[REQUEST] How can i do it with C#? - Windows Mobile Software Development

Hi, i would like to now if there is an object in Visual studio 2008 with C# for have a list like htc messages, or how can make it.
Thanks!

I use WM Standard, so I am not so sure about Pro, but I know there is a List control. Instead of trying to add one of those and add a whole bunch of images, why don't you read up on it and make a new list, like messageList which will extend the List control. That way you can make each list object have its own box with gfx and a counter of how many msgs are in that area.
Sorry, that is the best I can think of off hand...try Google'ing it and maybe you will get results!!! (I think that Resco has some pre-made controls you can download and use...[other have it too])...

Thanks for the answer, but resco controls is not free?

There are some free ones in this forum (SliderList Control, Sense SDK, Manila Interface SDK), hope they are what you're looking for .

Ideas for B&B version 4.2

I know that 4.1 is only just out & I think it's brilliant. I'm spending every evening checking new posts and playing with my phone like never before. So, before the 4.1 thread becomes the next thread with 1200 posts, I thought I'd start a new thread for ideas for 4.2
Tom - before I found the magic that is B&B I was using Wisbar Advance desktop and an application called innesoft address book which had a great feature that when someone called you, their photo was displayed full screen with their name (see thumbnails) rather than just the standard windows window.
Any chance you could devlelop something similar for 4.2 !!!
Cheers

Here is something that may hold you over, I am still trying to figure out how to use the caller id without the actual slide to unlock, bit here is something to tide you over, jsut a thought
Have a pretty much full screen keyboard for texting in landscape mode? The text appears at the top?
Is there a way we can assign a button to lock the phone rather than go thruogh the menu?
Cheers
Anybody knows if it is legal to include trial versions of apps in cooked rom?
Was thinking rom with included sktools, english dictionary of some kind, IM+, resco explorer, spb gprs monitor included on rom would save time and space. Apps included would be trial versions and ppl haveing bought them could just enter activation keys/serials, others could buy app if thy liked it.

This would be a waste of time and energy for most, these Roms are made to be efficient, the least amount of space used so that you as an individual can place your desired programs, once a rom is built there is no removing/uninstalling of any apps, hence the reason to not put trial versions into a rom, I use several of the above mentioned, but to "Bloat" a rom with them would be ineffecient. Best thing to do is install on your sd card, keep all your initial install cabs in one folder and use that as your rebuild folder. Cheers.

Is it not worth remembering that everyone has a different list of killer apps they MUST have on their device?
If Tom & Meschle etc added every app - the rom would only just fit on a 40gb hard disk!!!
To my mind - the idea is that the cooked roms are a basis onto which you install your own apps to make your own device work?
Constanlty asking for new apps to be added to a rom just complicates the issue. Or am I wrong?
something so i can remotly use my desktop via PPC
then im complete
automated network setup like in the O2 WM6 Premium 1.0 WWE rom
Extended timers & alarms application
I'd like to avoid installing SpbTime on each version
Great job!
OK, i agree, rom should be as slim as possible, but why the hell there is cube, psshutXP, PHM regedit/traylaunch, and office mobile on it then?
Could make an ultra lite wersion. (=
P.S. Dont get me wrong, i think 4.1 is great and it is a lot faster than O2. Just throwing around ideas about how to make it better.
with my original post, I was not really asking for a copy of the app, just would like a much bigger photo to pop up with caller id and liked the look of the inesoft one.
Tom - what do you think?
Just trying to make the ROM easier to use, more efficient.
B&B 4.1 is far better than original ROM from this point of view
TouchFlo for example helps to have everything we need with a single finger move..
Phone app is a lot more usable also.
Perhaps also the possibility to customize HTC Home by default, with more options (number of apps in the launcher, ..)
i don't think that is constructive to add as much apps, i can imagine, when it's released, everbody is shouting "this is not good" and "why did you use this app and not the other one"...and so one. I like it clear, not too much apps...but that's my opinion.
If i want it with all apps included then i start (to learn ) cooking my own ROM... IMHO i am very satisfied with the work that Tom is doing for us all. And 4.1 is just released. Enjoy it and let Tom make a break. He is hard working all the time!
Plugins for new version
Alarms extension (SpbTime style)
USB PenDrive emulator (WMstorage style)
Phone call recording (Audio Recorder style)
Thanks for B&B! Great job!
i have a great idea
Why dont we support Tom and all off his hard work and all the other wizards here, and stop complaining or asking for more.

Improving File access
What I would like to see is the File Dialog Changer, I don't know who has heard of it but it is very good! Usually when you want to save files or open them in any application you get access to you My Documents folder. Only some smart apps like TCPMP and others have the option to access your entire pda.
File Dialog Changer changes the way you access your files in opening and saving them for every application, it's just 50 KB and you can activate / deactivate it in System Settings.

And about your wish I can only say that there is already Remote Desktop for WM6, I think I've downloaded it in the Wizard forum. Or use PocketVNC, that is the pda version for VNC. I am successfully using that with TightVNC on my computer. I just have to be in range of my WLAN and can turn on my computer by sending a wake on lan signal (not with vnc) and then access my computer through pocketvnc or access the files on my computer.

I think he had a point though. In the whole thread there is not one message of Tom Codon himself. Did you ask what he thinks? Maybe he has a few ideas of his own? After all, it will be his ROM...
Who says it will be B&B v4.2? Why not 4.3 or 5.0? If there will be another version let him take care of the numbers.

[Idea] Separate Panels for Sense and Titanium

Well I'll keep it short .....
Recently devs here on xda released an app that would switch with the press of a button between Sense and Titanium....
Since the average xperia user's dream is to be able to have a separate panel for sense and one for titanium I was asking myself if smn into panel developing could develope two "FAKE" panels that by triggering the application would create the illusion of having two panels....
Like panel A >>>> triggers app>>>>triggers titanium
panel B>>>> triggers app>>>>>triggers sense
I believe it's doable and even easy but i dun ave the time to make it myself...nor i have the space on my HDD to install visual studio
Lemme know whatcha think guys !!
Cabs for the app can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5222980
WoW no one singe reply !?? ...ne body likes the idea ??
Whatever... guess i'll have to work this out myself...i'll have to learn how to use the panel dev tools first....if i achieve what i have in mind i'll share it
Good one
Actually your idea very good, just X1 user getting less now..
EXE Panelizer can link any app to panel.

You're talking bout the one by sony ericsson requiring Visual Studio right ??
If yes i already downloaded both the panelizer and visual studio...I'm just waiting to have some free time and start on it....thedarkness which is the creator of the app shown his will to help create single executables ....so might be near...hope ppl find this interesting really, though i'll do it anyway cuz i like it
Just an EXE-panelizer's example cab. Only PanelManager\Panels entry should be edited.
However, I don't think it will help us.
It does seem like people are migrating out of Xperia and into other devices, but I am more thrilled about my X1 now than when I got it. X2 panels and task manager along with new possibilities for making panels (new Visual Studio panelizers) make this an awesome device now. Oh well, hopefully we'll keep some of the talent in the Xperia section because we still got some great rippers and chefs.
Anyway, yes is awesome idea. I used the Second Today HTML panel, and I made a customized one for myself, but ultimately HTML panels are a clumsy implementation.
I would be thrilled if you get get this done, but I believe you will have to do a DLL panelizer. I am pretty sure titanium is run through a DLL.
Just my two cents, since I don't code (I can only script), and have only made HTML panels (which I hate).
Good luck! I'll be keeping an eye out
would be really cool! I hope you'll get this to work mate, I really do!
any help?
hi there dark, im currently using TF3D detacher to switch between sense 2.5 and titanium on the latest valkyrie v5.5 and its lightning fast. It has seperate exe's for showing sense and hiding sense (i think. It has seperate shortcuts but im sure ive seen the exe before in program files or windows folder). I thought this might be of some help to you. Maybe not! Id like to switch sense and titanium via a panel too! Hope you can solve this, regards b
Hey DarkHalf - how's progress? I'm looking for exactly this kind of thing.
I also think this is a good idea! But I just don't have the skills to do it myself...
Im working on app that will allow you to simply switch between TF3D/Sense, SPB Mobile Shell and Panels.
Im trying to make it work on panel key, so there is one key that allows you to switch today screens.
Im working on your suggestion now.
Im trying to achieve with .NET program + mortscript from link you given.
Maybe i will release it soon, but there is lot of work to do because sense and panels dont like each other.

WoW gr8 news !! I hope you really achieve this !!
I gave up because of the huge amount of dev tools needed and my lack of programming knowledge ...hope you better lucck than mine....
I think the mortscript should link to the switching app exe and then revert to the today screen, but most probably you've already thought of that

I am writing a guide/tutorials on how to develop and modify manila, since I've found it very hard to find information on it. I welcome any help, comments on these tutorials and also any information people may have on manila.
I've chosen to write them in the wiki, so it is open for anyone to edit so hopefully if I get something wrong it can be corrected. Let me know if you are interested in adding to these tutorials (or just add them), I've got a few more planned, just catching up with my progress so far.

Help Needed
I have a few questions which I can't find answers for:
Q1: How do I upload pictures to the wiki, attachments just appear as links. Where is the upload point?
Using PhotoBucket for now, but is there some way to upload them directly to the xda wiki?
Q2: Manila related question, anyone know how the xxxxx_manila files are numbered? Doing the mods I will be creating manila files, so I was wondering if there was some reason in the numbers or can I use any file number which isn't in use? Ideally you'd want to avoid using other file names used by other tabs & plugins even if they aren't currently installed.
EDIT: The names are a HASH of the internal reference name, the ManilaHASH Tool allows the names to be generated (see attached).
Thanks.
I hope these links will help you;

I'm glad someone likes em, I've tried to keep the level of them fairly high otherwise the useful information gets lost in the "Click Button A" here and select this menu here... I hope that it makes sense, the aim is to focus on the manila stuff rather than the toolset (which have manuals/threads and will also change over time).
Big question, do they make any sense?
Out of interest, which of the To Do Items in particular?

wow seems quite perfect for a tutorial!!! thank you!!!
but i have one noob question:
do you think that there's a way to obtain a cab for that in the end of all the procedures here, i mean i have already managed to make a couple of cabs (for example, i've already made some 2.5 sliders) but by that i mean i have always included simple files in them and nothing else, like key entries or values.. so i'd like to know if it is possible, because if it is, i'll start to work on that immediately.
I'm asking because i'm using the official sense 2.5 for rhodium ROM and i'd like to ad the e-reader + the documents tab in it
Plus, about the call history, do you know if there's a way to replace the telephone softkey on the home tab with call history, instead of adding an extra tab for it, because the actual button says telephone and, uhh the hardware call button does the exact same job...
AND ALSO, I APOLOGIZE for my bad english if it is (first language is french)

+ for asking things in the wrong place if it is the case
And again thank you very much for this wonderful TUT

1. Cab's (for the tutorials?) yes it is possible, but they take time to do, plus the extra issue is each Tab Control file (i.e. 26948339_manila) will be different for each combination of tabs you have.
2. It is easy to add reg entries to cabs, although depends what you use to create them. Not done it myself but usually app.reg (text file) with the following sort of thing:
Code:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"Facebook.LaunchAppSel"=dword:1
"Facebook.LaunchAppName0"="MS Facebook App"
Can't offer more info on cabs, since I've not made any yet.
3. Softkey, that should be defined in the registry somewhere, depends on your version of home page, cookie/manilaMax etc. Don't know it off hand, but definitely on the forums.

Do you mean the docs tab?
Simple answer is I don't know without trying it (but I don't have 2.0). I would expect that it could use 2.5 specific stuff, if you are careful to take backups you can probably try. Unfortunately I'm only learning about manila 2.5 since that is what I'm using, I don't know how they will differ. The principles are similar but it won't be exactly the same.

If it is that different then unfortunately I can't help. I'm only learning how to do manila 2.5 since I have it on my phone and I can experiment with it (the tutorials are written from my own trial and error (mainly error!)). Don't know pocket breeze, so might not understand what you mean.
There is a today plugin tab somewhere. But unfortunately, I'm fairly sure you can't just make an app to appear inside a tab.

Program acts like a user? Can it be done?

Hi. I know Java and C# enough to write small programs and I'm very currius about that can I do something like this:
When I start a program it visually touches windows icon, then opens word mobile and types some word on it?
I mean, is it possible to make a program which acts like a user as it can be easily done in assembly language?
If the answer is yes, can please tell me where can I learn those comments and learn more about this?
Thanks

You're welcome !
Another way of doing it in code (C++) is to use SendMessage() or PostMessage() to send WM_KEYDOWN and WM_LBUTTONDOWN messages to the window in question.
In VB or C# use a Message class object to do it.
Auto Hotkey for WM should work too!
Never tried it out myself, haven't had a need for it yet.
But I use it for my PC all the time!

[REQUEST] A Manila style NOTES app WM6.5

Hi Guys,
I often use default wm Notes program in my htc.
Recently i thought about creating a simple and pretty program with htc manila style, instead of boring wm notes.
Personally, I can't create such a program, because I don't know the programming language
However, I made several assumptions that I should comply..
*very simple -just basic funkcions: add, view, edit and delete notes
*Fast loading during startup (in my opinion the most important)
see attachment
So if someone can create that app or something like that it will be great
P.S.
I made some graphics which can be useful and
if anyone would be interested in the "project" I can send psd file
write any ideas and attentions ..whatever you want
If you use CHT2.0 theres a "Notes" widget made by poyensa.
Have a scan over the HD2 themes and apps and you should find it.
