Hi all,
This forum being the greatest about HTC, I think you guys will have the answer :
I would like to use my TyTN to connect to the console of a router (using serial connection) :
1. Does anyone know where I could find a miniUSB-DB9 adapter ?
2. Will there be a driver for serial port, or is it natively managed with COM ?
Such cables exist but for PC, but not miniUSB and with a Windows driver, no info about the same thing for PocketPC.
Anyone knows ?
Thanks

DELETED Message where I thought I found it..
Understood the problem..
Hi all,
AFAI understood I cannot find a solution due to the lack of USB Host support in the TyTN. I still wonder if the port can be used in direct low level serial mode as you see in bootloader. Could WinMobile use it ?
Another way would be to have a device that would be usb host, putting the phone into slave mode, but maybe I dream...
Thanks for any reply..
there is a bluetooth to serial adaptor which has been reported to work with the tytn.
COM1
Hi,
After much googleing there's still hope. Windows Mobile presents a COM port : 'COM1 via cable' and in the specs of the TyTN there is RS232 communication.
I still cannot figure out if the miniUSB connector pins could be simply mapped to the corresponding RS232 signals. Probably not
Anyway I flashed the XDA-Live wm6 ROM and it's great ! the battery seem to last longer (still 70% after 2 days!)
Thanks to the xda-dev community
I have just got an Orange SPV M5000 but it didn't come with a data cable. Can I use the one from my Holux GPSlim 236 Satnav unit, or the one from my Canon 400D
Sure you can.
Tried it but it didn't seem to work.It didn't charge or connect to the PC.
Does anyone know of a good place to get a data cable from.
Also, do I need to install any software onto my PC to use this PDA (apart from Activesync 4.2 which is already on with windows XP)
the 400d cable works fine iam using it worked with update etc fine even charges it
I found out what the problem was. Activesync was using the new protacol not the seral USB that it should have. Once I installed the MS cab to allow changing over, it worked fine.
Hello everybody
I would like to connect my HTC TyTn II to a device which is using a RS232 for a serial connection. The software I need is running under Windows Mobile 6.1. So what I need is a device to "convert" the USB into a RS232. For PC such things are can be easily bought but I have not yet found something similar for Windows Mobile 6.1 and MiniUSB.
Have I overlooked something (maybe it was to obvious) or do those device really not exist ?
Can you guys help ?
Thanks
Michael
Hm, I believe you can do COM connections over bluetooth (I believe the phone simulates a COM port over bluetooth). You might want to look for a Bluetooth to COM adaptor (don't know whether this exists, though).
even if you found a converter and one could just use one of the many rs232 to normal usb dongles and then a usb to miniusb converter
but it would never work
because to use those conveters the device is required to support usbHost which HTC TyTn II don't
Interesting, stuff, looks like the Adapt gps Keychain has usb driver built in ( no need to purchase special cable for use with computer ) ,i was wondering if a simple diy miniusb-miniusb cable wil work for a connection gps-pda ( an old and useless mda vario)
..to continue,i was so excited that i ordered the gps just to test this
if you want to use gps from your phone on your phone you can get many apps free ones too
like gps2blue
so i'm sure you can google some apps to do it over usb too
Hallo Rudegar, thank you for your answer.
The adapt keychain can be use (via usb) with a laptop already, and through bluetooth with a bluetooth-enabled pda.
My ideea was( here visualise my head glowing like a 100w lamp) to connect the gps with my pda with a miniusb-miniusb cable ( rx,tx,gnd)
Waiting for the gps to come, found in a box 2 miniusb adapters ,will post here any result
(the whole ideea is to avoid high power bluetooth consumption)
the issue there is that usb is a mater slave system
and most pda's don't work as master / usb hosts
they only do slave as being connected to by other hosts
like a pc so basicly usb is input only
the pda can't active use the usb
True,but look at this:
http://www.weethet.nl/english/pda_ipaq3600_to_garminetrex.php#nulmodem
LE: is working,i was lucky:
-the adapt keychain have an antares 4 gps, extremely well documented ,is a driver for wm too
-i failed with 2 cables untill i realized that i need "real" 5 pin miniusb cables,i use 3 wires
-does not work with mapthis/psp out-of-the-box
-the gps is not so sensitive, but outdoor is ok( hollux m1200,solar holux works indoor, adapt keychain not)
Hi all, I have a car radio with an USB connector. It works well with sense ROM, well recognized as an USB drive, but is not working with the cyanogen ROMs, answering to me "Unit Error" when connecting the USB cable...
Can you help me ?
