Literally on the T-Mobile version, it takes about a minute from when you press install to come to the confirmation screen (this app has access to) to allow you to press ok and then download and install.
Anyone else have this problem and has anyone thought of a workaround?
I've extracted vending.apk to my desktop and tried removing it but obviously don't have permissions, need root. Would have then pushed vending.apk from a nexus one rom to see if that made a difference.
I've been downloading quite a few apps and it seems fine to me, as fast as the iPhone app store. I've been doing it through WiFi though.
Mine is very fast. Downloading apps/watching HQ youtube. I'm using 3G or is it HSDPA? (I see the H logo). I live in Leicester

It's definitely not the internet speed (I also get HSDPA (H Logo)).
It's not so much finding apps its when I click on an app and press install it takes about a minute to load the next screen which says something like "This app will have access to <> [OK] [Cancel]"

I don't have that problem tbh, although my Sense UI crashed twice since I got it in the afternoon and restarted by itself
No problems for me - smooth and quick.

Yep, mine is fast from the point of initiating the install to actually using the app.
I had that problem, but content unlock fixed it.
Try it.
That assuming you're on T-Mobile, which at this point most of us are on

I phoned them to remove it, for some reason 150 disconnected before she said bye but it should have worked.

You can do that on www.t-mobile.co.uk
Also, don't forget to reboot the phone.
I am having that problem from time to time with my G1. It usually happens after the first boot when I have wiped the phone. If I just leave the phone with the market app open for half an hour it usually is smooth again.
Funny how the blogs posted a article today saying the skype app was updated to include video calling on many phones including the incredible S. however, I didn't see the 2. I thought thye were nearly the same phones? does it make sense why they would release it on the S and not the dinc2?
From the app description in the market:
Some notes:
If you're using Android 2.2 (Froyo) or greater on a device not listed in the What's New section, you should still be able to enable video calling in Skype settings. Please note that video call quality may not be as good as on a certified device.
On Android 2.2 (Froyo), only the back camera will work. This is because only devices running Android OS 2.3 or higher allow apps to access the front facing camera.
If the setting to enable video calling is not available in the Skype Settings on your device that means video calling is not yet supported on your phone.

i have 2.3.3 on my phone, GB OTA update. no root. my phone has skype 2.1.0.46 on it right now, and i'm not seeing anywhere for video. When you got it working, is it just mobile to mobile video, or can you do a mobile to desktop video?

I tested with mobile-to-desktop.
Make sure you're using the Skype from the market and not the pre-loaded one named Skype for Verizon. Go into the settings and the last section is labeled "Video calls." There should be an option that says "Enable video calling." I had to manually enable it.

well IMAGINE that... i just had to go to settings to enable the video call. it gave me some warnign message, but let me enable it. i did just try my dinc2 to my macbook, didn't work, but im going to try with another mobile. when chatting with the macbook, on the dinc2 it lets me click the video button, but it goes to a black screen for a second, then comes back to the menu, so its probably crashing the program on the phone... probably cause its chatting with a mac

My girlfriend has a Macbook Pro and the first time we tried it, it wouldn't let her enable video on her side but she could see me. The next time we tried it worked perfectly and has been ever since.
It just appeared in my notification blind saying that it was downloading Facebook (build 132866). It's not downloading from the Play Store. If I check the App Info (hold on the notification and click App Info), it's the Download Manager, not Play Store. According to the Play Store, I have the latest version of Facebook and I don't have automatic updating on it. Clicking this download doesn't open anything. I tried restarting my phone and it was the first thing to appear on my phone, even before the launcher finished loading!
It's been downloading forever and I don't know how to stop it! Any ideas what to do with it?
SOLVED! Connect to a WiFi and it'll download instantly.
Facebook (Build 132866)
I had the same issue you had. For me, it took about 24 hours for the application to actually begin to download, then it asks you to install it. I did because I wanted to see what happens, but as far as I can tell it didn't do anything. I still have the newest version of Facebook (2.2.1), nothing on my phone was modified or removed.
I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I'm with WIND Mobile, I have a friend who's with Sprint who's had the same issue as well. I'm the only one out of all my friends that this has happened to. So if anyone else has a good explanation as to why this happened please share
UK too
Not that this helps anyone, but it's happening in the UK too. I'm on H3G, just about to tweet them and see if they know anything about it (they probably wont) seeing as this is happening on both sides of the pond, on different networks, it looks like it's an HTC fail. It's been downloading on mine for about 17 hours now
Seeing the same thing for a couple of hours now on my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3. I've tried a reboot as well as a power down/power up and it keeps coming back after reboot. Maybe I'll do a battery pull and see what happens -- or turn on my WIFI to see if it completes quicker.

Oh thanks for the idea! I turned on my WiFi and it downloaded straight away. I guess this is an update directly from the Facebook app and not a phone specific thing.
Downloaded and installed, was stuck downloading also until I turned on wifi. I do not notice anything new or different. I am wonder why this is being pushed out like this instead of a market update. I did a Google search to see if Facebook or anyone else has announced this update, but didn't find anything other than posts like this one.

I'm seeing this too my my T989. I didn't know that the Facebook app could update itself outside of the Play Store. Not very happy about it.
Even after uninstalling Facebook and Facebook Pages Manager, it is still there trying to download!
Update: Killing Download Manager app removed it from my notification bar.
Update 2: Now it is back, even with all Facebook apps uninstalled!
I'm getting this right now heading back to work to connect to the t
wifi
I wonder if this update has anything to do in preparation for this....

Here is a solution someone posted and it worked for me, I have a galaxy note 2. Go to the downloads folder and you will probably see two entries of this file trying to download. Delete them both. No more hanging download.
Connected to the wifi and it downloaded and forced me to update my Facebook app with no significant changes.
What the heck is this crap? I don't see "turn on wifi" as a solution to the problem. I'm wondering why in the heck Facebook is downloading crap externally from the market. If anyone finds any kind of an explanation to this I would greatly appreciate it.
Uninstalling and rebooting an app and still getting a some rogue hung download only to "turn on wifi" to get it to go away? Really? I don't even want it on my phone any more.
btw if you don't want to turn on wifi to download it you can apparently uninstall the app then kill download manager and it seems to go away.

Yes it will, but if you force stop the download manager, then clear the cache and data, it seems to stop. I had the ongoing download for days...I could force stop and it would pop back after a few minutes...I even
uninstalled Facebook and it kept popping back up... but after clearing all data and cache, it hasn't come back yet

This worked perfectly for me. Killing the download manager only delays the forced update. As soon as you restart it, the auto update resumes. Deleting the actual files in the folder is the only thing that worked for me.
when i wanna play youtube always get "connection to server lost, touch to retry", i'm in sprint stock rom with mobile package data active, for internet is no problem, on wifi can play, when i tethering my phone as modem and i connect to my computer for play youtube is ok. it just cant play only in a phone.
somebody can help thanks.
Did you try clearing data and cache in apps? Or even uninstall and reinstall the app itself
sent from my GS3
Usually I just exit the app, hold the home button and clear all recent apps and then it works again.

Easy fast simple solution when this occurs and usually after an update. Just uninstall the app completely and then go back to google play store and redownload the app.

I have been tried all the way ( clear, uninstall update etc) but still error... I tried to install other program 'tubemate' still cant connect /play the video, but when i download the video first and play later is no problem..

Ty, I've been hunting for a solution for some time now, and I didn't think of something like that.... It is true, when I disabled AdBlock Plus, I didn't see the error again.
Guess I either need a replacement for Adblock Plus, or something in it's settings to change?? hmmmm.
Again though, thanks again!!!!

wow thanks for this. It's been driving me insane. I removed Adblock Plus and it worked. So I installed AdAway and rebooted. Seems to still work fine also. So try that ad blocking app out. So far so good.
Solved ! ( apparently not related to AdBlockPlus)
To make a long story short, I don't have AdBlockPlus but i DO have DroidWall installed.
just forgot I had to allow "MediaServer" to access the internet (as well as YouTube of course) - problem solved.
This has been happening to me. I fixed it by going to manage apps. YouTube, Delete cache, delete data, uninstall updates and I clicked the turn off button. Ran cleanmaster app and removed junk files. Then I rebooted and turned youtube back on and now videos will play. I'm on the Galaxy S4 stock.
Hopefully this helps someone
By the way Facebook wouldn't play any videos it would say "can't play video" and now Facebook is playing the same videos that it couldn't before.

How about upgrading from that dinosaur you're using? Gingerbread is like 4 years outdated.
No AdBlock, Firewall, root or custom ROM
I have stock device 4.3 android (not Samsung btw.). As i said, no adblock/firewall/custom rom etc.
When I updated YouTube app, I got that connection problem.
I've tryed reinstalling, changing DNS1 and 2, clearing data... Nothing helped...
Any suggestions?

It's happening to me now too. But since mine's installed as a User App and not a System App, I can't just uninstall the updates, although I did try uninstalling it completely and reinstalling. No joy.
I've tried a dozen different things. You should know that lots of people post lots of "solutions", but for 95% of the users, none of them work.
I'm hurting especially bad, because it happens to me on both types of connections (4G & WiFi). I even tried a 3rd party YouTube app and that wouldn't work either.
All this since today's (or last night's?) v10.25.57 YouTube update!
I am running a Samsung.

Hi,
I tried disabling AdAway and reverting back to the original Hosts file, but no joy.
This time, it's affecting both my 4G & WiFi connections. When this happened before, I could at least watch it on 4G.
The weird thing is, that if I'm not signed in, I can watch videos. But once I sign in, EVEN WHEN USING A 3RD PARTY YOUTUBE APP, I have the problem!
Yes, eventually a YouTube update will come through that will fix it (could be 6 months or so), but I'm thinking that something "underneath" it all got updated/changed at the same time, because otherwise;
Why would it affect me only when I sign in?
And if it was limited to only the YouTube app being updated and there isn't anything else being changed at the same time in the background where you don't see it, then how could 3rd party YouTube apps be affected when you sign in to them with your Google (Gmail) account?
See what I mean? Something else, "under the hood" simply must be going on, amen?
TTYL
Lately when I've been asking Google to set a reminder it ALWAYS says "sure, let me get some more information so I can help you with that" and shows the attached screen in my attachment

That getting started comes up every time. I've had this phone for almost a year and used Google Assistant all of the time. It's just recently that this issue has come up.
I'm going to uninstall what I can related to Google Assistant, clear data of what I can't and sign out of everything and then sign back in and see if that helps
EDIT: uninstalling and reinstalling, clearing data from some Google services, signed of my Google account linked to assistance and verything seems to be fine now
Back to doing it again...fml
You could try booting to safe mode and see if the problem persists. If not, there's an app interfering. If the problem is still there in safe mode, then that's something glitchy about the Google setup.

I haven't tried the reboot into safe mode yet. Sometimes Google Assistant gets its crap together and works fine and then other times it needs more information. At this moment it's working again. Once it acts up I'm going to do the safe mode way and see if that works.
