Can anyone tell my how much RAM memory is shown in apps (like Free Memory, Smart Monitor...) which are reading the amount of RAM?
Every app in my phone is detecting 398 MB of total RAM memory.
I am asking this, because mobile provider in Serbia told me that they are selling Desire`s with 448 MB RAM (and that HTC sold them those phones for Serbian market). Their site also says 448 MB:

Can anyone tell me this, please. Its only a minut of your time.

Hi,
a short question, maybe someone has compared several ROMs?
Which 6.5 (cooked) ROM has the largest free memory?
DarkVisions?
Free RAM: between 27 and over 30MB.
Free storage: 45MB.
RevROMv7?
New NastarV6.9H?
[UltraLite] Storage 72 mb free, memory around 24-26 free at fresh start
Who has more?
thank you.
good ram
Bare Bones +QueROM B3 .23004 Ultra Vanilla
60MB Storage (LZX Compr)
28MB Ram memory
From what I have seen its DarkVisions final ROM...
I purchased the desire for the high spec, question
how much memory should you have free for programs .. ive done a hard reset and only have around 130mb of program memory free
when you read the spec its
ROM: 512 MB
RAM: 576 MB
where is the rest of the space ???
anyone got higher program memory ??? can this be changed ??
mind you i still have 40+ mb left with shed loads of programs but would like higher
superb phone though
I have the Galaxy S3 SGH-L710 (Virgin Mobile)
I used the CPU-Z app to view the hardware info.
CPU-Z reported that my Ram memory is 1.57 GB (1579 MB)
This model phone is suppose to have 2 GB of memory.
Just wandering if it's an indication of bad memory, or a software glitch or if it's something else.
Can anyone with same model post here and let me know what you get.
See if you have same reading as me. Thanks.
I believe some RAM is allocated to system files on boot so that the phone can start up. Also, the amount of physical space on a chip is different than the space a system can use. For instance any flash drive you get that is advertised as having 16 GB of space, actually has about ~14-15 GB, because they say that it has 1.6 billion bytes (or whatever the number is), but there are 1024 kb in 1 MB, and 1024 MB in 1 GB, plus the space needed for driver files lowers the total amount of space available to what you see. So all of that is probably what amounts to what you're seeing, I'm not an expert nor am I a developer, but I've looked into these things a bit.
Plus, you could just google search "why is my phone's ram less than it's supposed to be" and get a clearer answer!
Thanks for your response. That explains things.
Hi,
What is the current situation on the amount of free RAM available in the 2GB version of this phone? Does it still have only around 500MB available after cleaning the RAM, or has this been improved by software updates?
I'm thinking about getting the 2GB RAM version of the G3, but I'm concerned about the amount of RAM that's actually usable on this device for apps, and not system related stuff. I have read in previous threads that there is only around 500 MB of free RAM available on this phone after rebooting, which would be unacceptable for me as much older devices such as the Note 2 and the Nexus 5 have about 1.3GB RAM available for apps. Even my 3 year old Galaxy S3 has 300MB and it constantly gives me issues by closing apps while I'm multitasking and I don't want to relive that with the next phone.
Don't give me the "free ram is wasted ram" speech as I do intend on keeping the RAM full, but with apps that matter to me and my multitasking.
Thanks.
Bump. So the question is: how much RAM do you have free after clearing it on the latest firmware?

With greenify I have around 800mb free ram after reboot
Phone has been on for about 12 hours, I just closed all apps and I have around 600mb free.
On my rooted D855 running 10H, I usually have 450-500MB of RAM free (without me killing anything or using any greenify apps or such). I find even with "only" 2GB of RAM, my G3 can handle all the multitasking I throw at it. I don't find myself wishing that my phone had more RAM. It's not something to get too worried over.
VS985 here. Probably not the info you're looking for as my model comes with 3GB, but immediately after clearing RAM I had 1.2GB available. However, I've noticed over the past 9 days of owning this device I'm usually hovering between 500MB-800MB of free RAM after using it (and many different apps) for an extended period of time.
Hi,
My phone shows specification as 1 gb ram, and when i open app manager, it shows as total 750 mb of which approx 100-150 mb is free(which has cached processes).
However, as per my knowledge the os should be consuming space in ram, but the fixed 250 mb shouldnt be removed from total ram as far as my knowledge.
So is this some kind of config error or is this accurate? pls help me shed me some light on the matter,
- Hardik

This is normal. Only around 750MB RAM is usable. The rest is SYSTEM reserved RAM, which we can never use. And even of those 750MB, much is used to run necessary system applications to get your ROM going. The amount left for actual user apps is way lower. Perhaps only in the 300MB range.
Uodate with more screenshot
I took a screenshot from a Micromax Phone having 1 gb ram, and one from my galaxy nexus, which also has 1 gb ram,
the galaxy nexus total is 750 snd micromax is 966 mb, i think there is problem in my galaxy nexus ramdisk
