too many server directs - Desire General

Hi,
I am having a problem when I try and access my Sky.com email account from my Desire. I get to the Sky.com page, click on my email, sign in and then get "Data connectivity problem" and "the page contains too many server redirects" and then a "web page not available" screen.
I have plenty of memory available on both the phone and the SD card. I have cleared cache, history and cookies etc.
I have removed all reference to sky on the phone, googled it, and tried again. Same result.
I have no problem accessing my account on my pc and I used to be able to get onto the account using the phone. It makes no difference whether I am connecting via wifi or the mobile network.
Any ideas what this means and any ideas how to solve.
Thank you.

The browser is having a problem with the way the website redirects it to the correct page. Possibly try a different browser - Dolphin, perhaps?

Thanks for that.
Have just down loaded Dolphin (nice browser) but no joy, I get exactly the same messages.
It isn't a problem accessing the account however because I can, via my pc, organise the Sky emails to be sent to my hotmail account which I can access via the phone.
However, as I used to be able to access my Sky emails from the phone but now cannot, I want/need to sort it out!!
Any further ideas?

I don't have a Sky account so can't check to see exactly what's going on here. You say "I used to be able to access my Sky emails from the phone" - do you mean on your HTC Desire? And it's just stopped working properly? That being the case, I suspect you're going to have to wait for Sky to come up with a fix. NTL/Virgin users have experienced a similar problem: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=40027958

Thanks again.
I used to be able to access my e-mails directly from the Sky account on the Desire. I went abroad on holiday recently and couldn't access them (ie get into my Sky account after signing in) on the Desire, I presumed because I was out of the UK and something needed to be changed in my Sky email account settings.
However, since returning, the position remains the same. Google provide the email service for Sky.
PS And on that subject, I am also getting a security warning telling me there are problems with the security certificate in that the name of the site does not match the name on the certificate ie Sky is the site; Google is on the certificate!!

Did anyone get through this? I am getting the same damn problem.
Someone pls help.

Try operamini, that's what I allways use when websites play up.

Apps won't download

After successfully downloading a number of apps, I have found that I have a huge queue of apps which are listed as "starting downloading." Some of them date back more than a week. My phone is right on top of wifi hotspot, so I don't think the problem can be the connection.
Might I have inadvertently touched something or changed a setting that prevents the Desire from downloading?
Many thanks,
Joe
apps won't download
or is it possible I've filled all the app space?
Ive just cured my problem and it might be the same cause. have you recently changed your @googlemail to an @gmail account? if so this stops google talk from signing in and therefore stopping any downloads, i changed my email back to @googlemail and google talk signed in and voila i can download apps again.
That is the problem! I hadn't changed the account on my Desire, but I had done it on my Googlemail account. When I changed it back, the desire started downloading again.
Does this mean I have to change both the Desire and ordinary Gmail accouts at the same time?
Can someone who has changed the desire from googlemail to gmail answer?
Many thanks!
Joe
Hey, glad it worked out. As far as i know the only way to use @gmail is to factory reset the phone, somehting im not prepared to do, afterall ive been telling people to use @gmail for years an i'v allways got my mail so im gonna stick with @googlemail and keep telling people its @gmail
I am having the same issue,
... and just found at, that the market appl wont start downloading while I am on wifi. When I switch to mobile network, the downloads are started within a minute. Give a try, and please provide a feedback here whether this helps.

too many server redirects part 2

I still have this problem (part 1 currently on page 6 of this forum); the above message coming after I sign in to my Sky.com email account. So I cannot access my account.
I have been reading stuff on the internet about this problem and it is not uncommon and apparently this can be cookie related.
So my question is, is there any way I can see which cookies remain on my Desire? I am not talking about session cookies but the ones that still remain even after deleting those. It seems possible that the cookie deposited by Sky is corrupting my ability to access that site.
So it is worth a go but where do I find it? A virtual bottle of pop to anyone who can help.
Thank you.

Exchange not working (since 2.2 flash but possibly not related)

Hi All,
Thought maybe someone here would have an idea, we run a exchange 2003 environment and since upgrading my phone to 2.2 (custom rom) I'm unable to sync with exchange.
It gets past the first screen asking for server details etc to the one that asks what data to synchronise with (mail, contacts, calendar) but upon clicking finish setup it loads processing and then says "Failed to create the account. Please try again later."
I am an administrator of our exchange environment so can check settings there but basically it worked under 2.1. We do enforce pin and it has done that already so there is some communication going on.
We do not self sign our own certificates for this it is signed by Equifax Secure Inc.
Also I have a feeling it might be related to content and be failing due to large amounts of emails - when syncing on 2.1 I had to choose the smallest amount of days to sync back to get it going - being a systems engineer I receive around 50+ emails a day and don't delete stuff.
If anyone has any ideas on anything I could look at doing on the phone or server side (considering exporting everything out and syncing then importing in but don't want to have to) it would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance. Also thanks to the community for awesome threads on how to flash phone / create goldcard, confused me muchly with many hurdles but got there in the end so very much appreciated to those who participate in that area.
Shameless bump, anyone? I've wasted a large amount of time searching and trying to figure this one out.

Im trying to do the same with my hotmail account, everything passes until last screen than i get "Failed to create the account. Please try again later."
Using NeoPhyTe 1.6
I've been having this problem "FAILED TO CREATE ACCOUNT TRY AGAIN LATER" so long until today, many ppl have had this issue. They mentioned about the pin security and all of that. I didn't think that was true.
This had to do with the permissions set for the user in AD, I went in and (tick or check the) allow authentication, read, read and write phone. Follow from instructions here: (done in 2010 exchange)
security.crudtastic.com/?p=249
I know can read my emails from exchange =)

Just thought I'd reply back to this in case anyone else was following this or wanted to know, I found the issue looks like it was related to opendesire (just a flash of it) account synced on another guys desire (2.2 stock). I did a factory reset which didn't fix it but have now flashed LeeDrOiD Mod and it's going strong. Thanks everyone for input .

[Q][SOLVED] Is Facebook down on Andorid/Desire?

Anyone else having problems? Haven't been able to connect for a couple of days now. No posts, notifications, updates etc.
Funny enough when I try to go via web it says ""access restricted bad (IP)" - associated with abusive behaviour. What's this? Any ideas?
Edit:
It appears what has happened is that due to Orange using Proxies to log into facebook the IP addy has been blacklisted. What I am guessing is that as this coincides with the Launch of Facebook places Facebook thinks that the IP is spamming it with multiple places simultaneously and as such blacklisted the IP.

So youve have restricted access for being abusive? Theres your answer. Can you log in on a computer?

Thanks for help.
Not aware I've been abusive! It's the Android/Sense apps that won't connect, and it was via the web on the phone that I got this message. Can't try the web from work as its a blocked site.
Have queried with Facebook and they say they'll get back to me.
I can't get it to work today either, it was last synchronized last night. Today neither friends stream or the Facebook app will connect

If you google this there are loads of people on the Orange UK network with the same problem (me included)
Not sure if/when it'll get fixed.
Forgot to say I am on Orange too. Aha...so that's where the problem lies. They're not having a good time what with the data outage a couple of weeks ago etc etc.

I can't seem to get any content from the touch Facebook page, it let's me sign in but that's all I see. No problem with the mobile page of the Facebook app. Im also able to load the touch page on my laptop and can access everything, so it seems there is something wrong when viewing the touch site on the desire. I'm on tmobile by the way.

[Q] BOT/Malware on EVO?

For the past week or so people in my hotmail contacts list are getting e-mails containing a link, and they are getting them daily. I am not sending out this e-mail and my EVO is usually the only form of a computer I have for e-mail.
When I first realized this was hapinning, I went to the Market and downloaded the free versions of Lookout Mobile Security, and AVG antivirus. Scaned with both of them and they both said my phone is clean, but the e-mails are still sending.
Guess my question is, is there a way for me to find this BOT or whatever it is and get rid of it with out having to restore my phone? Any and all help is greatly appreciated....
Thanks
dizL
I know that phones can aquire viruses and etc but I'm not sure there is anything that can clean them. Try scanning your microsd and if thAt does not work you may want flash a new rom or hard reset
Your email got phished. Change password and see if it continues.
Definitely change your password off top and then get in touch with hotmail, they will have the ip address of who/what has been doing it.
Thanks, Ill prob just flash a new ROM...
It's your email account in general. Chnage the password [make it stronger throwing at least a number in there] and you should be straight.
