I have made s script which installs all files in my Install-Directory of my SD-Card. The script is based on nscriptm and invoked automatically after HardReset.
It installs silently all CAB-Files, Reg-Settings in REG-Files, a TSK-File.
It copys all wanted files automatically from the SD-Card to the PocketPC (e.g. for the Windows-Folder, etc).
It deletes wanted files from the Pocketpc.
It copies Shortcuts.
So a complete new Install lasts only a few minutes. Great for testing.
Now I am searching an unzip/unrar/uncompress/... - Tool which can be invoked from the command-line with additional parameters to uncompress all Install-Files on the SD-Card.
Anyone knows ?
Sounds like an excellent idea. Can you share your script? Sorry I do not know of a zip utility. All installs on cab files are already compressed though.
Doed Pocket WinRar will do the job?
I also would love to try it...
Very good idea
This sounds like a great idea.
No, Winrar is only with GUI. No Commandline. Have searched for days.
CAB-Files are not Compressed I think. Only the EXE-Files containig the CAB-Files for Install on PC are compressed.
Please HELP !
I have made an extended ROM which runs my script now automatically.
If you want it send me PM.
I have also been searching the net for a compresion tool that runs from the command line, but with no luck.

Has anyone heard from axbl? While waiting in vain, I decided to give this a shot and see how far I go along scripting my installs. I find the nscriptm tool to be very capable but still I am stuck in a few areas which axbl seems to have excelled based on the initial post.
How can one trigger a cab file install and make it a silent install? I am using the Shellwait("") command to trigger the cab file installs one after the other but those that require input are causing an issue.
Next I have tried automating the response to those user input prompts (i.e YES / NO etc) but I am having trouble catching the window handle of the prompts and then using the Sendkey command.
Thanks in advance for all the help. Regards
I use the software call Autoconfig.exe which is included in O2 Asia ROM.
The Autoconfig.exe will read Autoconfig.txt file and execute according to the command line in the file.
The command line is exactly the same as Config.txt
[.......] <---- Section to be selected
CPY1: <---- copy from
CPY2: <---- copy to
EXEC: <---- Execute Program
CAB: <---- Install .cab file
RST: Reset <---- Soft Reset
I can do what I need about 80%. I say 80% is because after this process ended. I still need to put in name/pasword to all of those s/w or else it will still be trial version.
no more?
so any update in this topic??

hi, if you create an xml file or a cab (need winCE cab manager) you can add all the registry details you need to register your program...but you have to search your registry to find those details.
Yes, I can do it while ago.
The post I did was a year ago. At that time, I didn't know how to do it.
Thanks anyway.

You don't have to ask that guy. He'd never come back.
It's not that difficult to do. You need to know how to build CAB file by using WinCE CAB Manager. Then, put those REG, TSK, EXE, File, etc. into your built CAB file. By using (Autorun and Config.txt) or (Autoconfig.exe and Autoconfig.txt) or (Autorun and ExtROM via \2577 folder), You can install any CAB files into the system after Hard Reset.
ok
could you pls post the files to do it?
(Autorun and Config.txt) or (Autoconfig.exe and Autoconfig.txt)
if possible?
Hi ppl,
I just bricked my Asus A639 while trying to upgrade
to WM6. Probably my own fault, the SD was FAT32
rather then FAT16 and I noticed too late.
Also, I was stupid enough not to create a backup
of the WM5 first so I'm really stuck here.
I have been reading the forums on this but many topics
are mixed up ; they discuss migrating to another language
mixed up with rescueing the device.
I am not interested in switching language. I have read
that it is possible to force a WM5 image onto the device
but there are two issues ;
1. I don't fully understand how to do it
2. I don't have a WM5 image
So I guess I have two questions ...
1. Can anyone provide me a Dutch Asus A639 WM5 backup
2. Can anyone tell me how to get it onto the device.
Tnx,
c0r3
Got it fixed. Many tnx goes to cmonex !
There was a post some time ago which described how to recover from
a crashed upgrade ....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=308611&highlight=asus+wm6+update&page=19
I started of by downloading the official WM6 update from the Asus
site. I renamed the Update.img to A639_K733.DIO and tried to get it
onto the device. Although it did load, the PDA still wouldn't get past
the Asus welcome screen.
It appears the .img file from the update package contains too much
for this to work.
cmonex said:
find MSFLSH50 signature (search for string in a proper hexeditor!!) in the file, then go back 512 bytes and cut everything until then.
so the remaining file will have the MSFLSH signature at offset 0x200 (i.e. 512).

So I tried but could not find the "MSFLSH50" string in the .img file. Tried
several different hex editors, no luck.

Once I got the correct file from cmonex ;
1. Formatted SD FAT16
2. Rename cmonex's file to A639_K733.DIO
3. Copied file onto the SD
4. Inserted SD into PDA
5. On PDA : press+hold power+enter+reset
6. PDA enters bootloader mode and copies the file into the ROM
7. Press reset on PDA and all boots just fine although it takes a while before
it passes the Asus welcome screen. This is only the first time after the
download however. Reboots after then go as they should normally go.
The hard part in this sequence seems to be to find a decent ROM file.
Once you have a file that contains the MSFLSH50 signature it pretty
straight forward.
as someone sent this link to this thread to me in PM just now I thought I'd clarify some details..

otherwise, to obtain a .DIO, just make a backup of your ROM with pdocread while PDA is still working. if help is needed with that, please post the output of the command "pdocread -l"

can somebody give my a link to .DIO file
Same problem: need Dutch .DIO
Hello there,
I have exactly the same problem as described here. I also tried a rename of the
Update.img to A639_K733.DIO which did load and was written in the ROM but the device still "hangs" at the blue "welcome" screen.
Would it be possible to obtain the "correct" .DIO from one of you guys? That would help me a lot! Thanks already in advance!
My system is originally Dutch and I would like to stick with it, so I would need a Dutch .DIO, but since I have a backup of my old system made with SpriteBackup, I guess (or better hope), also an English .DIO will do.
Again, thanks in Advance,
Andreas

ASUS A639 fix
Israeli users (hebrew support): this image is not the israeli original ROM image supplied by Ronlight! it does not contain Eyron Hebrew support!
Unless you already had a WM6 w/hebrew support img on your A639 flash memory, after flashing this rom img you will need to install a new third party hebrew support software!
==flashing this img can void your warranty==
If anyone still need some help fixing a bricked Asus, just PM me.

Hello cmonex,

I know it's an old post, but I got a bricked a639 that I only can get the bootloader to run. USB doesn't work, only updating with a A639_Kxxx.DIO works.
cmonex mentions in the post that "I uploaded the DIO to rapidshare: http://rapidshare.com/files/182003093/A639_V10733.rar". The A639_V10733.rar file on rapidshare however contains a file called A639_V10733.NB0 and not a *.DIO...
Since I can only update using a A639_Kxxx.DIO on my sd card, does anyone have a *.DIO available? I've been searching the internet for quite a while now, but can't find a DIO for download anywhere...
Greetings Ladies and Gents,
I believe I'm having a problem here of the same sort with an Asus A639. In a few words, I wanted to upgrade WM6 to a newer version (got it from Asus support site) and the installation crashed (the message said "could not read SD card"). After reset my PDA got stuck to the Asus welcome, blue screen
Now, I followed the lead, from previous posts but got real fast, completely lost.
I also tried several files provided but did not work. The last shown on display line reads "Waiting for download !".
I am using the english version for WM6.
Can someone help me out with a complete description for what I need to do?
Thank you
Regards
Forja

I've changed the extension from NB0 to DIO.
After holding power + reset + enter, a gray screen appears for 2 seconds and it's written "FAT 16" ... and that's it!

Join me in the remarks, I have the same problem: "after holding power+enter+reset for 2 seconds fat 16 and then freezed asus blue welcome screen"
What's this exactly? I did something wrong, or the PDA does'nt work properly?
I downloaded the file that Cmonex published on Rapid, but are'nt working.
I tried to upgrade, because it does not load the operating system ... only the blue screen appears at startup.
Any idea what might be the problem?

I think I had the same problem ,
try renaming the file on the SD card to exactly A639_K733.DIO
My goal is to remove all unused applications from the ROM. I use surface kitchen (couldnt find anything else). I put Rom files into the Base ROM folder in the kitchen and used option 1. All finished ok. However when i start !COOK.cmd I cant see any packages (i can see them in the OEM folder) to select. In the readme file I found this:
3. Open !COOK.cmd and Buildos will open.
-Check/Uncheck the packages you want to add in the rom(if there are no things to check, add the option.xml file to each of the oem packs)
However I couldnt find any option.xml file. I checjked Wicki but there is only Kiser kitchen. I would love to use it for Diamond but I'm not sure if I can. So I'm stuck for now. If anyone could help me it will be great.
Here's my kitchen, you may find it easier to use.

Just tried it. It works ok. Just a quick question. How do I remove unwanted packages. Should I just remove them from the casserole folder?
lolek74,
What do you mean by "My goal is to remove all unused applications from the ROM". Is that unused by yourself or do you mean to create a stripped down ROM removing as many apps as possible.
The later is what a few of us have been looking for and it would be great if you could create a ROM like that.
lolek: r u Polish?
^.^
Anyways, after the "concat" part, you will have an OEM folder and a SYS folder in casserole.
Each package (nearly) is prefixed with package_diamond_xxx
Some of them have accompanying language/mui folders
You can delete any pair you don't like.
Be careful while removing SYS packages though, or OEM_prefixed packages.
I'm not but my friend's wife is Polish and theirs children always watch bolek i lolek movie. Hence my nickname. I'll give a shot and report back tomorrow. Thank you.
i have a problem with extracting core files, file not found on the end
xip_e must be in casserole. but i can`t find it
This usually happens if you're trying to extract a "protected" ROM like bepe's, DP, Swift or Dutty's.
ok, i try another rom thank you
i tryed several roms but have the same problem also from htc NLD
how can i get the right rom
I have managed to remove some application. However After 1st boot I get message that Opera cant be find. Also how do I:
remove empty folder (games)
Update to Framework 3.5
update to latest OS.
Help highly apreciated.
I will make short tutorial for anyone who wants to try make their own rom.

the menu on the right is for rebuilding a dumped ROM (*.raw) whereas the left hand side options are for cooking a prebuilt .nbh
I guess you are trying to use the right hand side options for an nbh? This is why you get this error. OR, you didn't place Part01 and Part02.raw in the "source" folder.
I've seen a lot of people asking how folks have changed the Windows logo to the HTC one and so on. I am one of those people!
There's a thread over in the Diamond Forum here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=437307, that discusses altering the taskbar icons.
I've had a read of that but it doesn't appear to discuss the start button. I've currently got a cab installed that gave me coloured icons on the taskbar but also the 3d MS Office style start button. I like the icons but not that start button.
Is there anyway someone could provide an idiot/noob style guide for altering that icon. I'd love to have the Vista start button on my HD (attached image) but have no idea how to go about it aside from I think it has something to with .dll files.
Can anyone explain this? Anyone? I know there would be a lot of people grateful for it! I've Googled and used the search but just cannot seem to find anything!
I've attached a mock-up of my ideal; I've got the coloured icons, just the start button to go!
I think....
the explanation is to edit the shellres.192.dll file here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2791169&postcount=3
using the process here?

This is the thread I used to alter the Windows logo to a HTC logo among other things in this thread. It's dead easy,
1) Unsign the file using Unsigner linked to in the thread further up (on page 2 of the Unsigner thread there's a .bat file that I found gave a better idea of whether it had worked or not).
2) Open the file in Reshacker and go to Icon on the left hand side and click it to expand it. Go to number 292, click it and it will expand to show 1033. Click 1033 and it should be the start menu icon. Right click on 1033 and select Replace Resource. Select Open File With New Icon and find your new (resized) icon. Double click it and it will show a preview of new and old. Click Replace in the bottom right corner.
3) Save the newly modified file.
4) Sign the modified file using Ssigner linked to in the thread above. CHECK THE TEXT FILE IT CREATES TO MAKE SURE IT SIGNED OK. Don't forget this bit as it will mean a hard reset if you do (as I learnt).
5) If you've not installed SDKCert.cab some time in the past. download it from here, copy it to the phone and install it.
6) Copy the file to the Windows directory on the phone using Resco Explorer or Total Commander.
7) Reboot the phone.
how did you copy shellres.192.dll? it says "Acces denied" even with resco. No chance to renaming also
To get the file in the first place you need a program called ROM Extractor on the phone to get the file from ROM. There are also different varients of the ROM for different locales. There's a description in the link above.
thanks for your efforts but seems a little complicated TotalCommander did the trick, resco seems to have some security check problems
anyway, unsigner doesn't work so i'm stuck

Try the .bat file in the second page of the Unsigner thread. Copy Unsigner, the .bat file and the file you want to unlock to the same directory and double click the .bat file. Also, because the file is from ROM make sure it's not marked as Read Only when you get it to your PC before unsigning it. If it's from ROM they're usually Read Only for a start.

Do you have the cab to change the other icons? I had a quick look on the diamond thread but couldn't find the exact ones you have! Thanks.

True, but when I tried Unsigner on it's own it didn't give any feedback as to what it was doing (or if it did I missed it) so I changed 150+ icons only to find it hadn't been unsigned and therefore couldn't be resigned. At least with the batch file I can check it's been properly unsigned before making changes.
Does it give you any error messages when you try Unsigner?

that's the point: no errors from unsigner, but resourcehacker can't open my file (not valid bla bla bla)
In which case I'd say the file hasn't copied across properly from the phone. Reshacker should be able to open the file and allow editing even if it's still signed. I'd try ROM Extractor to copy the file from ROM to elsewhere on the phone and then copy that across to the PC.

uhm seems reasonable
but I don't want to extract all my whole rom for a stupid dll... I extracted with total commander, isn't supposed to work this way?
Nope, certain ROM files can't be copied using normal file copy programs. I've found that they try and copy, then say the "File already exists, do you wish to replace?" and then whatever you select you're left with a 0k file with nothing in it. The ROM extractor doesn't copy the whole ROM. When you launch it you get a list of all the ROM files. Double click the one you want to extract, give it a location (\ usually for the root directory of the phone) and a name and click Extract.
Ok, I will try. But how to replace when modified? If I can't even read it, how will I replace it?
Hi,
I searched around and yet I couldn't find much on ROM dumping
Do you need a different utility for a different device? I'm guessing there is one for Diamond but I couldn't find one yet
Also, what do you need to do before dumping a rom? (is unlocking required etc.)

No unlocking won't change your ROM so unlock away!!
There is a utility that does the dumping for you and here it is..
Er... I don't quite understand how that works....
The instruction says..
Install EnableRapi.cab on the phone.
Run Partition Addresses.bat.
Read Partition.Addresses.bat to find the four addresses.
Edit Dump My Phone to include the four addresses in place of the words.
Run Dump My Phone.
Rar and Send!
-------------------------
Should I do this while the phone is connected by activesync?
Also, once I run Dump My Phone, it gives me an error that says that the device isn't ready.
You can try my dumping kitchen, it's very simple to use!
(sorry, it's german ^^)
Steps on how to dump an unprotected ROM:
- place your RUU_Signed.nbh inside the kitchen
- start "1a. Entpacken.bat" to unpack and dump the NBH file
- start "3. Packages erstellen.bat" to make packages inside the dump-folder
- pick out what you need from the dumped ROM
Good cooking!
you get two ways of "dumping rom".
both ways get an other result.
about your asking for first way, i think you are a beginner.
your problem will not the dumping of roms,
the problem would be getting the dumping-file back to your phone.
i think, you read many or some threads where you think to get easy answers.
but the answers would be allwasy the same "google/search for answer"
its not a good time for hardcore beginners ...
please try to explain with simple words, what you have done and what you want do.
(not only for your brain, take your fingers and make "tik tik tiktik.." on keyboard ...
i asking this to you becaue for cooking and flashing you dont really need the specified answer of dumping roms. some kitchens looks BOAH-NOTHING UNDERSTAND, but at most, you need only copy ruu_signed.nbh to BaseRom and klicki-klicki BEGIN or START. than you get the rom-folders with easy understanding names (at most). for not needed programs delete files or folders. for the games you can delete all entertaionment-folders. for delete welcome.exe you have to delete one folder welcome.exe and the file welcome.exe.
this example is easy and at the same time one of the difficults thing by cooking. delete entertainment makes no problems. but delete welcome ... you have to know, what you do before you do it. without welcome.exe you cant fix your display with display-coordinates. and you have not the correct time. for getting a solution you need to study forums ... the coordinates of display can find in registry - > if you checked the registry before you starts to cook/flash. to get automatic time you need registry again, but its hard to get them.
sorry for big answer ....
