Hello,
After searching google, xda and ppc geeks. I can't seem to find a way to switch from say vibrate mode to ring (loud) based on the number that is calling me. (caller id).
I found a lot of programs to switch based on location, or type of contact (missed call, email and such)..
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Not sure if it does it by person, but years ago I had 2 different apps that would change my profiles for me...you can research them...
photo contacts pro
call firewall
Again, I really don't know if they can work on a call by call basis or if it is just for time frames, etc...but its a place to start. Sorry I can't help more.
Found the solution...
Business Pro v6.x
It allowed me to create a vip profile and put my wife and our company Emergency Alert phone number listed as by pass.
I keep my phone on vibrate during business hours. This will bypass that setting and ring the phone for only the 2 numbers.

salut!
i'm seeking for soft for Windows Mobile 6 (HTC Touch HD), and there's a vast number of these, but i cannot find what i exactly need.
subject: filtering of incoming calls and sms
feature: only VIP calls and sms can come in (10-20 men), all other calls and sms must be muted(silenced) without hanging up the phone.
wish: soft must be started and stopped with ease.
problem: all software i inspected whether either hangs up the phone (unacceptable), or too commercial and heavy.
do you have any recomendations?
How about this option - use this app to assign to categories of contacts different sound files.
VipPimRingTone - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=309837
Then use VIP category with a sound file and all others with an empty sound file.
i have two situations:
1)i'm ok. phone must accept all calls
2)i'm with girl A. phone must not ring when girl B calls whatever telephone she uses for that. VIP (boss, close friends, mom) should be able to call normally
i must switch between modes 1 and 2 regularly

Oh I see - sorry, the VIPpim thing is not good for your need.
Perhaps PPCProfiles might do it. Have a look here: http://www.modaco.com/content/ppcprofiles-pro/202004/ppcprofiles-pro/
I have not used it - I don't have a complicated love life !!
Good luck, D.

your problem would be sorted out by MAGICALL
thank you!
obtained and configured.
looks like it's a right solution.
i use my TP2 for both personal and work, and its on 24/7, but i would like to automatically divert business calls(as defind in the caterogy section in outlook, when you hit edit contact - more)
ideally iwould like to be able to select a category and choose if i want ot divert that to voicemail
if it could also define it to auto divert the category based on day and time and if possible based on calender entry or defineable.
also if it could change my profile as well that would be amazing.
so does anyone know how i could go about doing this

I'd strongly recommend "Magicall" by Mobiion ( http://www.mobiion.com/magicall.html )
It can definitely divert via Category; not sure if it can do it by the type of number (business; home) as I've not tried that yet

that is perfect (on the face of it, havnt tested it in the field as yet) i just want to block certain people during certian times, and they are stored ascertain categories.
i hope that the "hang up" option diverts to my voice mail,
and to be able to SMS them as "sorry im on holiday" text is just the iceing on the cake
thanks

Yes - that's exactly what 'hangup' does (same as pressing the red button on any other mobile.
I do think it's a little confusing as to what magicall has named the following operations:
Magicall 'Ignore' = Do nothing, other than mute the ringer
Magicall 'Hangup' = Divert Immediately to voicemail (i.e. 'do not disturb')
I use Magicall primarily for handling outgoing International and/or calls to mobiles. I have different international calling cards set up, and whenever I dial anything other than a US domestic number I get Magicall to change the outgoing number and use a calling card. Saves me $$$, and allows me to use different calling cards for different countries/types of call automatically.
I'm considering writing a small app that will allow me to set and/or toggle individual rules within Magicall for a period of time (I often want to just hit a 'do not disturb' button as I get called into an unscheduled meeting, diverting most calls to VM without actually turning off the phone or manually creating a meeting to say I'm busy)
As you hit the button it would allow you to specify a time period; if that was about to expire the phone would vibrate to alert you, if you did nothing the rule would be re-enabled). I've only been using Magicall for a couple of weeks, but I think this would be a very useful addon (and would work well - there's already a command line interface for external apps to control rules)
If anyone thinks that would be useful, let me know - not sure how many Magicall users there are around here! (I'm not associated with them - just a happy customer!)

Hello All,
The title pretty much says it all but just in case I confused you:
I have family members that I would need to reach me in the middle of the night if there was an emergency. I *thought* that placing that contact into a group marked "important" would allow it to bypass the silent ringer (which I like to invoke when I sleep as I don't need to hear every email coming in and wrong numbers)..
I say *thought* because several nights ago another contact in the "important" group called me when I *thought* I had silent set and it still rang, not using the Called ID announcement that it normally does, but a simple ring.
So this evening I asked the family member to call me with the ringer set to silent and no ring at all when they called! So either I'm not understanding how to do this, or, I was wrong the other night when the call came in although I *thought* I had it set to silent.
If there is an app or anything, I'd be willing to investigate..
My rig:
Full root and Nand
rooted stock, 2.1 eclair
Programs in the mix that might affect the situation:
Drive Safely (which I only use when in the car)
Caller ID (from the same folks as Drive Safely)
Thanks!
A program like tasker "may" help. You would have to read their full features list to figure it out for sure.
profile by noimjosh in the market has just what you need, you do have to buy profile AND the whitelist add on, but it is well worth it, settings profile in the market also will do this, if you have any trouble setting either of them up let me know.
My Evo had a nice call blocking setup built in (may have been after I rooted but am not sure) where you had the option in the edit contact menu to block them. It would not ring through unless I was on the other line which was fine and it would push them right to voicemail.
I just got my Note 2 and have not been able to find a way to do this. It has that block call built in that will disable all calls but that is far from ideal because I would need to allow permissions for every other contact and then I would have the call block icon on the top all the time.
Any ideas? I already did a search and came up empty save for a few apps that have their own caveats.
I use Google Voice for this. I think is better than blocking on the Note 2 (dunno about the setup on your Evo) because all blocking on the Note 2 does is make it so you don't get the call. On their end they still hear it ring four times and then go to voicemail. With Google Voice if you set it to block it tells the caller that the number has been disconnected. If you set it to send to voicemail, it doesn't even ring on their end, it goes straight to voicemail.
There is also call screening. You answer the call and then press 1 to let them through or 2 to send them to voicemail. I you send them to voicemail, you can hear what they are saying and can pick up at any time. And there is setting to have unknown callers say who they are before you decide to let them through or go to voicemail.
Plus it has really cheap international calling (my Dad goes to Thailand all the time for work and I can call his Thailand number for $.03/minute (yes 3 cents). I think Sprint charges over $3/minute unless you sign up for their international plan for extra monthly, and even then it is a lot more expensive).
And you can send and receive text messages for free from any computer in the world (and it will show up as your Sprint number so long as you choose to have your Sprint number be your GV number.
And probably more I am forgetting.
And all free. Well, except international calling. You have to pay (a little bit) for that.

I hear ya on that one, I came from the Evo4G also and no you are not mistaken it was a stock option to send contact to voicemail. I too was amazed that this phone didn't have that option in the contact window/menu. As of right now unless you download a 3rd party app to setup a call blocker/blacklist that will either send to voicemail, answer+hang up, or block. Otherwise you have to do like you stated and create a block list and allow everyone but the specified contact which is just ridiculous. Cause in that instance you cannot let through people who are not on your contacts so basically if you want to block a certain contact you have to go to the market to the best of my knowledge. But I had the same issue the other morning, I had someone blowing my phone up when I was sleeping. I looked on my phone forever then went to google search and the forums, and came up with no STOCK resolutions to the issue.
Try hitting menu from the call log screen then call rejection

Thanks man, that did the trick.

Hello,
I'm curious if anyone has come across a way to enable the phone to ring if a number has the correct prefix. Where I work every number has the same area code (US) and first 3 digits of the phone number, so I was wondering if there was some way to enable them to ring. I'm constantly moving around, so I have asked them to call my cell phone, but I also don't want random calls to cause my phone to ring in meetings. I tried to create a contact that had the prefix and then **** for the extension, but it hasn't worked. If there is some app or some way to enable this functionality, I would appreciate an assist with it. If not, hopefully we can get a feature request or app started.
I should mention that I have the Pixel XL on the most recent Verizon Android Oreo OTA. OPR3
Thanks for the help!
I actually would like the opposite because the majority of my spam calls come from my area code and first 3 digits of my phone number.
