I have two mail accounts setup in HTC Mail i.e., Yahoo & Hotmail. They work fine, however, I was wondering, is it not possible to have all mail shown together in the HTC Application i.e., both yahoo and hotmail mails to appear in a single HTC Mail widget? Currently I have to launch mail application and then click more> accountlists > and then choose account.
Thanks
I think not, but maybe with some other widget?

Exciting files to download there. can you explain what each of them exactly do? (Any of them useful for Orange branded Desire?)
Thanks a lot.
email.apk is not just as easy to install as a.cab for WM right ?
I have File Manager at my Desire, what is best way to install the email.apk ?
Astro will be able to install it for you.

Hi, anyone know if its possible to replace sense email with the stock email app?
Reason is using exchange with the sense one enabled security for the phone, meaning I need a password to unlock which is stupid. I understand needing security but why not just lock that email account rather than the whole phone!
Anyway the email app on my Nexus One doesn't have this issue, anyone know how I can pull the email apk out and replace the sense on?
Thanks
There is an alternative. There is an app available for free on the market place which removes that password prompt. I can't remember the name of it but search this forum as it's been mentioned before.
you can't replace it yet, but you can certainly install the stock one. I have it hosted on my webspace

EDIT: forgot to say, remember that this will not work with the HTC Sense mail widget.
great. Would be even better if it could handle attachments. Is it possible that the quickoffice and pdf viewer are tied to htc sense and not to native android?

Lockpicker, from the market (developed by one of the forum members, iirc) will disable the password prompt, as mentioned in another reply. I use it and it works a treat.

I used this mail.apk on my HTC Droid Incredible and it works perfectly.
HTC stock Sense Mail client does not bring in any of my emails, at least not for my company on IMAP settings.
Hi all,
I applied this application to HTC Sprint EVO none-rooted with stock Android 2.1 and it works.
This stock email.apk allowed me to resolve problem with HTC Mail for Android Version 2.00.0037.195459 not having "allow all certificates" option required to be able to Active Sync if you use self-signed certificate.
However, this version does not seem to support Exchange Calendar.
Does anybody have newest email.apk from Android 2.2 which works on 2.1 ?
They claim support for Calendar and GAL, but I don't want to upgrade to 2.2 just to get email app upgraded.
Regards
Ivan

I guess nobody seems to care but I've searched almost the whole day for a solution but coulnd't find any or am I the only one who sends email with attachments other than pictures, video or audio etc ?
The big problem is the predefined set of file types you can attach to an email. This in both the HTC Email application and the Gmail application.
When you want to add an attachment to an email, you can only choose pictures, video's, audio, app share, location and document. What if I want to attach a .zip file or multiple zip files at once. No way you can do that. The only solution I found was a program called File Sender but this one only works for the Gmail application, whereas I'm an Exchange Active Sync user.
When started, the File Sender application opens a tiny file explorer in which you can choose the file you want to attach to an email. I want the same functionality in the stock HTC Email application. And no I don't want to buy 3rd party Exchange email clients. Any one with a solution or any one who can develop a mod/program/hack or whatever to bring this functionality to Android ? It would be nice to select multiple files at once no matter what kind of file type.
Thanks....
There are many apps that can solve your problem. For example install Blackmoon File Browser and you can attach any file in Gmail.
You can always change the extension of a .zip file to .jpg or similar and tell your recipient to change it back, saves you doing anything

Thanks, but for Gmail there are solutions but I'm an Exchange user so I use the stock HTC Email application and NOT the Gmail app. For HTC email app there are only paid apps which can handle attachments as it should be.
Try a file manager, I've got Astro and I can send with that through Gmail or the Mail app but I'm not sure about your exchange account.

the htc mail client is made to function with a sense enabled rom w/ sense features. cm6 is not sense in anyway and usually any htc apps will result is a fc everytime you try to open it. try mail droid or something.
OK so what is the advantage of running CM6 over say vael or baked?

The latter 2 are still Sense Roms. Vael just strip all (most) of the Sense. There is no way now to get the HTC mail program to work with CM6(I know as I have tried multiple times). Your best bet is try K-9 mail (which is great). Or you need go back to a Sense Rom. All the Roms are Sense except CM6 and SuperEVO. Be aware that some of these Roms does not have the HTC mail program anymore, but since they are Sense Rom all you do is find the HTC mail.apk and install it.

Does k-9 work with exchange? I tried setting it up giving me errors.
Also is it still push email ?
I never tried it with exchange so I am not qualify to answer that. It doesn't do push email yet but neither does the android email or the htc mail. All of them are timed polling. The only one that does push email is the stock gmail app. I email myself and gmail is almost instant but of course it doesn't help if you have other email accounts. For me its the best option right now. Its free so can't hurt to try it out.

Just FYI, Both stock and htc mail will do push email on exchange.
K9 does Push email, if you're connected to an IMAP server that supports the IDLE extension.
Morning all...
So then, I'm still playing with my phones setup having had it for a month....
My main gripe is the lack of internal memory but thats another issue!
So then, I use Windows Live for all my personal stuff (contacts, calendar, and email) and want it to remain that way. I have tried using the official hotmail app however when I used that it used too much internal memory and the phone as a whole suffered.... So I would rather use the integrated android email solution. This works fine for everything when set up as an activesync account bar one thing. When you delete an email it will reappear on the next sync.
I currently get around this buy moving messages I want deleted to the trash box manually (Menu -> move -> Trash). Has anyone found a solution/fix to get the delete button working when syncing with hotmail!?!?
I'm used to Windows Mobile 6.5 so my thinking is that it shouldn't be too hard an issue to resolve... but I have no experience with Android yet! Any suggestions welcome!
Thanks all
Use standard mail app. See the thread of miui it includes link from me. Works great, Hotmail with puch and contact and calendar sync.

Should have mentioned... I am S-ON with the original o2 ROM....
So despite this....
If I download and use that mail.apk
it will overwrite the mail.apk installed on the device and resolve the deleting problem!
yes?
No it's just another app. I'm s-on too. Only allow to install non market apps
Sent from my HTC Superfire S
ok... but the app allows full integration with the htc sense functions?
Does it have a widget to display emails etc?
Does Contact linking work like normal ?
sorry for all the qs!
Works all but no sense widget. It's mail app from cm7

Is anyone else running this ROM and having trouble syncing their contacts? I have the latest Facebook app installed and running smoothly but when I go to add a Facebook account (settings > accounts and sync > add account > Facebook) it acts like a broken link.
It does state in the ROM thread that media apps were removed. Could that be the cause (lack of Sense for Facebook)?
I'm a Desire HD user myself but the Wildfire Facebook app doesn't seem to have the same contact sync options within the app itself.
Any help gratefully received.
have you downloaded the FB app from the market?
Yes. I had originally restored it via Titanium Backup but when I encountered this problem I uninstalled and grabbed it directly from the market. Didn't make any difference.
and everything else syncs fine?
Yes. I've not had a problem syncing anything else although Facebook is the only 'media' app installed. Other items that sync (google contacts / hotmail) have no problems.
I'm not very familiar with sense. What app does it use to sync Facebook contacts? Does it just use the Facebook app (like in AOSP roms) or is there a sense-based app that runs in the background?
There's a couple of apps, friendstream.apk and friendstreamwidget.apk I'm not sure if you need both pushed to the /system/app folder or if theres anymore things needed, im pretty sure I've seen a Facebook for htc sense before too. Best bet is to download a full sense Rom and compare then steal the apps you require and push them to there relevant folders.

When u press sync it will start the sync adapter for facebook. Probably something like
com.facebook.android
I don't sync my fb contacts because there are too many so am not willing to test this so if anyone could confirm that would be great.
If you load up your fb app, can you just log in? this will sometimes add the account to the phone.
Also, try clearing data and cache from app manager in settings, uninstalling then re-installing

Thanks for the suggestions Scratch. I'll have to s-off the wildfire for that so I'll give it a crack tomorrow.
I've tried everything short of the [extreme] action suggested by Scratch Arkoze. Will let you know how it all goes.
Hi,there is a workaround via unzipping rom and copy, paste apps required if you don't fancy s-offing.

Think there might be another one called social network provider which might be needed ???
"sent from me2u"
Ok, so I took the good advice given to me by slymobi and Scratch and added:
com.htc.FriendStreamWidget.apk
Friendstream.apk
HtcFacebook.apk
SocialNetworkProvider.apk
from a different ROM (REMPuzzle) into the /system/app folder of the kwbr 2.0 zip, reflashed and viola, the sense/facebook syncing seems to be up and running.
Thanks everyone.

from what I understand, you only need to have com.htc.FriendStreamWidget.apk if you have a widget set on screen, I believe it does not affect the Friendstream.apk but I may be wrong if someone can clarify?
