I've had my Tilt 2 for about a month now. I've tried 4 or 5 different ROMs now, but i've come across a problem all of a sudden that wasn't fixed by a hard reset or flashing the stock ROM back. The phone all of a sudden doesn't work! I can still send and recieve text messages just fine, but the phone doesn't work. It says "Dialing...," sits there silent for a few seconds, then beeps 3 times and goes back to my recent calls list.
Beyond this, I have also not been able to get the text message announcements to work on any ROM except for the stock AT&T ROM. I get the same result with all of them, having tried combonations of several different ROMs and three different copies of MSVC. Now matter how I try MSVC will announce my emails, but not my text messages, which happens to be the exact opposite of what I want. Anyone know how to fix this? A registry edit, maybe?
Also, I have tried several different copies of HTC QuichGPS on these cooked ROMs and they all give me an error when I try to run the program. It says something to the effect of "certificate not being signed...one or more missing components..." Is there a particular version that I need to install, or is Advanced Config not really turning off the certificate security?
Any help with any of these problems would be greatly appreciated, the phone in particular being a higher priority of course. Thanks in advance for any help provided.

No, not yet. I was using the Black ROM. had other issues, so switched to another ROM, then phone went out, so i went back to the stock ROM. i don't remember which one, but one of the ROMs flashed a radio, then the stock ROM flashed a radio again when i reverted back to it. i'm at work. is there anywhere i can get a new radio that IS NOT from a filesharing site? my work computer won't let me visit filesharing sites.

Which radio do you want? I can download it and e-mail it if you want to PM me your address
smells like your machine has some problem itself.

Hey All,
I switched to the Rogers ROM from T-Mobile and I love how much smoother the system runs.
The only issue is I see, which is occuring more and more frequent is an error when I try and place a call
A screen pops up saying: "Error: Cannot complete the call, The signal may be unavailble or number is invalid. Verify the number or try again later"
It is quite annoying because it happens at random times, like right now.
I never had this issue with the t-mobile rom, so is anyone else having this issue?
D_D
::bump::
Am I really the only person with this problem?
Someone has to know what I'm talking about
You are not alone. I got the same issue. I also have had a big problem syncing to my exchange server. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it does not. I get an erro about the proxy and to contact my system admin person.
The phone not being able to place a call is really annoying though.
that is odd i have t-mobile dash and i have t-mobile service and i flashed my phone with so many roms and never had any prob like that tell me wt u did since u flashed ur phone
I just flashed the from T-mobile WM6 to Roger ROM, and that was it.
The phone and programs all work well, but the error comes up once in a while and requires that I restart the phone.
pretty weird huh?
yeah wt version of rogers rom are you using
CE OS 5.2.1238
Build 17745.0.2.3
Radio Version 4.1.13.47_02.98.90
RIL Version 2.002
i have the same version the way am doing it is am installing the allow ceritifcate from the rogers rom then am unlocking my phone throught jockey's way then i reboot it then i start the app that flashes your phone then after that i open the rogers rom file and then every thing goin on from there and it works fine bt if ur doing the same maybe something is wrong with your phone unless u have been changing any settings in the phone
No, I haven't been fooling around with any of the settings, and I'm pretty competent with messing with settings so I would know when I make a big uh-oh.
I was wondering should I just re-flash the phone.
Also, as anyone made any customizable ROM for the Dash?
yeah if the error comes up alot and it bugs try reflashing your phone if you have done that already and you still got that error try using the htc rom its as fast as the rogers maybe that one will work for you let me know if you need the htc rom
my fone was ok till a couple of days back when i started to get some of msgs not getting out of my outbox. it was kinda on and off thing i.e at times things would go smooth but at others i wont b able to send even a single msg, but now i cant send out even a single. texting is one of the main use of my fone and life is crippled without it.
i changed over to tai_sw's windows 6.5 thinking that it'd help but it didnt ( had same on and off pattern ), then i reverted back to the halloweenrom. thinking that it might be the radio rom i flashed to 1.47.30 from 1.16....( dont remember the complete name though ). radio flashing helped for a while but again that menace is back.
BTW I CAN RECIEVE OR CALL ANY NUMBER WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM AT ALL
now my fone has
windows: 6.1
rom: halloweenRom
radio: 1.47.30
PLZ ANYONE KNOWING HOW TO CORRECT ALL THIS? LIFE SUCKS WITHOUT A WORKING HERMES
also
if i take the sim out and put it in another fone like nokia etc, it works fine.
also i did a hard reset to see if the apps installed are causing it, but hard reset didnt work either.
should i flash the original shipped rom into the fone or anyother way out?
i've no idea which path should i tread, but for the xda members
Not really sure, because I never had any issues senting text messages with the haloween rom. But, you could try the shipped rom, or the stripped rom. See if they have the same issue. I would flash the stripped rom anyway between custom roms just to straighten out any memory issues that can pop up.
Or, do you have or know someone with another sim you could try? Maybe you sim is having issues?
If you are NOT USING 3G then you need to turn it off.
Goto Settings>>personal>>phone>>band AND select 2G. then OK and Turn off handset and turn it on . Send urself a test txt. U should get it working .
worked for me ..may work for u too.
well thanks to both boog321 and irisiris
glad the xda members are always there to help you out
thank you very much
@irisiris
ya buddie you were absolutely right there. actually i flashed a rom which had its 3g on and since then i was getting some prob but thinking that it might be due to that rom i flashed another rom which didnt had 3g in its comm manager so i couldnt get it right. just as i was flirting again with the rom that had messed my fone up i found the 3g on, so i simply offd it and things were smooth once again.
I was playing around with the nightly build of CM10.1, and my radio stopped working. I flashed what I thought was the stock ROM back with Odin, but then I started receiving an, "Insert SIM Card" message whenever I tried to enable Mobile Data. So I flashed another one I found online. Still, with no luck (though the error was gone), I tried some radios. A dozen radios later, and I can get 3G data -- but still no calls or texts. I've been updating the PRL non-stop, still no luck (except when I'm roaming.)
I'm guessing the problem has to do with the many many files I have in /system/etc/firmware
Is there anyway I can get my radio back to stock?
Thanks!
you need a full odin flash with repartition. do not do this till you know for sure you have the right files to use. you can screw **** up with odin pretty damn quick. lemme search and ill see if i can find the right stuff for you.
EDIT:
I am downloading the files you will need to flash in odin. I want to see that they are indeed the correct ones for you to use. If you need help i can remote connect to your pc and help you out.
22 mins left on the DL and then ill be back

first rule of posting on any forum, "no question is dumb"
Rule number 2 " always ask if there is something you need fixed or need help with"
dont worry youre not dumb. though i may not be able to help you, the person above me hopefully will.
Quick answer from my own findings, the original stock ROM had a bug that doesn't allow it to see the SIM properly, but if you patch it (settings, update - or something like that), it will fix it (there will likely be a few rounds of updates).

The ROMs at Sumsung-Updates.com seem to be trustworthy. Are they?
Anyway, I finally got the issued resolved. It wasn't a radio problem that was blocking me, it was a badly linked Google Voice account. Sprint killed it, and now everything's OK (though I signed up again ^_^)

I had the same problem with the sim card thing...linked it to my wifi and it downloaded like 15 updates and then finally started working normally...probably incorrect stock rom or seriously old...got the one from samsung-updates and that works flawlessly
Every time i flash a custom rom other than stock I don't have any data. I can provision if i have wifi on and update profile and prl (im on sprint) sometimes i get 3g signal but its virtually non existent. It says that it cant connect or no data available even though it shows 3g or 4g. It only seems to work with my nandroid backup of the stock rom. I have used custom kernels and still same issue. only tried 4.3 roms basically the ones with most views. I have check all me settings and seem to be ok. Any help is appreciated.

It seems to be the same sort of issue you are having. While the phones are different than yours, the fix should be similar. Follow the links contained therein and let us know how it turned out.

I had tried that for got to mention it. I provision before and after and still no go. I delete current data profile and provision. I did give it one more try and it works flawlessly on vanir 4.4.2 but other ROMs don't work. 4.4.2 still not stable for me to use as a DD .

All you have to do is after flashing a ROM, wait and see if you get service. If not, immediately reboot the phone. You should connect after the reboot and every other reboot after that. That is all.

Yep thats what i did with the first couple of roms and first attempts. Got frustrated and then went to google and found a couple of things i could do but nothing helped.
Hey guys, i'm having a bunch of connectivity issues, all revolving around cell service. WiFi works greats. First issue is that text message get sent and received sporadically(meaning sometimes i send texts and they send right away, while other times they fail and require a few resends). Second issue is incoming calls not reaching my device(doesn't even ring on my phone) and going straight to voicemail after 2 rings/outgoings calls not ringing at all. Last and hopefully least, data seems to drop or hang on upload after a few minutes of use. Now all these issues occur sporadically and at seemingly random times, but it seems like once one of these 3 issues occur, they all get triggered.
I've checked and reset APN settings and they seem correct, although instead of "Not Set" for the username, there is "none" and there is a four digit password that has been censored by *, and for Server there is one digit *.
I've called T-MO customer service and their suggestion to solving it was a Master Reset, which is essentially a Factory Reset including wiping the Internal SD card. I've yet to do this, but i have tried a regular Factory Reset from TWRP, but the issue still persists. Not sure what to do at this point, was considering ODIN'ing back to stock(4.1.1 root66 to be exact).
If it matters, I'm running Dandroid 4.1.2, with DLJA baseband and stock kernel. Sometimes rebooting or flipping airplane mode on/off fixes it for a couple more minutes.
Any insight or suggestion would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
I had this problem on my Nexus 5 and it seems to be sorted out now. But I'd highly recommend ODINing to the latest stock if you change your baseband radio and you're still experiencing the same issue. (I'm also a T-Mobile customer)
Also, I recommend heading to the market and downloading Offline SIM APN Database to verify you have the entirely correct APN.
Hey, thanks for the swift reply. Firstly, i checked the offline sim database and my APN settings match those, so hopefully APN settings are out of the question. And by latest, are you referring to 4.3? Also, i don't think i've ever flashed a radio/modem of any kind, and my baseband has been DLJA since i first bought this phone ~1 year ago.
I believe so that 4.3 is latest.
Before flashing 4.3, make sure you Sim unlock the phone first.
It sounds to me like its probably one of the following causing your issues....
Bad SIM card
Network problems on T-Mobile's end
Corrupted firmware or data
Or just part of the actual hardware going bad
(Listed what I think is most likely first)
Go to a T-Mobile store and ask an employee if they can test your device with their sim, or better yet, since its random ask if they can just replace yours.
Call T-Mobile to ask if there are any known problems in your area. If not ask if they can reset your account.
Flashing firmware with Odin (not mobile odin) can help determine if it may be a hw or sw problem. I do recommend factory resetting with stock recovery though. This actually formats /data, where custom recoveries just selectively delete things.
If its still giving problems after all of the above, its a pretty good chance some piece of hw has gone bad.
Thanks the replies guys, I'll report back with some results. Just wanna add, I've tried my sister's S4 LTE Sim on my phone and the issue still seems to occur regardless.

Funny that I came across this. I was experiencing (seemingly) the exact same problem very recently. I even picked up a new SIM card, but that didn't fix it. I was beginning to fear it was hardware related. But like Doc suggested, I used ODIN to flash stock fw, and all is well again. It appears that my problem was related to data corruption. Thought I'd post to confirm returning to stock via ODIN fixed the issue for me - in case it happens to anyone else.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately I'm still experiencing this problem. May I ask which Android version you ODIN'd? If 4.3, MJC or NC2? I've ODIN'd two firmwares, 4.1.1 LJA and 4.1.2 MD5. I've held back on doing 4.3 because I know after that, there is no way back. But if that fixes the issue, I'm all in. Thanks!

I used UVDLJA 4.1.1, and so far I'm free of the connection issue. I feel the same as you... don't want to flash 4.3 without being able to downgrade. I picked the LJA fw because that's what my phone shipped with, and the radio/bootloader combo always worked well for me. Sorry it hasn't worked for you! Maybe a stupid question, but did you factory reset after ODIN flashing?
Out of curiosity, did the issue resurface while you were still running stock fw? Or had you changed ROMs?

Yeah, I've factory reset from the stock recovery and had everything wiped. Well first the issue initiallly surfaced on the Dandroid 4.1.2 ROM, but I had ran that ROM for close to a year without any issues, then all of a sudden it happened. I ODINd the 4.1.1 and factory reset and at first I thought it worked but a few minutes later, the problem resurfaced, so to answer your question, yeah it still happened on stock fw. I may try it again just in case I take it in to a T-Mobile store.

Well since you ruled out the SIM card already, the 2nd part I mentioned would be my next suspect. (Network problems on T-Mobile's end. )
Is there any way you can get maybe 5-10 miles away from your usual locations and test there? (Remember to reboot after making it to a new location). If its still giving problems there, its very unlikely to be a tower problem. (Still possible, but very unlikely. ) Also, call T-Mobile support and ask if they can perform a reset on your account. (Can't remember what they call it exactly, but they should be able to take some sort of similar action on your account from their end.)
Finally, if you are still running 4.1.2 or 4.1.1 firmware, you can try flashing the different modems I have in my baseband thread. (Stickied in development). I can't remember right now if the 4.3 modems will work on the older firmware, but its ok to try them all. Once you update to 4.3 you can no longer use the older modems.
If, after all of that, you still are having trouble, you can pretty much rule out network problems. It'd still be a possibility, but only a very unlikely one.
After this, you might want to seriously consider flashing the MJC firmware, then NC2 if necessary. If none of that is helping I don't think there will be much more you can really do....
