Rhodium Settings Tool has switches for the 4 extra camera modes available:
Burst
Sport
Video Share
GPS Tagging
You can also use the attached cab if you just want to enable the 4 all at once. But, the Rhodium Settings Tool is always a great app to have around in general.
Once you've enabled whichever of the extra modes you want, you just choose them in the camera's settings window

Burst is a quick, low-res photo. Sport is less quick, less low-res, but fast for taking shots of "sports" or action shots. With such low MP, it doesn't matter too much, the photo will come out blurry either way.

camera
correct it is not free, the beta, if you can find it will work for a while.
The big change I would like to see is a better night shot feature, I had a wizard and with Cool Camera, you could select night and it acted like a night vision camera, it worked real well in low light.
I know the camera is able to do the function, it's just the programming that needs to be reworked.
yeah the camera can definatly be able to do that, but it just needs a program that will be able to do the cropping and expanding without killing the processor when taking a video and zooming.
thats why i liked nokias so much.. u could pritty much make an entire home movie on a nokia, and it will look professional.
the graduated zoom on them is amazing,...

[Q] Camera exposure settings

I have consistent problem with camera while taking shots during shows/concerts. Take a look at the pic, the normal looking one at the top is actually under exposed -2. The bottom is exposure 0. I have the same problem while taking videos. For some reason Samsung gets very sensitive while there is a big differential in the light settings. My friend's LG HD and all iPhones don't have this glare.
Is there a place I can edit and modify exposure settings? I'm on TW Jedi X12, but found all TW roms have that 'problem.'
C'mon, no one has the answer to this basic question/problem?

Hi. I don't know where to edit exposure but, have you tried Camera FV-5? It's a really neat app, and it does a real job. You can adjust the exposure, ISO, shutter controls, white balance, metering and it also display a live histogram while focusing. DSLR controls on your Note2.
Hope it helps!
Thanks for the tip. Great app indeed but no video option. Will be looking to find how to edit the camera app file and make exposure -2 to stick as default.

Do you have auto contrast on? Seems like that may be worth looking into

LOL - it was a smali edit that fixed it. I am away from my laptop so I can't tell you the specifics at the moment, but there is one particular smali file that sets the defaults for a number of things - including exposure value. There were a few places where the exposurevalue:I and camcorderexposurevalue:I were set to 0x0 (i.e. 0 on the exposure setting). Each integer seemed to be equivalent to a half step on that scale (so 0x1 would be an exposure of 0.5, etc.), so where those values were being set I changed them to -0x4 (or -2). If folks are interested I could post just the modified camera apk, and dkb218 if you want the super-specifics shoot me a PM and I'll go into some more detail once I have the files in front of me (this is all being said from memory, which in my case is rather fallible lol).
Post the modded camera.apk when possible and thank you
camera exposure settings
Is there a way to get the exposure value to go lower than -2? I'm trying to take pictures of powerpoint presentations. The Ipads in the audiences are having no problem with tapping on the screen, the camera focuses on the powerpoint slide and it is clearly visible. The Note 8 still whites it out. An exposure of -2 helps but not enough.

LG Camera takes ages to save the photo and sometimes losses it

I've noticed if you snap a photo with LG Camera app and immediately press the back button or switch off the screen, the photograph is not going to be saved and you will loose it. You really need to wait until you see a preview of it in a circle on the right side.
And that time can be up to 2-3 seconds, which is really annoying.
Native google camera doesn't have this bug.
Has anyone else experienced such behavior?

No problem here...... Just tried it.
If I snap and immediately press the back button it quits the camera app but if I go back into the app the thumbnail of the shot is there.
So no, my G3 takes the shot and saves immediately.

That's why it takes a while.. HDRs don't render instantly and need some time to process. The reason it doesn't save when you back out is because it's still taking pictures.

So, I understand that, but why does it need to discard the photo if I close it too fast ? Can't it just schedule the processing in the background like Google camera does ?
With Google camera if it is in HDR mode and I switch off the screen immediately after taking a picture, the photo will still be saved.

I believe it's because the way HDR works is it takes multiple pictures at different exposures and puts them together so maybe the lg camera takes the pictures more slowly and you're quitting it while the shutter is still open?

What is the point of quitting camera app immediately after making a shot? I think you probably want something that is nonexistent. Shoot with your Google camera if you in so desperate need to quit camera app after each shot. What else to advice

Now you're saying that I have to just idle 3 seconds after taking HDR photo.

NONSENCE is your BS, that you talking about. All other phones are unresponsive while taking HDR pictures. Because of simple fact that taking HDR requires he11 of lot of postprocessing. So why talk NONSENSE and demand G3 to make it instantly?

Okee first off your comment is rude and disrispectful, secondly if you don't want your photo's getting deleted deselect hdr, wait 2-3 seconds or contact LG/stock based rom developer to enable processing in the backround for hdr photos

As I said before, a google camera app doesn't have this problem. It produces hdr fine, even if you close the app immediately.
Obviously you gonna ask why am I not using it. I find that lg camera produces better results in HDR mode.
I usually don't reply to semi trolly post but I just took an HDR and instantly hit the back button and it doesn't save. (Of course) but I did the same thing and waited MAYBE a second maybe less and the photo finished processing and saved even though I backed out.
@op does the phone close when you take a picture or are you just intentionally hiring the back button that quickly on purpose? I literally had to try to NOT take a picture to keep it from processing. In just curious why someone would back out of taking a picture each time so fast. Well an HDR anyway

I presume that LG camera made that behaviour intended, programmers decided that if back or home buttons pressed immediately after pic is shot then use decided not to save picture so camera stops processing completely and doesn't save photo on memory. I think it is not problem it is a feature.

1. I do not talk nonsense especially when photography is the subject.
2. My previous phone was a Z2 which I would hardly call inferior.
3. If you wish to take a non standard photo then you also have to allow the processor time to complete it's action. As such 3 seconds (which by the way it is nothing like this on my G3) is adequate.
4. What gives you the right to insult any user. All that was given to you was an example of a waiting period prior to doing something else. In no way did that give you the right to be offensive.
return your phone and get a nexus

Ugh, you mean I have to wait an entire two seconds so the photo can process??? What is this? The 1800s?!?!

I never knew the G3 has a fast camera :S?

Every time i take a picture. Its very fast. But i have to wait a second before i can take another one. A very noticeable delay.
Yet in this new video by danny winget (awesome youtuber) he shows at 8:52 into the video he can take picture after picture with zero delay :S how the hell has he done it?
Anyone else have similar issue?

In situations with plenty of light (and with HDR off and same stationary focal point) I can also take subsequent images at the same speed as on the shown video.
If the camera needs to refocus (objects moves around or you moved the camera) or when there is less light the speed, naturally, is much slower.
Are you using phone memory or SD card? That would make difference.

Unlock longer shutter speeds

Hello everyone,
Long story short, just bought nexus 5x, I have developed a few kernels in past for various devices, and I am little bit disappointed with n5x camera.
Phone does make awesome pictures, but it lacks longer shutter speeds, I would like to unlock it. Some people say that it is hardware limited, some that software, so here I am asking you how is it for real, and please, answer with any arguments, proofs, I would like to avoid guessing.
I would like to know if there is any sense in trying to unlock it and digging through source code.
Cheers
I managed to take photos with 1 s shutter speed with L Camera.

Nexus 5 hardware is capable of capturing photos at 0.86s shutter speed (5x probably too). And this app uses this capability.

Looks like HTC 10 has same camera sensor and it's camera app allows to use 2s shutter speed, unfortunately, none of htc camera app versions let's me go manual on our nexus.
Also Xiaomi YI 2 action camera has it, and it allows up to 30s while taking pics. So i guess I/we would have to edit camera libs. I also emailed lcamera creator but I don;t think that he will respond.

Hey guys, I have Nokia 8 (TA 1012) and I don't like the fact that the longest exposure time is 1/2 s. Can you help me override it? To unlock longer exposure time.
