Is there anyway to mark any unread texts as read w/o manually selecting each one? Somehow I recieved a text yet it's not showing up on my screen. I'm stuck having that little bubble with a 1 but I see no unread messages. Is there anyway to make this annoyance go away w/o deleting all my texts? Sorry if this is placed in the wrong section.
the attached file should work. Extract the file, copy the file to your phone and then run it.

There is a cab file for "safe inbox extender" that adds the option to "Mark All Read". Do a search.
EDIT: Oops, read the darn OP! The former cab is the one you want...

Thanks! I'll be sure try this.
will that work for emails as well?
I am sooo tired of having to open each email and close it.
Okay, after a soft reset, it worked! It had a lil delay but it worked. Thanks again.

I was enjoying my new Touch Pro 2 from T-Mobile for over a month now and suddenly I noticed that Touch Flo 3D said I had a "new text message". I usually just check "all messages" so that I can see all text message "discussions" instead of one at a time or "read only" mode when you tap a contact and slide over to "sms". So this time I checked "all messages" and none of my messages were "unread". I even went through every conversation to make sure nothing was missing, not even an mms message.
I even turned off Touch Flo 3D thinking that was causing the issue, no dice. Everytime I go into the SMS app for Windows Mobile and look at the folder tree, I see "inbox (1)". So I downloaded a cab file from xda that allows "mark all as read" in the sms app. After installing/softresetting and choosing "mark all as read" from within the WinMo SMS app, this issue did not go away both in Touch Flo 3D and in the WinMo SMS app.
Finally I came across a link of someone having an issue with their HTC Hermes (Kaiser?). They made a program called "FixUnreadCount". This app shows that it is checking all mailboxes (including sms/mms) on the WinMo message app and determines which messages are actually "read" or not.
Once I got to the "sms" portion of the scan, it found that all messages had been read, but the notification was set to "1". It fixed this and moved on to check my other messages on the phone.
After the scan finished, I noticed that TF3D still thought I had an unread message so I softreset my Touch Pro 2 and that was it. Touch Flo 3D had synchronized with the WinMo messaging app and determined that there were no "unread" messages.
I felt I would post this up here since I know there are a lot of Touch Pro 2 owners out there and none of the other fixes worked for me. I also hope that this can be found easily in a search because finding the fix in the hermes forum was almost dumb luck.
I posted a link to the thread that has the file available for download. It's a zip file. I just downloaded the file via Opera directly onto my storage card, then extracted the file and ran the file after extracting. You may get a warning that says "unknown publisher" just tap allow and it should run just fine.

Thank you, I've hard reset twice already because of this annoyance.
Thank you. Ran it once and after a soft-reset, all was fixed.
This fix worked for me to.
Much appreciated!
Thank you for the post!
Glad I could help. I know this was an issue that wasn't covered too well when I first learned about it. Making it easy for others.
Just use SafeInboxExtender
Once installed, go to your inbox (windows default, not TF3D), click menu, scroll down and click 'mark all as read'
That should do the trick, and its easy too.
i have been having this issue with my phone for months thanks so much for posting this, yur a life saver... really!!!!!!!!
Thanks for this soo much. I was about to flash my phone again cause I had this problem the first month I got my TP2 and looked online a lil' and could not find an answer... dat is why I luv this forum
I had this same issue and stupidly started a new thread without a thorough search (sorry).
Any ideas why it happened in the first place?
Well, I installed the SafeInboxExtender and clicked on Mark All As Read and the phone still says that I have one unread message. It didn't work for me. Any other ideas, guys?

So did you try FixUnreadCount followed by a soft reset, as in the first post?
Can someone please help me! I have downloaded this zip many times and it works for a few days then the phantom message appears again somedays totaling to like 5 new text so it says. Is there anything I can do to keep them away for good? I love my phone but this is driving me crazy!!!

Thank you! Awesome fix. I've had this problem with several WinMo phones from time to time, usually after receiving several automated texts, and always had to hard reset the phone to fix the problem, which in this case, with the Tilt2, would have been a major hassle getting it just the way I like it again.
I changed my settings to the default UI and then ran the exe file, then switched back to TouchFlo 3D, but the count was still wrong, so I performed the soft reboot like you suggested and again, it was still there, so I just ran the zip file again and it was gone with out another reboot.
Thanks again.
=)
works great thx a bunch
how to extract the file

thank god it freakin worked! ive had to deal with this for months now!
the first time i ran it, it said it had taken out the message on the scan so i exited the scan and did a soft reset, and it didnt work. so then i ran the scan again and this time did the reset before exiting the scan, and that worked like a charm. so if your havin issues with it try that. thank you again so much for that, im glad someone finally figured this issue out

go to tools, then file explorer and find the file, select it then press the menu button, one of your selections should say "extract" (select it), then youll get a screen askin where you want to save it, just to make it easier on yourself save it to your storage card, once this is done go through your program files again and you should see 2 files with "fixunreadcount" (one is the folder logo which you just extracted from, the other is a little window logo thing which is the actual file), select the file with the window thing and it will then run the scan, after that press the reset button on the side of your phone. if it doesnt work the first time (it didnt for me), run the scan again and reset again and it should work
I can't figure this out. I have gone as far as deleting all my text messages, but my inbox is still showing (1)? Does anyone know how to clear this I have tried to clear "messages"?
I am running stock ROM on ATT Tilt2.
there's a cab on the forum for it
run this exe on your phone and all will be well

Thanks, that worked... but I had to reboot after to remove count from TF3D. All is well. Learned in my search that it comes from a split message being read without going out of threaded message. hmmm I did get a split message. Wish I hadn't erased all my text messages though.
yeah, the count that shows in TF3D is related to data in the registry, so a soft reboot is always needed to clear it out. I keep that file on my SD card just in case it happens again. But it has only happened to me once on this phone and once on my hermes.
w00t post 100 Senior Member. Not bad seeing as I have been here since Oct, 2005 when I got my Blue Angel LOL
After messaging last night I realized I had one text in my inbox in both the touchflo icon, and in the normal windows message centert (next to inbox on the drop down it says 1). I thought I just missed one in my long thread but it was not the case.
I deleted all messages from my inbox, outbox and cleared deleted messages. No luck. I tried using the "clear all text and multimedia" selection with no luck. Numerous soft resets, and even switching my theme to see if it would vanish. I have been texting all day, and deleting and no luck with the phantom inbox. Any help would be appriciated to rid of this problem. Thanks!

This issue has been discussed in length here in other threads. Use the search function in the top right of the page to look for "SMS unread count fix"
Unzip this and put it on your storage card and then run the exe. It will fix your problem.
Thanks It worked perfectly. And sorry for the repetitiveness never found a solution searching, only numerous folks with the same problem.
Thanks again to you both!
This worked great!! Thanks!!!!
wow, it works on my x1
worked for me as well, although the problem came back... again... i managed to fix it permanentally by switching the phone from threaded to classic text view, deleting ALL text messages, then running the program. issue resolved.. it seems to have occurred because of the 2016 date stamp issue, one text was unaccounted for and coincidentally had the 2016 year stamp on it.
Hope this helps future readers - Mark
Hey guys,
I've run this thing about 10 times, and it's simply not removing that 1 from my homepage. The inbox doesn't show it but the HTC homepage does.
Any ideas?

It happens when you somehow texted yourself.. or so the theory goes... if that's not working I would suggest a hard reset..
I also suggest this thread be locked as this is the 100th or more thread about this topic
Edit.... also did you try soft reseting your phone after you ran the program?
I did try soft resetting. I used the reset button on the side of the phone. I don't understand it. I've never texted myself as you mentioned. So, I don't understand. And hard resetting is simply not an option. I have too much set on this phone now to go and update everything.
I'm using DeepShining's ROM from around February.
Hey, thanks !
It worked GREAT on my HTC Touch Pro !!!
Thank you again...
My phone shows I have 1 unread message. It shows both on the sense ui sms button, then on the 'Inbox' under the folder select.
Problem is I cant find any unread messages. Nothing is highlighted in the usual way, and I just can't get rid of the notification.
I've tried everything from turning the phone off, to opening every message grouping in my inbox..
Any ideas?
Did you check your deleted items?

Thanks for the info.
That's kinda lame.. Oh well, I was looking to upgrade to a new rom anyway...
This is not uncurable. Search google or xda or modaco for a tool named fixunreadcount.exe, launch and you'll be fixed. send pm if you don't find it.

I have this problem since I installed new HTC message version..
Never had before..

Yes, there are plenty of threads on this issue and 'fixunreadcount' worked for me when it happened (just the once so far). I have attached but can't remember where I found it so sorry can't give credit where it's due.
couldn't it also be due to the SMS soring problem that HTC has a fix for on thier website? I know that drove me nutz for a while until i found there was a fix for it.
I already asked this question and got an answer, but I have another question. I got this answer:
It's tedious and I agree there should be a select all function but there isn't. Best way is to do it on pc side.
How do I do this? I have looked through all folders on SD card while connected to PC thru USB but can't
find where email folders or recycle bin is, and haven't found on google where desire hd stores its emails.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! I miss being able to press one button to get rid of all my deleted
emails!
BTW, tried to add this question to previous thread but the forum wouldn't allow it, saying there weren't
enough words in the post or something...

If you go into email setting their an option to permanently delete emails from server when you delete from inbox. Try that out if you didnt already.

Thanks, but that's not what I'm after... I want to find out how to
empty the email recycle bin on my phone from my PC, without
having to go down the whole list of emails ticking every box...
I want to leave emails on the server...
