out how I can get WaveSecure for free before the end date and without having the Desire yet. Basically I have a dual boot with Android on my Diamond 2 and I installed WaveSecure on that from the Android market and registered my phone and SIM with it. When you go on the WaveSecure website, login to your account then go settings and there is a disconnect option. From there you can disconnect the current phone from the account and connect a new one. So when I buy a SIM free desire I will put my current SIM in it and change the device from the website.
Hope this helps some of you.
That's REALLY impressive. Nice find!
I downloaded the .apk using a Spoofed User Agent on Firefox to make the Wavesecure website believe I was browsing using the Android Browser.
I assume I would have to install this on an Android device to qualify me for the free subscription?

[Q] RockPlayer Missing from the Android Market ?

Hi
I can't find RockPlayer on the android market does anyone know what happened to it ?
Me neither
PM me if you need a copy
it looks like they took it down a little while back?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=704261
You can get it from here.
You can also look for arcMedia in the Market, which also plays DivX files - it's not as good quality as RockPlayer IMHO, but it is good enough.
Regards,
Dave

That's very old - pre-Market release. It does seem that it has been pulled from the Market now though.
Regards,
Dave
Thanks for the feedback guys but does anyone know why it was pulled from the market ?
google pulled every version apart from the ARMv6 version, i assume the dev pulled that version out of protest or somthing
AFAIK google classed the app as Warez as they did not have a licence to run the codecs it was running (or something like that). This is why its no longer in the market, and it may not make a return.
All versions have now been pulled from the market.
See this is what pisses me off about android, alot of people moan about supporting developers, well i supported RockPlayer by purchasing the full version for £10 now there no longer in the market, so i got a free app, paid extra money to support a developer i thought was actually worth investing in and now they've gone from the market, if it was there choice or googles ive had no information or comunication from RockPlayer on how or if there will be any updates from this point on or have i just given them £10 for nothing. I paid for the full Arm 7 version even though i have found a cracked version that gives the full version with the validate option removed and all the paid features added, but still thought they were worth supporting.
I hope im wrong & rockplayer will someday return, but stuff like this makes me think i should just use illegally obtained apps instead of throwing money down the drain.

We are returned as a unified package, thus users need not worry about CPU model things, please search RockPlayer now in Market. And it is always available on our website anplayer.com .
Would you please share me any original words or info from Google side? Indeed they didn't gave email notification or any explanation, even we complained through Market support page. We guess it is because our app cannot run on all CPU, there are so many video players using FFmpeg, but seems we are only one distinct CPU for performance.

[Q] What should I know as new Android and Desire HD user?

Hi,
I'll get my new Desire HD this week. I had a nokia 5800 before. What should I know about Android and the Deisre HD.
Wich apps should I install?
What are the most important apps?
What are the differences between the hacking and modding of Nokia devices and Android devices?
Thanks for your answers.
Coming from an identical scenario as yourself (Nokia 5800XM -> Desire HD). There are many things I noticed from Symbian to android, mainly the larger support for applications (No more signing unverified apps!) and better web browsing.
For apps, most web browsers from Symbian OS such as Opera and skyfire are available!
For apps check out appbrain.com, seems more reliable than the app store.
For modding (also known as rooting in the android world) customising an android phone is about 100x easier, there's no certificates to trick and there's a much bigger user base.
I hated my Nokia 5800, most unreliable gadget I ever owned claiming 3 on my insurance for hardware / software problems.
Hello & welcome.
Depending on how you use your Desire HD (DHD), will decide what apps you should have.
Must haves for me are,
*FREE*
- Juice Defender - It will try to minimise the drain on your battery by intelligently turning data on/off
- SMS Backup + - Backs up your SMS, MMS & Call logs to your GMail account.
- XDA - These forums on your DHD, perfect.
- PhoneMarks - Sync's your bookmarks in chrome to your DHD.
- Last.fm - Excellent personalised radio.
- Dropbox - Sync files from practically anywhere, to anything.
- Linda File Manager - Manage files on your DHD & SD card.
- LauncherPro - Alternative Home screen interface, lots of customisation available.
*PAID*
- Ultimate Juice - Paid addon for Juice Defender, more customisation available.
- Better Keyboard - Alternative keyboard, IMO best keyboard available.
*ROOTED*
- Titanium Backup - Backs up apps to your SD card & Dropbox, also removes apps. Donate/Paid version available.
- AdFree Android - Stops those annoying in-app adverts.
With those apps you should not run into any problems.
As for the whole Android experience, its entirely what you want it to be. If your happy with HTC Sense, you've got yourself a great handset. If your into trying something new, cutting edge (atleast with Android) then your in great company.
certainly get dropbox. massively useful.
angry birds is a must
i ASTRO file manager instead of linda, but ive not tried linda.
app 2 sd is useful since the DHD has little internal memory.
GPS test: useful for getting the GPS to work the first time (might take 45 minutes to get its first lock, but then less than 3 minutes thereafter. doesnt seem to know what side of the world to look at the first use)
sketch online is great fun. simple fun.
switchpro widget will help you save battery by letting you turn your 3g off, but it costs 68 pence.
teeter is a free version of labyrinth, the marble maze game.
uninstaller is useful since the inbuilt one is slow and useless.
yell.com
i would advise you use the stock HTC sense UI before loading launcher pro or anything. im still using sense simply because it does everything i want it to do.
i had an n96 before this (the most unsupported phone EVER) and rooting my DHD was so easy in comparason. visionary+ is what i used, but look for a guide.
Thanks alot for the good answers. On Friday I'll get my DHD.

Assuming your from the UK, where did you get yours?
I recommend a decent Backup app. So once you've entered all of your contacts or appointments or settings - you can save them on your sdcard for a rainy day/new rom etc.
I've been using the trial of MyBackupPro for the past couple of weeks. There might be better ones but I haven't tried any yet.

[Q] How to install jailbroken apps for HTC desire

I'm fairly new to this, I have recently Jailbroken my HTC desire which was locked to Vodafone, I have been told the security has been removed and it's unlocked and any software etc can now be added. How do I now install software or jailbroken apps for free, I know this can be done on the IPHONE does anyone know what I have to do on the HTC desire to get similar free apps etc?
NO Jailbroken apps for Android based devices. Those are for the IPHONE.
And if you ask for cracked software - you'll have a short life here
We are not the iPhone here so it is called rooting/rooted/root, etc. As nagypapi said, if you go around posting about "cracked apps" then yes, you will have a short life here. All I'm going to say is you can get it all from the market. Pay for them if you want but most of the apps are free and are really good for free. You can install apps through say a file manager, without using that Android market but that is all I am saying. You accepted the terms so you should of read them.
Mods, if I have over stepped the mark, sorry but delete this post or edit it.
Buy the apps if you want to use them.
