playing avi - Desire General

is there any way to play avi fles on the desire ???

try aplayer or mplayer. Android is super-dog**** for video playback apps, even winmo tcpmp ***** slaps Android and that was 3 years back

You'll get a better result by converting to MP4 first from what I understand. My Desire should be delivered today so haven't tried it yet but have some videos converted to MP4 using the HD (Blackstone) video converter, you'll find on here somewhere, waiting to be tested.

i also convert mine to MP4. Redkawa is the only converter i've found that keeps the audio in sync when played on the desire though. (g1 settings, single pass MP4)

yxflash plays avi/divx videos. i think it's a trial though - limited to a certain number of minutes playback before you have to register.

.mkv movies are not playing in core or WMP

Im having difficulties playing .mkv files inside coreplayer. The files are 500MB (harry potter movies) the first 2 movies played without issue but now I am getting issues. When I go to start it in core it gives me what I assume to be the core player version of the hourglass to mean its thinking. It just stays on this screen.
i have thrown it thorough a ton of different encoders none work either giving me audio no video, crappy distorted video or wont load at all.
I have read numerous threads and taken them into account when using the encoders that allow you to pick your own settings but still no luck.
Any ideas?
Tried
videora tp2 endcoder
Touch HD encoder
Handbrake
superC
Thats all I recall I have erased the other programs.
i also have some mkv that coreplayer will not play. i researched awhile back and my bullet point was that they are not supported. i just downloaded HTC Touch HD VIdeo Converter and converted it.

Problem with audio while playing vids

Hello
Im using cm7 rc1. When im playing long movies (~1h30) audio strem is restarting in circa 70th minute and playing from begining(only audio, vid plays normal). I beg for help!

That means the hardware cannot handle the file.
Wildfire processor is not that good. And also lack of gpu. Also the lowest screen resolution. All these limit video playback.
And regarding video playback the files that can be played by system player (hardware decoding) will play much better than the same specs files that can't be played by system player (software decoding). And that is within the qvga video resolution on wildfire. System player on wildfire supports 3gp and mp4 formats and codecs h263 , h264, mpeg4.
And suppose if you take 1ghz devices, even the software decoding will play without any hitch. Which means that hardware can handle that.

[Q] Cant play WMV videos!

Hello every 1,
first of all, i know theres many threads about "playing wmv on android devices" on this forum , but none of them helped....
Since 3 days I'm trying to play an HD wmv video on my GN , so far I've tried MX, Mobo, Dice and many many other media players with no luck
(The video plays flawlessly on my PC)
Mobo plays the viode with f*cked up sound..
Dice & MX play the video with the high fps and almost no lag BUT the sound starts to mess up after few seconds ( it either completely stops or it get sluggish ) and the video just continue on playing without sound/ with sluggish sound.....
Otherwise I've tried HW/SW/fast SW/ decoding settings but with the same results :'(
Any idea what else can I do (other than converting the vid) ??
Best regards
try daroon player or export your file to a new format like mp4
Rock player plays pretty much every video format

Dice player or mx video player.
I prefer dice

[Q] Video playback problem HTC one X

I cannot play any videos from the first day on HTC one X from the stock video player or few others from google play. Other video players like MX Player can play the videos. The video formats are supported by the phone (avi,flv,mp4). Same videos I can play on my Samsung Galaxy S2. I have done factory reset twice but its of no help. My software number is 1.28.720.10. Please help in this matter. The error message is "Sorry this video cannot be played" after the player struggles to play it for 5-7 seconds.

Its not the format, its the codecs.
The videos your trying to play must have been produced using codecs that are not supported.

there is another thread about this somewhere, but i'll answer it again. it's because of the audio or video codecs, and unless HTC updates their stock player, it's never going to work. i don't know what you're trying to watch, but if it's tv shows and blu-rays in hd then that is why. i don't know about video codecs, but i don't imagine that the One X does "DTS-HD MA 5.1", 7.1, or any heavy stuff like that.

Sorry but can you be more specific.. the same videos can be played in Galaxy S2. It is not playing any of 30 videos I have. Any way to solve this codec problem.
I've also had issues with players like MX player with some of the more recent HD mkv audio codecs.
However BS Player plays them all fine and perfect, install it (have adfree) and enjoy your media

Can you please tell the codec types supported by HOX. I read somewhere it supports H.264 codec and tried converting with total video converter but still the problem persists..

Would be better if you just listed a few mediainfo's of the vids you have.

The best HW media player for the One X

Anybody know which the best HW supporting media player is for the One X?
I really like dice player but it won't let me fast forward M2TS files :/
try bs player (my player of choice for hd content) or mx player.
I think alla other players than DICE player makes the HOX get hot .
I watch videos all the time using bs player and it doesn't get hot for me. Long story short though try those apps see which is best for you.
Dice player for me is awful there's loads of my media it doesn't play well (it struggles with the audio tracks mostly).
I think BSplayer is the best one! It plays everything! It even plays in HW-mode through network, which most of the other have serious problems with. And directly from rars too.
However, the only player we know for sure that's using the companion core is the built in one, but maybe power-saving isn't any concern? But with HW-decode on the other players, one should think the load should be low enough for the companion core, but who knows?
yup thats what I found, if you want something that just works with your media bs player is the one. I tried every player going for some of my media and that was the only one that handled the audio tracks properly etc.
I dont think any 3rd party players yet will be optimized for tegra 3 to use the companion core, the stock player does it so thats good it shows it can be done but there are not many devices out there yet with tegra 3 so 3rd party apps havent caught up.
No luck either on all players i've tried with fast forwarding m2ts files
Bs player was one of the best ones I found
However I think i'll stick to Dice player for now, everything seems to play smoothly. Just a shame I can't fast forward/rewind m2ts files
Have you tried Mobo player? It's free and so far has managed everything I have thrown at it...

Yeah i've tried that as well sadly, it doesn't like my m2ts files either
I'll have to find some way of muxing them to mkv cheers anyway
you could try format factory http://www.formatoz.com/ and I hear good things about video spirt (get the light version for free) http://www.verytools.com/videospirit/index.html
I am using mx player pro version and it is good. It can play all videos.

MXPlayer.
It's bad-ass. I haven't found anything it won't play (oh.... hang on, flv's! - but I don't have any)
+1 for MXPlayer. This app is awesome. Great quality video and support subs.
But what I like the most is that it can play file streamed from PC with very little buffering (depend on video size though). I really enjoy watching without having to transfer tons of files to the phone
Also an MX player user. Would get the pro if it was on sale otherwise happy with the free version.

I used mxplayer for a while but it struggled with Mkv with ac3, and in s/w mode it got hot.
I switched to dice and it not only plays Mkv with ac3 flawlessly but stays cool.
Watching 720p videos on this phone is just amazing... Sometimes it's better than watching on a big screen. there is more depth to the picture.

thats basically exactly the issue I keep having with it, loads of my media is MKV and most of it has AC-3 audio which mx player fails at. Sure dice works well for it but so does BS player
Either way there are good options out there, its just a shame that I ended up paying for mx player and vplayer etc only to have to use a free app (bs player) because they dont do as good a job

Hi.. Sorry I may sound noob but I've never knew we can stream videos from pc to HTC one X. Can you please guide me how to do so? And yeah I have MX player, if that is what's required.
Just share your movies as you would share any other folder, open it with a file manager from your phone and play the files (this is technically "streaming" but still you watch your movies without having to transfer them). MX does nice job but some files need to be played in sw mode when played from a network location.
