Guys please help, I don't have the network sharing option available when I go settings >wireless and networks>more , the mobile network sharing option is not there to enable me turn on mobile hotspot. What can I do?
Do you have a US version M8? The WiFi hotspot option in intentionally removed from many US carrier versions.
In that case, your best bet to get the feature is to unlock the bootloader, flash custom recovery, and install a ROM that has the feature enabled.

He probably means that it's US Unlocked and bought through HTC. Not branded means not tied to one carrier.
The title pretty much describe the whole issue: I get a persistent notification that there's an OTA update to install, but touching the notification does nothing.
There seem to be no way of manually installing it either, because there is no update option listed in the configuration.
Can't unlock the bootloader either, because there is no OEM unlock listed in the dev tools.
I've never seen anything like this. Spent days researching, but found nothing. So here I'm hoping someone might have a clue about how to enable updates and OEM unlock in a situation like this.
Any help is appreciated.
This phone is a Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite model M1805D1SG, running Android 8.1 (OPM 1.171019.019.V9.6.6.0ODLMIFF)

for unlocking the bootloader you have to use ADB tools. you can't just unlock it in developer setting.
for your problem i would recommend you too check the forums on how to unlock the bootloader with adb and then grab the latest official A2 lite rom (10.0.40. or something i guess) and flash it with the MiFlashTool.
this procedure will upgrade your device without any loss of data.
I'm telling you this because that's how i update my device (which is rooted and kernel modified) with no problems.

True. We usually need to run 'fastboot oem unlock' to actually unlock the bootloader. Problem is, the command needs one to enable OEM unlocking in the developer options beforehand, otherwise it fails. And I dont have any means to enable OEM unlocking in the dev options, because it is not listed at all!
And without that I'm unable of doing any flashing.
The only report I found regarding a missing an OEM unlock option in the dev tools concern Samsung S9. Apparently one needs to wait 7 days for it to appear. But such a thing is unheard of concerning a Xiaomi phone.

I wonder if there's a way to enable it through command line, in a local shell (inside android)

Strange
I'm on 9.6.11.0 version and it's there. You're on 9.6.6.0 version. Maybe there's someone who had experience with 9.6.6.0 and OEM unlocking but if not there's always the option to do an OTA update to a newer firmware version.
Just don't update to a 10.x.x.x version (Pie) if you want to keep Oreo

Hello! I have the following problem.
I've installed a stock and locked the bootloader. The system loads without wi-fi connection, mobile network and the bluetooth is locked (picture of the padlock on the left side above).
I can not unlock the bootloader by system or fastboot.
I've researched a lot, but I have not found anyone who has managed to recover the phone.
Has anyone seen this?
usually in this situation bluetooth is still available so you can use bluetooth tethering to connect to other phones network, login to your google account and enable oem unlocking. are you sure your blutooth is disabled too?
If that's the case, I'm not sure how to work around. maybe "usb reverse tethering" to use your pc's network would help. there are apps to do this But I haven't done it for years and not sure if it's possible in new versions of android...
Did you flash the right firmware for your variant? If you were on a custom rom before, did you format the userdata after installing stock? (fastboot -w) Do you still have an imei and baseband? (check in the system settings to verify)

Yes, bluetooth is disabled and locked, there´s a padlock icon on the top left corner showing this. I´ve never seen anything like this.
I´ve couldn´t found any information of that on the internet, its seems no one has experienced something like this.

Answering your questions:
Did you flash the right firmware for your variant?
Yes, i´ve done this before many times.
If you were on a custom rom before, did you format the userdata after installing stock? (fastboot -w)
Yes, i did. It were on LineageOs 16.
Do you still have an imei and baseband?
It has IMEI but no baseband.

Not yet. But after a lot of researching i´ve came to this conclusion: it will be recovered when i flash the newest rom stock. So i have to wait to release out.
But deep inside i know that there´s have be a way to recover beside this, but i just don't know yet. I´ve must find out how, that´s why i´m here.
somebody can help me? i have all title problems, i can't flash a firmware because my bootloader is locked and i cant unlock the bootloader cuz i cant pass from start up config, is same as a google count lock, but i know the Gaccount the problem is i dont have internet, wifi or mobile data cuz baseband not found
1st reboot to recovery and do a factory reset to see if that gets your basebands back.
If that doesn't work, try using Bluetooth to sign into your google account so you can enable oem unlocking and unlock your bootloader, that will give you some wiggle room.
If neither of those work, then try flashing the latest firmware for your variant. In most cases with a locked bootloader you can only flash the same firmware version or newer. If you succeed here, check everything and go back to step 1 if needed.
If none of that works, the only thing left to try is a blankflash. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77623934&postcount=5
If all of your problems occurred because you tried flashing a pie firmware not intended for your variant, you might be out of luck at the moment. People are getting into real trouble that they can't fix doing this.
Good morning, I have the same problem, no wifi and no mobile data, I tried to install the same rom and a superior and nothing, I'm working the android 9 pie to see if I can recover my device, because not even with bluetooth connected I could unlock the oem option.

If you know where the contact points are, you can attempt a jtag. Other than that, no one has been able to fix the Pie update messing up another variant.
Edit. This is why I gave the disclaimer in the below post... Never flash a zip not intended for your model or major patch version.

If you've upgraded to a pie modem you can't go back to oreo modem. The best you can hope for is that either the correct firmware for your variant will be released, or that another pie variant will have a baseband that you can use.

What was the "old" solution?
Try this:
Boot into system, skip through the setup, connect to WiFi. Go to system settings, enable developer options. OEM Unlocking will not be visible. Force an update check, then go back and check to see if OEM Unlocking became visible. If it has, KG/RMM state should be OK or COMPLETED, and you should be able to flash custom firmware.
