If you can't see your TP2 Windows folder from your PC it may be because on your PC you have checked "Hide protected operating system files", under Folder and search options>View (on the PC). BTW: This is a different setting from "Show/Don't hidden files, folders and drives".

Is there any software that I can use to browse the contents of my phone from my PC? Sorta like the way you can use the program MobileRegistryEditor to edit the phone registry using windows.
When I try using Windows Mobile Device Center I cant see to see the Windows folder (its like hidden or something)
thankzzzz
You start off in my documents, which is one level down, and you need to go in "My Device" to get to root. Its really stupid.
no i meant in activesync for vista, i cant see the windows folder (from the computer, not the phone) is tehre a program to view the files from the computer.
I agree,
I cant see my windows folder through activesync on vista.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So is this YAVL (Yet Another Vista Lossage) ? Because in XP (and 2000), it is easy. Just go to My Computer, the phone appears as a device (Mobile Device?), and you right click it and choose Explore.

In Vista Explorer you have to click on Organize - Folder and Search Options; Click on the View Tab and under Advanced Settings click on Show Hidden Files and Folders.
It's also helpful to un-check Hide Extensions for known file types if you want to change file names/types.
I hope this helps.

Hey guys.
I would like to go into my Windows directory on my Blackstone from my computer. Is that even possible?
Yes it is.
I assume you are connected via ActiveSync between the PC and Blackstone?
You should be able to access the entire directory structure.
I'm using WM Device center to connect my HD via ActiveSync. I'm also not able to see my windows map on my Blackstone. I've set the settings to also show hidden folders, but Windows still not visble. How is that with ActiveSync on Windows XP?
Not the windows directory..

Make sure you are displaying hidden files and you have the option to show protected os files.
My settings (on my PC) are to show hidden files and folders. Where do I find the option to show also hidden OS files? Thanks in advance

Tnyynt gave me an answer long time before BillGates.. And no reason to double post an answer..
I'm not sure if anybody else is experiencing this problem but I just recently upgraded to a Tilt 2 from a Fuze. When I connect my phone to my computer through Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1, and I try to explore the contents of the phone using Windows Explorer, I'm not able to view all of the system folders on the device (e.g. "Temp" and, more importantly, "Windows"). I'm able to view the other folders and the phone and my MicroSD card show up as separate devices, instead of showing the Storage Card in the device directory, but it appears the Windows folder is hidden--even though I have my settings configured to show all hidden files and folders.
I'm able to view and modify the contents of the Windows folders on the Tilt 2, itself, using Total Commander or File Explorer, but not on my desktop, which would be much more convenient since I fiddle with the system files and Start Menu regularly. Does anybody know if this is a limitation of the device, WMDC, or going from a 32-bit to 64-bit operating system (I haven't explored my phone, including Fuze, since upgrading from ActiveSync 4.5 and Windows XP Pro SP3 to WMDC 6.1 and Windows 7 Ultimate x64 three months ago)?
After doing some searching, it looks like this has only been an issue for one or two other people:

Thanks in advance for the help.
Anybody? Am I the only one who's experienced this?
probably stupid question, have you unchecked "hide system and hidden files" in windows explorer?

And there's another nearby setting that needs to be un-checked:
"Hide protected operating system files"
Yes -- one or both of these are almost-certainly the OP's problem...it's a common one.
As I mentioned before, I have my settings configured to show all hidden files and folders. I also have my settings configured to show operating system files. I'm kind of stumped. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Hmmm...so you did. Yeah, that is weird.
I don't know...could it be a W7-64-bit issue? I'm running W7 32-bit and can see all folders on the phone (as long as both hidden and operating-system settings are configured as suggested above).
I'll soon be upgrading my other computer to 64-bit W7, so I guess I'll find out myself.
I am sure this question has been asked before. But no I couldnt find using the search option neither with google.
I recently upgraded from XP to W7. To accecc the windows folder on my TP2 in xp I just had to set folder option view to "View hidden files and folders". In w7 I do the same in Control panel>folder options>"show hidden files, folders and drives" but then I am still not able to see my Windows folder on my mobile. (i do see all hidden folders on my comp)
I already solved it by using total comander, but in the future it might be helpful to know how to access my windows folder on my telephone by using Windows 7!
ANyone who can help me out?
In that same menu, just uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)". Problem solved.
Hi everyone,
sorry to bother you with such a beginner question but I'm trying to access /windows directory from my computer when my device is connected to it but I can't find it.
First, I thought we can't get to it and looked for an app to get the access but I don't find anything...
So, do you know a way to access /windows directory from your computer?
Thank you a lot!
A Windows setting on your PC is hiding certain folders/files, and that extends to your phone when viewing the phone from the PC.
On your PC, in Windows Explorer or similar screen where you can see files and folders, click on Organize>Folder Options>View. Exactly where this is and what it's called depends on which version of Windows you have. Then select "Show hidden files, folders, and drives" and unselect "Hide protected operating system folders".
