HIya
I few months ago i updated my splash using the guide on here called " Custom splash image"
But now i wish to sell my phone i've reflashed the rom back to T-Mobile Stock
and while splash1 has restored back to stock splash2 hasn't
Does anybody have a copy of the original splash1/2 from the stock phone?
or know a way to extract splash1
Regards
D
are you talking android screen or g1 screen? do you want cupcake or donut
I want the one that shows when you 1st turn on the phone
on my UK phone its a big G1 with t-mobile below it
i dont' have an camera to show it
and i can't find screen shot on google either

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=473248

Actually, the original T-mobile G1 only had splash1, it didn't have splash2, so you'll need to wipe/erase splash2...
Code:
fastboot erase splash2
fastboot reboot
If that doesn't work, try:
Code:
fastboot flash splash1 splash1.img
fastboot flash splash2 splash1.img
fastboot reboot

Good news. The MotoDev site is now hosting the material needed for unlock / reflash / relock. You need to register but no big deal.

Ok he is now saying its up. Has anyone acutally found the files? Noone on the Moto forums will say sh** about their exact location.
Update: Seems the link to where the files are posted is incorrectly mapped. They are looking into getting the issue fixed so officials are up but not accessible.
I tried looking for the files, but that site is worse than trying to find firmware on the ibm site!
Jump to the end of the thread. They are aware of the link issue and expected it up today.
I will post the files in a new thread as soon as I find them available.
the files are up now on motorola! here http://developer.motorola.com/products/software/

So we have the commands from Moto:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem lock
But for those (like me) who aren't super confident in their skills in this area, what steps are not mentioned above? Obviously we'd need to reboot to fastboot (power button + volume up). Then once we're there, we just use the commands above in adb? No additional reboots/remounts/etc involved here? In other words, no steps missing above that might not be obvious to some users?
Here are the steps in order to use the files ( I will post the files in a couple minutes, uploading now)
1. Extract the files to the android-sdk/tools folder
2 open command prompt/terminal from the sdk tools folder
3. adb reboot bootloader
4 fastboot flash boot boot.img
5 fastboot flash system system.img
6 fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
7 fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
8 fastboot erase cache
9 fastboot oem lock
You are now relocked and back to stock (no root) If VZ or Moto will know that you were ever rooted I dont know.
Actually you will be using the fastboot cmd not ADB (adb reboot bootloader to get into fastboot), totally different thing. Just follow the commands motorola has and your all set (no rebooting, just one after the other). When you get to the oem lock part, use the volume controls on the xoom to choose yes to continue....
jmc2543 post is exactly what I did
Thing you have to remember is you have to be in the recovery which is what the adb command does in order to use the fastboot commands. For windows anyways. I just tried fastboot commands from the desktop and the cmd prompt sits there.
Ok im stock now give me my damn update.
Nice, all set to go now. Thanks for the help bro!
Hello,
I have got a bit tired of waiting for the OTA volume fix and decided to tr and apply it manually.
I made a mistake and used the following command fastboot flash boot cwm.img.
now my nexus just boots into cwm is there any way I can fix this?
Now when I try to use fastboot it just keep saying (waiting for device), and the phone sits in CWM
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Cthuluh
You can try these. Factory images. Someone posted about them and I bookmarket them, and downloaded a copy just incase.

Excellent we have someone to test the script
You could just try flash the boot.img to the boot partition
Code:
fastboot boot boot.img
And if that works
Code:
fastboot flash boot.img
Hi,
I took the battery out for a few minutes and when I put it back in I booted it into fastboot, which it wouldnt do earlier (kept booting cwm).
I then used the instructions supplied in the google factory image download mentioned above.
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-maguro-primekj10.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio radio-maguro-i9250xxkk1.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot -w update image-yakju-itl41d.zip
And all is now well.
lesson learned dont flash while drinking red wine.
Thanks again
Cthuluh
Guys let me put this disclaimer out there, this is not my first Android device and neither my first time tinkering or modding it. I've rooted three android devices prior to this.
I upgraded from a Droid Incredible this weekend to Galaxy Nexus on Verizon and finally thought of rooting and flashing a kernel to the phone today since battery life is horrendous. I download the Rootkit that is on the forums here and went through the procedure as laid out in the thread. After unlocking the bootloader and flashing root, the phone hangs on google boot screen. I am fearing that i have bricked the phone. Does anybody else have suggestions on what should i do here? I've never had a problem with rooting a device before.
This is why I always do mines manually. It's better to do it that way and not take the faster route because you get a idea what's going on.
Is your bootloader unlocked? did that successfully work? When you turn your phone on on the bottom center.. is there a lock there?
It's not bricked. Put the phone in fastboot and flash the galaxy nexus image files to it. No big deal.

Exactly what I was going to say. +1
fastboot oem lock
fastboot oem unlock
Bricking this phone is nearly impossible, we have fastboot, and even Odin for when things really go to hell.
Restore to stock and start again! You should always keep these images around anyway in case you get stuck at any stage.
1) Grab the latest image for your type of phone from google:
http://code.google.com/android/nexus/images.html
2) Unzip the file and its contents into your SDK/Tools folder (wherever your adb.exe and fastboot.exe files are).
3) From within your Tools folder, open a command prompt (SHIFT + right click – “open command prompt here”) / OR open a command prompt and CD to the folder.
4) Type the following commands, allowing each to finish before moving onto the next:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-<varies>.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio radio-<varies>.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio-cdma radio-cdma-<varies>.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot -w update image-<varies>.zip
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Remember the exact image name will vary depending on which version you use. Also if you have the GSM version you won't have radio-cdma etc.
There's other guide that are specific to GSM or CDMA/LTE version if you need exact filenames.
You guys are awesome! I was able to get it back to Stock Google. Thanks a lot fellas .

ok so im on a mac and really not too familiar with the locations for things so im tryng to figure out what to, i can get to fastboot and recovery, somehow i lost my backup and the rom that i have isnt installing, i already wiped all data and now it only reboots to the google splash screen with the lock pad unlocked. what do i need to do exactly i may need a walk through unless what is on previous posts is what i need to do?
I am not a noob when it comes to android dev, but this has stomped me and I am asking for expert's help. I have a GSM version SGN that I flashed the official yakju ICL53F on it via fastboot. It has been working great for a month now. Suddenly today I felt it was vibrating in my pocket, took it out and discover it was stuck in boot loop--the google sign with the unlocked icon. I waited til I get home to put clockworkmod on it, but when I try to nandroid it first it gave me an error. Then I figure I would just fastboot the stock rom on it again, using fastboot mode like I did before. I even flashed the bootloader, radio, and system image. Still stuck on google icon with screen went blank, vibrate and repeat. Is there anything else I should try? odin mode is also available, but I am not seeing any instructions on it at the developer section so I am reluctuant to try it. I can still adb and fastboot to access my phone...help please?
well I am no noob but I am no expert either. Apparently you cannot
fastboot flash system XXXXstock_image.img, you have to use
fastboot update -w XXXstock_image.img instead.
still I am baffled by why this happened in the first place. I was ready to lock the bootloader back up and send it in for warranty...glad I didn't have to resort to that.

I think you are mixing some things up.
The "update" parameter of fastboot is used to flash a group of images inside a zip file to you device.
The "flash" parameter is used to flash a single image to your device.
The following two groups of commands do the same thing:
fastboot update -w image-yakju-icl513f.zip
or
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
i tried to root my phone (unsuccessfully) and now i cant even factory reset it. if i try it loads onto the recovery screen where the touch screen is unresponsive (my reason for not completing the root, as well as not detecting my phone for twrp flashing). is my phone now "bricked" on stock? UNROOTABLE
I presume your bootloader is unlocked? Are you able to boot into your ROM or not?
If you want to just bring your phone back up and running, you will need to run a RUU or restore a nandroid backup:
So post the result of the following:
Code:
fastboot getvar version-main

thanks again vin4yak..my phone works perfectly as htc wants it to .. ive unlocked bootloader.. pushed super su.zip.. reboot into bootloader.
cannot push twrp as it says device not found. if i go into recovery the touch screen is unresponsive.. could this be due to missing this step or should it be working?

The latest TWRP doesn't work on bases greater than 3.14... So I recommend flashing CWM and then proceeding with the rooting process!

Didn't get you??! What are you trying to say?
To flash a new recovery you have to put the recovery img file in your fastboot folder and then flash it via opening cmd in fastboot folder and phone in fastboot mode... and then :
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
