LauncherPro Beta - Desire General

Has anyone tried this??
It's in the top free downloads on the market, and I definitely recommend it!
It has the fly in effect when you open/close an app (a la iPhone) which makes everything feel so much more fluid.
Obviously HTC widgets don't work which is a shame, and its a little buggy being a beta, but you should try it!

Just downloaded it to give it a try. I like it.
The only downside is there is no choice of what to put on the bottom bar. I don't use the people or stock messaging app. If I could change them I'd probably use this over helix 2.

Busy trying it out now - it's extremely quick. I think I'll keep using it for a while, see how it goes.

The standard helix is actually better then this one. Especially in speed and customization

agree,
the only thing thats stopping me from using a launcher is no htc widgets and not being able to customize the grid of icons on the desktop so 4v4 only :<

how can you change the grid of icons in HTC Desire to more than 4 icons ???
Also i think that the Sense launcher is by far the smoothest and the best so far. nothing can beat it in speed, fluencity and HTC widgets.

[Q] Stock gingerbread launcher.

Please tell me why people like it? It has 3 non changable icons that stay one color and looks like its out of place compared to the rest of a home screen setup.
Just wondering whats so great about it? Am i missing something?

different strokes for different folks.
It gives more of a stock feeling than ADW. And the trashcan is on the bottom dock, the only reasons I used it, then I moved to ADW for honeybread

I actually think it looks a bit better than adw. It gives more of a clean look.

Because the app drawer is the best app drawer of all of them! Especially with a phone with good graphics!
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
Isn't the same effect app drawer available on adw and lppro?

Well gb launcher2 is just so much smoother then adw or lp. Home screen scrolling is buttery smooth, and the transition for opening the app drawer is much nicer then the other two. The app drawer cube effect shows 5 rows in the fold compared to the others. Now that I can use themes in CM7 without adw, I use it.
And in the stock launcher the apps in the drawer "bounce" much smoother than LP, not as laggy
I believe i read somewhere on here that the stock launcher is hardware accelerated. That is why is runs faster and smoother.
I personally prefer anything stock. Stock apps seem, to me at least, to be smaller and faster. Try to keep the fluff to a minimum.
I love stock anything! My Nexus One made me love the 3D app drawer, and on my G2, its only smoother! I can't wait to see how smooth a stock dual core Android 2.4 phone from Google is gonna be! The G2x is a good example, however it will be froyo, meaning not fully dual core compatible like 2.4 will be! My guess....Nexus X by Motorola! I can wish, can't I??

I just love that stock vanilla google experience...same when ICS, Jellybean drop...ill stick to stock...no overlays or launchers for me...BTW is there a zip I can flash for the gingerbread launcher over adw in CM7..? (There was one for NS)
Edit: I know there's a couple in the market but those aren't as smooth as the ones in NS Development...

thomas_wlc how did you make this launcher work very well on cm7? i flashed it and its just as laggy as adw (switching between homescreens)

Hey,
I really didn't have to do anything but flash it. I flashed this over the ILWT cm7 rom and it just worked right out of the box (on 187b as well as 204).
I wouldn't know how to improve the performance of the launcher, except for common guesses such as reflashing/wiping and such.
Maybe it's just a different understanding of what "working really well" means. I never did get it to work perfectly buttery smooth, a very tiny lag always remained (even though it was running a lot better than adw).

Rose mod for 5 icons at the bottom near app drawer.

Hate to ask, but once again searching for on the xda app is not fun or good while I'm on the road. Is there a mod for rose in myn twopointtwo to make the bar at the bottom with five icons instead of three? I bought adw and love it, but I miss my sense widgets.
Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, there is no way to mod the Sense rosie to have 5 buttons. There are however rosie mods you can do, that remap the 3 buttons, so that the 3 buttons take up the entire width of the homescreen, instead of just a portion of it, as myn's rosie does. Launcher Pro Plus has some decent widgets, that are very similar to sense. Still not quite as polished or nice as the sense widgets, but they are decent, useable, and functional.

I have to give a +1 to LPP, I actually run Warm 2.2 with Launcher Pro.
OP, you don't mention specific Sense widgets, but LPP's Calendar and Friends (similar to FriendStream) as well as the Twitter and Facebook widgets are pretty good.
Well I bought both beautiful widgets and the other one (name is not coming to me right now) and they help, but I just like the feel of sense for some reason.

It'll cost you a few bucks but the best way to do it is launcher pro plus, launcher pro icons and launcher pro glass sense skin all found in the market. You can costomize your dock bar 100% and with the skins now available in the market your widgets will look exactly like sense.

Not Really, just makes it look different (unless I'm missing something).
Thanks for your suggestions everyone. I used to use Launcher Pro, but then I got kinda bored (probably because I didn't upgrade it). I'm going to run the free version until I can purchase the full version.
Have you tried Go Launcher EX? It's free and works great.

[Q] Personalize Button

Is there any way to change this to something more useful? I love Sense after coming from the Fascinate but imho that is a pointless button to have on the dockbar.

Afraid not. :/
Dang haha. That's my only gripe with this *stock* phone. However I did just find LPSense on my old sd card so that will work for now.
If you haven't tried it out you should its pretty sick. Same look as Sense but all the customization of Launcher Pro

Actually, I forgot about these! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=998896
Download the Inc-S skin with browser icon. All of these skins/themes work with our phone. I've verified it.
I have tried these and it seems like the peraonalize buttons icon just changes to a browser icon. It doesn't actaully make it a shortcut to the browser.
Sent from my ADR6350 using XDA Premium App
yea i have one of those skins too same with me. only a browser icon not an actual shortcut
I'll try to find a link to the LPSense download and post it when i get home.

what exactly is launcher pro anyway?
^ If you know what "HTC Sense" means in terms of looks, Launcher Pro is a Launcher program that allows you to fully customize your homescreen. Way apps look, way the app drawer launchers, etc.

[Q] jelly bean roms no more sliding wallpaper?

hi all, i just flashed my phone to ARHD 15.0 and i noticed that when i slide left/right in the home screen, the wallpaper no longer slide, is there a setting for this feature to be enabled? i cant seem to find it
thanks!
Wallpaper scrolling in the latest jellybean update has been disabled. The same must have been done with your rom.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
ohh, i see.. that kinda sucks anyways, may i ask why they disabled the feature? or can you point me to any links about this getting removed? thanks for the reply!
I think its something to do with a Apple patent. Apple are pure patent trolls and i hate them for that.

I guess it was basically because to allow the complete rotation of home screen.
also you can try different launchers.. wallpaper scrolling would work fine. It has been disabled with just rosie
Try apex or nova launchers.
I hate the way they got rid of it. It was something really cool in android, and I don't want to use a different luancher because senses looks nice also the extra ram usage, and its to much hasle to use Rom cleaner.
I'm pretty sure our awesome Devs will be able to add this feature to custom JB Roms.
6 screens
Anybody notice we only have 6 instead of 7 screens? There's a big gap where the seventh screen was supposed to be.

any new developments on this yet?
Viper X has scrolling wallpaper

Using a launcher or no ?

I am typically a big Nova Prime Launcher guy. But trying a launcher on this M8 didn't feel right for some reason. It took away the beauty of the One or something.
I am running a custom ROM with tweaks, as well as Sense 6 Alpha toolbox xposed framework.
But think I'll hold off on a launcher for awhile, and enjoy Sense.
Anyone else ?

I thought the same thing, was a adw ex user on my evo. Probably won't use a launcher until I get sick of sense when cm variations come into the game with stability.

I don't enjoy really anything about sense. Using the Google now launcher.
How do I install the Google Now Launcher ? When I look it up, says my device is not compatible.

So far I'm sticking with the stock Sense, but will likely go back to using Apex at some point.
Does motion gestures still work to unlock screen with Google launcher?

Get it from Android Police...

I completely agree about wanting to use sense...the issues for me are:
-hard to back up and restore the homescreen for sense
-not as many customization and gestures
-doesnt show notifications on custom apps like nova does.
I do think that sense has really upped their game in design
Using apex with a shortcut to blinkfeed. Like it a lot.

Sense is a lot better than some of the other OEM options, but still the first thing I installed when I got my One was Nova Prime. I've just gotten so used to all of the customisations I can (and want to) do with Nova that the experience without it just feels off.
For starters, I lose my swipe/tap gestures on the homescreen which I've now developed muscle memory for.

It's not hard to backup and restore the homescreens for sense. I use titanium backup for that and backup BlinkFeed (homescreens). This will backup your homescreens the way you have them.

I used Nova Prime on my EVO 4G LTE and EVO 3D before that... but am still using Sense 6 on my M8. Although I absolutely love Nova and got really comfortable with all the gestures and other customizations I had set up, I decided I'd run Sense 6 until I get bored of it. Another thing is that I actually like the Sense widgets and was always a bit bummed that I had to download alternatives to use in Nova.
Used the Google experience launcher on note 3 but haven't felt the need with the m8
