ads.netshelter.net - About xda-developers.com

Sometimes after the page finishes loading, my firefox freezes for a several seconds while loading stuff from ads.netshelter.net.
I understand that you need avertisments for proper running of the page, but this one is so annoying especially because it freezes firefox completely and i can't go to other tab while waiting
Anyone have the same problem?

You are right--this shouldn't happen. We are looking at ways of making the ads load indepedent of the rest of the page. We've just been so busy with the redesign lately... this is on my list though.

Can't use the forum at all today.
Takes over a minute to do anything while staring at "Connecting to ad4.netshelter.net..." in the status bar. Took me 10 minutes just to be able to post this.
I'll come back when it's gone.

Ricky's 6.1 with Opera - Home screen keeps popping up

Just flashed to the Ricky's latest Opera ROM, and starting to explore the new system, but I am having an odd problem. The home screen keeps popping up while I am in the middle browsing through menus. For example, I was trying to change my connection settings, and in the middle it just put me back at the home screen. This has happened at all menus, so I can't pinpoint the issue. I browse back with no issue, but it is annoying to be half way through something, and get booted back to the home screen, and have to start all over. Anyone have any insight into what my issue would be? Could it be a process, or program?
Edit:
Ok, my issue was a user error. I didn't know what the Time Out setting did under the Home Screen settings, and had set it to 10s. Should have played around more before post.

Fourm really laggy on my desktop, Takes 90 seconds to load every page.

So I try browsing the forums and learing about my Epic 4g. But every fourm page takes 90 seconds before I can scroll and look around. It's not my computer or internet because I am a member on 10 other various forums and I have never had a single problem like this.
It looks like the adds are causing the problem. The page loads, but it still said waiting on add.....? at the lower left bar on the browser. And every time it throwser IEX into not responding. Then it finally after 90 seconds starts and I can scroll just fine.
And Ideas on what I can do to resolve this? It's really a pain waiting that lng for the page to load.
if your on Chrome try using an ad blocking extension

I find that swiping to the right as the method for going back loads faster than the in-browser back button.
Hope that helps.
That's strange. On RT 8.0 back button is faster then swiping and also when swiping you can't touch or scroll anything until loading ends, but when using back button then you can.

I am also having this problem and noticed that it does that on IE Desktop and Metro. It is really annoying. It does not do that on my Note 2. I timed and it and it sometimes can take up to 10 seconds. Also has anybody else have issues with closing tabs. Sometimes the tabs become stagnate and can’t be closed unless restart IE Metro. I am currently running the Surface RT 8.1 with the latest updates. I love my tablet, but the whole browsing internet explorer is ruining it for me.
It's a lot better than it used to be. But it's still a little slow.
Not sure on the "swiping right" thing. I'll give that a go, I usually swipe left to go backwards.

I have the same issue with Surface 2 running 8.1. Swiping to go back one page immediately loads a "preview pic" of the last page, but until the page is really reloaded it doesn't allow to scroll. This can take quite long for slow / complex sites.
I also noticed an additional annoyance: after a few hours/days of use the swipe back function seems not to work anymore (sometimes it still works but doesn't show the panning page, and sometimes it does not work at all anymore). I need to restart Metro IE to make it work again. Did somebody else notice this?

xda VERY slow loading

I've noticed xda takes a long time to open and change pages in my browser (Chrome). It frequently times out and gives me an error message. Sometimes I can push it to finish opening by pressing F5 (reload). Other times I have to close it and open again. This happens FREQUENTLY. I have also noticed several video ads that run automatically in multiple windows. I can pause one of them at a time by clicking on it, but of course, this doesn't help with the slow loading problem.
Is there any way to opt out of these videos (one seems to show women in sportswear making sushi) or just shut them off? I suspect that this is the problem.
Its been happening to me too, I just came to this thread to report this. I have an adblock so not sure about the ad but Its talking way longer time to load and sometimes i get error that unable to reach website.
I am using safari on mac.
Thanks

Mate, consider the fact XDA is currently frequented from thousands and thousands people. This could mean - in some cases - their servers could be sometimes overloaded, producing the annoyances you experienced.
This was caused by a bad DNS server - it is all fixed up now so your speed should be fine. Closing this thread, for any issues in the future please visit the XDA issues thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987254

Timeouts while posting?

Anyone else having problems when attempting to post to threads?
I'm using Chrome on Win 10 and after I submit my post I'll get the "waiting for xda-developers.com" on the bottom left of Chrome and after a minute or two the page will timeout.
This isn't every time...but it is about 25%-50% of the time.
I've had this problem as long as I can remember, as in years. Browser will seem to get "stuck" but the post will still show up as intended. As you said, not every time, but pretty frequently. Are your posts still showing up?
