How do you change the Lockscreen Wallpaper? - Desire General

Although it says in Settings > Personalize "Choose... lock screen wallpaper", there is no way to actually change the image. On earlier versions of HTC Sense for Android you could have a different picture on the lock screen and as a wallpaper, but not now. Another backward step or am I missing something?

I saw it also, the information is still in the user manual by the way, but not possible.
Is there a way to have the weather widget on lockscreen?
Thanks for your help

Nothing on my menus for lock screen...would be nice but tbh I'm not that fussed

I want to be able to change it too. I rather liked that feature on my Hero

I downloaded LockBotPro... its a good app an there's a decent amount of customization you can do to the lock screen... add your own wallpaper, lock slider & sound effect but shame its not compatibile with the AndWobble app, that would of made it a thousand times better
Is it possible to have live/animated lock screen themes with LockBotPro?

great app, but how can I upgrade to pro, when the market is not opened for paid apps?
EDIT: Sorry, I see now I can't...until it's rooted at least...

Not sure, but i would hardly imagine anyone having a go at it, people are trying to run away from live wallpapers to save up some battery life

This feature worked for me, and was present in the settings menu. ALthough I noticed at some point that my lockscreen image was not what I set it to, and the menu option was not there anymore......
I went back expecting the menu option to be there but it wasn't. Wonder whats going on. The feature was there and it worked for me...

Stop tilt?

I've tried Google without any luck..so I'm guessing this is a no..but I'm trying to find an app that disables tilt in certain situations only. I know I can disable tilt thru the settings..but that disables tilt EVERYWHERE. I'm just looking to disable tilt on my homescreen..while still being able to tilt while browsing Interwebz and whatnot. Seems like it should be an easy enough function..considering BB's have an app for it. Anyone have any suggestions?

Ok 1 - Android is not BlackBerry. Not even on the same level as one another, so just get that out of your head.
Second off, wtf do you mean on your homescreen? Sense doesn't turn landscape unless you changed the Skin to one built with landscape. Just switch it to the stock HTC skin, problem solved, it never goes landscape unless you open the keyboard.
If you're not using Sense (CM 6.1 or something) check the settings, as it usually has a way to disable homescreen rotation in their own personal settings.
Try CM6. It has the option for a custom power control widget to be embedded into the statusbar. You can put a toggle for rotation too. You loose the sense home and widgets though, but imo stock > sense. Or you could try quickdesk and put a rotation toggle widget on it.

Orly? Android isn't Blackberry? Good to know.
So lets begin...in order to "hide" all the bunk apps because I wasn't rooted, flashed, s-offed etc yet (all the things necessary to remove said apps) I had to download Launcher Pro (which was highly recommended). As soon as this was done..then yes..I was no longer able to use stock Sense. So now..my homescreen always tilts on me..which bugs the **** outta me. Could I just go back to stock Sense? Sure I could..but I'd rather have what should be a basic app to allow me to pick and choose where and when I'd like my screen to tilt. And I've grown to like how my homescreen looks over the stock look. Yes..I can disable autotilt in the settings..but then I can't even tilt the screen into landscape for the browser. So maybe I'm missing something here that someone else can point out..

I am on a stock ROM myself still, but I know that Cyanogen has a lot of customisation options. I wonder if it's worth asking in the CM thread over on the G2 side (because the DZ one is dead) out whether that has options that might help you ?
You want to disable "rotation" all over your phone AND to be able to use the browser in Landscape mode.
If that is the only thing you want, you can set your browser to "landscape mode only"
Now if you have a longer list of requirements on what apps get permisions to rotate the screen etc, I think you may bigger problems

there was nothing offensive or said with an attitude in this post. it was only til you noobs came on here with misplaced android pride. he didnt compare berrys to droids. he simply said they have an app for it.
this is a great question. the tilt function seems almost too sensitive. it would be great to maybe tweak it somehow to make it so you really have to hold the phone sideways....instead of slightly tilt the phone. an app to block it in certain situations is good but i feel that id have to micro manage too much to specify every single situaiton id want tilt or not.
for the record... i'm am a die hard android user and his post did not push my buttons at all. this post is very useful.
ADW launcher has an option in system preferences for home screen orientation.
Just change it from auto to portrait, that's what I did.

Wow no one answered your question. Well here it is, when you are on the home screen hit the Menu - Behavior Settings and uncheck Enable Auto-Rotation.
That will disable auto rotation on the home screen. Now go into Settings - Display and make sure Auto-rotate screen is checked. This way you will be able to but your screen into landscape mode when surfing the web or using apps that auto rotate. Now if you want to be able to choose specific apps, that I have no knowledge of doing. Hope this helps.

Tasker (on the Market) can be set up to enable/disable auto-rotation on many different triggers, like when a certain app is launched. Plus it can do a lot more that that! Check it out I think it's well worth the money.

Excellent.
Glad I could help. I know I was having the same issue at one point in time and it was very annoying. I didn't want to give up on Launcher Pro because the widgets are awesome and it gave me "sense" on my stock android! If you haven't played with Launcher Pro Plus, you should give it a whirl. The widgets that are unlocked with it are definitely top notch.

The crazy thing is I actually NEVER played with ADW, yet I keep hearing how really good it is. So good in fact, that some custom ROMS have it built in. Would you recommend it?

Not only those but what about the Friendstream widget? It is damn near an exact replica of the sense widget. I also like how when you use the picture frame widget, you can resize it. That feature is only available on LPP not LP.

Every time I try ADW I am always disappointed with the jerkiness/lack of smooth scrolling. I try it once every few months but never stuck with it.
Definitely Launcher Pro for me, smooth, customisable, practical,... who could ask for more?

Lock screen

Is there anyway to change this, to a slide bar or something?
Just come from a HD2 running stock desire rom and the current SGS2 one seems a bit...naff in comparison.
Try widgetlocker. Slide to unlock plus slide to any app

Adding the stock lockscreen is very complicated, requires editing of the framework.jar and android-services.jar aswell as framework res.
I will begin work on it once we have fully functional deodexed rom

Do you think you will be able to do it? Really don't like using bolt on lock screens like widgetlocker.
Depends how similar to the origional sgs the java files are. That's the complicated bit. Waiting on cwm for backups and deodexed rom, then work will begin

If you haven't given widget locker a go yet I would try it.
It's even better if you've rooted and increased your lcd density somewhat (192 seems good to me). I love being able to unlock straight to SMS, Email & camera, while being able to use torch mode without unlocking too... etc.
The old lock screen is still on in the background. Sometimes it flashes up when I unlock. Is it a bad idea to disable through Widget Locker?
I love widget locker, but I'm finding it a pain - my home button first start bypassing it, then when I figured that fix out, hold it down still activates the task manager grr
WidgetLocker is great - I've been using it for about a year but only found out the other day that you can get custom themes for the sliders, and because they're mostly just zipped up image files it was relatively easy to customise.

This is the 5 second problem. It's discussed in the Widget Locker documentation (and in the settings menus too).
If you root your phone you can get rid of it once and for all. Otherwise Homehelper is supposed to maybe help, but I never managed to completely get rid of the system lock screen till I rooted as you can't override the 5 second thing.

Okay. Planning on rooting my advice so may try that. Cheers. What is home helper? Do you mean root helper?
Widgetlocker on my O2 branded unrooted SG2 worked perfectly. However, now I have rooted it and flashed the unbranded firmware the home button overrides it meaning just pressing the home button twice unlocks the phone.
Anyone else with this issue? I have checked to make sure the option to allow the home button to unlock is unticked.
Edit - Ignore me, forgot the Homehelper needed to be set as default.

DO you think it would be possible to add Cyanogen's unlock screen (with rotary unlock and stuff) or would that be even harder ?
I would love to see the AOSP lock screen pop up on the SGS2.
my vote is the puzzle unlock from some sgs models.

That one is built into Widget Locker if you don't mind using that. Given the power and battery life on the phone I'm quite happy to do that. Although my resource reporting apps show Widget Locker as quite a hog.
I hate the Widget locker icon in the notification area. It makes me sad.

Unfortunately you are out of luck on one count. Adding folders on the app drawer might be available on certain launchers but none I can think of.
To enable home screen widgets in your lock screen go to
Settings > lock screen and enable home screen widgets.
You'll now be able to add most widgets to your lock screen.

Ahhh gotcha sorry.
There is no option for adding to unlock circle without getting an app like WidgetLocker and making one yourself
You can add lock screen short cuts though that will add tiles above your lock circle. Setting > lock screen > shortcuts
If you are really insisting you need it I'd check out PACMan I believe that is an option in that rom while still keeping the ParanoidAndroid base

Lock Screen Defaults

Does anyone know of any way to either change the default lock screen clock / weather items? Or remove it completely?
I tried Holo Locker but it does not seem to work.
I don't want to disable my lock screen completely, just have it as close to the stock Google as possible. I hate the Sense weather that comes with the One. I understand I can add something like DashClock but I am not able to set it as the default lock screen.
Any help is appreciated.
No possible to put any other lockscreen on than the ****ty default one. You can of course add the lockscreens you actually do want to the "right" of the default one but this is incredibly dumb to force us on their ****ty lock screen.
I want dashclock and can't get it to be the default.
I agree. Well, thanks for the response. I wish we could change it.

Widgets on lock screen?

(unfortunately the search function is not working for me today for some reason; I tried looking about a bit but didn't find anything - I apologize if there's another thread...)
Well, for the life of me I can't figure out how to add widgets to the lock screen. I did customize my shortcuts as per instructions (just change the ones in Sense, even if you're using a different launcher), but widgets? I read I'm supposed to swipe left on the lock screen, but nothing happens...
Thanks!
I'm pretty sure that feature has been removed since the One M8, even since Android Lollipop.

Not that I know of unless you have a Samsung (Their Good Lock app works with widgets).
Thanks man. Certainly sounds weird!
Sense must allow other widgets on the lock screen, too.
