Hey peeps.
I am having problem with "search" on HTC Desire.
It works good with everything beside calendar search. Its just not working right!
In about 1/2 of tries it just wont search the calendar event!
If i for example have Birthday for 2 peoples with same first name it just wont search one of them or even both. Then i open calendar, look on the place they have birthdays, exit it and try search again and it works OK. ...ill wait a bit, try the search again... and again nothing found!!
What is the problem? Does anyone have the same problem??
It does the same even when i use "search" directly from the calendar.
Please, test it someone and tell me if its only mine problem. SOme events it dont have problem to find everytime, but some not. Dont know why. Cant even imagine why is that.
Pls. help. Its pretty iritating.... (
Hmmm...Done a Quick test on mine, and 5 times out of 5 it found my calendar Event.
Might be Network based if its Google Calendar and not Syncing correctly? Dunno, but seems fine my end
KYI
Hmm... i dont get it.
I just tried to put new event on google. Then sync. phone with it.
Then open search - tested - and nothing found.
If i open calendar - then jump out - and try search again - it works.
But if i wait or try to search for some event that is much much later (like 4 and mor months) - crappy results again. Sometimes it found the event, sometimes not.
Iam desperate....
did you tried to find some distant event? Or just some that is today or so...?

Even Christmas Day comes up, so its working well into the Future for me
KYI
And you are using google calendar or just private one stored in phone?
When you create event in november, run synchro on desire and then try to search it by the basic search... will it find it??
I dont really get whats the problem (
What COULD be happening is what I notice sometimes is the search results are in the 'More Results' button at the bottom of the screen
Enter what you are looking for, then go to bottom of search results, there should (Sometimes) be a box labled 'More Results'
Try in there...
Nope, nothing there. And i know about the "more results" box.
Iam so confused
I tried to restore factory setting but the problem is still there...
I for example created 2 entries via google cal. - Test 1 - 20.4.2010 and Test 2 - 20.12.2010.
Synced.
Results: Test 1 found, nothing about test 2 in there....
I open calendar - checked date 20.12.2010 - yes, the Test 2 entry was there.
Jump back to main screen - search - well, test 1 and test 2 found. ...so what the hell???

Hello all,
In the past week, Opera does not want to stay signed in/logged in to any website, including this one.
Example: I go to my iGoogle page, which should normally just come up, but I need to log in. I log in, my page shows up, great. Then I want to go to Gmail from ny iGoogle, and I have to sign in again. If I want to read an e-mail, log in again. If I want to reply to the e-mail I'm reading, log in again. Just to write this question, I had to log in twice, and I'll probably have to to submit it as well. It's getting annoying.
I have no such problems with Skyfire or the built-in IE. I haven't changed any settings, always make sure I check "stay logged in" if the option is available. I did clear cookies and cache about 2 months ago, but there was no difference until last week. The only things I have added lately were a few of brent's coloured icons. I use Clean Ram almost daily, have for months, and have soft reset at least once a week.
I have a Telus TP2 (CDMA), original ROM, using Opera that's built in.
If anyone knows or has suggestions, they would be appreciated.

I'm not positive on this one, but I'd suspect that Opera's "turbo mode" might be stripping your saved login info...it routes all website data through their servers, so there's a chance that login info won't be persistent through that. To disable that for testing this, just select the "options" menu in Opera, and then un-select the "Opera Turbo" option near the top...then see if once you login one more time, it still doesn't retain that for you.
Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't change a thing. Had to log in 3 times just to get to this page, very frustrating.
Side note, the "options" menu wasn't where you said it was. I still found it using the search function in "opera:config". Maybe my particular build of 9.5.
Anyone else care to take a shot at it? Or should I just go to a newer version of Opera, and will it overwrite the existing one so it's the default?

Ahh yes I'd assumed you were on 9.7 or higher, didn't realize any versions of the TP2 had 9.5 as the default version.
As I understand it, installing any version of Opera subsequent to the one installed by default on your stock ROM will actually create a completely new discreet install of the new version, and the original will still be on there...that's what happend when I installed 10.
More info can be found on my signature link
Thank you, orb3000, however, you have more than one clickable link in your signature, one of them I obviously was able to eliminate. The Opera thread has 186+ pages, and while I would love to have the time to slog through it, even a search of it yielded no results for my particular predicament.
A hint on approximately which one of those many pages would be appreciated.
Ok,
(Before those that have nothing to do start shouting, I have searched! I spend hours last night looking and time this morning looking. This error is NOT related to a googlemail/gmail switch..it is NOT related to internet connection..it is NOT related to some obscure cache issue [i think]. So now that caveate is out of the way....)
I cannot download anything from the Market. Here is the process as I see it...
- Open Market app from phone
- Find app I want and click download
- Go back to main Market screen and click download tab
- App sits there with a 'starting download process'
Now...if the error is somewhere there...can someone please tell me.
But...a few minutes later I get this...
- Alert noise goes off
- Alert says Google Talk authentication failed
- Go and stop the app in the running apps screen
- Find GTalk app on phone and start it up
- It hangs up on the Talk bubble screen with Signing in swirly thing just going round
- Eventually that alert noise goes off again
So...there seems to have been an issue many months back when UK customers switched from googlemail domains to gmail domains. But I have never had either. I am registered with google and I have one of my personal emails set up on that account. I can log into google, I can use Picasa, I can use the forums, etc.
Now, I already have three different email accounts to keep track of...do not need a fourth. But in a fit of desperation I tried to set up a gmail account last night. After 30 minutes of trying to find a user name I gave up. I do not want to be D.sablesurfer.432456 or whatever stupid azz suggestion it gives.
So...things I am wondering...
Is Google Talk integrated with Market somehow?
Can you just use Market with a regular Google log in?
How do I make google talk work since there appears to be no where on phone to change any settings?
Where is google talk looking on my phone for log in information?
Does this have anything to do with the weird sprint email address that seems to be registered to my phone? (Current username = [email protected]) (Obviously where my name would be my real name.)
Please help, the internet has been wholey useless in showing me an answer to this issue.
Oh...and if I log into google web page from phone...and choose Talk from the more menu...
....I am logged into Talk!!!
Yep, it just pulls right up with no complaints.
Ok, lots of looks no feedback.
I stopped by Sprint today and they say basically that my really old Google log in will not work. They said will need to set up an actual GMail account and replace it on the phone.
HOWEVER....there is NO way to replace it without the factory reset. Seriously? Has the Evo or HTC...or Sprint locked this thing down so much that you can never change accounts?
I changed password online...and the incorrect password screen ONLY lets me change password. The account name is greyed out.
I went into Manage Applications and the only button active is the Force Stop. The Clear Data button doesn't even exist. And after the force stop it still does not exist.
How does this make any sense? Really? People are NEVER going to change accounts? Sounds way too strict to me at moment.
So basically...unless anyone else has an idea...on the Evo (not heros or g1's)...I will have to do the factory reset tonight? This sucks.
Have you tried settings, accounts and sync, click on the google account and hit remove account?
Yup, no go. The default in the Evo seems to be permanently locked in. Well until you do the factory reset. I just posted my findings/tip over on general. This is a pisser for a newbie to android and as a LONG time programmer sucks to be locked in like that.
My market was useless earlier.
the name###@sprintpcs.com is just sprints username for you, it's used for network stuff
I'm having the same issue. tired the google search too ... wish I didn't have to do a hard reset... I hope somebody come up with a fix for this
EDIT:
Here's all that I did. I'm not sure which part fixed the issue.
*I un-synced Gmail (still didn't work)
*I deleted the pop Gmail account I had set up (still didn't work)
*I went into the market, canceled everything that was pending a download, then I re-synced Gmail, and set my pop Gmail account back up and BAM!!!! It worked. (Oh and I restarted after I did all of this)
Hope this helps...
Same problem here, hope someone with great idea can help. I am also struck on my HTC evo
Market still won't downlaod
I'm on JI6,
i have this problem that i cannot get the Market to download.
I didn't see and end to this story, only that it could be a Market problem.
But still i have this issue now for 3 days, i did most of the things in this thread.
nothing works ...
HELP
This happens to everyone.
Go to applications.
Click all applications.
Find market. Click market.
Click, clear cache, and clear data.
Restart.
I'm over that, clear the data of download manager ,and from the Market application, removed the update from the market , wifi on , wifi off .....
Still wont download
Then it's your internet if that does not work.
Check your firewall
what firewall , if i work in 3G ?
I'm having the same problem...I just flashed Myn's 2.2 RL3 and it is no different than it ever was. It's pissing me off. I've tried every solution that I could find.
I was having a similar issue with my Evo running OMJ's 4.5.
On the market.android.com site I would click install, select my phone, and it said my install would start shortly, but it never did. I scoured the net and found a fix that worked for me. Try this:
Menu -> Settings -> Appplicaltions -> Manage Applications
Select the 'All' tab
Scroll down and open 'Google Services Framework' -> Clear Data and Force Stop
Hit back and open 'Market' -> Clear Data, Clear Cache (if available), and Force Stop
Reboot
Open Market. You are going to get an error, be patient and let it sit for a moment and it will come up by itself.
You should be golden after this. Let me know how it works for you.
Why must people resurrect dead threads, do they lack the ability to read, the last post to this thread was in the first week of november, if this was still happening, this would be an active thread.
Context:
Verizon Galaxy Nexus, Stock ROM, Android 4.1.1.
When I check in Settings...Accounts...Google...
It shows a Sync Error for my account. At the bottom of the screen it says:
Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly.
If I then click on my [email protected]
All of the entries are checked and properly synced, and up to date, except Contacts. It says 'Last Synced 4/20/2012..."
Despite this, Contact additions or edits that I make on my phone do in fact get synced to my other devices. And Contact additions or edits that I make elsewhere do get synced to my phone.
So, this appears to be a faulty error message. Since everything is working right, I'm reluctant to do anything major to try and clear the message, for fear of actually creating a functional problem. And yet, it bugs me that it's there.
One of the frequently suggested solutions is to go to Settings...Apps...Contacts Storage...
And once there, hit "Clear Data".
So my question is what exactly happens when "Clear Data" is hit? I want to eliminate the potential for inadvertently deleting my contacts overall, don't want to create new problems, etc., so would like a little more information about what this does or doesn't do.
And, if someone has any insight on another way to get rid of this message, that would be appreciated as well.
Thanks!
Anybody have any information here??
Thanks.
Try this
Hi, i face the same problem. After few hrs search in Internet, I found a way to solve it, so far it works.
Go to Google Play and install this apps: Contacts Sync Fix
Run the apps
Go to setting, open Google account and try to sync again.
It should be OK then.
Hope it helps.

Very interesting! Looks like it just came out this month. This is an incredibly common problem, if you read Google's "support" forums, which I find hard to believe how this is such a core function of the whole Google enterprise.
I wonder what this App is doing behind the scenes, or actually how it does it. All of the reviews so far are very positive, although there are only 11 of them at this time. I'll probably monitor this for a bit, and then try it out.
Thanks!
I exchanged a quick email with the Author, and went ahead and installed and ran the Contacts Sync Fix App. It identified a single problem, fixed it, and my error message is now gone, and sync continues to work fine. I went ahead and bought the ad-free version for $.99 - I have no idea if a problem will recur in the future, but I'll now be able to fix it. And besides, he fixed something Google has been unable or unwilling to do!
This solved my same problem
Download contacts fix app from android play market

I use this feature all the time but after i clean wiped my phone now it either pulls up 3 businesses with home in the name or it will pull up 2 contacts that happen to have home in the title. Not sure why it isn't working right. Telling it to navigate to work still works correctly.
I already have my home set in the google app and in google maps.

For myself, I say "OK Google, how do I get to home". Tells me how long it will currently take and I just need to tap navigate icon.

Here's what i found...
I have read about this problem so many places and seen so many solutions - none of which worked for me.
Today - I finally found out where my "work" and "home" were stuck and preventing navigate to... from working for these locations. Short form - they were stuck in my Google+ account, but NOT in the places category. It was my contact settings for home and work. They were set to blank in my Google plus profile. It didn't matter that I had them set in my phone. It didn't matter that I had them set in Google Maps (both on Android and on the web). Caches - meaningless. In the end, it came down to the fact that those values were blank in my Google+ account - THAT is what stopped the service from working.
Thank me if I helped.

? Yeah I think I used to try that too and noticed it didn't work one time. Then I realized in a Google commercial they would say "How do I get to..." and gave that a try instead. So I just use that most of the time.

Go to google plus on your browser Click on your profile. (This is from my phone, mind you) click on the info button on the rightside (the circle lettered "i").
Your location should be stored there (make sure its private). Next turn off your accounts sync on your phone and then back on. Accounts/Google turn off on everything and then back on.
Installing a larger package of google apps fixed the navigation problem for me. It seems in the nano or smaller package some essentiell voice things are missing.
I have trouble getting my 300MB Notebook to to sync, Does anybody have a workaround or a tip?
I still couldn't set it up properly.
Just a little more info might help us.
What happens when you try to sync?
Are you on wifi or on 3g?
What is the behaviour you expect?
Have you tried syncing a small notebook?
Have you tried creating a new notebook just on the device and syncing that?
I use OneNote all the time and have no issues at all. My notebooks are rather large, too. Perhaps if we know what it is doing instead of syncing we could help you out.
My Bad, Thanks for the prompt response guys..
The Syncing never finishes. It's been two days now. I even put it for one full day.
Worst part is in this new version of OneNote I cant see the sync progress. Earlier version, there was an option to see which section is syncing and how many are more left on the notification bar. So I'd know if it gets stuck somewhere, there's a problem with a page. But in the new version, no notification appears. Since guys seem to be doing alright, it might be something on the device. My laptop syncs perfectly, and only the note 7 gave this problem now.
