Sure there are located some other threads with several builds. But this one seems to be the fastest and runs very smooth on my HTC Touch Diamond GSM. Like in all other builds stumbling around this forum the package should work with all compatible devices.
I am still not able to link something here as the mods didn't update my account. I will update this thread frequently when I am able to link.
If you are interested in watching how the latest build boots up on our Diamond then check out:
Diamond Android
Other builds took about 10mins to boot up on my device. This one needs about 6mins (see video on posted url above)
i will test it and give you feedback, thank you
it's really good until the step where i have to sign in to the google account. All the lame things begin there: it doesn't find my gsm internet connection and if i want to connect by wifi, i can't cause the router has set manual ips and dns's which seems that can't be set to android. What's the solution?
link not working
hi,
the link is not working could u please post it again it gives me a network error!!!
thanks
very good job, this android is really amazing, however i can't figure out how to make my gsm internet to work overall very responsive! How u wake up the phone after a call???
i just got it to work but it's not really fast, in fact it's slow and it gets slower if you use an app.
wifi : not tested
gps : not tested
camera : not working
3g internet : works
market : works
phone : can't make calls (didn't know why)
media galery/music : empty
usual issues still there like battery draining
yes, it slows down, but i can confirm: calls and sms are working!
Except for camera all works fine for me with this build. Of course Battery drains but this isn't fixed in any build as far as i know. I have tested out some builds outa there but this one did its job very good. Let me know if you encounter any other problems. I have also tested a Android1.5 build which is extremely fast. I mean it is super fast but some things like wifi bluetooth calls etc didn't work but i would say it was about 3-5x faster than this build.
It's great that I can try to use Android on my Diamond. But how can I do if I want to return Windows Mobile OS?

colorfull X
Hi!
After starting android, the only thing i see, after a few command lines, is a nice animation of a "colorfull X". Don't know how to describe it.
Any idea? what do i have to delete to "reset" android. If I delete the files i copied to my internal storage, the device remebers the calibration of my touchscreen... So, there has to be additional files, created on the first startup.

you have to delete data.img,system.sqsh then copy again system.sqsh to make it work...sometimes you need to do this or you'll get stuck at the booting animation..if you want to remove android delete all files you copied then delete ts-calibration and data.img
Take a see.
Working nicely. Except for the battery drain but thats unavoidable.
didnt find much difference between the overclocked and the normal version.

Since I recognized LE versions have much better performance, I decided to grow my own stripped ROM, based on the new official Dopod WWE ROM.
The purpose of this ROM is NOT to have an out-of-the-box-everything-inside ROM for daily use. It's been stripped to gain maximum performance. Everything one needs additionally, one has to install manually.
It's name is Elise and here are
Elise's Core Features
What will you get?
Ultra Slim Mod of the last official Dopod Release (Build 17944.0.3.1).
Free Storage: 65.5 Mb
Free RAM (on cold boot) : 30 Mb
It's fast: \windows-directory read-time < 1s (after cold boot, not cached or tweaked! for even more performance use JJ's Pimp my Black Tool). Just before someone is wondering again: Yes, this is indeed a kind of system performance measurement.
What it does NOT have:
Office
ClearVue PDF Reader
User Feedback (and related SQM stuff)
Autoupdate
"Clear Storage"-Tool from Control Panel
MS Live Stuff
!!! >>> MMS Support <<< !!! (Does anyone use MMS?)
Games
Java
Streaming Media Player
VOIP
Transcriber
BT-HID Drivers, BT-USB Drivers, USB-HID Drivers (Note: USB and bluetooth is still working, of course, just those WM6-generally included subdrivers are removed)
Help (After a couple of testing hours it seems to be no issue.)
What's else DIFFERENT from the official ROM:
Standard Dialer is replaced by Marshall's Orange Dialer (Black Skin files will be uploaded soon and could also be extracted from Marshalls cabs). It's located in its own subdir.
Standard Patches like Bypassed Welcome, No Batt/ConnMgr-Icons in TaskTray, No Certifcates-Warning
HTC TaskManager 1.5 instead of 1.0
Own Theme
What does ist have ADDITIONALLY:
Nothing
Known Issues [Elise.12]:
Surfing through IE is not possible. URLs are not recognized as valid.
There are hidden ringtones, that can't be chosen in ControlPanel. Will be deleted on next release, to gain another 250kB of storage.
Revision-History
.12:
FIXED: Button 5 is linked to an non existing shortcut. (Mapped to fileExplorer)
FIXED: Notes Icon still there but app not working. (Removed)
FIXED: Incoming Call Ringtones can't be changed. DialPad beep can't be changed/disabled.
IMPRVD: Another 0.6Mb Storage
--> Download Elise.12 <--

thx! good work
Blah you should have at least left streaming media in there.. lol
it's the naked lunch ROM... for the best cook in tha house...
* Office
* MMS Support
* Streaming Media
* BT HID Drivers
* BT USB Drivers
* USB HID Drivers
can u remain these stuff??
That should be tasty
I'll try it tomorrow - looks very good.
nice work though not sure office should be removed since most hermes users have this phone as a mini laptop. I'm sure its fast! you won't have any issues with leaving the help app in although I recommend removing it completely
This ROM is screaming fast. Was getting worried that WM6 was always going to be sluggish on my 8525.

Is this the new ROM performance benchmark? I keep seeing it mentioned as though it is, therefore I must ask: How often does one actually do this in the course of normal usage?

They don't care because no "normal" person ever does it. They should do the "hidden for your protection" trick a-la Windows XP, etc.

1. Yes that's absolutely right. And that's the reason I removed nearly everything I could. And you will notice that this also will affect the overall OS performance. (There are some threads in the forum discussing this.)
2. Well, I think that you guys are smart enough to install the apps you really need on your own. Make sure that you don't spam the windows folder again.
3. No, I'm not going to release any cabs of the things I kicked. Sorry, really got no time for that . Office, Streaming Media and such stuff could be found in the forum. If you need the drivers and MMS, you need another ROM.
Wrong file on rapidshare!!!
Warning, unfortunatelly I upped a wrong file after the .11-Update. I therefore removed the download link. I'm currently fixing this issue. Just in case your ROM didn't work as expected.
The correct files have been upped again and are ready for download. See 1st post.

I know this has been/will be asked a million times over, but is there any noticable difference from the July 10 "Leak"?
In the settings screen shown on HTC's website, all information matches exactly the July 10 release.
Please advise.
Opera?
Anyone know if the Official ROM includes Opera, like the july10th did?
Thanks
Do this ROM got the enlarged status icons (volume, battery, etc.) screen when clicking on status icons like on the Telus leaked ROM?
If so, is there any way to remove it?
I tried HKLM->Software->HTC->EnlargeTitleBar->Enable=0 without success.

Yes, it does include Opera Mobile 8.65.....
Curious.
How come the leaked (about a week ago) version is larger than the one just put on the HTC site?
3.03.651.4 (7/10/08) is 78.9mb
3.03.651.4_2 (7/18/08) is 76.6mb?
What (if anything) is missing or changed?
i dont see the download file - just a blank screen with FAQs etc?????
Where did it go?
I'm guessing that it was not supposed to be posted until Monday or something, because at this point it's not up there anymore.
Here is the link to the file off of the HTC site (yes the official site) which was saved in my broswer history:
http://216.139.227.226/RUU_PPST_Vogue_SPRINT_WWE_3.03.651.4_2_Radio_3.42.30_AM_NV_2.04_Ship.exe
regarding the difference (from boggsie over at PPCGeeks):
I compared the last two RUU_WWE's and while the 2.nbh file did change, everything else was the same.
I compared the contents of the 2.nbh files and the changes apperar to be very, very minor.
SYS folder is identical (binary comparison) except for \Metadata\default.hv
OEMDrivers folder is identical except for a single DSM file and the corresponding RGU file. The difference in the RGU file was one single line: "ROMVersion"="3.03.651.6" This, in contrast to the filename and the update screen, which both include: "3.03.651.4"
One difference that does draw my attention is that the PPST CAB files have the same names (PPST_08516_7500_SPCS_2.04.sa.CAB) but the files are different and the file contents are quite a bit different.
Other than these items, the differences seem to be limited to the way that the released build was packaged ...
For example, the last leaked build had nested in the OEM\OperatorPKG\Hidden.cab file, another cab file that included "Telus_NIM" which is not present in today's released build.
Best regards,
-boggsie

I installed the Telus ROM and it does not include Opera. Also, the Telus ROM does include some crap like Telus Navigator (very bas GPS software) and Telus Icons (Today addon) and Telus theme. They should not be included in Sprint ROM.

- d/l ROM .exe file into PC
- attach Touch to USB to PC
- get ActiveSync working
- do any backing up that you may require as ALL Touch memory will be wiped
- run ROM .exe file from PC
- follow instructions, take ~10minutes
- sometimes requires an additional HARD reset (TALK+END+reset button) after install is done to bring in Opera and a few other goodies.

Something must have gone wrong
Upgraded using the download link above
and it worked without a hitch. Thanks!
GPS works like a charm in both Google maps and Live Search maps.
The Opera browser is Opera Mobile. I used Opera Mini, which is free by the way up till now, and I like it a lot better than Opera Mobile so it's a little confusing why they put this version in but then after all.. it is Sprint. Not a lot of advantage to Opera Mobile over IE to me.
The Sprint tech who reset my phone the other day because it was dropping calls all the time said Win 6.1 solves 'a lot of problems' in that area. Who knows. Maybe. Let's hope so. I will say that after they did the hard reset it quit dropping calls so beware that if you load a lot of software it can effect the call dropping. I had Skype, changed the touch flow settings, different java, opera mini, etc etc etc etc etc. so who know's which one messed it up.
GPS is cool. The new Qwerty keyboard is a huuge improvement and I probably won't need TouchPal now. I will load Opera Mini and hopefully it works.
Thanks for the update Sprint/HTC! Thanks too for the links and help above!
p.s. tried opera mini and several minutes after using it the phone locked up. sick of messing with that and don't want to bother loading
another version of java again.
bottom line... Windows Mobile still doesn't have a browser that's worth a crap.
...more
GPS works in Google Maps and Live Search Maps
Works in both for me. Didn't have to change any settings.
I thought it wasn't working at first
In Google Maps you have to have My Location enabled and select Use GPS in the menu
In LiveSearch Maps you have to select Center on GPS in the menu to show your position on map
select View, Lat/Lon to display your position
It takes around 30 seconds to get a lock for me in Redmond, Wa area once I select Use GPS
Google maps it shows it's tracking 6 satellites.
LiveSearch map does not show the number of satellites.
Upgraded smoothly!

I just upgraded from the leaked version to version 3.03.651.4 without a hitch! The only changes I noticed are the Sprint Navigation (actually works), this one has the Opera browser, and it upgraded me from Windows Basic to Professional! Not a bad deal!
The only thing I am noticing so far is I can't connect to the internet. I suspect it's because the current username (located under "Settings>Device Information") show "[email protected]", and should show my actual Sprint email as the username. I think this will change once it's fully provisioned after the ROM upgrade. I'll keep everyone updated on this.
If such a ROM exists, i would like to use it to brand my phone to 3 to get the free skype calls, is there such a ROM?
what do you mean to get free skype calls?
You would still have to be on the 3 network.

Sorry but perhaps you should be clearer next time about what you need and why.
You actually don't need a rom you need the software. You might be better off putting this in the general hacking section as I am sure all you need to do is get it from a WinMo based device. Not specifically a diamond.
Hi all, perhaps you may help out here.I have an HTC touch diamond and I'm in South Africa.
Now,I want to flash my rom as well to escape all the problems that are ROM related.I came across this rom:1.94.421.2 wwe,has anyone tried it and saw it is any good for a South African based HTC Diamond p3700.
Thanx

you do actually need to download the 3 skype software, they don't let the normal skype software use the free calls things
http://www.three.co.uk/Internet_Services/Call_chat/Call_chat_service?content_aid=1220455597804
the only way to get the 3 skype software at the moment is to either buy a 3 skype phone, or use a ROM that has the software on it already. i also have a kaiser which i have heard has an official UK 3 rom, but don't use it as my primary phone.
3 have said they will be enabling all 3g phones to use their own version skype software later this year though, but i want to start using it now.

keep reverting back to the Sony if i need it but sim swopping is a nightmare

Yeah it works for the free calls. I left it running on a skype call for half an hour and my voice minutes remained the same.
I'm not sure if there's a 3 windows live messenger for windows mobile. Someone got a java version working but it's a little low res for the diamond. Works great nonetheless.

Thats strange, maybe it could be down to the rom youre using. Ive tried it on several roms and it worked fine.
The only thing I do is change BackupHost, CallURL, DefaultSKHost and BaseURL to http://mobile.three.co.uk/948, and run the program. That guide doesnt tell you to change 'BaseURL' which could be the problem. Do you change the phone number in the registry or anything else?

btw, which roms have u tried it on?

Thats great that its working now. The link I provided had a different number to the one that came up in my registry so I think 3 changed it, therefore it wouldve been a bad idea to change the number in your registry.
I tried it on Nataly 2.4, Shaks 4.20 and several Energyroms. I think some roms revert the registry back to default after soft resets.
just as an aside, i recently bought a skypephone (S2), this is before i found out i could use iskoot on any WM6 phone.
the version on the S2 is 2.9.18. it doesn't appear to be a java app, but the voice quality is a lot lower than what i get on Windows XP Skype.
is the latest WM Iskoot version the 1.1 version? has anyone tried signing up through their form to see if they have updated it at all? i might give that a try...
3 have stated on their website that they will soon make the skype software available to all 3g users. i'm guessing they are going to do this using java, as how else would they be able to support the myriad phones OSes out there?
edit: looks like 1.1 is the latest....
Hi,
For those interested in the effort to port Android to the Excalibur, wing-linux android 0.4pre4 has been released with support for the Excalibur. Installation should be pretty easy (must install to the micro SD card).
For details and download: http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/wing-linux/wiki
This project is looking for more developers, so you're welcome to join.
Please Note: to reset your device after using android you'll have to take out the battery. As mentioned, the software does not install to the phone's ROM, so it's nice and safe no flashing!
Biggest issue is that sound doesn't work yet. GSM works if your SIM card has no pin. For information on setting up GPRS, please see the wing-linux forum.
Please test all you can, and report back either here, or even better at the wing-linux forum.
Cheers,
Update:
To fix the problem that the console is rotated the wrong way, after installing, go to the linux folder on the SD card and edit the "default.txt". In the CMDLINE variable, remove "fbcon=rotate:3".

Hi,
For those interested in the effort to port Android to the Excalibur, wing-linux android 0.4pre4 has been released with support for the Excalibur.
Cheers,

Hey great news......
Good going ..........
Hats off to all the geniuses on this project,
and a special thanks to UCCELLINO to get it on our beloved DASH
Hey Just one question ,
Is it the same cab for all the models ?
Tested
Tested!
And...
Success!
It works...
Since it is nowhere near finished ill mention only the cool things...
D-pad works and all of the other buttons too... (qwerty including)
Amazingly good integration for non touch screen phone... (I could almost imagine using it)
I would played bit more with it but to my biggest disappointment
THE SCREEN IS INTERLACED AND FLASHING(flickering) ALL THE TIME
Tested on MDA Mail
I almost forget: Thanks to all the involved geniuses...
I still can't believe it works, simply amazing
woohoo!!!!!!!
cant get it to start it fails and takes me to command prompt
Anyone has screenshot of this new Wing Linux?
Hi,
Thank you for doing this testing... the interlaced screen issue does not happen on my device... maybe there really are different models. I will check this out - it is probably a problem with screen timings. If you want to help, check out the Excalibur forum on the wing-linux forum and try another device profile.... Once I know what other device worked better for you, I can try and support it better within the Excalibur profile.
For other people: there is one main cab to install and then another smaller one to set it up for the Excalibur.
Once again, thank you to all for the help in testing! Next step is working audio and then we can really be on our way

What process did you go through exactly... this may be a bug can you give me any more info?
Just some points:
it must install to the micro SD, which needs atleast 250+ MB free available
you must install two cabs, the main one and then a little one for the Excalibur
in theory, if you do get to a command prompt, you can log in and use linux to start android.

Sorry, no screenshots as yet. But it runs Android Cupcake, and pretty fast too (for an old phone). Really, this project is going somewhere, and Android is very usable on the device with such a great keyboard.
Perhaps a very techy person could make a little video?
All you need is an micro SD card, may be 30minutes and being prepared to pull your battery when you're done...
If you're a linux programmer, that'd be cool too.. I desperately need info on how to reset the Excalibur in software
Cheers

23506 BETA Download bottom of this post
This is the new WM6.5 23506 - I'm Starting with a BETA - I need feedback please so I can create a working version... As this is a BETA, there will probably be some issues with it. As always, Back Up Your Data!
Only download and install this version if you like to tinker and deal with possible problems. So far, it's been good, aside from the below issue.
I just had an issue a few moments ago. My phone was off, (So I Thought). It was checking my Gmail account, then went to sleep during the download, then froze while it was off for about 1 hour. It drained about 1/4 of my battery and I had to Soft Reset to get it back. Please beware there MAY be issues, or this could have been one of those rare & wonderful WM glitches that happens occasionally.
I was going to try to fix the problems in the previous 23504 ROM, but I've been using 23506 for a bit today. It seems to be VERY Responsive, Stable, and has Plenty of memory available (Some things seem REALLY Fast). I have cooked a Stock ROM with a couple "SuperSport" mods, (Mostly Visual), and it is looking like 25.76MB Free Ram (20-22 after a few hours) and 67.14MB Free Storage. This is leaving in SkyMarket, Live, Themes, Ringtones, and all the WM Widgets. The only things I removed are AutoUpdate (Does Nothing Anyways), MSTag (Not Compatible with Trinity Camera), and some extra files for other resolutions. Otherwise, as it was made. Oh, I changed some Images for my Theme. I may create a Cab to put all images back to stock if I get time. This will probably be a highly requested option.
Pin Lock appears to work properly now. I know a few of you will like that.
I plan to release the Stock ROM tonight as a BETA so that I can get feedback. My phone's WiFi is still broken, so Please test it, and I'd like feedback on the BT File Transfer. I can see some of the files are there, but don't know if it's working.
I don't have a lot of time to test everything on this, so would appreciate help with that. When I get enough feedback, I'll fix what I can and release a couple flavors of it.
I'm really proud of this one. It's the first one where I did not borrow a completed SYS/XIP from someone else. I assembled this one myself, so everything is as it should be and very clean. Also could be a Train Wreck.
One pet peeve: HoneyComb is Back! Eewww I'll try to figure out how to get rid of that for those who want.
Thanks to everyone for your feedback, good and bad. I'm trying to make our Trinity run a little longer...
PS: Because I have no idea how to move them, I've got 127 Modules in Slot #0 and 254 in Slot #1. Not sure if it would help or hurt to move them as it runs really nice now. Maybe it would be REALLY fast if moved?[/COLOR][/I]"
Each Different Version will be listed with a Download Link for each. In each Download Link I will post the Self Extracting Kitchen, an RUU_Signed.nbh, and an AutoFlash file.
What is AutoFlash you ask? I've taken the RUU file, added the Flashing Program, and Packaged it all up into an AutoExecuting AutoFlashing Program, and, it's a smaller download than the RUU alone. Pretty cool huh? Yes, others have already done this, but I'm going to make it a standard practice from now on.
"AutoFlash (tm), Making Flashing Socially Acceptable, One Package at a Time!"
My recommendation for Flashing is:
Make sure you have Hard SPL on your Phone. I recommend Olipro 1.20 - Click Here for More Info
Be sure your battery is at least 50% full.
Start your phone in Tri Color Screen mode. Steps below
--Unplug your phone from USB
--Hold down the Power & Camera Buttons
--While still holding them down, press the Reset Button using the Stylus
--Release the Reset Button, but continue to hold the Power/Camera buttons until you see the Tri Color Screen
--Plug in the USB cable (if asked about installing a driver, do this), You should see USB in the White Box)
Now you can Flash.
Run the AutoFlash file for the ROM you've selected, or Flash using the Standard Flashing Program included in the Kitchen.
Enjoy!
DOWNLOAD
Thank you to EVERYONE on XDA. Chefs, Programmers, Cookers, Users, Noobs, everyone! You've ALL helped me to be able to do these. I'm sure I'll learn a LOT more as the days go by.
NEW!!! Color Themes!!! In Attachments!!! Also, Enable or Disable Startup Sound
Use these to Change the colors of the Today Screen, Menu Screen, and Dialer. Portrait & Landscape! Grid.zip is two cab files I made that will remove or add the Menu Grid.
Reserved..
Flashing as i post
Edit
Free Storage: 67.17 MB
Free Program: 21.12 MB
Softreset with Pinlock enabled functions again
Hi Supersport,
Just flashed, wifi works fine for me!!!
Do you remember? I had some problem with the 23504 version.
Thanks a lot
Videocall doesn't work :-(
Dear Supersport
Flashed the 23506 and have following observations:
1) PIN lock works
2) WIFI works
3) Communication manager when started from top bar does not start and had to start wifi fro connections.
4) Microsoft My Phone program is old one and have new cab file on my storage card so that I don't have to download again and again.
Will post further feedback tomorrow morning about battery performance and PIN lock problem, if any.

No, Videocall is something I'll have to add. This is just a Stock Version of the OS that does not include Video Calling. That feature is all but gone on most newer phones, I'm assuming. So, for the Trinity, we add it back in using an old dialer from our original OEM ROMs. This will come later when I get a chance to make different flavors of this ROM.
PS: Glad the WiFi is working for you. I hope it's the same for everyone. 23504 Varied from user to user.

Same thing here. CommManager is not included with the Stock OEM ROM as it is probably different from phone to phone. That will also be added in on future versions.
I'm glad to hear the other two things work.
I'm having a little trouble with my phone hanging during Email stuff. Anybody else experiencing this? Since my Radio is Bunged up, I'm not sure if it's just me...
Anybody get a chance to try BT File Transfer? Is it there or working? EDIT: My initial test tells me this is probably not working...
Does anybody remember how to get rid of the HoneyComb Frames?

The first one let me know which files I was looking for. Thank You AGAIN _X_! I pulled the cpr files from my 23504 and cabbed them. Now, you can add or remove the Grids per your liking. Just install either Cab and Restart. Now, if I cook without them in the future, you can easily add them back in.
Cabs in First Post. Unfortunately, I ran out of Attachment Slots (Max 8), so I zipped them together as Grid.zip Attached here seperately.
The following is the info/update in the morning:
1) Wifi works like a charm
2) Battery is stable during wifi usage and normal usage and no unusual drainage observed.
3) PIN lock works without any problem.
4) Synch with PC also works smoothly.
5) If there is no communication mamager in this version , then why it is shown when u press top bar phone signal sign? Please look in this as something else may be the reason for communication manager not working.

Actually, it's not included in the SYS normally. It's usually cooked in later by the chefs. I'm not sure why, as I think I remember it being there in the Older ROMs. It will be fixed on my next release. Yes, the reference is there in the Notifications, but the program itself is not.
I will need to be gone for a good part of the weekend, so I wanted to give you something to play with while I'm gone. I'll probably log in a few times using my phone, but not sure how much I'll be responding.
This is 23506 with some SYS packages removed. I added a few EXT packages to make it easier to work with and help with diagnosing.
Removed:
IE8 - IE6 Still there
LiveSearch
Skybox
Skymarket
WelcomeCenter - Seems there's a problem with this
WindowsLive
WindowsLiveIM
WMMoneyWidget
WMWeatherWidget

Have fun, and I hope it runs well for everyone. I haven't had much time to test this one either.
Get it in Post #1 using the DOWNLOAD link. Grab "AutoFlash 23506 Lite w Addons.exe" Should be finished uploading in about 5 Mins

Sorry, I screwed up the link. It's there now, along with this cab that will give you 4 rows with grid, for anyone who would prefer that (using typhoonk's cpr files I put a quick cab together). I might try editing the cpr files later so the grid is removed with 4 rows, we'll see.
No link for ROM found. Can you chk again.

Strange. I just looked, and it's there. Maybe try refreshing the page 1st page?
Found ROM now under same download link, which I had missed and am downloading the same. Cannot wait to try it.
Dear Supersport
Flashed AutoFlash 23506 Lite w Addons and looks good. On the outset, PIN lock, wifi is working well. Communication manager also gives confidence that all looks well. MS office alos working smoothly. Will play and post feedback tomorrow. Have a nice weekend.
