ASX file for internet radio with WMP - Windows Mobile Software Development

hey guys,
I'm struggling for a while now with oppenning a file using media player.
I'm developing an app that will stream ESC (eurovison song contest) radio.
problem is, thier link to asx file opens fine both in desktop MP, and in tcpmp, but not in media player mobile.
you can go to esc radio dot com to get it.
(can't post links here)...
I've tried the trick of adding "/*" to the url, with no succsses...
other asx files tend to work...
I want to use WMPLib class in c# to open an instance of wmp programatically and play the stream from inside the app.
anyone can help???
thanks!

if it works on desktop wmp, there should be no problem. My asx files play fine, check ur link

http://www.escradio.com/listen.asx
try downloding that file.
works for me in WMP but not in MP mobile
opnened it in notped, tried editing it but nothing...
used htc hd2 and diamond (both wm6.5).
thanks.

Playing WMA from PC using WiFi

Does anybody know of a way to have media player play files on a remote PC as if they were installed locally?
I have my CD collection on my PC and I'd like to be able to play music from this using my XDAIIs using Wifi.
I've managed to see the files on the PC from the XDAIIs but clicking on them will not play them. However, if I create a shortcut to the file in question, and click on it, the track will play!
Unfortunately, if I create a second shortcut in the same folder to another file on the PC, media player doesn't play it automatically. I have to click on each shortcut that I wish to play.
You can use iTunes to do this, but you have to have WM2003, because I could no longer get it to work when I upgraded to WM5.0. It is called wifitunes, and it is still in alpha testing, but don't let that scare you, because it works well for me. Here is a link:
http://www.aspecto-software.com/WiFiTunes/WiFiTunes.htm
And of course you have to have iTunes installed on your pc (free from apple).
Let me know if this works for you!
I use resco file explorer and simply map the shared drive on my desktop to my SX66. I use TCPMP and can play avi, mpeg, mp3, wav etc on my SX66 over my wifi with no problems.
Thanks,
I tried WiFiTunes but I couldn't get it to work. Putting iTunes on the PC also required me to convert the track from WMA lossless to the Apple format which I wasn't keen to do but thanks for the suggestion.
I've downloaded a trial copy of resco file explorer, it looks like a good product to have irrespective of whether it helped with this particular issue. Used with TCPMP it does exactly what I want.
The only downside is that you have to create playlists because it doesn't organise the content into album, artist and genre lists in the same way that WMP10 does.
As I have nearly 3000 tracks it's going to take me some time to create the playlists but it's something to keep me out of mischief for a while!
Thanks for your help

Unable to change to WM5

For some reason I am unable to upgrade to WM5, maybe it's because it's a new phone and the upgrade only works on later models.
Have tried using the programs found on the Wiki site but with no joy.
Am still having problems with playing media files (mainly video) with the Windows Media 10 (lots of people seem to have the version 9), is there a better media player I can download?
Media player
Try TCPMP from here: http://tcpmp.corecodec.org/
It works well for me. You may also want to convert your files to a smaller size with the right res (320x240) and for that I use Pocket Divx Encoder available here: http://divx.ppccool.com/
thanks stoo, unfortunatley the first link doesn't seem to work, even from a direct google search, maybe the site is down.
Tried the Pocket Divx Encoder but the encoded file still is'nt recognized by the WMplayer, any ideas?

youtube mobile problem

When I click on a link in youtube mobile the streaming application is launched, it says connecting for a few seconds and then it says "failed to find network".
I run Black Shadow.
does anyone else have the same problem. Any suggestion is appreciated.
Check the other thread
I'm about to reply there
about to reply where?
I have a similar problem, i get the "failed to connect" error. Under options i've set it to connect via media net and the internet and still not working.
I know i could install realplayer but then it doesn't auto open, i have to save the file then open it.
the Custel Cingular apps cab is causing the problem. do a hard reset and it works fine. A simple uninstall doesn't work. It would be great if someone could step in and tell us how to modify the registry to have the file type associations change to use the streaming player. I like the cingular apps, but it's nice to actually stream the videos (Maxim Mobile too)
Having the same problem as well.. i've been digging around the registry, but I haven't figured it out yet....
Wow thats crazy. If you click the link on m.youtube.com you get the error, but if you type it into manually into streaming media it works fine!
I used the disable proxy in the proxy manager folder and then it worked fine.
That is using Custel 2.5. And MediaNet.

Could you go into detail where the proxy manager folder is located? Thanks!
its located in a folder under program files but that doesn't seem to fix the problem the main issue is the file association of 3gp to realplayer. i know in sktools you can edit these file associations i haven't tried it yet though.
when I click a link.. it says loading and and does nothing.. realplayer or nothing pops up at all....
should it be using realplayer or tcmp player? i'm gonna try to reset and see what happens..
soft reset, and nothing happened...
let me know what everyone thinks.
I am running the new Elf Rom. Youtube loads right into Streaming Video..not problem.

Using Custel 2.5, and it opens in something called "Streaming Media for Pocket PC" version 2.10h (build 314.713) it looks like it's a HTC application that replaced Windows Media Player.
And when I posted about the proxy disable, that fixed the problem for me, it had just kept looping back to the opening page in m.youtube until I disabled the proxy.
i think the issue is that some people don't run cingular video and are fine because the streaming video app pulls up like it should and plays the video. For some of us that have cingular video realplayer is set to default 3gp so it tries to open it but for some reason doesn't like to play it. In order to fix the problem for those that have cingular video we have to resolve the default app for 3gp video back to the streaming media program or use tcpmp as it can open 3gp video.
Streaming Media Cab {YouTube}
Does anybody have the Htc streaming media cab, not the one in the Touch. I need the one, that comes in most wm6 rom! YouTube a must have!
I am running black dymond 3.5 and have the problem described in the first post. I click the link in youtube -- watch video and it loads windows media player and then says connecting and then after sometime it says failed to find network and then back to the youtube page again.
I am not using cingular video nor do I have real player.
I am using wifi connection as I don;'t have unlimited data plan.

For Mobile YouTube Videos "RTSP Url" only
No, the TCPMP/player will not work this time, You need a player that will host rtsp, [example] rtsp://rtsp.youtube.com/youtube/videos/ect... You need a HTC streaming Media player that comes on most of the ppc wm6 ROM. That's why I looking for the cab file. Again it works like a charm on my MDA running Core 2.0, but I need the cab file for another device....!

I always use browse internet explorer to do this then select the youtube link on the site..
If theres any way of changing the program that gets opened could you please tell me!
Im using the standard Kavana’s 6.1 ROM.
Cheers
Get skyfire and just play them as you would on you pc.

That still doesnt solve my problem, I need to change my Default Windows Media Player on my Mobile to open to another program instead to stream.

Network Drive Mapping on Rhodium?

Hey guys i want to know if its possible to map a drive on my network so that i can access the files via Coreplayer to directly watch it.
Has anyone done that before? Possible or not?
Please feel free to answer, infos, tips, anything
Nice evening guys.
it's pretty easy to do locally with a good file browser. I use resco, it's a paid app but it's great. map a drive like you would on a pc with your wireless connected to your local internet, as long as the drive or folder is shared on the host pc it works great. I can watch movies stored on my pc on my tp2.
as long as you have coreplayer set as the default mp3 or whatver player as well.

No, most all media players will have somewhere in their settings the option to set the player as the default handler for different media types (.mp3, .avi, etc). Whichever media player you use, just find those settings and make sure it's set to that for whatever media types you're trying to access over the network. That way, once you navigate to the files in resco file explorer, and click on them, that player should recognize them and open to play them.
To test it just open IE and type your networkpath as URL (\\your-pc\share\mp3) and the phone should open file explorer in the mp3 folder. select a file to play and coreplayer starts. If coreplayer isn't your default player the file will be played with WMP.
This should be usefull
