I bought the Telstra version and wiped it with the Generic HTC ROM. Works a treat.

Where did you guys buy your Telsta models from?
Thanks

I wonder why they Aussie models are so much more expensive.
(and why do the specs in that link show euro specs?)

Flashing HTC Hero European version Radio

Hi, I have a HTC Hero Eureopean version that I bought in Canada before Telus announce that Hero was comming to Telus. I was able yesterday to downgrade to version RUU 2.73.405.5 using the Gold Card method. Works fine
Now I was wondering is there a way to flash the radio of the european version with the one for the US and Canada so I can get 3G data transfer instead of old EDGE. I already set up the APN with Rogers and works ok on EDGE (for now)
I read a bit on the forum and there so much thread that I'm a bit confused. I'm kinda new to all this so please excuse me if this already beed discuss somewhere else.
I,m still reading and getting really excited about the androis platform and everything.
Thanks guys (and girls)
If you cant do it with your goldcard, You'll need to route your device, then do it with flashrec or sumat theres a few guides in the hero section

02 UK Deisre abroad will it update to 2.2

as per subject
My Desire was bought from O2, so has it's firmware.
I'm moving abroad next month, will I still get an update to 2.2 ?
I won't be using O2.. will that stop me ?
Would I be better flashing it with a generic rom ?
Thanks

It's about choice...
Why you need flashing? if you Desire daily usage for Phone, SMS, Chat and Check Email and little bit Browse the net.. I think wait until official release for Desire much better than Rooted/Flashing your phone
Thanks for the reply.
I'd prefer not to flash or root it if I can help it.
The question really is will a UK O2 Desire automatically upgrade to 2.2 if used in New Zealand, with Vodafone ?
Thanks
Probably not. My understanding is that receiving updates is dependent on your current version. I'm on Meteor in Ireland, for example, but I won't receive any specific Meteor updates, because I have the generic HTC firmware.
So if you're on a kiwi network, with the O2 software, you'll get neither the HTC update nor any update your new network rolls out.
So either debrand now and get the HTC update whenever it's released, or wait until it comes out and flash the 2.2 rom directly.
One other thing you could do is take it to Vodafone in New Zealand and ask them to flash their own software on it. Since you're a new customer, they'll most likely oblige.
But that's if they even stock the Desire, btw. If they don't you'll have to do it yourself.
One thing to keep in mind re:carrier specific firmwares is that it may take an awfully long time for upgrades to trickle down. You could be looking at an additional month or more between HTC releasing it and your carrier releasing it.
And even when they do, they might disable certain features (wi-fi tethering, for example, isn't too popular with mobile operators)
Thanks
that is what I'd thought..
I suppose the only other thing would be if O2 released it for download, then I could manually install it !!
Are there still issues with wifi and the generic rom ?
Yeah, that's another way. Bookmark this link:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bravo/
The only issues were with people who people who debranded their phone and flashed to the generic rom. But for anybody else, there's no issues whatsoever.
Thanks
If I change the ROM is there any risk ? I'm not bothered about root, but would like to have the option of 2.2 when I'm not in the UK.
can you point me to a firmware flashing guide ?
Thanks again.
Well this is the latest (generic) rom update:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=684259
Very easy to install. Just download the .exe to your PC, and open it while your phone is plugged in. The installer will walk you through.
I don't know if it's that simple for branded phones though. You might have to debrand first... I honestly couldn't say. You might ask in that thread and list your FW number. Maybe somebody else will know.
You're sure it's a branded phone, yes? There's no .405 in the version number?
My firmware is : 1.20.207.3 CL171460 release-keys
I'll ask in the other forum.
Thanks

You flashed your device with Nodo update?

So is this leaked ? Yes ! Has anyone actually done it?
I wrote something about it... on here
The ROM contain a final unbranded RTM build of “NoDo” ready to be flashed to devices. The latest leak is a HTC 7 Pro ROM for European devices. WPCentral sends news that Windows Phone enthusiasts at XDA-developers posted a ROM image the HTC 7 Pro on Wednesday. The ROM upgrades the device to the final version of “NoDo” ahead of Microsoft’s release. The site has also previously supplied ROMs for the HTC 7 Mozart, HTC HD7 and HTC 7 Trophy. All leaked ROMs are unbranded European versions, which do not include carrier customizations. Owners wishing to flash the leak updates will need to use a “Gold Card” method to bypass a “VENDER ID” error. Some users have reported success by flashing original carrier ROMs and then simply switching out the raw update file. The process is not ideal for the average user but those wishing to pursue unofficial methods can find the links above. Download link (this yet has not been tested)
thats almost the right way to promote your site, now you only need a real url
and yes we did it, all we need now is some developer/side-load unlock
Yes
Hi markomarkogame
Yes, I have done it. I have flashed the Orange UK 1.30 ROM to my Orange UK HTC 7 Mozart. It flashed without the need for anything complicated such as a gold card.
I haven't done much with the phone yet but it does seem slightly smoother in terms of the animations. Also it has copy and paste and differentiated marketplace search.
Cheers

Hi markomarkogame
Which model do you have? Is it the Orange UK branded Mozart? If so, I suggest you flash one of the older Orange UK ROMs on the HTC 7 Mozart Windows Phone Development forum.

I would check the HTC-HD7 forums, but from what I gathered it does. Any unbranded HTC phone should be able to run this update. Of course, you could just unbrand your phone now and wait. According to microsoft unbranded phones should receive the update soon...

[Q] m8 verizon convert to HTC Europe

Hello!

Sorry to ask this like a month later, but I had a similar question as the OP. Why wouldn't it be possible if I only wanted to use my phone in Europe on the GSM bands? I've been using it with a ROM for the international phones and it works fine. But I was also wondering if I could flash the newest firmware and 4.4.3 upgrade to use some of the newer ROMs for the international versions, like ARHD 10.2.

HI! Can you give me more details? I've just received the verizon variant (bought from an online store) in Europe.. I would like to "convert" it to international version so I could get official updates from HTC via OTA. IS that possible?

I don't think you can convert it over to the international edition, although I could be wrong, since some of the partitions, firmware, and actual hardware (like the CDMA receiver) are different. Given how buggy just some of the ROMs are with the int'l kernel built in, I would be worried about bricking the phone trying to actually convert it to be able to receive OTAs.
What you can do check out some of the ROMs that let you pick which variant to install. After you boot that up once, you'll probably need to reflash the stock VZW kernel (or read around and see if Verizon users got other kernels to work with the ROM). It's kind of trial and error. A lot of times I ended up without wifi or service until I found a kernel that worked.
For updates, (this part sucks) you'll have to wait for the Verizon phones to receive them in the US. Someone usually makes a set a files you can flash since we can't get the OTAs for VZW here and a lot of people don't want to go through the hassle of going back to close to stock to get them. Make a backup, flash those, and go on your way!
But, you'll have to follow the updates and such for VZW phones and then just use a ROM to make it like an int'l versions.
I've been running the int'l version of Paranoid Android and before that ARHD and it's been fine. I used venom and I think n8 before that but it would only install the VZW version so I had to use ROM Cleaner and take out a lot of crap. The roaming triangles were annoying enough that I gave up on venom even though I like the ROM.

THanks for the reply. I think I will return it back.. I wanted a stock experience (eg: when HTC launch an update I DONT Need to wait for verizon to release an update).
I paid lots of money (~700$) for a contract free phone and got a branded phone (not sim-locked by branded is enough) . What a sh*t situation.

Oh God, I assumed you got a Verizon one because it was cheap. I picked mine up in the US for $150 so I don't care so much about having to wait since I saved so much money. If you paid full price I would definitely return it and get an int'l one instead!

Nope, the problem is that I wanted the 32 GB version and most of the online shops had only the 16 GB one. Maybe there is no international 32gb htc one m8..
PS: the retailer's product page (cel.ro) doesn't say anything regarding branding, even the photos are of a htc one m8 unbranded phone.
I am a bit late here. Can i flash a European custom rom on verizon M8? I want to completely get rid of verizon bloatware/services . If yes then while installing custom rom in aroma can i select WWE instead of verizon?? Summary of my question is can i use a WWE European custom rom on version M8??

You should only use custom ROMs that specifically support the Verizon variant. If the option is given in AROMA for carrier version (and VZN is one of those), its got nothing to do with what carrier/region you are located in, but refers to the version M8 you have, which is still Verizon. But you should check the specific ROM thread for details, comments by VZN version users, etc. as devs don't always setup AROMA the same way.
This thread is really old (almost 2 years) and we know a lot more now. FYI, I know its not what you specifically asked, but the topic of the thread is converting to Euro version by flashing firmware, RUU etc. And quite simply and frankly, do not attempt to flash Euro firmware, RUU, or change the CID/MID to do so. Flashing Euro firmware on the VZN variant will result in a radio brick, and the damage may be permanent!

Three UK (H3G) Super Voice aka VoLTE on Unlocked HTC10

Hi,
I've got an unlocked HTC 10 I bought form Carphone Warehouse. I've been wanting to try out Three's Super Voice (VoLTE) because I've heard it improves signal, but have been told it only works at the moment on HTC 10s bought directly from Three (H3G). Is there any way to get Super Voice working on my phone? It has CID HTC001, but I don't mind changing that, or trying a Rom if it will get this working for me.
Thanks!

You can S-OFF and flash the US RUU or can find the H3G firmware. US firmware has VOLTE and Wifi calling features.
can you update if thus worked for you, I am on vodafone UK, and it has wifi calling for iphone and galaxy, i wanted to try it on my unlocked HTC 10 with CID HTC _001
Haven't had a chance to try yet. Will update this thread when I do

Hello, today I tried this myself. S-OFFed device, changed CID and MID and flashed USA RUU but unfortunately I couldn't get VOLTE working on my device. I switched from Taiwan variant.
I apologize for the misleading post above.
