While trying to get Web and MMS on my metro flashed TP2 I accidently changed the MSID, which I later realized i wasn't supposed to do. Anyways I can't get internet without it and i've tried doing a hard reset, flashing back to stock ROM and of course i've googled it but couldn't find it. Is there anyway to restore the EPST to default? Or does anyone know the default sprint MSID? Any help is appreciated.

First of, please do not open new threads with questions. There is a Q&A thread in this forum for that purpose. Opening threads should only be done for contributions to the site (roms, kitchens, apps, themes, etc)
Second, you are in the wrong section altogether. This is for the Touch and not the Touch Pro 2.
Third, your MSID is s number that you can get (and have to get) from Sprint customer support if you didn't write it down before. There is no default msid as it is specific for the account.
Hope all this helps.

I've been reading up on this upgrade, and I'm very interested. The only thing is, if I do this, will it unlock my phone and if my phone unlocks, will it still work with my phone insurance? Also, were there any problems after doing this with MMS that I can fix if I were to encounter any? I've read people having problems with MMS afterwards and I use it pretty frequently so I don't want that to be like messed up. Thanks in advance for any replies.
With regards to insurance if your on about your carrier then you just flash back to the original ROM, with regards to MMS issues i'm baffled as it's simple to set up and with thousands on thousands of users with no issues there seems to be a small ammount of users with issues, you can set up automatically via connection setup or even input all the info manually if you wish.
The ammount of extra you get with WM6.1 i bet that once flashed you will never want to see WM6 anywhere... And if not you just flash back to stock ROM.

First things first, you need to sda app unlock. Click on the link , go to post no.4 , download zip and follow what the post says.
http://www.spv-developers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=486
Second, The phone companies don't like it when you install unofficial roms on their phones, you can also find an official rom in the forum to place in your phone later if needed.
Third, some problems happen to some phones,it doesn't mean that you'll have the mms problem, but let me tell you something about this forum, we have the coolest people and they'll always help you when you need it. specially Stylez.

Good luck
My phone is showing that I have a voicemail, but I have erased all of my VMs. This started yesterday, and I have reset my phone as well as re-installed the ROM and the message won't go away.
Does anybody have any idea how to fix this?
There are a number of threads on this in here already. Try a search. Also, more descriptive thread titles are better.
*I wouldn't have posted this if I didn't search first.
Don't worry about it though because I fixed it.
Thanks for the help!
Does anyone know if we need to Unroot this phone before we can transfer a number on to it?
I bought the new HTC EVO LTE and I want to give this phone to my daughter who has a Samsung Moment (still). I will unroot if I have to but just wondered if anyone already knew or tried this.

Historically yes. On my Evo 4g and Hero they had to be running stock for sprint to change the number. Unsure on E4GT but better to take it in unrooted just to be "safe".
You'd probably be OK as long as its on something stock touchwiz even if its rooted.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk
No you don't need to unroot if you do it yourself. Make sure both phones are turned off and the "new" phone has had a factory reset done beforehand. You can do it yourself online on sprint's site if you log into your account. If you have problems, you can get online chat with customer service too. Don't tell them that anything is rooted and don't act like you know a thing or two about phones. It shouldn't be a problem as long as you are on a mostly stock gb rom. This is in case they need to tell you to enter a code in the dialer screen to do a reset or change primary or secondary phone numbers or other misc things. No sweat.
Ok, here's the thing. I dropped my SGS2 into a drink. it was 99% covered. pulled the battery dried it off and it was buggy for 2 days but now every thing appears to be ok.
except it won't let me Factory reset/wipe data.
the option is there but when I select it, the phone just boots me out to the previous screen.
it does let me wipe the cache...
I even re-installed the Recovery and tried again.
side note: after the drink incident the yellow triangle went away on it's own.
Download an app called "Get My MSL", and write down the 6 digit code that app kicks out.
In the dialer enter ##786#, and this will take you to the reset screen. Hit menu, then reset, and enter in the MSL code they gave you. This will do the same as a data wipe / cache wipe, but will also clear your NVRAM, which is where your programming info is stored.
You can perform the device swap on your own on Sprint's website.
You will never need to unroot your phone.
No unroot needed like others have told you but you just need to be on a stock rom so that the ## codes will work when you are prompted to use them. Other than that you will be fine I have done it a million times online and never unrooted to swap esn

Everybody's on a custom rom in here...LOL
I was running Android Syndicate. I downloaded a stock ROM. and tried to transfer via the Sprint web site. Everything was fine until it told me I needed to pick a new phone plan.
I then opened a chat window and the associate transferred the number and add the the $10 fee to the account instead of picking a new plan.
my daughter is setting it up now and is very happy.
thank you all for your help and I hope this helps anyone else in this situation.
I now have an HTC EVO LTE so I will not be checking back in over here. Have fun!!!

Why mobile odin and then flashing el26cwm is simple and agat has made it pretty easy to get his nicely themed stock rom working on your phone. Hey do whats safe for you but I would say most are on custom roms in here especially with the loads of choices now out there for us.

Frequently Asked Questions
T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy SIII SGH-T999
This a short list of frequently asked questions in this device forum and the answers often given as a response. It should serve as a starting point for gathering knowledge and finding solutions to many common problems. Please only post in this thread with feedback on how to improve this document. Do not post "Thank you" type responses. If you have additional questions or require more help, try to find an existing thread or create your own. Do not use this as a general help thread.
Q1: How do I root this thing? Here are the two most popular methods:root66....ToolKit. Refer to the threads for instructions.
Q2: How to I enter Download Mode and Recovery?Make sure your phone is unplugged and powered off.
Download Mode: Hold Volume down, home and power until you see the green dude.
Recovery: Hold Volume up, home and power. Once your phone vibrates, let go of just the power button.
Q3: What is this 'Flash Counter' everybody is talking about?Your phone's flash counter is triggered when it detects custom firmwares. This is Samsung's way of knowing that you have modded your device. But thanks to the awesome people at XDA, there are ways around this. Refer to This Thread.
Q4: Why does my phone sit at the Samsung logo after I flashed a ROM?The most common cause of this is not properly wiping your device prior to flashing. It can also be caused from flashing a mod that won't work with your current setup. But whatever the reason was, it can be fixed by wiping data, cache, and dalvik cache in recovery.
Q5: Why is my phone restarting itself? And why does my screen turn on by itself? There have been numerous reports of faulty power buttons causing this to happen. More than likely this is your issue, but it wouldn't hurt to Odin back to stock and see if the issue is resolved.
Q6: Can I accept an OTA update even though my phone is rooted? The only way you can accept an OTA update if you are rooted, is if you have stock recovery and your device status is "normal." If those two things apply to you, then search for the app called "OTA Root Keeper." If you cannot accept the OTA, refer to the root66 thread linked to in Q1.
Q7: Why do I need to wipe my data every time I flash a ROM?This is to ensure that nothing is left over from your previous ROM that will interfere (cause issues) with the new ROM. It is always best to fully wipe between ROM's. It will take a lot less time to set up your phone than it will to troubleshoot issues, then have to wipe anyways.
Q8: What is the best ROM/Kernel/Modem for this phone?Nobody can answer this question for you, so please refrain from asking it. Each person has their own personal preferences and wants/needs. No phones are created equal, therefore one person might have an issue whereas the next person does not. The best thing to do is read the OP of each thread to see which one has the features you want, read the last 10 or so pages of the thread to see how things are going, then TRY IT! Here is a good starting point.
Q9: Why is my battery dying so fast? There are many factors that play into this. First of all, if you just flashed a ROM, give it 2-3 charge cycles before judging battery life as it can take a while to settle. The next step is to download a battery monitoring app, such as GSam Battery Monitor, to see exactly what is draining your battery. Refer to this thread for tips on how to extend battery life.
Q10: People have been complaining that they hear echoing when talking to me on the phone, why?Go into your call settings and enable noise reduction. If that does not help, refer to the threads for your current ROM and/or kernel as it may be a known issue.
Q11: How do I return my phone to 100% stock unrooted, with a zero flash counter?Refer to this thread.
Q12: What is ADB and how do I use it?
[GUIDE] ADB Workshop and Guide for everyone
Q13: Why don't I have signal? Why is my IMEI gone?Refer to this thread to fix your IMEI and restore 4G. Be sure to follow ALL steps.
Q14: When will this phone receive an update? What about a new phone coming out?Find discussion on these topics here and here.
Q15: I have searched everywhere and still can't find an answer to my question..?Have you really searched everywhere? Google? Asked in the thread of which your question pertains to? Read the stickies? If you have honestly spent more than 5-10 minutes searching for an answer, post a new thread in the q&a section.

For sure! It will always be an incomplete project as things change & new things come out. Shoot me a PM if you would like to help expand the OP.
This is key. It should be utilized by everyone in the threads. This is also not exclusive to the T999 section. Well the material is exclusive but the format will be across many different devices and sections.
As mt3g said it will never be complete, but as long as Users help and guide, we can hopefully reduce the amount of redundant threads popping up.

Regarding recovery mode... I think this is specific to d2tmo... But when doing the three button combo to get to recovery, you hold volume up, home, and power... UNTIL THE DEVICE VIBRATES, then you RELEASE THE POWER BUTTON ONLY. When the sgs3 splash screen appears, you can release the other two buttons. It works EVERY time
Great thread idea towle

You can also let go of all buttons and it works the same. I say it can take a couple of tries so users don't automatically post a new thread when it doesn't work the first time.
And I believe the phone only vibrates if you're doing it while powered on.
I threw up a bunch of tags on this thing this morning. Hopefully when they search or try to start a new thread, this thread will pop up as a suggestion. Bout to do that same thing to mt3g's Illusion thread.
Thanks for this.

99% of the time random or constant reboots are generally caused by a corrupted download of a rom or a dirty flash.
So download the rom again and make sure you do a clean flash.
Always do a factory reset-format system-wipe cache-wipe dalvik cache in recovery before flashing any rom.
After doing this your phone should not have a reboot issue.
If it still has a reboot issue then that means you need to Odin flash a stock rooted firmware.
Here is the link to the firmware in case you need it: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390169635556426451
Here is the link for Odin in case you do not have it: http://d-h.st/Q14

Have a few random questions....running carbon 1.6 on t999 (d2tmo)
1) is kt747 compatible with carbon 1.6 on tmo?
2) what is all included in "android system" and what about that causes it to waste so much time in backup/restore?

If the phone is really unlocked, flashing a ROM will not re-lock it.
So instead of going into recovery mode to apply the mms gingerbread fix for cricket, I copy and pasted it right over the system apk. couldn't find where telephony was to copy and paste, so then got the idea of using recovery and applied the mms gingerbread.zip in recovery mode. now im getting an error and force close every time i try and open up messaging. Any help would be massively appreciated. Further help to get mms working after reading all the thread and trying multipul different mods to get it to work would be even more appreciated. Maybe posting up the original mms.apk file the phone comes with would solve the problem?

After flashing and rooting my phone i tried 3 different custom roms. 1st cyanbread i think its called, i didn't like it at first cause it was a little confusing but all features of the phone worked. Then i tried slimbean, messaging did not work, then tried evio, messaging, contacts, and phone all cause system errors and wouldn't work.
Does anyone know if my phone is messed up or if its just bugs in the roms?

Unfortunately, those are not just bugs. I do not have Cricket, so I'm not sure how to fix this, but you can try the following:
1. Go into recovery. (Hopefully you have Amon-RA, if not you can still try this.)
2. Wipe everything.
3. Put a nice rom on your sd card, and go into recovery and flash.
4. Do whatever you need to do so Cricket will work, but make sure you follow the instructions exactly as in the OP or video.
Post back and let me know what happens. Otherwise, private message @jlmancuso or @Wambo_Bomb -- I believe they have Cricket.

Thank you so much for the quick responce. I am running cyanogenmod Tom and though there's alot I like, there's alot I don't. Forexsaplei think its absurd they've intergrated 2 launchers, (adw and legacey) (adw, seems to be a resource hog )into it where they can't be easily removed and the launcher of my choosing put on. Or the fact that I can't easily go into diagnisticmode for qpst. Honestly I'd rather keep the HTC sense Tom as that's what was made specifically for the phone, however as said mms fixes or any other rom will cause forceclose errors. I already tried what you described above, so I guess I'm stuck with cyanogen until I can figure a fix.
Once again thanks for the quick responce that was not sarcastic and containing more info than, "Google it" I see that alot on here n most people are brought to this forum from Googling their problems. As a person new to programing and flashing phonesits frusterating to see that. If you don't want to answer then don't respond. No need to belittle someone or tease them with, "I could help you but I'm better than that."

Hmm. Well, sorry I couldn't help you. Please try private messaging @Wambo_Bomb or @jlmancuso . They have Cricket and will be able to help you better either way.
