Hello everyone.
I have strange problem.
I have 2 days new HTC Desire and i just noticed that my SMS, email or calendar event wont vibrate anymore.
Everything other (alarm, phone calls, keypad...) vibrate normally but sms, emails and calendars doesnt.
I tried setting it on, off, turning silent mode, and even a factory reset (although i loaded settings saved on my memory card...) and NOTHING worked for me.
Has anyone same problem?? Is there a solution or is it hardware problem?
Or should i try factory reset but not to restore my saved settings from memory card? pls help...
Thanx for any advice!!

2 totally separate phones (dash's) one with Rogers and one with stock Tmo WM6. Hard restart all contacts disappear! Since in their infinite wisdom you cant disable the sim contacts from showing, I rely on them STAYING in the phone memory! Anyone else with this issue? It has happened only twice in maybe 4 months, but is very frustrating!
Thanks for any advice!
A hard reset will restore the phone to factory default (no contact list). It's supposed to do that. Keep your contacts synchronized via outlook and activesync.
Sorry, I was lying when I typed hard reset. I yanked the battery so it wasnt exactly a soft reset but I did not do the clear storage either I guess next time it locks up I will be more patient!

You should be syncing your phone with your contact list on your PC or exchange server if you are lucky enough to have one. This is one of the most basic things you can do on a smartphone. What if you lost your phone???
I do sync. But I dont take my computer with me either. So today, all day, I was without contacts. Now they are back caused I sync'd.
I guess we should be telling people that want louder call volume to get a hearing aid and people that want to run another ROM to buy the right phone
backup
I use Sprite Backup for said problem and its golden. Simply make backups of your data on the go and when things happen like say an impossible to stop boot loop or a data error, you can still restore everything.
I guess I am just the kind of person that would rather look at the root of the problem, not the band-aid repair after it happens again. I will look into the backup, but I will probably just carry my spare deactivated sim card so I can transfer stuff back if it fails me again.
So does anyone know a way to KEEP the contacts on the sim, yet hide them from view on the contacts list? It surpirses me that something my 8 year old Nokia does WM6 wont let you do . I have never accidentally lost my sim contacts- but the duplicate thing is annoying
The rogers rom for the htc s621 (dash) allows you to hide sim contacts without a registry edit. goto settings then phone... you'll find it there.
also there is a reg edit for said issue for roms that don't offer this option. I have not personally found a smartphone rom without this option but the regedit is: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Phone]
"ShowSIM"=dword:00000001 ->0 to disable, 1 to enable.
Now you can keep your contacts on your activated SIM.
THANK YOU!!! I had not realized Rogers did this!
Found the check box under Settings/Phone/Call Options
hi guys, I flashed my phone to JM7 2 days ago. Everything works fine and the phone is a lot faster. BUT, when sending out emails by the Gmail app, it delays for up to a few hours... I tried WIFI, 3G, with/without attachment, to different address, all delays.
The samsung email app works fine, it sends out when you press send. (I assume that is from samsung which is called 'Email', the icon is an envelopewith a green @).
Anybody please help.
Thanks.
Go to Settings/Applications/Manage Applications, then Menu/Filter/All.
Find Gmail and Gmail Storage, clear data/clear cache for both. Reboot the phone.
Then it'll need to resync with Gmail. Sending should work as normal after that.
This is usually only a problem if you've done a restore of some sort after updating the firmware. Sometimes changing SIM cards can also cause the same problem.
Working just fine here, I don't think this has something to do with JM7. I don't have any plausible theory to offer instead though, sorry.
JM7, GMail works just fine for me.

It worked! Many many thanks!
so everything was working perfectly. But today I had problems with my gmail account, it wasn't synchronizing at all. Of course the problem was that in the accounts & sync settings, they were all off! How the hell that happened? who knows, so I turned them on, it worked normal and now the emails are not in sync again, and it says: "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." My question is: Is it just me? or there's actually something wrong with everybody's gmail account?
ohh and one more thing, I'm missing some pictures on my sdcard, I took 4 pictures just now, and when I go to the gallery, they're not showing there, but if I go to the camera, I can look at the pictures, WTH is wrong with my phone today?
Any help will be appreciated,
Thnx
hmm dunno about the gmail problem. mines been good.
as for the gallery maybe try turning off and turning on the phone so it can scan the sd card for the pics can get them to show up. happened to me once or twice with my nexus and that how I got them to show up.
hope that helps and hope your gmail starts working again

Gmail wont let me send any emails whatsoever they just sit in my outbox. I thought it was a problem with the miui rom but I guess its not since I flashed back to cm 6.1.1 and still can't send anything ,
Any clue on why I can't send anything? I can still receive email just can't send anything.

I have the same problem....
it stopped syncing my outbox yesterday..
I'm on dhd port baadnwz 1.7c
when I was on stock froyo, this problem would sometimes appear, then I would rebbot my phone and it would sync...
now, I tried restoring to an earlier state(same rom), tried wiping dalvik, nothing...
it just won't send any emails...when I send them from my computer, it works, it doesn't only on my phone
very annoying stuff, driving me crazy, anyone have an idea what is going on??
tnx
well, I think I solved it
I uninstalled and again installed the gmail app from the market and it seems that it is working...
I'm not 100% satisfied because it is not a permanent solution, probably it will get stuck again..
but then again, it is working again
cheers
I think that what generally works in this case is going into Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All
Choose Gmail, and then clear the cache. It will then re-sync gmail, and it should work.
You could also clear the data --- if clearing the cache doesn't work, but you would have to redo your gmail settings (e.g. Vibrate, ringtone, signature). Uninstall and install does this as well.

a friend of mine told me he had the same problem...and that it was because the inbox was overloaded...to many emails in it..
so I tried it, erased whole bunch of it and it's ok now...
Recently I have been having problems with my m9 syncing email through both the gmail app and the stock email app too. Both need me to go on to get my emails. I have tried numerous factory reset and they sync fine at first but after a day or so, go back to my original problem. Does anyone else have this or have any suggestions to fix? Thanks in advance.
Most likely a background wifi issue or you have some silly app killer running.
No. No app killer running.
I have actually narrowed it down to only happening when Wi-Fi is connected. Does anyone have any fix or anything?
Apparently there is a work around or a 72hr cooling off period. Try waiting the 72 hours and if it wont let you login you'll have to try the workaround.
The problem is the gmail account wasnt removed before you reset it. Its a security feature introduced in 5.0.
The solution is you must gain access to the settings menu and reset the phone from the settings>backup and reset menu.

I don't know about you, but since I updated to Nougat, i'm having the same issue. Basically my contact, and calendar will not sync unless i turn off Power Saving.
and that annoying issue with the sound on priority mode..
any fixes would be greatly appreciated.
