[Q] Help downgrading HBOOT from 0.83 to 0.80

I have a branded (UK) Vodafone Desire that I loaded a stock Froyo ROM onto, now I need to get back to the branded Vodafone image (so I can return it for repair)
I have been trying to do this with the correct (Vodafone UK) RUU listed on thread 695667, but I keep getting a ERROR 140 : BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR.
I'm guessing this was because the HBOOT was 0.93, so I then successfully downgraded to Android 2.1 taking HBOOT back from 0.93 to 0.83 using the details in thread 768256.
My HBOOT is now 0.83 but the RUU still fails - same ERROR 140 : BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR.
So, is there a way to downgrade my HBOOT to 0.8 again (hoping that the RUU will work correctly with that version) ??
Or is there a way to extract the ROM image from the RUU exe and apply it using another method. ??
Thanks .. Ken
The problem is not HBOOT. Run the downgrade utility again, but -don't- install the downgrade in the bootloader (as described in the post), just select no, and then you can install the Vodafone RUU.
That worked a treat - thanks teppic74 !!

Help getting my desire back to unrooted state

Hello
I am about to sell my desire and would like to get it back to a non modified unrooted state (ill just leave alone my S-OFF if possible), so that when i sell it, it will be able to install OTA updates and such.
Also i would like to get the original recovery back.
Before i modded it it was unbranded, so no rebranding needed.
Thanks in advance
This tutorial should help:
http://theunlockr.com/2010/06/07/how-to-unroot-the-htc-desire/
And as far as I know (never tried it tough) it will revert back also to S-ON.
okay i tried doing this, but the installer throw a error 140 says BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR.
My bootloader says BRAVO UNKNOWN SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.75.0000
The updater says from
Version:
1.21.405.2
To
Version
1.15.405.3
so prob i need a newer installer but where do i find that?

Changing hboot version

I have hboot version 0.43. Had branded rom from O2 1.26.
Now I have an unlocked HOX with custom rom.
I saw different screenshots with other versions like 0.94
Is it possible and also necassery to update the hboot?
Can't be done until you get the OTA from o2 (which you'll need the RUU first to go back to 1.36)
Thanks!

Can't seem to find the rom.zip for HBOOT 2.00.0029 anywhere.

SOLVED! Found this helpful soul and with his rom.zip I updated my HBOOT to the 2.00.0029.
Original thread: Tried every RUU. Even the official ones form the HTCDEV website, they don't contain any. Tried the shipped-roms . com website too, but they're only 2.00.0027 (Running the RUU itself will result in an error). Currently I'm at a stock rom, HBOOT 2.00.0027, S-OFF and would like the rom.zip for the later version.
Although, if unlocking the bootloader for 27 and rooting it is possible then I'd be glad.
Highest bootloader version is 2.00.0030
