HTC diamond boot up so slow - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV ROM Development

Just wonder is there any way to speed up the boot up process of the phone.
Because whatever ROM I used, it seems to take at least 3 minutes to completely be ready.
Many thanks

Yes diamond is slow at bootup.but 3 mins its a lot. try a different hard spl and use mtty for flashing

I have made sure I sure Mtty all the time, and flash from internal, and the SPL I am currently using is 1.93.
So other than this there is no any other way to speed it? is it nothing to do with the ROM I am using?

The fastest windows boot up ive experienced is with GenY's Xdandroid ROM because its bare bones.

Got a quick question on that.. I am aware of the warning on the Hard Reset method, but I was wondering when I go from a RBS type of rom.. to another RBS rom.. should I put in the official rom in between or I can skip it?

anyone got a dump of the new Eris ROM yet?

Not sure if you guys have seen, but it looks like Verzion hit the button on the OTA for 2.1 a little early... don't spose any one with hacking skills have got their hands on this yet have they? As the Eris is essentially a CDMA Hero...

I have no idea if this actually is the update however. If it is do you think it would be easy to port to the GSM Hero?
as soon as we get a dump ill be working on a hero port, shouldnt be too much trouble as cdma support is native in android 2.1

Yeah, that's what they said here:
http://www.androidguys.com/2010/02/18/halfbaked-android-21-leaks-select-droid-eris-handsets/
I haven't played around with it yet though.
And here are the boot.img and system.img folders opened up with my kitchen:
http://myunspace.com/?d=889DE5341
I guess we just need to replace boot.img-kernel with the one from a stock Hero ROM, and then rebuild the boot.img... and then build the final ROM with everything else.
EDIT: If someone can rebuild the boot.img (with Hero boot.img-kernel) and use it to build the final ROM, that would be great. I don't have a Ubuntu Linux machine with me right now. Just download the kitchen in my sig if you don't know how.

Why don't you just get the RUU from the original post: pcdphones.com/downloads/ADR6200_MR2_Upgrade.zip
Just run the RUU, and wait for the first dialog message.
Then, go to Start-->Run, and type: %TEMP%, and look for Rom.zip. You'll find system.img and boot.img in there.

[Q] Couple of newbie questions :)

Greetings fellow Friends from Galaxy
I just moved myself from the HTC Magic section to this one.. It was quite a jump, the Galaxy S Camera and 4inch screen are AWESOME =)
I have a few noob questions that I don't want to spread through many posts, so i've chosen to get them all here, without polution this forum section. Also they might come in handy for future Galaxy S buyers!
My phone is: 2.1-update1 @ I9000XXJF5
Question #1
Well at first glance everyone's trying to fix the "LAG PROBLEM"... I haven't noticed any lag!! What are we talking about? If its a fix.. i want it too
Click to collapse
the lag problem does not accure instantly after startup, it takes a while to do so.
Question #2
The phone came with Android 2.1, but at samsung-firmwares.com and at this dev section of the forum, i saw the JP3 Froyo release. How stable is this? Is it already a daily driver or a total beta? As an Android lover, i'd love to have the latest
Click to collapse
this release is, lets say, alpha quality, however some do use it daily and seems to be stable so far, but the jit is broken, so dont expect it to be faster than eclair
Question #3
I've used the One Click rooting solution and then the ROM Manager Clockwork to boot into clockwork rom and make a full-system backup. In my HTC Magic i had the recovery ROM (Amon_RA) flashed into the internal phone memory, so even if i didn't have a ROM installed, i was ALWAYS able to boot into recovery. That was a safety plus. How can i flash the Clockwork Recovery directly to my phone, without the ROM Manager? I'd feel more secure if i could count on recovery even if, for example, i flashed a non-working system ROM.
Click to collapse
you can run the clockwork recovery from original recovery by simply running it´s update.zip, this does in fact load the clockwork recovery into memory
Question #4
So what is YOUR favourite ROM? My stock has some unwanted apps, and even worse, it's Eclair. I'd like to switch soon, but i don't know these Galaxy S ROMs Tell me what's the best ROM for you!
Thanks guys, XDA is indeed the #1 place for mobile stuff
Cheers

If JIT is broken, the rest of new 2.2 features can be achieved through Market tools... I'll stick to 2.1 then. By the way, where's a CLEAN 2.1 Rom? this one has lots of service-provider tools... They suck.

Now That's a fix! So i just have to keep my update.zip of Clockwork Rom in INTERNAL SD CARD so that anytime, anywhere, i just have to perform update.zip and the Clockwork will boot ONCE from RAM and them be cleared at next boot, right?

Just do a full wipe in recovery and flash an other ROM.
You can also try to do a full wipe and flash this ROM again. Must simply work...
Sorry - wasnt too precise. I'm running RUU version of this one. My phone just came back from repair and they've (T-mobile UK) of course upgraded it to the latest available version which happens to be this one.

When I tried the Stock-upgraded-version I could root it with Universal Androot, then copy a custom recovery.img to my sdcard and go into terminal or ADB and type:
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
The recovery.img-part can be replaced with wherever you placed the image file, and whatever you named the file..
Then boot into recovery: Turn off -> Press&Hold Home and turn on -> Flash whatever ROM and get on with my phone
In Denmark however, the carriers don't lock the phones, so I don't need a goldcard..

I have tried both. At Villan rom I had problems with app2sd (when I installed over 50 apps it took all the phones memory and almost nothing at ext. sd partition) so I've switched back to Ele..
edit: + battery life seems to be better on ele rom..
Conclusion: On villain rom dalvik cache is on the phone and it's faster if you have slow sd card.
On other hand, if you have a fast sd card and a lot of applications, use Ele's rom.

Steps are here:-
http://miuiandroid.com/community/threads/installing-the-htc-one-x-required-s-on-steps.16592/
Due to the problems with HTC, their HTC One series devices have S-ON, which means you cannot flash a boot image during recovery. This is an essiential part of the ROM, so you must flash the boot.img a different way until this is fixed.
GU5TAF has taken the boot.img out of the ROM and made a helper ZIP which you simply plug your phone into computer and run the script pertaining to your computer. Tutorial below.
Boot into recovery and make a Nanddroid backup.
Please take a backup. So you can restore if needed.
Download the ROM (updated link in this topic )
Download the boot.img flasher (links below)
Mirror 1: http://www.mediafire.com/file/cecie9129tl3ctw/Flash_Boot_MIUI.zip
Mirror 2: http://miui.connortumbleson.com/other/ma/Flash_Boot_MIUI.zip
Mirror 3: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwhvchLlzxNkRHFHdVdPLWdDa3M/edit (download top left dropdown)
d3b868b0ffdede32d23cdb483fd322cc Flash_Boot_MIUI.zip
Boot to Bootloader (hold vol down & power during boot)
Or run "adb reboot bootloader" while connected via USB
Make sure your One X displays "fastboot usb" at the header of the fastboot screen.
Extract the boot.img flasher zip you downloaded in step 2 anywhere on your PC & run the script relating to your OS (windows, linux or mac)
Press the power button once, click volume down, highlight recovery & press power (This will take you to recovery)
Flash the downloaded ROM via recovery normally.
This tutorial can help flashing, if need be: http://miuiandroid.com/community/threads/how-to-update-upgrade-miui.15424/
Reboot
Enjoy MIUI!
