shortcut for swap between usb to pc mode - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hi all,
i used my rhodium as usb key but it's really boring to go to settings and connection and usb to pc..and change allthe time between activesync and disk drive...
Do you if it's possible to create a morstcript or else to swap between both with a button?
Thanks !

You shouldn;t have to do all that. My Touch Pro 2 is running the new WM6.5/Sense2.5 ROM, and when I connect it to a PC, the device asks me if I want Sync or USB drive access.
The previous ROM (WM6.5/Sense2.1) also did this, and I'm pretty certain it did it under the original WM6.1 ROM.

Unwanted Program File Icons

I have just removed a program from my MDAiii and there is an icon left behind in my programs menu.
I want to remove this but I cant seem to locate it in explorer.
Can someone please tell me how to remove this small but nigglin pain?
explore it via the my computer screen of ur computer
explore it via the my computer screen of ur computer
then remove it... done!
I have tried exploring for it via my PC and it doesn't appear in my program files directory.
The icon is for a the game A VIKING SAGA.
I have even searched for any file with the contents "viking" in the name and it cannot find the file.
I have also searched for .exe using the search facility on XP but it replies with no files found!
Now it must exist somewhere otherwise it wouldn't appear in my program files list.
BUT WHERE?
suggestion
in ppc file explorer press a little longer and enable "view all files" and then see if u can find it!
or enable vie all files on PC and try!
I have view all files enabled on my PC and still no luck!
Where is the option to view all files on my MDA file explorer?
I apologise for my stupidity but I have only had it for two days!
Are you looking in the right directory?
Should be:
My Device/Windows/Start Menu/Programs
Cheers Neil!
Sorry everyone - I was looking in the wrong place but now I know!
DOH

Software to browse files from PC?

Is there any software that I can use to browse the contents of my phone from my PC? Sorta like the way you can use the program MobileRegistryEditor to edit the phone registry using windows.
When I try using Windows Mobile Device Center I cant see to see the Windows folder (its like hidden or something)
thankzzzz
You start off in my documents, which is one level down, and you need to go in "My Device" to get to root. Its really stupid.
no i meant in activesync for vista, i cant see the windows folder (from the computer, not the phone) is tehre a program to view the files from the computer.
I agree,
I cant see my windows folder through activesync on vista.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So is this YAVL (Yet Another Vista Lossage) ? Because in XP (and 2000), it is easy. Just go to My Computer, the phone appears as a device (Mobile Device?), and you right click it and choose Explore.

In Vista Explorer you have to click on Organize - Folder and Search Options; Click on the View Tab and under Advanced Settings click on Show Hidden Files and Folders.
It's also helpful to un-check Hide Extensions for known file types if you want to change file names/types.
I hope this helps.

How to override files in windows-folder?

Hello,
I'm trying to replace the sym.0409.txt in windows-folder. But this file is writeprotected, so I can't delete or replace it. when I try to paste the file to windows-dir I get a message "do you realy want to replace the file... blablabla". When I click "yes", windows creates a new file "copy of sym.0409.txt"
can anyone tell me how to replace write protected files in windows-directory?
i belief this discussion has nothing to do with WM6. perhaps it should be moved to a general discussion?

Depends how you are doing it....
Resco file explorer will allow you to "overwrite" file in the windows directory. If you install it you get 30days before you have to register it or remove it.
Hope that helps.
Some files can be overwritten by copying from within your desktop computer using Active Sync or Windows Mobile Device Centre, instead of directly on the device. I think.txt would fit this criteria.
.dll's need something like Resco Explorer installing on your device (on trial) and they will overwrite system files.
the windows-dir is not accessible from desktop-pc... but the resco-file-explorer-solution works fine

yes the windows folder is available from the Desktop PC
ok... thats new for me... can you tell me how? when I go to my device in desktop explorer I see a harddrive "/" and under "/" I see all the rootdirectories from the device - except the windows-dir. typing in directly "//Windows" doesn't work too.
perhapgs it's a vista-only phenomenon...

2. I've installed Vista
3. You can NOT access the device windows-dir out of the box!
If you can't explain how to do it, please stop telling bull****!

From WMDC, File Management, Browse files ...
\ Then Windows is listed.
The reason you can't see it is because you haven't unticked Hide Protected Operating System Files in CP-Appearance-Folder Options-Show Hidden Files
Edit: Herr*: Calm down, Wash was right and tried to help you with what he had available at the time.
You can overwrite the file using freeware Pocket Total Commander. I have been able to overwrite said file with this app. Sym.txt allows for entering additional characters (with umlauts....) via hardware keyboard.
Oops - ignore this.
Ok here is how you do it, folder options, view, uncheck "hide protected operating system files (recommended)". Presto, you can see it now, at least in Vista.

Having trouble with Rom

Hi, first off, I have used the search button to find a solution and have not been able to find one. I have a T mobile Dash and a SanDisk 8BG micro SD. I flashed the device with the 080314 rom and I am able to see the large SD. At first I was able to drag mp3s to the SD through file explorer and they copied to the SD. Now when I try to drag a file I get a circle with a diagonal line indicating that the drag n drop is not allowed. I cannot drag a file to any location of the device not just the SD. Any help would be appreciated.

First of all, are you using ActiveSync (for Windows XP) or Windows Mobile Device Center (for Windows Vista)? I'm only familiar with ActiveSync... On ActiveSync you should make sure that your USB connection is not disabled. Go to File -> Connections -> then click the appropriate button to enable USB connectivity. Hope this helps.
Hey Rip, I am using ActiveSync 4.5 in XP. I found that if I use the Shortcut that ActiveSync created on the desktop I can copy the files. I will let you know if the problem returns. Thanks for the fast reply.

Acces Windows directory from computer

Hey guys.
I would like to go into my Windows directory on my Blackstone from my computer. Is that even possible?
Yes it is.
I assume you are connected via ActiveSync between the PC and Blackstone?
You should be able to access the entire directory structure.
I'm using WM Device center to connect my HD via ActiveSync. I'm also not able to see my windows map on my Blackstone. I've set the settings to also show hidden folders, but Windows still not visble. How is that with ActiveSync on Windows XP?
Not the windows directory..

Make sure you are displaying hidden files and you have the option to show protected os files.
My settings (on my PC) are to show hidden files and folders. Where do I find the option to show also hidden OS files? Thanks in advance
