How to partition your SD in Desire? - Desire General

Sorry for being dump? can anyone tell me how do your partition your SD in Desire?? Thanks.

While in Recovery, using the optical trackpad, now select "Partition sdcard" -> "Partition SD" and issue a SWAP=0, EXT2=512, FAT32=<remaining> partition command (read carefully the instructions provided on-screen by the procedure, you'll have to use the volume keys too, here).
Find and issue the "SD:ext2 to ext3" command.
Go back to the Recovery Console main menu and select "Reboot system now". While rebooting, unplug the Desire from the USB port.
*Note that this will format your whole SD card. Make a backup before doing this if you need.

Problem is how do I get to the recovery console?. Everytime I have pressed the hold back and power button --and then recovery --when it boots it just stop at the exclaimation mark device thing and do nothing?? I knew I have seen that option while doing the rooting procedure. But I was afraid of doing then, because I do not want to screw up the rooting process.

Are you running a Windows, Linux, or Mac OS?
Read the following guide for the step-by-step approach:
Before you attempt this, Backup your data. Attempt what is suggested in section 6 (titled Install Apps2SD), and make sure you have the necessary file downloaded and installed via Recovery Console (r1-a2sd-desire-dalvik-fresh-signed.zip) before you partition your SD Card:

Hi guys,
Does this has to do any thing with Goldcard?
After doing the mentioned steps how do I know if I successed or not?
Appreciate your help
Regards

When you can see the exclaimation mark on device, you must run recovery-windows.bat or recovery-linux.sh or recovery-mac.sh for start the alternate recovery.

I assume u already rooted your desire? Else its kind pointless to reformat your SD.
Witch guide die u follow? Check the .rar .zip file u downloaden for it.. and find recovery-win.... Linux....
Run that once u selected recovery from the menu..

I am not allowed to add links to my skype or messenger cause I am new at this forum...
The problem is:
1) No matter if it's my goldcard, normal sdcard or no card at all, my Desire is stuck at the boot screen. Anyone who know what to do?
2) I do this to get as2d to work:
1.Put your Goldcard into your phone and turn on your phone
2.Attach your phone to your PC via microUSB cable (harddrive mode).
3.Copy the r1-a2sd-desire-dalvik-fresh-signed.zip file you downloaded earlier onto your Goldcard sdcard via your phone.
4.Turn off the phone and unplug it from your PC.
5.Turn on your phone while holding the volume down button.
6.You will see HBOOT on the screen.
7.Use the volume buttons to move up and down and power button to select the RECOVERY option.
8.You will now see a red triangle on the screen, at this point plug your phone into your PC via your microUSB cable.
9.Double click on recovery-windows.bat inside the pushfiles_windows.zip folder you unzipped as part of the root process.
10.Looking back at the Desire, you'll see that the red triangle screen is gone and a greenish recovery console appeared.
11.Using the optical trackpad select Wipe > Wipe data/factory reset
12.After this has completed do Wipe > Wipe cache
13.Again, once this has completed do Wipe > Wipe Dalvik-cache.
14.Next select Flash zip from sdcard and select r1-a2sd-desire-dalvik-fresh-signed.zip.
15.Once flashing is over, select the "Power off" command.
16.Unplug your phone from the PC, and replace the GoldCard sdcard with your normal sdcard.
◦Remember to have backed up your normal sdcard before proceeding, as the next step will wipe all data from it.
1.Turn on your phone while holding the volume down button.
2.You will see HBOOT on the screen.
3.Use the volume buttons to move up and down and power button to select the RECOVERY option.
4.You will now see a red triangle on the screen, at this point plug your phone into your PC via your microUSB cable.
5.Double click on recovery-windows.bat inside the pushfiles_windows.zip folder you unzipped as part of the root process.
6.Using the optical trackpad select Partition sdcard > Partition SD
7.Select SWAP=0, EXT2=512 and allow the rest to be FAT32.
8.Select the SD:ext2 to ext3 option in this menu.
9.Go back to the Recovery Console main menu and select Reboot system now. While rebooting, unplug the Desire from the USB port.
10.And thats it! You now have a rooted Desire with apps2sd. Get in!
AT 14.Next select Flash zip from sdcard and select r1-a2sd-desire-dalvik-fresh-signed.zip. I get problems!!!
It says:
E:Can't symlink /system/xbin/[
E:Failure at line5:
symlink busybox SYSTEM:xbin/[
My skype is:

Any one who can help?
Partition your SD card with SWAP=0, EXT2=512 rest FAT32. Turn on USB-MS, transfer ROM of your choice.zip from your computer, flash that zip from the card and voila.

Another question...
Now my Desire is v1.21 rooted. I want to install as2d too. Should that be a problem to do?
EDIT:
Installed a2sd following this guide:
6. Install Apps2SD

[help] HTC Desire Can't Enter Recovery Mode and Clockworkmod

Hi guys, i am a newbie here.
Last night i was trying to root my desire using unrevoked. I followed the guide from XDA step by step and everything seemed fine until word "done" appear in unrevoked.
After that, desire supposed to enter recovery mode and clockworkdmod but there was nothing appear in the screen. My desire suddenly shut down.
Can you tell me what am i suppose to do then because i want to put custom rom in my desire and now there's nothing i can do because it can't enter recovery mode (it only able to enter bootloader or Android OS itself).
Thanks

when you are in boot loader, use the volume down key and goto recovery and git power button. you should then be taken to clockwork recovery. this is where you can select your rom from SD card and flash
I've tried to do that and now it stuck in HTC Logo. Doest it mean i've to try unrevoked again or simply unroot it?
try rebooting by taking battery off. i'm not an expert but you might have to do it manually using the guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696189
did you install the unrevoked drivers?
Okay i will try. Btw, in case i want to unroot, can you tell me where i can get "RUU_Bravo_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.19.707.7_Radio_32.36.00.2 8U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126179" ? The link from XDA seems down and i can download any.
Me and another member have encountered the same issue, seems there's some bug in HBOOT or something.
Boot into Android, go to Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset. Once you confirm it, it will reboot your phone into Recovery.
BUT, unless you re-format (partition) your SD Card, you won't be able to get back in again (unless you do the Factory data reset again).
This seems to happen randomly. Right now I can get into Recovery just fine. But once the bug occurs, the only way to get it to stop is to format your SD card.
Now i am thinking to unroot it than trying to do the whole rooting step all over again. Can you tell me where i can get the RUU for HTC Desire Asia

Okay, i've done unrooting with HTC Desire RUU Asi and what happen now my SLCD is brick. I am really hopeless right now because guide for "SLCD Brick" doesn't even work in my phone because once again my htc can't enter recovery mode ><
"I am trying to use the guide from sprinker right now. Hopefully it will work"
when you are in hboot the volume down/up button work?
Hi all,
I also have the problem that I can no longer enter the recovery mode on my desire.
Basically, whenever I am in the bootloader menu (either by pressing vol-down+power, return+power, or via ROMManager) and then select "recovery" I get right back to the "fastboot" screen.
I tried uninstalling/installing/upgrading ROMManager and also tried flashing clockwork via the newest version of Unrevoked (downloaded yesterday).
Nothing helps :-(
What I didn't try, yet, is reformatting my SDCard or resetting my device via "Settings > Privacy > Factory data reset". (I don't want to install all my apps >again<; I'm also a bit afraid that I break something an then cannot even reflash using recovery).
Here is some more info about my device:
- Flashed rom: Leedroid 2.1a
- HBOOT 0.83.0001
- RADIO 5.10.05.23
I would be really greatful if anyone had a solution for this problem.
P.s.: in case I HAVE to reset/format: can I somehow make a backup of all my apps&settings?
Hi all, I have the same problem now.
Everything works, after s-off, except I can no longer enter Recovery - any solution?
I didn't find an easy solution. I had to do the following (some steps might be optional but I wanted to be sure):
- Formated SD card (ext3 and fat partition)
- Complete reset via RUU (RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_T2_Radio_32.41.00.32U_4.08.00.09_release_137222_signed.exe)
- Using unrevoked to reinstall recovery rom
- Reinstalled my custom rom (Leedroid)
Now everything works.
BTW: via TitaniumBackup I could backup all my apps and data quite easily. Didn't expect it to work that well
thanks- what about s-off - is it working now for you?
"s-off" = ?
I Have a similar problem... I can't enter recovery. When i press "recovery mode", I just get a black screen with a phone and a "!" in it.
Have to pull battery to reboot desire.
I have formatted sd.
Quite annoying, cause I need to wipe my battery stats, and I don't know any other way to do it, than going to recovery.
I tried to update ROM to Cyanogenrom which was unsuccessful - just get boot loop.
I also get the same 'red triangle with exclamation mark on phone' icon when trying to go to recovery mode.
So now I have a Desire which boot loops and cant enter recovery mode ...
anyone know how to get out of this one?
This might work for you
WAIT, BEFORE YOU START, CREATE A GOLDCARD. IT IS VERY NECESSARY. THINGS WILL GO WRONG IF YOU DONT.
YOU MUST BE ABLE TO BOOT GO TO THE BOOTLOADER MENU.
Firstly, download this file. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13240777/Desire Downgrade.ZIP
Extract the files.
Run the win-down.bat file.
Follow on screen instructions.
After the process is completed, Head to the root of your SD card and check if there is a file named P99***IMG (FORGOT THE EXACT NAME BUT IT SHOULD BE SOMETHING LIKE THIS) there should be one.
Secondly, disconnect your phone and turn it off.
After that boot up your phone while pressing the volume down button and the power button.
The bootloader should be checking for files after awhile and once it found the file that is supposed to be in the root of your sd card, press the volume up button (NOT EXACTLY SURE, SHOULD BE THE ONE THAT SAYS YES AND CONTINUE)
It should be writing files to your phone. and replaces everything. E.G: HBOOT, RECOVERY,RADIO and such.
It should be writing files successfully and then it would ask you to reboot. Continue with the reboot and you should be having your Desire back to stock. Perfect.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE ARE RISKS INVOLVED LIKE FAILURE OF WRITING TO THE HBOOT. PLEASE REMEMBER TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. MAINLY, DO NOT BLAME ME FOR ANYTHING THAT GOES WRONG.
FINALLY, YOU SHOULD BE READING EVERYTHING UP TO HERE AND THAT YOU MUST HAVE A GOLDCARD (A GOLD SD CARD)
Hope this helps you and please ask if you have further questions. PM me if the questions cannot be answered here. Good Luck
This should bring back your phone to stock. Root your phone again after it is done
i have the same issue. but i got stuck when trying to partition my sd card. Now i can't enter Android itself only the bootloader. But i also lost my clockwork recovery...
it keeps looping the HTC Quitly brilliant bootscreen... Forever!
i am now formatting my sd card with my pc. will i then be able to go into recovery again using a zip file from clockwork i found? using this:
fake-flash
Fake-flash is only possible with root access, you need to be rooted to use it. Basically, its a way to have recovery running on the phone without using a PC (making it safer as you are less likely to brick using no USB cable to push files, instead, you push directly from your phone). You can use "ROM Manager" from the marketplace to do this. Simply place the downloaded test recovery image on the phone and the downloaded rom zip (renamed to update.zip) and flash using ROM Manager.
Preperation
Download the fake-flash update zip from one of the links below
Copy the update.zip to the root of your SD card (the name MUST remain as update.zip)
When you want to launch the recovery image
Turn on your device with 'volume down' pressed and select 'Recovery'
When the exclamation mark appears, press and hold 'volume up' then press 'power'
Select the second option, 'Apply sdcard:update.zip
That's it, ClockworkMod recovery should launch!

and then installing a ROM with it?
(sry for bad english)
i'm having the exact same problem. i've tried fake flash and it does nothing for me, so does flashing the clockwork recovery image. the only one i haven't used yet is the downgrade...hope that will help

Do you mean you can't install clockworkmod, or that you're having trouble using it to flash the rom? To install Clockworkmod, just use this app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032212
Run the app and install custom recovery, then reboot the phone. The first time you reboot, the custom BootMenu will display. Use the volume buttons to navigate the menu and the power button to select an option. Select Boot > Set Default > Normal > Go Back > Reboot System. After the phone has fully booted up, power it off and reboot again. If the custom recovery installed properly, a blue LED on the phone should briefly light up each time the phone reboots (while the Motorola logo is being displayed).
To use the recovery, turn off USB debugging on the phone (Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging), then power off the phone. Press the power button to turn the phone on again, and as soon as the blue LED lights up, press the volume down button. The custom BootMenu will display. Select Recovery > Custom Recovery.
Thanks it makes more sense now i'll give it ago tonight. Very much appreciated
Glad I could help. Let me know if you need further assistance.
I do ive got further..ive done

4. Go to "Recovery"
5. Go to "Latest or Stable or Custom Recovery"
6. "wipe data and cache"
7. Go to "Backup and Restore"
8. Go to "Advance Restore"
9. Select "MS2Ginger3.0"
Once i select Ms2Ginger3.0 its coming up with :
Clockworkmod recovery v2.5.1.8
Checking MD5 sums...
MD5 Mismatch!
Then nothing else. Ive had a look on the forums but i cant find a solution. Ive formatted the SD card as fat32. Ive re-downloaded the file. Do I need to do something else before with my factory 2.2 defy?
Any help would be great
Cheers

Did you unzip the "MS2Ginger3.0-RTM.zip" file? You have to unzip that file and put the "nandroid.md5" and "system.ext3.tar" files on your SD card in clockworkmod/backup/MS2Ginger. (The "MS2Ginger-Greenbread.zip" file should NOT be unzipped, however, and should be in the root of the SD card.)
If you did that correctly and you're still getting an MD5 mismatch error, try checking the MD5 sum yourself using an app like AFV (Android File Verifier), which is available free on the android market. (Open AFV and browse to the md5sum file, long-press it, and select “md5sum –c Type Check”.) Does AFV show a mismatch too?
ahh i didnt unzip. I dont do that with the hd2
Next step... Sorry I feel like a complete n00bie
All im getting now is system.img not found skipping restore of /system/.
Both files nandroid.md5" and "system.ext3.tar are in the folder....
Thank you

Yeah, that might be the problem. Download this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=787176&d=1321653982
Don't unzip it; just put it on the root of your SD card. Then boot into custom recovery, select Install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard, and install it. That will update your recovery to the latest version.

[Q] [Help] I flashed by accident an a2sd rom and now desire won't boot

i tried everything, i did the steps from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275632 but the problem is that i don't have on my sdcard or phone memory another rom to install.. what can i do? thanks!
Need a Little more detail, can you get into hboot, can you get into recovery?
are you S-off
Need some more information on what you have done please
Yes i can get into hboot and recovery and i am S-OFF. i did these steps:
[STEP1]- do a battery pull to power off the device (as this is the only way to do so when stuck in a bootloop)
[STEP2]- hold the VOLUME DOWN button and the POWER button to boot into the bootloader
[STEP3]- use the VOLUME UP/DOWN buttons to navigate, and POWER to select. Navigate to RECOVERY.
[STEP4]- select "mounts & storage" and then select the following options
[STEP5]- format boot
[STEP6]- format system
[STEP7]- format data
[STEP8]- format cache
[STEP9]- format sd-ext (IF YOU HAVE IT)
and now i am stuck in the 10th step, wich is to flash another rom from sdcard, but like i said the only rom iv'e got is the one that doesn't fit my phone. i tried to plug it via usb in 2 differnet pc's in order to upload another rom, but i couldn't get to the phone's file manager.
thanks!

Why don't you remove your sd card from the phone and stick it into your pc and load whatever rom and then put it back into your phone?

within recovery there is an option 'mounts and storage', then 'mount sd' or something like that.
then you'll be able to see it when plugged into PC, copy a rom over
it's always best to have an sd card reader to transfer files, much easier.
if you flash an a2sd rom in future which needs an sd partition, use gparted (step 5 here) or 4ext recovery

Desire Bravo help with Unrevoked

Hi all.
Apologies in advance for dredging up ancient topics.
Trying to root and S-off my old Desire Bravo and have spent HOOOUUURS without success.
Installed latest HTC synch manager then uninstalled (hopefully leaving the drivers behind).
Downloaded modded usb drivers and connected phone in HBOOT then found it in Device Manager and updated driver successfully.
Ran Unrevoked3 (as administrator).
Rebooted phone, USB debugging on, connected to PC (charging only).
Unrevoked3 sees the phone, does several steps, reboots phone into the HBOOT menu, and stops.
I've waited ages but it goes no further - says "Waiting for bootloader; make sure driver is installed!"
If I select Fastboot on the phone (with +/- and power) the phone shows Fastboot USB menu.
Unrevoked3 says "waiting for HBOOT to be ready" and stays that way.
If I switch back to BOOTLOADER on the phone, Unrevoked3 loses comm's with the phone and says "Try Again"
I've tried all of the above on an XP machine and also on WIN7.
To state the obvious, I'm a complete noob.
Any help would be great - cheers.
Update: Downloaded Ubuntu and booted it from USB stick (never used Linux before).
Downloaded Linux version of Unrevoked3 and extracted but it won't run? Try to launch it and nothing happens.
Any ideas? Should I put a spare HDD in my computer and do a proper Linux install?
@Gareth, since there's no direct answer: I did it years ago and remember only, that there was still another way besides Unrevoke. But why such efforts? Real chance of dead links, not actualized drivers... My Desire runs, just as sentiment or emergency-backup, on SlimKat. Everything works, but after 15' of usage any fun is gone: despite a optimized&slim setup it's very slow, screen reacts badly, funny camera... Actual Moto C or any 2nd hand for 80€ offers so much more.
Hi and thanks for replying (and Happy New Year).
I have a specific use for that the Desire would be ideal for.
I want to install, semi-permanently in my car.
It fits perfectly at the top of the windscreen, between the sun-visor and mirror.
Any larger phone won't fit plus the black/brown colour makes it nearly invisible from outside the car.
A more modern (usually white) phone would be obvious and the window smashed and phone stolen.
It would only be an MP3 player so doesn't need to be fast/powerful.
I would use Llama to wake the phone, start an MP3 app and then start a Bluetooth auto-connect app, when i start the car and the phone gets charger power.
I have had all the above working, except auto-connect. There are several auto-connect apps but the only one for Android 2.xxxx doesn't seem to work.
Hence the need to root and upgrade the OS.
I know I could use a more modern phone easily and cheaply (I have a spare Galaxy S3) but the Desire would be perfect for the job.
You're right about dead links though - it's a nightmare.
Can it still be done and can anyone help?
Thanks.
@Gareth: happy & successful new year for you! The 2nd method, I mentioned, is revolutionary, but appearently dead in the meantime
Should I create a proper Linux computer?
I have a spare HDD and it wouldn't be too much hassle.
I have downloaded Unrevoked3 for Win and Linux but I think the Windows route fails for drivers and Linux as I'm trying to run everything from a USB thumb drive?
Cheers

I've set up Ubuntu on a spare HDD, downloaded Unrevoked3 (as a tar.gz or whatever) and expanded it. The application (Reflash) does nothing when I try to run it.
Tried the Alpharev route - put phone details in and got Beta key, expanded the .tgz and the tried to run Revolutionary - nothing happens, just as with Reflash.
So I'm back to square one - in Windows7 I suspect driver issues and don't trust many of the links that I'm pointed to. In Linux (where hopefully drivers are not an issue) the extracted applications don't run - literally nothing happens when I click them
**EDIT** - I tried Revolutionary again, this time from WinXP and it worked partially.
It got as far as wanting to connect to download ClockWorkMod (I said OK) then crashed and closed.
BUT phone is now S-OFF.
Am I getting closer?
Hi again. I've managed to get S-OFF with Revolutionary.
Have now also flashed 4Ext custom recovery and wiped the system as 4Ext requested (so now I don't have an operating system, just recovery)
I was following this guide:
https://androidforums.com/threads/guide-s-off-and-root-htc-desire-with-revolutionary-updated.579600/
The download link for the Superuser root file in step 4)b is dead.
Can I still get it?
Sorry to be a noob, meddling with an ancient device
Custom ROM is usually rooted. Just flash it.
If you want to obtain stock ROM from RUU, I advise against this, because the only complete, official and fully working one is based on Android 2.2 Froyo.
Use SlimKAT and enjoy the optimal ROM for Bravo.
P.S.We all use the XDA forum, because there is support here.
I hope you have read the guide of Grand bortak?
SuperSU
Thanks for your help and tolerance of my dumb questions (more on the way).
I have read through the guide you quote but it doesn't help directly with my next problem:
I have partitioned my SD with 4Ext, exactly as the guide in your Slimkat link.
Have downloaded the ROM and Gapps zips
How do I flash the ROM?
Device Manager on my PC sees the phone, but it doesn't show in Windows Explorer.
I removed the SD, put it in an adapter and into PC then dropped the ROM zip in the root of the SD (not in the 4Ext folder).
Put back in phone and booted into 4Ext.
Checked md5sum of the file and it is nothing like the same as that shown in the download info on the host page - is this wrong?
Coz I'm foolish, tried to apply the zip anyway but it failed immediately.
Have now re-partitioned the SD (removing the ROM zip in the process) but am stuck (again).
Thanks in advance.
I know from experience that the 1GB partition is the best choice.
I assume you have installed adb and drivers for HTC.
It's best to flip data to your phone when it's in recovery mode.
Connect the cable to the phone, but the PC will not see the device yet.
In 4EXT, you click on "toggle usb storage" and Windows will recognize the SD memory as a connected drive and assign it a letter. Now you can manipulate files.
In the SD memory in the main directory, place ROM.zip and 4ext-5r9-bravo.zip from >this< post.
In 4EXE, click on the large arrow pointing to the left, and then disconnect the cable from the PC.
Installing recovery 4EXE v1.0.0.5 RC9
In recovery 4EXT, you choose:
- "install from sdcard" -> "choose zip from sdcard" -> 4ext-5r9-bravo.zip> click on the button with "v"
- when you finish, click again on the button with "v"
- click on the large arrow pointing to the left
- click on the large arrow pointing to the left
- click on the "Power menu" at the very bottom
- click on Reboot Recovery
ROM.zip installation
In recovery 4EXT, you choose:
- "wipe | format"
- "format all partitions (except sdcard)"
- click on the button with "v"
- when finished, click again on the button with "v" until it disappears
- scroll down the screen and click on the large arrow pointing to the left
- click on the button with "v"
- "install from sdcard" -> "choose zip from sdcard" -> 4ext-5r9-bravo.zip> click on the button with "v"
- click on the button with "v"
- click on the large arrow pointing to the left
- click on the large arrow pointing to the left
- click on "reboot now"
Next you follow the SlimKAT installation instructions.
Good luck.
Thanks a million for your time and effort.
"Installing recovery 4EXE v1.0.0.5 RC9" - done that bit now.
"ROM.zip installation" - you say to install the same "4ext-5r9-bravo.zip" file again - is this right?
I did it anyway, then rebooted.
When I start recovery, I see the following:
"Your 4EXT theme got corrupted!
It was uninstalled to prevent damage
The recovery hasn't been configured!
Use 4EXT Recovery Control or the free app
4EXT Recovery Updater, which is available
on www.4ext.net to setup the recovery
and to unlock configurable features.
Hint: check out recovery settings "
Despite the above message, I went to the SlimKat instructions :
Already created a 1GB partition.
Did full wipe.
Clicked: install from sdcard -> choose zip from sdcard -> Slim-bravo-4.4.4.build.9.0-UNOFFICIAL-20170723-1445.zip
Got the following:
-- Installing: /sdcard/Slim-bravo................zip
Finding update package
Opening update package
E:Can't open /sdcard/Slim-bravo...........zip
(bad)
Installation aborted
What have I done wrong boss?
In 4EXT select "info" and take a screenshot (search + power key) and add to the post.
Pictures can be found in [LETTER]:\4ext\screenshots
and/or
Return the unsuccessful ROM installation,
then select "tools" -> "copy recovery.log to sdcard" and add it to the post as a zipped attachment
or on https://pastebin.com and place the link here.
I took a screenshot of "Info" but it doesn't appear on the SD card when I connect to my PC (I clicked toggle and can see the phone, 4EXT and zips).
I've attached a pic of the screen taken with another phone.
Is the problem SD card formatting?
Format your SD.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2125513
I think I've formatted my SD but the info after partition says not.
This is driving me crazy.
Several pics attached but I can't copy/view/upload recovery.log
The first screen informs you that you do not have the 4EXT management application installed on the android. Do not worry about it.
Do not be offended, but you probably do not have a technical sense.
You have everything written on the 4th screen, which was not done:
formatting partitions to ext4.
So go back to the instructions for creating partitions and their formatting and read them carefully.
You should have partitions as in the attached picture.
I have read instructions for partitioning again and done exactly this:
In the instructions, I jump step 1 to 3 as I already have 4EXT recovery flashed and running.
So, step 4:
I boot into recovery and click tools -> partition sdcard -> click v -> remove all partitions and start from scratch -> 1024 -> skip -> skip
I see the third screen from my previous post
I click v -> see the first screen in this post -> click v (again) -> EXT4 -> see second screen in this post -> click v -> left arrow
I'm back at the 4EXT menu and click info and see the fourth screen in the previous post (saying sd-ext is not formatted)
On 4EXT menu, i click wipe/format -> format all partitions (except sdcard) -> see screen that says this will format everything expect fat32 partition but INCLUDING sd-ext -> click v -> click v -> left arrow -> info fourth screen again saying sd-ext not formatted
No matter how many times I read the partitioning instructions, I can't see what I'm doing wrong/not doing.
There is probably a problem with the SD memory.
Is it branded?
Does it have write protection?
Before you use it again, format it with the help of SD Memory Card Formatter, developed by Tuxer.
It's a cheap eBay unbranded sd.
I've tried a different (also unbranded) card and the results are identical.
Am currently formatting one of them with SD card Formatter.
It looks like it will take several hours to complete the format. Is this normal/correct?
