HTC OEM Extended Battery Tilt2 - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I just received my htc oem extended battery and I placed it in and there are no notification lights while charging. Now It is charging while powered on and I can see that in the taskbar above with battery icon, but as far as the hardware light(red or green depending on status) it is not lighting up at all. I know its probably not a rom issue since its an extended battery, but it is the only htc oem extended battery made specifically for the tilt 2. While the phone is off I cannot til if its charging so if there is anything I can do to try and correct it please let me know.

"HTC OEM extended battery"? I have never heard of this. Exactly what brand is this battery and where did you buy it? A lot of battery makers slap the "HTC OEM" label on their batteryies, but they are NOT OEM or HTC.
***EDIT***
OK, I found out that the AT&T ships has an OEM larger battery. Is this the standard shipped battery, or does one have to buy it?

I actually reported my battery because it died and wouldnt recharge. Thats the one they sent me. Genuine HTC Branded Extended Battery Replacement. It doesnt come with the back battery cover though. The old one doesnt fit. Its 19.99 for the battery cover. I think to buy the battery its 49.99 on AT&t's Site.

Oh, OK. I've seen that one for sale. How thick is the replacement cover?

I havent received it yet..heres a link! http://www.amazon.com/HTC-Extended-Battery-Cover-74H01529-01M/dp/B002Y1Z2EC

I have been using the HTC OEM Extended Battery for the past month. Other than longer battery life and the thicker case, I can detect no difference. The charging light still lights properly. I am running the official AT&T/HTC ROM.
Peter

That just may be the prob because of the custom rom.

Best Battery for prophet

Looks like my main battery for O2 XDA NEO is dying, maybe WM6 is eating more of my battery power. Now I want to get a replacement battery. Besides the factory type isnt there a newer version and holds more charge too? Not sure about reliability, if anyone can share some of their experinces will be great.

Batteries with Extanded Covers ... THEY SUCKS!
The Cover is crap!
The 1800mAh isnt easy to find ... i think its the best Batterie in the moment. If HTC make a extanded batterie kit ... buy it! I have a Startrek with new Coverer and the Quality is very high!
Do you have a link or a pic of the battery? why the extanded covers sucks can you explain that?

you destroy your phone's beauty and also many times the covers are not exactly the same color but enough in order to see the differece also many times they dont completly fit

My friends and I are using the 1800mAh batteries from this seller http://search.stores.ebay.com.au/SO...dgetsQQfsooZ2QQfsopZ2QQsaselZ30323434QQsofpZ0
Comparing to my one year old 1200mAh original battery the results were obvious. I could get more than 90 hours of standby with a few mins of call each day. Something I couldn't have thought of with a PocketPC phone.
It's been about 5 months since my purchase, the battery is still good. I heard from others that non-genuine battery tend to have shortened lifespan in just a few months.
Only about 3 to 5 grams heavier and 1mm thicker (which leaves no space between the back cover and the battery) if you do notice these minute differences. It's crucial that the battery won't make your Prophet any thicker!
My only complain was, if you asked, that it took almost a week for the delivery. Otherwise I'm happy with it.

forgot to say, battery is not heating up at all - I left it on charge for 3 or 4 hours last night and nothing - however, residual charge is actually powering the PDA so there is life in there. Must be the chip that reports on battery condition and charge etc.
Also, I have tried both in 3 different PDA (m600's) and same problem. One phone has an 1800mah battery purchased from ebay and that looks exactly the same but works fine - so it's not as if the PDA can't handle non-standard size.
Hope this helps.

dont buy the extended battery

i recently bought a extended battery with cover off of the official VZW online store. the battery worked great for about a day until the battery life ran out, then i tried to charge it and now it just started randomly shutting off on me even when the phone said i had about 60% battery remaining. so i left it in the charger over night and now it wont even turn on at all until i put in the regular battery. so i ordered a new one and you know what happened? the exact same problem occured with this battery to. it worked fine for a day, then it ran out of juice and completely stopped working.
so here is my warning to all of you. DO NOT BUY THE EXTENDED BATTERY. it is complete garbage and does not work at all. dont waste your time or money on it because you will for sure have the same problems i did. i am now stuck with 2 non working extended batterys that i need to send back to verizon to get my money back.
I was having crazy issues with my batter acouple nights ago. I never let my phone completely die but it happened this sat. I put it onthe charger then when I tried to turn the phone on the battery meter went from 0% to 5% to 60% then I unplugged it and tried turning it on to no luck... thereafter I put it on the charger and waited for it to get to about 15% and turned it on while still plugged into the wall and it started up. I let the battery charge full and the phone began working like normal.
I am on leaked 2.2, with rubix rom and o/c'd 1.15 and on stock battery
I have 2 stock batteries that I swap daily. If you let the phone die completely you can't turn it back on until you've charged the battery to at least 5%. Sometimes when I swap a battery from a fully charged to one that's about 15% to recharge, it says it's at 60%. Not sure why, but it sounds like the phone's software looks at the readings and says to itself, "there's no way I can go from 100% to 15% when I shut down and rebooted." I'm sure it's just the software being stupid.
I've had the extended battery since I bought the phone about a month ago, never had a single problem with it and my battery life is great...
I bought the extended battery when they became available, and have not had a problem with it. Knock wood
Love my extended battery. No issues here.

No issues with my extended battery either. In fact, I regularly get 30 - 36 hours out of it!!
Extended here too, no problems whatsoever since it was released. The issue I have is the motorola cases not fitting.
Had I known this, I would have bought the Siedo extended battery instead.

I just bought 1 of the hard cases from verizon and it's allllmmost perfect. No problems whatsoever except for that the 1 spot above the charging port will not stay snapped. i got my extended battery last night. I let it charge for 12 hours for the first time and I hope that helps it. I kind of believe that that is some peoples problem. they don't let it charge long enough the first time. I let it charge 10 to 12 hours and then let it die all the way the first 2 or 3 charge cycles. Then I usually plug it in once It gets down to 15 percent and every 10 or so charge cycles I let it die completely. I can't wait for the seidio 2800 mah battery. Is there any news on a release date? I had the 3500mah battery for the incredible and it was spectacular. I use the phone so much that the standard battery only lasts 3-5hrs but the seidio innocell lasted 1.5 days. A huggggeeee upgrade. But I couldn't find a reasonible case afterwards so I kinda put my silicone case on and traced around the new battery cover with a boxcutter to make it fit. Afterwards I melted the edges with a lighter to smooth them and prevent splitting. The DInc seidio extended case doesn't cover the bat door anyway. Not to mention it doesn't even cover half the edges. I sure hope they design a bettr case for the DX cuz I love their batteries are the best

Are you using the Moto charger?
I had similar problems with my first extended battery for the Droid X. However Verizon replaced it, and there has been no problem since.
As for incompatibility with cases, I use the snap on clear case from Verizon. Had problems with it not wanting to stay snapped together. After modifications to the case failed to correct the issue, I removed the battery cover completely. No issues anymore.
Plus since I use the clear case, I have a nice nerdy view from the back.

I received my Extended Battery two days ago. I love it! It holds significantly more power. And I can still use my Body Glove Droid X cover with the Extended Battery and included battery cover.
Anyway... I rate my extended battery experience as 10 out of 10.
I cant say I noticed to much of an increase but i'm back and forth with modding and o/c so I know lots of that goes into play with battery times.. right now i'm on an UV and I can easily go into a 2nd work day without needing a charge.

Yes...extended battery didn't make a bit of difference...it made a HUGE difference.
It is barely noticeable in size...fits in the multi-media dock, no probelm with my hybrid TPU case...and lasts quite a bit longer.
Or maybe I should say...gets me through to where if I did run out of juice...I'm at home with a charger. Either way...I'm good from 6am to 6pm at least. (i dont call anyone btw). Just massive amounts of texting and web.
I have had mine for almost 2 months and it works great. I deffinitely notice a difference from the stock battery. Would by again if I had to do it all over.

It's good to post your experience, however don't you think a sample of one device and two batteries doesn't qualify as a crappy accessory? I've been running an extended battery since it came out with great results. As a matter of fact a week ago I tried to go back to the standard battery just to make sure the improvement wasn't in my head and the difference was at least 3 hours.
So assuming you aren't frightened at the prospect of returning a battery if it doesn't work for you, go ahead and get one. For a very modest bump in weight it adds a lot of life.

Don't buy the extended battery
I also bought the extended battery from Verizon. It works fine except for a small problem. The built-in battery monitor some times complains that I have installed a non-compatible battery or something like that and suggests that I replace it with the original. A question mark "?" shows up in the status bar and the battery level is not reported correctly.
I picked up "Juice Defender" and paid for the pro model. It says that in last 48 hours It has multiplied battery life by X1.73. I also downloaded an app called "battery Status" which shows the percentage of battery left. Lots of nice options for display.
So what did I do with my original battery? Hmmm I noticed that it is fairly thin so I stuck it in my wallet. Since the ram is non-destructive, I can change the battery when it gets low.
All in all I am very happy with the "Extended Battery" I got from Verizon.

Battery Choices

So, I have been looking all over the various stores (Sprint, Radio Shack, Ebay, Seidio), I bought a standard battery (the same mAh as my stock battery). The battery I purchased has about the same batter life (as expected about 6-9 hours depending upon usage of games and data) Looking over the extended life battery options I dont quite understand the claims.
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/bacy35hev4-bk.htm
This is a 3500mAh battery and has "double the capacity of the original battery"
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/basi17hev4.htm
This is a 1750mAh battery, it's not listed the capacity.. but my stock battery is 1500mAh so it cannot be by much.
http://cgi.ebay.com/3500mAh-Extende...Accessories&hash=item483d837c7f#ht_4076wt_905
This is a 3500mAh battery, it comes with a battery cover I would imagine that it's similar to the Seidio battery as far as in the capacity
has anyone tried the extended batteries off of ebay, do they work well.. and do the battery covers hold up well?
Any suggestions of extending battery life? I keep my wifi turned off, dimmed my screen, and a few other things.
Right now I am thinking of just getting a battery charger and just swapping between the two batteries.. it would just be a hassle taking my case and battery cover on and off every day.
check out http://batteryboss.org/ first to see where those batteries really stand.
there is also an 1800 mah at http://www.htcexpress.com/ that was supposedly tested to be 1700 mah.
that woud make it the best battery around, but i bought one and it seemed worse than the stock battery.
sprint also now has a 2600 mah with extended back. i don't know if anyone has tested it yet.
i purchased the ebay 3500mah with cover and also the OEM HTC extended battery for the TP2
HTC model no. RHOD170
. works great and according to battery boss it is the best extended battery ratings wise.
i got the battery for OEM HTC extended battery for18 bucks on ebay. so you have have two batteries and a better looking cover for half the price of the seidio battery.
however, i cant seem to get the battery status to show up correctly on the oem battery display but it does show up on "battery status" app

Extended battery

Saw some screenshots of the accessories page for phone, but no obvious modified battery cover for that extended battery. Maybe it's just not shown, but was a worry for me previously with the possibly battery guzzling issues of the phone. Any hard info yet on how the extended battery fits in?
If you read the copy in the screenshot of the desktop multimedia dock it states "Fits with extended battery"
That would lead me to believe it will be like any other phone with an large extended life battery... you will need a different phone back and will not work with standard cases.
Just my thoughts though.
Seidio makes a thin extended battery that works in the standard compartment, however its only 200ma larger than stock.

The VZW 2750 is branded HTC
Do you have a link for this?
Order it from vzw customer service, they just added it to my bill

You can also pick up the extended battery from a corporate VZW store. I picked mine up yesterday.
$37 for the 2750 battery with corp discount, however I have had great success with $10 2600 extended batteries from ebay with my Incredible. One of them lasts just as long as my official HTC 2600 battery. Something to keep in mind.
Had to order the ext batt at the store for delivery to my house, but he said then that there was a new back, and about double the life.
If you think about it, because the back door is only the top 2/3 of the phone, the TBolt should still fit in a "dock" with the fat battery because the bottom 1/3 of the phone doesn't get thicker.
With the USB connector not being on the bottom, is it really a "dock" or just a holder (i.e. plugging it into the dock doesn't plug in the cable at the same time)?

Can anyone just take a picture of both battery doors with their shiny, new thunderbolt? Thanks =)

I'm on my second day with the Thunderbolt and his morning I decided to put in the extended battery from VZW. So far it really handles well when it comes to lasting the work day. I need to not allow the battery to drain completely to zero.
Only down is how hefty it makes the phone (I knew it would) and the added bulk is really adding the top light grey layer on top of the back (I've seen more bulky batteries in the past, only with it could of been a cover that takes up the entire back and not make a hump)

[Q] Is there better way to solve extended battery problem?

HI
I will get my TB in next few days. (thank god, I finally get rid of my Droid 2)
the more thread I read, more thoughts in my mind. So I need some good advice.
I'm a real heavy user. (surf on net, GPS nevigation......etc)
I want to extend the time I use my TB. So I'm going to get some extended batteries for sure. BUT problem is.....what kind of batteries is good for me?
OEM batteries or seidio brand? And what Mah should I get?
Does oem batteries cause bad influence? (like my TB wont have normal function in the future)
And If I get some extended batteries, I will get the cover for it as well.
Will it cause the signal reception?
Yep, I know my problem is dumb. Cause I can't really accept any smart phone can't last a full day sage. (like my droid 2)
I use the HTC 2750 battery, and i get through all day fine. on light usage i get down to about %70 on heavy down to %40ish.
Be weary of OEM batteries with extended covers, ive heard some do not have the antenna built in. The radio signal antenna is located in that cover, so if you get one that is missing the antenna, you will have no service.
I would recommend the HTC extended battery.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
To the OP - I've been using the HTC b2750 and case for a while, but I'm getting tired of its bulk and switching back to the stock phone battery and a spare.
With the TBolt and most of my other phones, I just slip a spare stock sized battery into the pocket of my wallet and swap batteries mid-day if I'm not any place where I can get some boost charges during the day. The batteries on the Thunderbolt are very thin; I really don't notice one in my wallet.

Doesn't OEM mean "Original Equipment Manufacturer"? That would mean an OEM product is one made by HTC, whether it's sold under HTC's name or another 3rd party's brand name.
Either way, the advice is sound, make sure you're getting a quality product that has all the working parts. I recently bought some 3rd party spare batteries for the Nexus S that were labelled as 1400mah (like the OEM) but when you peeled off the 3rd party label the batteries were only 1100mmah! Always buy from a reputable dealer.
I wear a clip holster and bought the extended battery along with the seidio extended battery case. Perfect match up for me.
Sent from my ThunderBolt using XDA App
I would choose the OEM HTC extended battery. I have it now and I get by all day on it. Usually by 10 pm, I'm around 30%.
I've had a Seidio extended battery for the Incredible and wasn't impressed by it. I believe it was the 1750 mah? While the stock was around 1400, I couldn't tell a difference between the two.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
The best thing you could do is to root it and run dad bamf stripped v1.1. I use the stock kernel and get 2 to 3 times the battery life as stock, Imoseyon's lean kernel with battery saver may even give better battery life but I haven't tried it yet.
I'm going back and forth between the Seidio 3200 and the HTC 2750. I think I'm going to get the HTC 2750 battery tomorrow... I just hate the face that after spending $250 on a phone I have to spend another $50 to get close to the battery life specs posted on HTC and VZW's websites...
Most people in this section will say get the HTC battery. I'm actually going to probably get a mugen power slim battery. I've been looking up on them and they seem to be pretty good.

If you are a heavy user, you will love the 2750 HTC Extended battery, I got it, would say i'm a moderate to heavy user, and i can get 30-40 hours out of it. I love it
I initially didn't like the bulk of the 2750 extended battery especially after putting the seidio active case on it but after playing around with the stock battery I now prefer the contour fit in my hand with the extended battery. The biggest downsize now is the weight. This thing is heavy but well worth the weight.
My advice is to order it from verizon. Call up and request a discounted price, I paid 20 for mine.
Sent through the interwebs.
I would go with the HTC 2750.... I got it and it comes with the contacts for antenna
1700 battery
I ordered a 1700 battery that fits in orignal back. It is coming in the mail tomorrow. I'll let everyone know the results...
Do not use trash batteries. Stick with OEM batteries made by HTC. The 2750mah battery is fine.
I purchased a 3500 battery from Amazon with the cover and it does NOT have the antenna in the cover. I get a 3G signal but no 4G. Sending it back today.
i got one on ebay for $10, the pictures indicated it has the metal contacts in the battery cover. hong kong express mail, delivery july 15th at the soonest -_____-
OEM 2750 for sure. Like some of the other people in this thread have stated, third party batteries just have risks associated with them, and the potential benefits usually aren't worth it.
But if you do decide that the OEM one is too much, just make sure you don't get the ebay offbrand batteries. Most ebay batteries that are advertised as "extended" and sound too good to be true (i.e., 3 batteries at 1800mAh + charger for < $20) usually are, and have actually less capacity than stock.
After a few days.......
I start with stock battery in the beginning.
Gingeritis rom installed. Battery was really bad for first 2 days.
Lost 10% per hour.That's bad.
After 2 full days usage, battery life gets better, It can last half day.
Today. I got my htc oem battery from verizon.
Amazing battery life. 100% for sure.
I think there should be no problem with battery life now.
My TB is really great now.
the reason why I choose 2750 battery is you guys can see that the cover get more dmg with times you open (switch battery). So I deside not to open it too often. I think it is a right choice now.
BTW, before you go to eaby, go to verizon store, give them your accout to check discount. ebay doesnt mean the lowest price. I got my battery+cover with 40+tax.
or you can save some money and just buy a bunch of cheaper batteries off of amazon or ebay, they will be the same capacity as the standard battery but you will have more
