Is there any way of fine tuning the Google maps
When I ask it to find my location it is almost 1/4 mile out
Is there any way to fine tune.

Find more satellites?
Could it be that you have your GPS turned off?
When your GPS is turned off, Google Maps will attempt to derive you position from the GSM network which isn't going to be at all accurate.
If you turn your GPS on, it will use the satellites to work out your position. Should get it down to a few metres.
Thanks meson1
you got it
now ok thanks

I finally was able to download the latest radio and get GPS to work (it wouldnt do anything prior to the download) but now I have a new issue. When GPS is on and tracking my location the blue triangle that shows your location and direction of travel keeps going sideways. It will be straight for a minute and going my direction, then turn 90 degrees counterclockwise and stay that way (moving sideways). Any fixes?/
My apologies if this is discussed elsewhere, but I have not been able to find the answer.
While using Google Maps Navigation with the phone's screen off it seems to shut off the gps receiver as it tells me GPS signal has been lost about 30 seconds after the screen turns off. As soon as I turn the screen back on it reacquires satellites and resumes navigation. I like to keep the screen off so the nice robot lady can tell me which way to go and I am not tempted to constantly look at my phone screen. If anyone knows if this is normal or a way to keep gps on while navigating I would appreciate the info.
Resolution?
Did anyone ever respond? I have the same issue myself.
Hello.
It seems my phone need compass calibration (rotating phone in 3 axles) pretty much every time I open any application that uses compass.
In google maps for example the arrow never points to the correct direction, no matter how much I rotate the phone. In fact the compass doesn't work for a while in any app, it takes quiet a few seconds or even minutes before it shows some life, usually it starts working after gps lock, but even then it can be off by 180 degree...
In GPS Status app it's very noticeable. I can place the phone on a table and start rotating it, the compass stays still or jumps all over the screen, depends on the phones angle. Then when left alone the compass arrow constantly moves.
Anyone else have this issue?
Yes, I have the same problem. Very unreliable in TW ROMs, and isn't working at all in CM11.
Mine works fine, it does need calibration once in a while, but once I do that it stays good. Can't say how it works with maps since I always use North up, I get too confused if the map rotates according to my movement. Do you use s-view or any type of magnetic mount etc? That could affect compass and require frequent calibration, I think.
So noticed something odd.
turning airplane mode on and off doesn't change the gps mode switch (which is fine imho, gps is a sensor like the inclinometer or magnetic compass)
BUT, it interferes with apps ability to access the gps data
ie. airplane mode is on, gps switch is on, run an app that uses gps data and it never sees it even though the status bar will say 'searching for gps' but never sees or locks any satellites.
if you turn off airplane mode it works just fine, if you reenable airplane mode it will continue to work.
tried using lgs online chat and got nothing but idiots, first one insisted the gpad didn't have gps that it used wifi and cellular signals to simulate location finally got him to send me to someone else and this guy insisted that airplane mode should disable all communication and that gps was communication then after trying to explain the difference between active transceiver systems and passive sensor systems he abruptly disconnected the chat without saying anything...
suffice to say not too pleased with lg support right now
anyhoo, anyone elses pad doing this?
The GPS on my Note 4 was a deal breaker. It wouldn't stay locked while in motion. For example when I would be driving with audible turn by turn navigation on, I would get the dreaded "GPS signal lost" alert after just a few seconds in motion and it wouldn't lock back on until I was stationary again. Then it would lose signal after I started moving. How is the GPS on the Note 7?
It's pretty good on Pokémon Go lol. I haven't used it for Waze yet.
