Hey every1!
I'm new to the android world and it seems quite big!!
i saw that the 2.2.1 update has been released a while ago but i didn't get anything yet!
i go to Setting > About Phone > System Software Updates tap on Check now and it says (There are no updates available for your phone)
Any help would be really appreciated!
10x
The update has apparently been pulled, it caused more problems than it solved.

Wait are you serious?!
That sucks!!!! hehe
10x alot anyway!
I'm always serious.
A new update should be available soon. HTC are aware they made a booboo.
You can always do it manually using an ruu from shipped roms

I still unable to update it via RUU. Is there any other way to upgrade it? My phone is not rooted and I don't plan to root it.
Update was removed.

Is this abnormal for HTC? Or do they have a bad track record of this on their phones?

Strange because i have 2.2.1 still installed..

HTC won't remove the update from your DHD if you installed it.

They removed it from their update system, so anyone who wish to update now will not be able to.

Thats a shame!!
It was 1 step down for HTC!!!
Removing an update for the big amount of problems it has is just .. not good specially for Customers and their Reputation!!
Does anyone have an idea of the release date of the next update?

Probably its buggy.
The update fixed some small things (better camera performance, optimisations), and fixed the initial root exploit.
However, it also created some unexpected bugs and in some cases (quite a lot actually) it also has corrupted sd cards.
I have had a call with HTC ref. the sd card and this will be likely replaced by another sd card, however, the guy I spoke with confirmed the update (for this and the other reasons) has been pulled and a new update would be released shortly.
Once you have the update, it is their to stay....unless....downgrade, root, etc...
Hi everyone, my girlfriend has a Desire on Telus and she keeps getting low space warning. I poked around through Astro but couldn't find anything to delete. She has all apps installed to SD that support it. Is this just product of the environment, small internal memory?
I'm sure there is a way to cure this with a little hackery, and if it were mine it would be no problem but she is weary of that sort of thing.
Any suggestions would be great. Maybe an app for managing space more suited for these phones.
Thanks.

unfortunately that's the problem with the desire.
you'll need to update to a rom that supports apps2sd+ or data2sd which essentially lets the phone use part of your sd card as internal memory
That's the impression I was getting looking at the custom ROMs. Thanks anyway.

Starburst is android 2.2 or the same dev has supernova android 2.3
The choice is your's am using 2.3 and have 2GB internal memory, have lots off app's and still 1.2GB left.
Small internal memory is a known desire problem. Data2sd will solve your girlfriend's storage problems. Imho starburst, supernova and miui (d2ext x-part version) are recommended. You could also change partition layout (hboot), but this is much riskier than flashing one of the named roms.
Thanks for the suggestions guys! If it were mine it would already be done, but it's not. I will talk to her and see if I can convince her.
How sensitive is the Desire to flashing? Are there any major issues I should read up on first? Of course I will do some homework but a heads up would be great.
Thanks again, I'll check back often.

Root using unrevoked3 http://unrevoked.com/recovery/
And flashing RoMs is very safe, has long has you do a nand backup, this just like installing windows.
For 2.3 RoM a new radio is recommended this is risky, but ive had no problem's and ive updated radio 4 time's.
They is load's of topics for first timer's on here just have a good read.

The problem with that not all the file is moved, like app2sd+ 20mb file 15mb to sd 5 still on internal, you'll soon use that 150mb.
Thanks so much guys for the information and suggestions. She is debating the matter so in the meantime I'll have to do some serious studying on flashing this phone. It is much more complicated than flashing the Galaxy S.
She should have took my advice and got a Desire HD after her first Desire was stolen.

rooting sounds really scary but is actually very simple, you just need to post what your current hboot setup is, from powered off press vol down and press power. let us no what your hboot version is. because if its the new 1.06 there is no way to root yet.

Took a quick look at the videos and it seems pretty straightforward. Allot more work than I'm used to but nothing I can't handle. Too bad you can't boot from a clone drive in windows.

Hi guys, been quite a while since I started this thread but finally this past weekend had the time to get started on fixing the wife's Desire.
Got it rooted with unrevoked after much frustration. I finally found a post that recommend uninstalling a few apps to stop getting the failure error and it worked like a charm. Not before I read another post that recommend using linux because of issues with win 64 bit. I happened to have a copy of zorin os on my desk so I now have that to play with when I get home on Friday. :-D
Shot a thanks to all you who helped, wish me luck when I attempt to flash a custom ROM to her phone this weekend.
I think I might get her a new one for Christmas.

anyone know how to fix this..???
i have tried many times flash new rom.. still same..
i hope u see the different..
It's a hardware issue. Many DHDs have it.
There is nothing you can do with Roms or other software updates

You just haven't noticed it before. There is no possibility to push the screen to the side with rooting...
Or you dropped it after rooting.

I think you only noticed it after you rooted, it seems to be a common hardware issue with DHD's. If the screen is badly skew maybe HTC will try to repair or give you a replacement, just remember to un-root before you take it in.
Same problem flashing the same ROM
I have the same issue
I flashed yesterday night the last version of RCMix3D_Runny_v1.3,and when it boot, the touch screen was no responsive....I've tried everything (downgrade, factory reset, change Rom,restore a previous Rom with CWM,ENG S-ON,flash another Recovery.img),and my touch screen is dead...
Its not a proximity sensor issue, because the screen stays on 1 minute, then,it turns off.The phone receives te phone calls, notification, the sound is working, but no way to unlock the screen...
I thing is a hardware issue, but very, very strange the casuality: other phone with touchscreen issue after flashing the same ROM...
If anybody can help me,please,do it...I am desperate....
By the way,how can I flash a RUU Rom ? Is there any tutorial, where can I find a RUU Rom ?
Thanks to everyone who can help !!!!!!!!!
Sorry for my bad english
Flashing has nothing to do with it. It's been there the whole time. You are just now noticing it. I had my screen fixed under defect warranty. It's now perfect. Here is a link from XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=958069 And here is one from another forum: http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-support-troubleshooting/279651-screen-misaligned.html

Hi guys, my desire has been rooted and was running fruit burst. Every now and then it would crash leaving the "HTC quietly brilliant" permanently on, which to get round i just removed the battery and turn back on (i could live with that).
Any way this afternoon i was just using it as normal, put it back in my pocket and thought nothing of it. Got it back out and it was switched off. Switched it back on and it comes up with the white screen with the green HTC writing, the just keeps doing that over and over again.
Any ideas?
Nope, this problem is completely unfixable and has not been fixed multiple times, and there is no listed guides that can help you due to it's complication. You now need to defenestrate your phone and acquire a new one.

There's a guided STICKIED on the Q&A forum which fixed this problem almost directly. Not only that, it is now also linked on this thread (twice). Not to mention, this works wonders..
There could be a number of reasons why that is happening:
1) sd card has broke
2) stuck in a bootloop (run adb logcat).
Can you access recovery/hboot?

Hi Guys, thanks for you help ( some of you (-; ). I got the phone sorted (guy who falshed it, talked me through). Anyway, since this post i have played with a good 3 or 4 roms, problem is i want something which looks nice but is practical with the battery.
I am currently on AceSMod007-lite v14, but the battery life is shocking. Any ideas to something better?

Use AOSP ROMs for better battery life and performance. Try CM7 and see if it improves.

Hi Fosk,
right now i am using this custom ROM and I am pretty happy with it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531218
But I got a big problem: Every time I am using the camera (only with flash) the phone reboots/ shuts down. I think this is not a problem with the rom, I have tried a couple of roms and it happens all the time. Could it be the kernel??? Has someone an idea??
Thank you all!!!

Yeah, definitely try a new battery. I had the exact same problem with mine a while back where it would just totally restart the phone if I took a picture with the flash enabled and sure enough a new battery solved that issue.
I had this issue and flashing a custom rom fixed it
