Hi. I am looking for some high Quality headphones for the desire with functions.
Preferably the pod type earphones which can do fast forward, rewind, pause, play, and most importantly change / adjust the volume on the same control although I am not sure that is possible or not. It's very annoying to have to get my phone out of my pocket just to adjust the volume, thus the search for an all-in-one headphone solution. Thanks
Sennheiser make an adaptor that does all this and plug in any headphones u want to.
AKG K370 and 390 have microphone and one button for answering, play/pause and skip when you double tap but no volume.
I advise you to buy an official HTC remote to plug between your phone and any jack 3 pin headset.
where can you get the HTC remote? i have nuforce ie7s with one button.. be nice to forward/back though

HTC only provide this:

but it doesn't include volume
On the opposite there are lots of volume controller but without any thing else.
use a bluetooth stereo headset?
I personally use the jabra street (bt3030), the jabra clipper also looks pretty good.

That's a way, Sennheiser MM450, some jabra, nokia, have remote bluetooth control profile, but that's quite expensive.

Well if you are serious about listening to high quality music.
Either way, the clipper and bt3030 cost about 40 euro's. Which frankly isnt that expensive considering a high quality headphone set costs about 40-60 euro
anyone use a bluetooth set that would be suitable for gym?
Does the Sennheiser MM 450 have a volume button ?
http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheise...ivate_headsets_mobile_music_502891?Open&row=2
It's not clear to me what the jabra clipper actually does.
I understand that both the headphones and the jabra clipper are bluetooth compatible along with the HTC Desire. But are you sure that it all works together ????

The flash MM450 animation shows you all the possibilities of the headset:
http://www.sennheiser.com/flash/animated-manuals/mm450/start_us.html
Remember that using head's control is not easy in some case like in crowded common transport, moreover you must be familiar with the control as you can't see them.
About Sennheiser, the founder Fritz Sennheiser died on Monday at 98 yo.
I wanted to buy that one, then I changed my mind for ear-plugs for mobility convenience, I will get my AKG K370 from amazon this morning.
One last thing, nokia has a good bluetooth headset (BH-905), but it has an awfull design, giving you a hamster face like when you get back from dentist.

Ok i am learning a lot from you all, thank you for posting. This is an exciting topic with many possibility's.
As I understand it, the BlueTooth audio transmitter is built into the HTC Desire, so you don't need to buy an external BT Transmitter like a B-Speech TX2.
Is that correct ?
But if you had a PC and a pair of BT Headphones, then a BT Transmitter would be quite handy, as you could listen to whatever was aired and playing on the PC through WinAmp/whatever app.

Any PC with Bluetooth 2 supports AD2P as long as you have a compatible software.
It acts like a virtual sound card, you don't need anything else than Bluetooth 2.0 with AD2P.
There are no quality problem as the bandwidth of AD2P is 764 kb/sec, but AD2P brings audio delays.
For more info on AD2P read this: http://www.electronicsweekly.com/Articles/2008/09/15/44505/bluetooth-gets-audio-quality-overhaul.htm
I forgot to ask, do any high quality earbuds exist with a cable that have an in-built volume control, pause, rewind and fast forward.
Or to reword it, could you possibly make a recommendation ?
I have to highly recomend the etymotic HF2s.
I had the er6i earbuds prior to these.
Noise isolation is one of the best available and audio reproduction is accurate. None of this uber bass or trebble. They are designed to make music sound (on the most part) as it was intended to.
http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/hf2.aspx
Minimal controls but they have a microphone.
The HF2s receive excellent reviews (thanks for the link and info) but pls correct me if i'm wrong, i can't find reference to an external volume control built within the headphones.
Are the Klipsch X10i's the best that money can buy ? Does anyone actually use these with the HTC Desire and does all the functionality work as expected ? i.e. volume up/down, pause, fast forward, microphone, call answer button.
http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/01/klipsch-image-x10i-iphone-friendly-earbud-impressions/
There's also the Klipsch S4i's.
I think that both come with a remote volume controller built in.

I read (somewhere, yes on the interwebs), that the integrated controls don't work on the desire. it made me go for the s4. and they are great. even to an EQ would be grand on this device. klipsch happens to have built those headphones way too good. i'm hearing things in songs, that I never knew they were there. quite brilliant, if you ask me, but sometimes the headphones find pieces in the higher spectrum of the music, that it can hurt a bit, if you're having it way too load (e.g. a bassy song you pumped to followed up with some high-key piano songs).
I wanted the Desire to have AVRCP Profile 1.3 which allows the disaply of song text on a BT device, but it hasnt got it. Therefore have to put up with basic A2DP controls.
I have the Sony Ericsson MW600 coupled with the Denon Ah-C551 and it sounds great.
OK the setup is £80 but it means i have excellent highs and lows and the cable is small enough to house the BT module in my shirt pocket.
Great combo if anyone has the budget.

Hi,
I really hate having to detangle my earphones everytime I want to listen to something on my Exec.
I was hoping anyone of you would know whether there are any bluetooth stereo earphones/earbuds (not headphones) that will work with the Exec for music?
I dont want the type where I have to plug in some sort of transmitter... I was hoping to use the built in bluetooth.
Any ideas?
Thanks,

Not sure if any exists becuase:
1. Where to put the transmitter?
2. Where to put the battery (if earbuds without wires, both should have batteries built in. this might be a problem)
Yes, bluetooth stereo headphones exist (the Motorola HT820, for instance). No they don't (currently) work with the JasJar.
We need to wait for a ROM upgrade which adds A2DP functionality. This is something that MicroSoft have nade available to the OEM's (i-mate, Q-Tek, O2, etc) but they're dragging their heels when it comes to actually releasing the upgraded ROMs.
Indeed, if i-mate support are to be believed, their imminent ROM upgrade will not include A2DP functionality, which probably means waiting another three months for the next round of ROMs....
Of course, I'm not at all annoyed that I have a useless pair of Bluetooth headphones.....especially considering the fact that other i-mate phones have A2DP already.......
HOT FROM THE PRESS!!!
Just read the press article from Sony Ericsson
And another one...
I have a set from HP that work OK with my ipaq and hacked blueangel rom. You need A2DP support on your device to be able to use them.
I got mine in New York from Compusa last May, Expansys sell them in the UK for about £60, as well as other models.

Actually Guys,
Back to the topic, the guy who started this post is looking for stereo bluetooth EARPHONES. not headphones like the HT820.
And also WITHOUT wires.... so he doesn't have to "detangle" them everytime.
Tall order. Anyone know of a WIRELESS EARPHONE/EARBUD STEREO bluetooth headst? I think that's what he was looking for.
well said!

ong with taiwanese 'tribute' versions ( it's not a copy, it's a tribute to the original....) - you get a dangly reciever bit to wear around your neck and earbuds into your ears.

The second point was NO WIRES so no "detangling" . Sony Erricson are also releasing a similar bluetooth thing, but both of them HAVE wires.
Close, 1 for 2.
Any 2 for 2 devices?
Smallest ones i know of are the iPhone Mini

They have 1 wire connecting the 2 together.

I had the same problem - My Sony EX71 earbuds were fantastic quality, but detangling was a pain in the ass. While I'd prefer earbuds too, and looked at those above first, I went for a pair of HT820's and don't regret it for a second. They're not earbuds of course, but are pretty goddamn stylish to use and the quality is lovely. They also use AVRCP for remote contol and have a mic so I can replace my bluetooth headset too.
EDIT: OK, so I'm a little like Princess Liea, but I'm secure enough in my sexuality to not care.
Hi,
I just bought this one: http://www.pdashop.nl/product/23366. Works fine with my MDA Pro. I use it in combination with PocketMusic Bundle. You can also skip tracks, pause/play music. The only thing is that it won't show the track title/artist. In the manual it says it reads the id tags, but not in my case. (Maybe it's an issue of PocketMusic).
It's also nice that it comes with a cord to hang it around your neck.

I just returned mine. I can't seem to get it working without any problems. The quality of the sound just doesn't compare the sound of the standard headset.

I recently bought this bluetooth headphone for my Dopod 900. I think it is great, especially that you can use it on other non bluetooth device, such as your TV. Check this good product out.
I'm a new convert to Android from the iPhone, and for the most part I'm happy with the HTC Desire. There's just one thing I'm having trouble adjusting to, and that's moving away from the iPhone's default earphones for listening to music. My main hangup is the lack of in-line volume controls.
To get to the point - I'm looking for some good earphones that include:
- A mic
- Prev/next track controls
- Volume controls
What are my options? (If any)
Next and previous track not always supported but you get everything else on sennheiser ip50 ear buds. Sound great, loads on ebay for around a tenner, I paid about 50 quid for mine...

Earphones which work with Desire
I have been trying to solve the same problem, as yet with no real success. I tried the Sienhessers but they din't do everything you and I want.
Two suggestions; do your old Apple phones not work with the Desire? Most of the iPhone compatible phones I have tried do (I don't have an Apple set to try). The best solution I have found so far is adding these - http://www.complyfoam.com/Product/Whoomp!-Earbud-Enhancers - to the HTC stock phones. The sound quality is not that great but they are comfortable and the inline control has ALL the functions.
If you're really bothered, cut the buds off some decent ear buds and solder to the original htc set....

Would be good to have a lead that plugs into the phone with the controls on and then normal headphones plug into that.

Hi I am using sennheiser MM400 for my desire, the best headphones i have ever owned, once you go wireless you'll never go back, bit expensive however but worth it. also has a mike so you can take call in between songs. Just so you are aware back and forward skip sound and play pause works for the first media player you open and that one only. If you want to use it on another media player you'll need to shut all media players down and then open the music app you'd like to use.
It's rechargeable and has a wire if you run out of battery.

Indeed. Must be the nicest headset €50 can buy.
Etymotic HF2s here. They've got one button which plays / pauses music and answers the phone. Not quite perfect functionality, but good enough for me. Also has the microphone on it, and the quality is pretty good.
Of course, the headphones themselves are wonderful. I love my etys, but they are an acquired taste. If you don't like in-ear 'phones that go in so deep that they meet in the middle, these might not be for you

I am using my good old Jabra bt620 stereo BT headset and its working perfectly.
best headset i ever had
I use iPhone 3GS headphones. Volume control isn't really an issue for me seeing as i listen to music on full anyway and the pause button still works so its all fine.

i wanna share and ask about music control in x8 earphone (headphone/handsfree)
i usually driving motorcycle with listening music, no problem for me because im not set volume to louder soo i still can hear other sound like horn, etc.
x8 audio jack are different (3,5mm with little square hole for music control).

earphone MH-810 maybe answers for it, expensive.. how to know it original or not? because i want order online in non official shop
are there available extended cable match to x8 audio jack? (with music control ofcource)

I got the exact same ones from ebay and they cost me £8.94 I think, the cable is long enough that it does not need extending. I can confirm that they are an original Sony Ericsson headset as it comes with the little Sony Ericsson label on the cable and has the green and silver SE logo on the back of the earbuds.

Hi guys, I just bought an X8 in Italy.
What type of earphones did you find in the original box? I can't believe the low quality of mine, not just the sound quality, but I mean the don't have any buttons!!! No volume +/-, no play/pause, but -unbeliavable- they don't have the buttons to answer or reject a call!
Do you have the same type?
Yes, unfortunately x8 comes with sh... est earphones ever!
That's crazy, neither a button to answer a call!!! Sh**t!
I thought that too. My previous SE phones have had vol control + call answer button headphones included.
I'm going to order a set of 810's ASAP as I use my phones when cycling...
Yes, those are headphones that come with XPERIA X8. You can buy MH810 headset online. It it specially designed for X8 and it has controls.

what's the price of mh810 ?
Does somebody know where can I get a pair of MH-810's for my X8 in Romania?
Or, a question for those whom bought them from eBay: How long did it take to receive them?
LE: How about the SE MH610 headphones? Are they good?
Stupid question concerning the MH810: How do you answer a call? I have received a call with the earphones only once, and I didn't know how to answer other than with the phone.
There is no dedicated button! (or maybe I have fake MH810??? still, they have the label near the plug and the green SE logo)
I am a happy owner of this phone
I also bought these headphones MH810 on ebay
but once they arrived and I have connected ...
I read on the display: ACCESSORY NOT RECOGNIZED
no sound in the headphones will work the function keys on the wire.
I ask you if there is a solution to this problem

In my country (and maybe in lots of other countries) you can't use headphones while driving, even if they came with the phone and have a microphone. If your phone doesn't have BT and you want to use wired hands-free, it has to be a mono set (for only one ear). One can even think that using stereo earphones connected to the phone but only puting one bud in one ear is ok, it's not.. Sucky rules, right?

Why in the world would you use apple earphones? The sound quality is horrible.. Atleast it used to be.
Volume Up/Down is specific to Apple's design. I have a pair of Sony's that were "designed for apple" with Volume +/-. Don't work either.

I've used Westone 4s with my GNex, ph33r!
from my understanding apple headphones uses a completely different standard. if u use any other normal headphones with mic, those control would work.
I DIY'ed myself a pair of old sony headphones onto a mic from an HTC headset that came with my Desire HD and got those controls to work just fine.
I use a pair of Skull Candy Heavy Metal 2011s and the vol up/down controls do not work. the center button does work exactly as you describe.
to me it's no big deal.
Which ones are compatible?
I am also looking for headphones and trying to find ones with volume control that are compatible with Android. I called Skullcandy and they cannot guarantee the headphones are compatible.
Apple headphones are garbage. If you want a mic and volume control, use these:

Alternatively, you could use a Bluetooth remote thing like the Jabra Street2 with whatever headphones you have that aren't garbage like the Apple ones:
Sorry if I sound like a douchbag, but the Apple stock earbuds really are garbage. Do yourself a favor and get some quality headphones. I prefer in-ear monitors. I had the Klipsch S4 and they are quite good, if big on base. I'm using Etymotic mc5 and they're fantastic. Both are great headphones for under $100.
Download JAYS Headset app in the market. It will make almost any headset work.
i used to...

Mate I used to think like until I lost my HTC sense earphones and searched for something as good as them which is not in ear. All beats were in ear, I.e the rubberized tip which gets deep into the ear and there are too many fakes out there. Sennheiser, and Phillips were very expensive for the earphones I wanted. At that time the apple ones were ****ty and I hated apple things, I still do. Then the apple earpods came, they gave sound quality very similar to the HTC I had and $30 was kinda reasonable for them. Unfortunately I hate that my friends get to see me using it, as they know I hate apple things but there no options which are as good for this price and the sound quality is very good to my ears.
Somewhat I agree with you that it is a sin using apple products on the nexus, punishable by death, too harsh, maybe have hands cut off ()_()
Sorry this is completely off topic xD
I've never had a problem with Apple headphones. Although it is kinda strange using Apple products with an Android powered device. I think most headphones will work if they are compatible with another Samsung device, or almost any Android device.
You could also use some sort of headset controlling app to use another button for volume and set it so that say, a triple press lowers volume.
I liked HeadsetButton Controller
From what I remember. Single Tap, then hold = Volume Up. Double Tap, then hold = Volume Down. I can confirm tomorrow once I'm at work.

If you are interested in going bluetooth:
Sony DR-BT50 are over the ear style. good sound and battery lasts several hours (4-6 if I had to guess) between charges. At home I have Meelectronics AF32. Those are on the ear style. Again great sound and battery life. They don't stay on my head as well when I headbang.:silly:
AF32 are about half the price of the Sony
Share with us which headphones you are using, or love to use with your Xperia M and it's speciality with the genre you listen most too
Anything you want to add like-

For me I am currently using the stock one. I know it's a waste.
And sometimes I switch to my Philips SHP2700, of course when in private.
And tomorrow I will receive my SoundMagic ES 18 ordered from Naaptol,
App-> Sony walkman it's cool.
->FAV BAND- Green Day, and yes my SHP 2700 justifies it.
->Genre... Rock and often switch to Pop for a change of taste
What about you?
Using the stock headsets bro, yes it's just a waste.. Thinking about buying one, what do unit suggest?

I might be the only one in the world who has bought these, if the web is any indicator.
USD140.00 for a set of Bluetooth headphones with no track record is on a par with buying a race horse called Bruce from a guy in a pub.
The sound quality is pretty good when paired to the XPERIA LT26i and or XPERIA M, although I don't have any 'known' quality Bluetooth headphones to compare it with.
Maybe a trip down to the local Audio shop to 'tire kick' a pair of Sony MDR-1RBT Bluetooth headphones to find out how my G18 stack up.
G18 pairs with all my Android devices without any problems. Even pairs with my Android v2.2 TV box.
Paired easily with a Sony Ericsson K610i (circa 2006) and audio sounded good.
The headphones can be paired with two devices at any given time.
There is no audio 'buzz' or breakup when testing audio frequencies from deep bass to high treble.
Seems to be good spacial audio definition too, but'll need to get a few audio tracks to discover how good that is.
The headphones use Bluetooth 4.0, but I'm not sure what that gives us beyond Bluetooth 3.0 + HS
Seem to be good for up to 8 metres with a few walls using XPERIA M.
The headphones have mics(x2) in both ear pieces and a tap on the big button on the right answers any calls.
Music fades out to take the call and continues when call is completed.
Was playing .flac encoded music when call was taken and the person on a land-phone sounded like they were talking to me through a bake bean can.
But that could be going from stereo .flac encoded audio to mono phone call quality. The other person said they could hear me clearly.
Pairing with Win7(32bit, 64bit) is another story... it's a real struggle, but it does pair.
Using 3.5mm audio connection seems to ramp things up a notch, with greater driving bass and maybe richer sound, but that may be to do with the software drivers on the originating device (PC/Audio Receiver), so that's something to investigate over time.
You will find yourself moving the headphones around a bit after an hour or two as the ears become a bit sore over time.
In short, big headphones and a good sound with an XPERIA M.
Also use a pair of Suicen AX647 bluetooth v2.1 head phones which are cheap ($25.00), but provide a good sound (lacks a bit of bass) but you can use them for hours with no ear strain and I got good signal at the other end of the house 15 metres away (approx two walls)
Sennheiser PX 100-II with over empathised bass.
Sennheiser ear-buds from my old iRiver MP3 player circa 2005.
^ +1 to looks
Don't know about the sound, but with the bucks you spent, it must be supercool Curious though!!! :cyclops:
Well, as said earlier, got my Soundmagic ES18.
The seller ***** me. I ordered the one in green-black, he sent the red-black one.
Just going to leave some negative feedback. Cannot stand the delay of replacement.
Little disappointed, had high expectations with the product. May be it will improve after burn-in, it's just been an hour and it is improving. But don't get the wrong idea. It's totally awesome, but I was expecting it to be awesomer(if there is such a word)
But again,it's way cheaper to demand much. So price wise it is bang for buck.
Love the bass though.
At least it does not hurt my ears like the stock ones. So from me, it's a thumbs up.:good:
Using earpods

Using SoundMagic ES20, with Walkman and Viper4Android Sound enhancement .
Sennheiser mx170 - sound is pretty cool with stock walkman but I wouldn't recommend them. Durability isn't the best and there are some noises but bass is nice. Most of time I'm listening rock and punk rock.
Scullcandy awesome headphone, but they can be used only for 3 months.:|

Hello
Can someone hear any interference, hiss or background noise with good earphones? Does the audio level (loudness) is good?
I'm using Nokia's Coloud Boom and they are absolutely perfect. Really comfy and great bass + clear sound/audio. Stock Android 4.1.2, no mods, stock Walkman with Clear Audio + and Clear Phase enabled.
