I just used the usb adapter for the first time today and when I plug the usb cable into the phone the adapter makes this high-pitch frequency sound. It's similar to the mosquito ringtone that teens love so much. It stops when the phone is done charging. Does anybody else have this problem?
I noticed this yesterday, but it was only when the Incredible was fully charged.
I'm cycling the battery right now, so when I plug it in again...I'll get back to this thread.

Everytime I plug my Fresh 3.5.0.1 Evo into either my car charger or my playstation energizer charging station using USB rocketfish cable, it starts to charge for like two seconds. Then it stops. The lightning bolt shows up and then goes away. Any thoughts? Is this just a kernel issue? Is there a fix for this? Anyone else had this issue at all?
For the car charger, is either your cable or not plugged in secure? And the playstation has to be on for it to charge, not like the 360 where it can charge a device while its off.
Not a connection issue
This not a physical connection issue. For some reason my phone stop recognizing that it is plugged in. I can unplug the charger from USB/Lighter while still leaving it plugged into the phone and if I do it over and over it seems to except it after a while.
I heard from someone that this might be a kernel issue, is anyone familiar with kernel issues that cause a phone to think it is not plugged in?
I noticed that my Nexus charger makes noise when it's in the wall with my phone unplugged.
The sqeaky sound goes away when i plug in my phone.
Is anybody else experiencing this?
I'm going back to the store tomorrow for a replacement.

You actually ever came across a charger that never does any noise?

well, every charger i had was silent or at least never make a big noise like the cheap samsung one..a little noise can be normal for a charger, but hey the samsung one does a very high frequency noise..
never happened with other charger, because usually it is plugged near my bed..the first night i plugged the samsung charger i noticed it soon..
anyway it seems to happen with about every samsung wall traver charger of every phone..btw i "solved" by just plug the charger when i have to charge the phone..
I have the exact same issue. I have a socket with an on/off switch on my night stand table that I switch on/off when I need to use the charger. It's mostly to get rid of the high pitched noise though. And yes it disappears when you plug your phone in.
Mine even makes a 'discharging' squeak noise when I pull it right out of the wall socket after letting it squeak for a while. It's probably the capacitors inside charging/discharging. No harm, but annoying.

I have noticed today, after a week of having the HOX, that when the phone is plugged in to charge, it always shows as USB within the power screen, even if its using the supplied charger at the wall.
When I plug in a BlackBerry charger I have, then it switches to AC.
Is this normal?

That does NOT seem normal. are you using the same wall plug to charge when using BB cable? if so, something wrong with your HOX charging cable.
yea this doesnt sound normal to me. when im charging with AC, nothing except the red led is showing up.
Thanks for replies,
The BB charger is a solid BB charger, no disconnecting cables from the wall unit.
Just plugged my HOX into my PC and I get USB device not recognised. I'm starting to think the supplied cable is faulty which is also leading to my charging issue.
What do you think?
Pre-purchase Questions
Hi,
I'm thinking of buying the HTC One X (International), it represents a significant investment on my part so I want to ensure that I don't end up regretting spending my $500 on this device. I have seen a number of users complain of poor battery timing and weak wifi connection. I would like to ask guys who are already using it for their opinion, would you recommend buying it? Are you content with your phone's performance? Should I pitch in some more and buy the SIII instead?
I'll appreciate the feedback.
Regards,
Not so much a problem as much as a "Does this happen to you too?".
I recently bought a Y adapter with a female micro USB charging port, male micro USB plug, and OTG USB type A port. I notice that while it doesn't explicitly show that it's charging, the battery level never drops, but no charging indicator in the top right shows up. I know it's charging because it should be dead by now and the only way I know is if I go to the battery settings and see that it says the length of time it was last on battery power. Otherwise, no charging noise, no battery indicator.
Not a problem because it's not causing any huge inconvenience. Alarm still works, still wakes up from sleep when power button is tapped. But no daydream clock screen saver. Oh well. I do have to unlock every time it sleeps though (unless there's a video playing, then it just goes straight to the paused video).

Are you using any other devices with the OTG? keyboard, usb drive...
Hi, are you on a custom rom?
Because some kernels don't display the orange charging led at the power button.

Well, as yet I haven't received my keyboard-case in the mail so no keyboard, but I'm using a mouse. Same deal.

Shoot, forgot to say I'm using Cyanogenmod 11-20140406-NIGHTLY-otter. It does show the orange light with just the charger, but seeing as I have it plugged in most times I haven't seen that yet with the OTG cable. I'll run some power down and plug in the Y-cable and see.
what is the chargers amp rating? will be like 700ma, 1000ma, or .7a, ...

It's the Kindle Fire's own 1.8A charger. Maybe a 2A iPhone rated charger would do better? It seems I've solved it, but it's not 100% solved. Apparently an unpowered USB hub makes the difference. Right now I have the keyboard/case (got it today), a wireless mouse and game pad plugged in and the tablet is charging properly, even the charging notification plays. So, maybe the inconsistency is the charger's amperage?
Weirdly enough, the keyboard works without external power like many people have said it only works. So... Strange keyboard voodoo? I dunno.
I notice now that when I plug in the whole thing when the tablet is completely off and have the devices plugged in from the beginning it charges normally. Yeah, I think it may be the amperage. Thanks, guys! I'm going to buy a multi amp USB outlet charger to solve this (I need one anyway for other purposes).
So here's my issue: I have an extra battery kit, and lately I have noticed that, when a battery is charging, after a while, the craddle would go from a steady red light to a flashing orange light. Upon inspection, there's a ticking sound coming from the wall charger.
Do you think I need to replace it?
Here's the audio
P.S. The sound you hear is with the charger not plugged in
bump
Well.. With any hardware issue. If you try a different wall charger does the same thing happen?
