The gmail app supports multiple accounts. Use that.
Also, you can go into your gmail settings from your PC and have one of your gmail accounts access your other POP3, managing those account for you. You can even set them up with a filter with autolabeling so they stand out in your inbox, also set them up so they show the original email when you reply.
I manage 7 email addresses this way, it works perfectly if you take the time to set it up well.

Now Im totally confused .
Via web Im using one gmail account ([email protected]) which receives mails from this adress and from 3 other servers via POP3. Mails are flagged - just as you described. We are here same, but:
- when I write answer to @gmail.com - it goes with @gmail.com, one answering for some POP3 message - answering as POP3 account owner. Via website everything is OK.
Via [email protected] if I receive mails to @gmail.com or any other POP3 Im always answering with the name and account set in Gmail application. So if somebody sends me email to account which is checked by gmail via POP3 once I answer from web - looks good, answered from phone - not as I use @gmail answering profile.
How can I match those in HTC to settings from Web?
Use K9 mail available from market, it let's you set up your gmail account and send e mails from different accounts

There are two email clients on android. The gmail app and the mail app. Use the later for multiple pop accounts and gmail at the same time. You can set up as many as you want. It's all built in. The google mail app is crap imo, just switch to the HTC one

Did you ever find a solution? I have the exact same question I have a gmail account, but my main email account is a work pop3. I used to use Outlook on my desktop and k9 on my EVO, but they didn't sync. Recently I changed over to using Chrome browser and gmail at work. I set gmail to check my work POP3 account and also have it set to send outgoing mail through the work pop3 server. My default "FROM" is my work POP3 address, but I can change the "FROM" to my gmail account using the drop-down in the "fROM" field. I also have another personal POP3 that I also have gmail checking and can send from that one as well.
My problem is that I can't select the FROM address when using the gmail app on my HTC EVO. It always addresses new messages from my default account which is the work POP3.
I like the gmail integration and don't want to to back to using multiple accounts in K9.
I cannot send outgoing email when out and about, but can receive incoming email anywhere.
When back in house and wifi, outgoing email suddeny sends.
I use pop3 on ukonline, so is there some security settings not working when not on wifi in house?
Sorry to hijack this thread, but I did a search and this was only topic that returned.
Your SMTP settings will be incorrect.
I suspect that you will be using UKOnlines SMTP server for outgoing mail, which is fine when you are connected via WiFi (and hence, via their network), but will not work via Mobile Internet unless they allow authenticated access from outside their network.

Dave
As you know, we have two different email program in stock rom. "Mail" and "Gmail".
You have to be a google account for to use market and other stuffs. If you add a gmail account to your device your mails checking by "Gmail". You cannot add any POP3 account to Gmail. You should use for stock "Mail" Program for this.
It's look like to for every account we need a different mail program. It's boring and stupid idea. Yes we can add gmail acc. to stock Mail program but this solution is not good, either. Because we are using same account with different programs.
There is a mail program called K-9, we can install this and transfer all account the this program but basic problem is continuing: We must continue to use for "Gmail". We cannot remove gmail acc from this program and to use mail we need 3 different programs
I find this really unlogic.
P.S. I'm sorry for my poor English.
Don't see the issue myself, Gmail is just that, an app for gmail, if you don't want to use gmail then don't sync gmail. I use Gmail, and Mail for a hotmail and an Exchange account. You can use Mail for gmail but you won't have the full functionality of gmail.
i use k-9 since it supports push for imap
not using gmail at all. neither for desire nor at all.

Hello Yappay,
You seem a little confused. There are two main ways to access E-Mail on Android:
1. A dedicated app for a certain E-mail provider. The Gmail app on your phone is such a dedicated app, and offers decent background syncing because it's tightly integrated with the system and is configured to poll and receive push notifications for new mail in a way that's very efficient. The problem here is that these dedicated apps can only connect to their respective e-mail services: The Gmail app can only connect to Gmail, the Yahoo!Mail app can only connect to Yahoo, and so on.
2. A generic E-mail app that can connect to various E-mail providers through interfaces like IMAP or POP. The app "E-Mail" on your phone is one of these, as is K9-Mail or Maildroid. It's possible to add multiple accounts to these, including Gmail accounts, because Gmail supports both POP and IMAP.
If you really want to use only one app for all your E-mail, you can add all of your accounts to one of the programs from the second category. I'd recommend IMAP for the connection, because it keeps the server up-to-date with any changes you make to e-mails in the program (moving them to different folders, deleting e-mails etc.).
I have my work email (MS Exchange) and Gmail working fine, though through their respective programs. The default email client doesn't seem to allow for POP3 email accounts. Is there a recommendation for a pop3 email client to use with my Comcast accounts? Thanks
I know you can add POP3 email accounts to Gmail, would that be a good solution?
You can send email out as that account, with a custom signature for each account. That is what I use to manage all my email accounts (3 work accounts, 3 personal accounts, and a school email account).
I Will give it a try, thanks
Does anyone know of a good email client optimized for ICS that supports IMAP push notifications for email? I don't understand why the only push email support is GMail.
1) gmail push is not the only one. exchange is push as well.
2) i have heard k9 does, but ive never used it.
From my experience K9 uses push... I used it on Gingerbread. There was no polling option and through testing I determined that push did work. Haven't used it since upgrading to the Nexus though, the gmail app is really nice and I mainly use gmail accounts.
I use K9 email for imap idle (like push). It works well and is as fast at retrieving new emails as the push on gmail.
+1 for k9, works fine for me and has push and polling, you can tweak these settings and for any folder or sub folders to the nth degree

Just got Push Email working for 2 of my gmail accounts - the one I use to sync all my contacts/calendar/etc. and another one for just emails.
Remove the IMAP account for your gmail account. Leave the Google account, but disable email syncing on it.
Add a new Exchange (Corporate) account.
Fill in your email address @google.com and your password (app-specific password, if you're using Authenticator).
Change the exchange server from "gmail.com" to "m.google.com".
Leave all other exchange settings as-is
You'll now get push notifications using the EMail app!
Verified on my Galaxy Nexus and my Transformer Prime.
No matter where I look, I can't seem to find any one application that properly supports what I want to do...
I primarily use Gmail and Hotmail for email, and I'd like push access to both. The Gmail app supports push, but only for Gmail accounts, the stock Email app (CM9) supports ActiveSync exchange for Hotmail, but no push for Gmail. I tried K-9 mail and it supports Gmail push, but can't do ActiveSync exchange for Hotmail, forcing me to use POP3, which doesn't have push, or server sync.
Is there any single email app that will fully support both IMAP IDLE for Gmail and ActiveSync Exchange for Hotmail?
the stock mail app supports gmail push. did you try setting it up manually?

By nature microsoft exchange is the only push email. Gmail is only push with that app because it has constant data connection to google servers best thing google ever did. Hotmail or any other free emails are not push so your sol

You can set up your gmail accounts in the stock email app as exchange accounts. Just do a google search for "gmail exchange setup" for directions. Then you can set them up for push.
Edit: better yet, here's a link: http://www.mobilityminded.com/13093/how-to-set-up-your-google-gmail-account-as-a-corporate-exchange-account-on-your-mobile-device/

By default on android gmail is push no need to setup as exchange account. If your hotmail is a free account you will not be able to set it up as push no matter what you do.

Actually when Hotmail is set as an exchange server, it gets Push, free or not.
However, if I try to set up Gmail as exchange in the stock Email app, it says it's not a supported protocol.
I was in a similar shoe as OP.
Originally, I had multiple accounts pushed to the phone but learned that it's more efficient to aggregate all emails including work emails to 1 gmail acct. Gmail app will use the correct email address when I reply. And it saves battery.
Well I tried setting up Gmail as an ActiveSync exchange account and while it seems to work at first, it keeps reporting an incorrect username or password. I've verified both and even tried the Captcha auth step I've seen online and it keeps giving errors.
Add your hotmail email into your gmail settings using pop 3 and then all your hotmail will goto your gmail that's what I do fir 4 different emails

Except that POP3 can't do Push, so it won't work for my needs.
As it is right now, I get push email in the Gmail app for my Gmail address and push email in the Email app for my Hotmail account. I saw that Gmail can be used as an ActiveSync exchange account like Hotmail can, so my hope is to just use the Email app for both accounts.
Can you do with yahoo? Would love to have my gmail and yahoo!

It looks like it worked, I now have Gmail set as an exchange server in the stock Email app, along with Hotmail, both getting Push and server sync.

It only pushes to the gmail app. If you set up a gmail account on the stock email app, it will set it up through imap, but the app doesn't support imap idle push.
Google set up the exchange sync to deal with the iPhone, which doesn't support imap push either.

So, just to make sure we have everyone doing the same thing:
How to set up a gmail account for Exchange push:
(I am using CM9, Android 4.0.4, so the steps may be slightly different on a different rom. However, I have had thbis set-up work on stock Android 2.2 and 2.3)
Go to seetings> accounts and sync
Select add new
Select Corporate/Exchange
Enter your gmail address and password
Select next
Your phone will attempt an automatic setup. This may take a little while.
On the next screen, on the line that says domain/username enter:
gmail.com/[your username]
Now this is the most important step that gets missed most often. Ont the line that says server enter:
m.google.com
Notice that says google, not gmail.
Select next, and choose your other various preferences.
To make sure your email is set to push, go to settings for that account, and under data usage and email check frequency, select push.
