[REQ] Guitar Tabliture Reader - Touch HD Themes and Apps

Hey,
I'm looking for an app for my HD that can read Guitar Tab. At the moment i'm using Tuxguitar on my Laptop and feel that this propgram would be the best for me to use on my HD.
Does anyone know of one (that reads .GP3/.GP4/.GP5 files) or how to convert this program to use on my mobile?
Cheers,
Ginge1388

would also be interested. panoramic guitar suite is a somewhat useful program for chords and metronome, but no tab reader.
saved pages in opera will have to do for now.

Skyfire For Htc Touch Hd

Hello,
I just wanted to know if skyfire will work on the htc touch hd. Has anyone managed to get it working on their Touch HD. I installed it but get the usual windows error message, i.e it doesn't work on mine. Does it work on yours?
If you do manage to get it working, can you please check if bbc iplayer works on it fully with sound. i read somewhere on this forum that they got it working on their Mobile device but bbc iplayers sound did not work. this will be the best browser to go on bbc iplayer and watch other videos.
Please someone reply.
p.s I got so happy that this will work on the HD, but it doesn't. apparently there isn't a skin that supports the HD's screen. here's the website: http://get.skyfire.com/
Windows Mobile phones: Skyfire runs on Microsoft Windows 5, 6, and 6.1. We support VGA and QVGA screen resolutions. Skyfire runs on many popular Windows Mobile phones including the HTC Tilt, HTC Touch Diamond, HTC Fuze, Motorola Q and Q9, Palm Pro, Palm 800W and Samsung Blackjack II. To check if your phone is compatible with our OS and resolution requirements, please refer to the Microsoft website.
Skyfire will not run on Windows Mobile PDAs. Skyfire runs on phones only.
Skyfire will not run on WVGA Windows Mobile phones.
Skyfire will run on Wi-Fi, however a data plan is recommended.

We must wait a fixed version ;-)
huh, when did they add vga compatibility?? I checked over a month ago and it ran like crap on my Diamond... now I sold the Diamond and got the HD, effectively pushing my self back in the waiting line
Use W VGA Fix 2
->> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442426
i've tried too but resolution of the the hd is bigger ...skyf for smaller rezs...
Current releases are not working with the HD... we have to wait, just that!
p.s: anyway this browser looks promising so much!
Many thanks! Works with W VGA FIX 2...
Although to switch back to regular resolution I found you have to use task manager to close the app and restart.
Doesn't work for me.
How did you get SkyFire to work on HD. Ive installed fix2 and the certificate that came with it. When I try to run SkyFire i just get..
'Skyfire only supports screen size widths/heights of 240,320,480 or 640.
Desperate to get iplayer, if not this solution then the other 'new' thread looks hopeful
Thanks you guys, I'm out of my depth but following your lead!
ashleyp,
install wvga fix 2 cab. That puts a new program in your program list. Find the program called VModeSwitch, run it and change screen res to 640x480. Then run skyfire.
Works many thanks
Now need to try iplayer when at home on my wifi network.

Confirmed that this works 100% perfectly using VModeSwitch.
However, VModeSwitch rotates the screen, you may not want this. I use AEButtonPlus and assigned a long press key to rotate the screen clockwise, in which case VModeSwitch becomes responsive again and I do not have to kill it in the task manager.
The problem is VModeSwitch does nothing until you switch out of it. If you don't want to use AEButton, simply press the home hardkey on your HD after switching resolution, because then the screen goes back to Manila which instantly forces the screen back into portrait mode (but still VGA res). After this, VModeSwitch will work again when you get it from the tasks window and your screen is portrait VGA after which skyfire works 100% perfect.
VGA resolution?
Does the latest Skyfire (with VGA support) actually run at full 640x480 resolution or is it just stretch the pixels for the HD, as though the HD were running at 320x240?
opera
tried it, i think i will just stick with Opera until they fix the vga problem.

Very wise.
I cant understand why people go to such trouble to get a browser to work.
some of us need to monitor pages which display info using fash, I think Skyfire is the only option, right?
Never heard of Flash Lite? Works with Opera and IMO Opera is the best browsing solution anyway. On the other hand Netfront 3.5 Concept works like a charm on the HD for pages that don't display correctly with Opera. Give it a shot, it's free
Okay, I've installed the adobe version for my HD... tell me why we need this horrible looking SkyFire then? I've uninstalled it and the other bits and peices I needed to make it work.

What have you installed?
Adobe version of what?
Can you please explain?
Thanks
Sorry, I went looking for Flash Lite and found a thread with 2 versions, Flash Lite (didn't work for me) and an adobe version of flash lite (I think) which worked. I can now see the flash content on my fantasy football page
I thought SkyFire was a horrible looking browser and just wondered why everyone wants it if Opera can show flash content?

Movie Collection Library

Hello Everyone!!! Was reading the forum for long time, the best forum out there, so well done all.
This is my first thread
I would like to know if there is an app where I can put my movies (DVD) library on my phone (the Great HTC TOUCH HD). Something like Delicious Library or mediaman (with a borrowed option)
That will be nice with a touch screen interface and download the movies data from imdb or amazon.
if not is there anyone interested in writing one???
The only movie database i know for PPC is "Leonard Maltin Movie Guide" where you can mark movies as borrowed. But as far as I know you can`t update the database as it is built in.
I am looking for a database myself a very long time.
In the meantime I have entered my DVD´s in List Pro (Hard work for about 1500 DVD`s)
dvdprofiler have all the functions you are looking for
http://www.invelos.com/dvdpro/Info.aspx
http://www.invelos.com/dvdpromobile/Info.aspx
my preferred is:
http://www.invelos.com/
Thanks guys, I will try the Leonard Maltin Movie Guide and the DVDProfiler and let you know ....
Leonard Maltin Movie Guide doesn't work at all on the HTC Touch HD, whereas the DVDProfiler Works fine, but it doesn't display properly, the bottom of the screen is empty...
Anyone have an alternative??? or a solution to fix this issue??
Mmm, Movieguide works fine with WVGA, on my HD at least. Version 85 of 2008. Full screen! So?

ORB

Hi Guys,
Just downloaded and installed ORB. Brilliant piece of software. Only problem being im not a techno whizz so im struggling a bit. Is the only way i can gain acces to my pc from my touch hd by using opera and opening up the orb site?
Thanks
Nichio
yes
You can ad to favorites www.mycast.orb.com
Then you don't have to type your password all the time.
It's indeed a great piece of software.
I'm streaming my satelite from home on it
Also music or movies(even vob files) he plays.
regards stef
Thanks Stef. I have already done that, just didnt know if any of the genius techies on here had came up with some kind of App if its possible.
Thanks Nichio
I am now looking into connecting my sky box to my. once i have done that would it be possible to stream that to my touch hd?
if it has an ethernet and it can stream ike my dreambox, then yes you can stream.
Open notpad and make an line with your sky box/drea,box ipadres like this 192.168.1.10/video.m3u and save it to anyname.mp4
The configure orb.
and add that mp4(video)file.
regards stef
Great Thanks.
I have another problem with orb now. i installed it and all was fine. How ever first time i tried to reboot my compter i am now missing a windows system config file. Anyway around this?
Nichio
I used Orb for a while but found it was caining my cpu randomly so had to remove it. I'm now using TVersity. The interface isn't as cool but when browsing from you mobile it's perfect cos you don't have to render loads of graphics etc. The only thing about TVersity is that you need to open ports on your router and use something like dyndns if you've not got a static wan ip.
What I liked the most was that you don't need to go through a third party website to access you stuff. I also use it to access music on my PC from my Wii.

Touch HD as webcam?

Just wondered if there are any programs that allow you to use the Touch HD as a webcam?
Webcamera Plus works really well with mine!
The best bit of software I have found so far for this job is a program thats free called 'TinyCAM', its AMAZING! it has its own webserver and can detect motion and upload images to an FTP server etc
You can use its feed with WebcamXP I think too
Cons: no sound
Try "Mobiola Web Camera for Windows Mobile"
Google it.

[Q] HELP!! Surface RT Tablet INSANITY! [+ Rooting?]

I just got myself this Windows Surface RT Tablet (finally) after having been through many cheaper tablets in the past, because I had been unable to afford the Surface. So, now that I have it, and have already done all I can with it (which isn't much!), I have found that I am unable to even PLAY MOST OF MY VIDEOS (most of them are mkv, avi, mp4) which is one reason I got a tablet to begin with! I have not been able to find ANY video player apps that are even worth TRYING in the MS App Store, and so far any searches I have done online for "How to install programs on surface RT", or even "How to hack my surface RT tablet" have not come up with any answers! I did find one article on how to "Jailbreak" the tablet, but even then, it will only actually RUN a tiny number of programs.
I have become so fed up and am out of patience for this thing!
I can't watch most of my movies, I can't figure out how to play the Win8 SNES Emulator (since I can't install the game ROMs), I can't install Firefox (my ONLY browser!), I hate how the Home Screen only allows you to pick from the pre-installed backgrounds, and I can't load my own wallpaper like I can on my laptop, and I really hate the Home Screen interface with all the annoying little tiles! Can anyone offer advice, or point me to where I can get some of this fixed??
THANKS! :fingers-crossed:

The RT runs RT windows 8, which doesn't run x86 apps aka .exe files. You can only install apps from the store without jail break. Also there's no Firefox for rt, I think you were confused on what rt could do compared to full windows.
All wallpapers can be changed via settings or control panel using the classic desktop. For video files the rt doesn't support every format, it'll work with the sane format every windows machine does. MP4 will work, but I'm guessing you have mkv.

Errm you should be able to. The RT has USB host. Should plug it in and it should just appear as a device as normal, tested with an Xperia M and Surface RT (not my tablet though). It only worked with my phone set to mass storage or MTP modes in the USB menu, didnt work for the picture/photo/camera mode and doesnt work for ADB.
Failing that, both have bluetooth file transfer....

That's different, you have some issue with your phone. My RT detects my N4 & LGOG.

When I plug in the razr maxx hd via USB- Motorola device manager tries to install and it is not compatible with RT. So I resorted to uploading from my phone to a cloud app called MEGA and then downloading through my tablet browser...

You dont have to use their software unless motorola have really cocked the razr maxx up big time.
Yeah they cocked it up really good- it wont even connect to my ps3 via USB, things we sacrifice for amazing battery life. Oh and if i connect it to the surface as FTP- I can view the pictures that are on my phone storage only, no sd card or video support either.

Why can't you install the roms?? I just used windows explorer to copy them to the C: drive on my Surface RT. I put them in a folder within the downloads folder, but you can probably put them anywhere. Then you open the Snes8x and just add that folder as a Rom directory (press the "Load Rom" button). Someone on this site pointed out you can enable keyboard controls by swiping in from the right, and click settings->Input Settings.

Good news is, VLC is coming to Metro. They will submit their app to the store in the next following days.
Bad news is, right now this support x86 only. You have to wait for ARM support.
I feel for you. My school has given us all windows surface RTs and they're kind of annoying. I've found a few workarounds for a lot of my problems though. If you're having trouble playing .mp4s then that's just weird. Unless they're encoded really strangely, rt's video player should play those. However if that's no help it's worth trying out PressPlay, a free video player with very small ads that do not interfere at all and can be removed for a buck or two that let's you
1. Play external subtitles, although I've found it impossibly buggy but I haven't done extensive tests so it could be useful
2. Play .mkvs although that's experimental and also doesn't work very well
3. More features in general such as pausing without bringing up UI, changing playback rate, stuff like that.
Now if you have mkvs I would recommend using this program on a jailbroken windows rt:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2368706
It's a program called ffmpeg and it's ported from normal windows. Make sure to download ffmpeg2.1_ARM.zip not ffmpeg0.6_arm.zip
with this program you can copy the video and audio from your mkv to an mp4 so it can play on your rt if you extract fmmpeg to a folder and then run this in command prompt(include the quotation marks and make sure to use backslashes(\) not forward slashes(/)):
cd "The bin folder in wherever you extracted ffmpeg to for example C:\ffmpeg\bin"
ffmpeg -i "Your mkv for example C:\myvid.mkv" -c copy -map 0:v -c copy -map 0:a "Your output mp4 for example C:\myvid.mp4"
That will also go super fast because there's no compression involved, it's just copying all video tracks and audio tracks from and mkv to an mp4.
In fact if you continue to use this command a lot you speed up the process heaps by making a batch file including these 2 lines of code:
cd "Again, your location of the bin folder in the folder you extract ffmpeg to, for example C:\ffmpeg\bin"
ffmpeg -i %1 -c copy -map 0:v -c copy -map 0:a "%~n1.mp4"
and then put that batch file into your SendTo folder(C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\SendTo).
If you do that then all you have to do is right click on one of your mkvs and click SendTo whatever you named your batch file and it'll make an mp4 with the same name in the same directory.
As far as snes games go snes8x has now been taken off the store but you can get a port of the desktop app of snes9x from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2339228
if you have a jailbroken device. Although it is an emulator and it doesn't neccessarily run great so if you have the original surface RT as I do I would stick with 2D games. But test them and figure it out.
In fact if you have a jailbroken device there's a thread here all about apps ported to the RT or native for the RT right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2092348
If you have any trouble with any of that I'm happy to help.
