Music App: 97 Albums maximum? - Desire General

Hello,
my Desire can't see more than 97 albums saved on the SD Card.
A part of my music collection I would like to save on the SD Card consists of about 200 albums; these are perfectly tagged MP3 and WMA files. Any music App I already tested can see only 97 of them; it doesn't play the role, if the files are MP3 or WMA ones...
The apps tested are the built-in music app, bTunes and ³ (Cube).
I would like to know if somebody can reproduce the issue...

Same with me.
Also got an issue whereby songs on a compilation album are all showing as separate albums. Anyone got any ideas how to solve this?
Thanks

Desire doesn't display MP3 album pics

The title says it all.
Opening the MP3s in any Windows MP3 player show the album pictures.
Any idea why the original music player in the Desire doesn't do it?
Rooted Desire with R5 rom from Modaco.
I've got a similar issue. I can see 90% of my album art but some are missing despite being present in the folder I've put on my desire!

I had this. I even tried embedding album art in the mp3 and making sure there was a jpg in the same directory. However, the HTC app simply refused to use some no matter what I did.
The solution? I downloaded MixZing from the marketplace. I liked it so much, I upgraded to the non-Ad version.
I couldn't persuade my Desire either.
I embedded all artworks directly into mp3, deleted the albumthumbs directory several times... no luck.
But what is more annoying is that for some mp3s it displays the completely wrong artwork. I opened the mp3 in Winamp, WMP - the artwork is correct. When I play it in Desire the artwork shown is completely different.
PS: Meridian behaves the same way.
Have you tried deleting all the files in the /sd card/albumthumbs folder and rebooting your phone?
I had this issue when I first got the phone, I managed to fix it by clearing out the tags of each album and filling them again, took multiple attempts though.

this worked for me too.
It does work but only if you never add more music. I always seem to get problems with new mp3s added.
And I never understood where does it take the incorrect artwork from.
clear data at Media Store! Thats works fine!
Settings > Applications > Manage applications > Media Storage
then reboot the device...
xdad, your solution works, thanks!

Sync music

Morning all
I've had a look at the search function but nothing seems to answer my question
After coming from the HD2 with flawless sync'ing with WM12 i now have a better phone that won't sync at all with windows media player. Nothing appears at all in the WM12 windows when i am connected in Disk drive mode or HTC sync.
I have tried media monkey but have all my music sorted via WM12. does anyone know how its possible to sort it or am i flogging a dead horse?
thanks
I'm stealing your thread here a bit. I wonder how you organize your music to get the album art to show up.
On my old Touch Diamond 2 I put the music on my storage card like this (Storage card\music\artist\album), in every album I had the files included in the album and a album art named Folder.jpg, HTC music player then made it's own album art based on the ones I put and scaled them. Is it the same on the Desire?
my albums that are organised off WM12 which either get the album art manually when i drag and drop it or they download auto appear in the Desire however some don't no idea why and i have given up trying. The desire seems to arrange its music is singles even for albums so you end up with loads of folders and 1 file inside instead of 1 artist and then the albums for them like in the HD2.
But still i do require an answer for WM12 if anyone knows
windows mobile is made to sync with wmp12 obviously android isnt, the htc music player can read wmp id3 tags so as long as you music is organised in wmp12, just copy the albums to your sd card and all the album art and track names should show up the same, it does for me anyway

i organise my music like /sdcard/my documents/music and just drop the folder with indervidual albums into the music folder, like on my pc, and it all works sweet for me also i dont put any album art in, as thats included in the id3 tag
whats the way that you get playlists onto the desire quicker than making them on the phone its self?
i'm assuming that if i make the playlist via windows then drop it onto the phone it won't work due to the files addresses pointing to PC directories.

[Q] Reindex Music

Hello, guys.
Today I decided to delete all my music from my mobile and move it back again from my computer because I fixed a lot of the mp3 tags etc. What can I say? I'm a perfectionist. The problem is that the Music player -- even though it appears to be reindexing -- updates nothing other than the album pictures that I had embedded in the mp3s. The genres etc are still wrong which led me to believe that it does not really reindex.
I tried all the usual stuff and also tried this weird idea: unmounted the memory card, used Advanced Task Killer to complete shut the music player, went to Settings->Applications and cleared the music player's data (size was only 8kb though), remounted the SD card, but the Music Player still indexed the files with the old tags.
Does anyone have a fix for this?
Thanks in advance,
Louis.
That's an odd problem. Have you tried testing it on an alternative music player application?

Actually, after a quick search I've found that many people have the same problem. From what I had read, changing a Media Player wouldn't fix it for them either (even Media Players with the built-in option to actually reindex the music). I tried something that at the very least sounded like a stupid idea and it was fixed though. Haha! Moving the files to a different directory than the one that the previous files were in causes the Media Player to completely reindex the files (mp3 tags, album covers etc).
I guess the logic behind it is: The music index file keeps a path to the mp3 together with something like comma separated values for the mp3 tags. Since the updated files I had moved from the PC to the memory card had the exact same filename and only altered mp3 tags, the phone completely ignored the mp3 tags assuming that it was the same file. By moving the music to a different directory you cause the index file to be updated (or even recreated) because the path to the new mp3s is not listed in the index file.

music player problem

I am having a problem with the defult music player on the desire hd.
As of this morning it will only show 32 tracks off my memory card?
The rest are nowhere to be seen within the player. Yet they are there and I can open them one by one with Astro and they play in the defult player if i want them too.
They are not showing up in it?
Anyone know what could be up with that and how I could fix it ?
I have removed the sd and put it back in in the hope that it would correct the problem but i have had no luck?

[Q] music playing

Hello everyone! I'm having problems playing some music on the phone. I've used googles music app from market, default htc music app, and cubed player. They all seem to skip over all the songs. However, finding the music in root explorer will play it from there! They are mp3 320 bitrate... I assume not variable quality. Anyone else experience this? I'm on skyraider 1.3 btw. Thanks!
all the music players i've used work fine with my mp3 files. are the songs that get skipped in the same folder as the other files that work? the only thing i can think of is a .nomedia file is placed in their folder, which makes any media invisible to any media player, pics included.
try moving the music that isn't recognized to a different location and check again.
